Isn't it ridiculous that there is uncertainty regarding whether or not there will be a penalty for overtaking while off the track? Why then was Max not penalized when he overtook Lando when he went off the track in the latter laps and just streaked ahead, ultimately leading to the contact? Max basically dares the stewards to make a call against him. Bogus!
History shows that Max gets away with so much
Probably following precedent set by lap 1 at AD21. Logically should not have been allowed in either case. Both cases went pumished
To be fair, Max crashed out within the next two laps. It's possible they didn't get a chance to even note it.
@@vr6one and Sainz (2023 austria) or Leclerc (2019 silverstone) defending from Max, Hamilton e.g. final race of 2021 and taking big shortcut :)

Surprised Lewis was asked to give the position back, Red Bull’s MO seems to be the opposite, don’t give the position back and force the stewards to give the penalty. Which under the current stewarding seems to pay off.
Seemed like the team didn't want Lewis battling George who was looking rather slow on that first stint so they chose the easy way out that dilemma.

That's because they didn't want lewis to be ahead of George
If Lewis did not give the place back he would have won. George was weak and got lucky. Not an earned win.
Red Bull does that because the difference in the pace will easily offset the 5sec penalty that they will receive. But I do believe Merc did a mistake by giving Sainz the position back. I don't think Lewis would have gotten the penalty

wow the gravel can penetrate the carbon-fiber so easily? Even with such a speed i thought that carbon-fiber could be able to resist the force.
They weave those panels really thin for weight reduction

@@danielo7985 yep, that was the terminal flaw in the ocean gate hull, carbon fiber is strong in tension but weaker in compression

Let's win on merit and then celebrate
There was a time when these debriefs sounded like Mercedes were a team that knew what they were doing, not so convincing these days, almost like they have spent a few days coming up with a narrative that excuses their decision making.
First lap, why not take a leaf out of Red Bull and Verstappen's book and instantly claim that Hamilton was forced off the track; Verstappen and Red Bull applied that level of outrage and retained the lead and didn't suffer a penalty despite a few laps before Norris doing the same thing but giving up the lead.
Asking the FIA what they think, is just about all the encouragement the FIA need to give a penalty, why would you even ask the FIA something like that, especially when you know what their answer in going to be? A more supportive team would be calling for a penalty against Sainz.
Granted the Mercedes celebration of the race win was heavily acknowledged as a gift, so not complete delusion, but the reality is that Mercedes were third best by a country-mile, take the win sure, but surely the team can't be happy with the scraps and maybe keep the winner's t-shirts in the cupboard until a race is won on pure merit.
Agreed, this isn't the Mercedes I know, this is some shell of the once great team. Embarrassing.

mercedes was fifth fastest at the beginning of the season, being third fastest, especially consistently beating ferrari, is a huge success for the team and their upgrades! celebrating their success keeps motivation high in the team to strive for more

bogus explanation for puting lewis back first lap incident would have been fine. they did not want lewis to pass george. whatever they can to slow the man down ferrari next year cant come sooner.

More likely a P1-P2, with Lewis finishing first, because he was faster during the first stint.

Mecedes being indecisive, should have either told lewis to carry on knowing it was the first lap , or tell lewis to give in back on thesame lap one, not on lap 4 or 5 where a gap has been opened, it was just poorly executed again
A wise man once said "To finish first, first you must finish."
Here’s a suggestion, why don’t you approach the fia and suggest these gravel traps right next to the track be covered in resin to stop the gravel being ejected all over the track. They would only need to do on the worst corners and at best maybe a metre in width. No more damaging the cars, keeps the gravel in place and out of brake ducts and radiators, saves on the clean up time, keeps the tyres from kicking up a dust storm👍
Or Hamilton should just keep his car out of the gravel and then he wouldn't have picked up damage
I always value debrief sessions, much better understanding of the car performance and knowing that my beloved driver’s are in good hands

Why do you feel the need to get Verstappen when you've got Russel then?
Lewis strategy was awful, left him out for too long which basically killed his chance of a podium finish. He came out 18 seconds behind piastri and no new rubbers can close that sort of a gap. From being 2 seconds ahead to 18 seconds behind Piastri, now that's what an awful strategy is.

Greatly disappointed that lewis had to give back the position to Sainz, that was for me a sign of a team that does not care. Most teams would have argued lewis got pushed and fought to keep the position, but mercedes being the sheep they are especially to lewis decided to instruct him to give it back. It was literally USA last year whereby George got pushed wide by Gasly turn 1 in the start so went off track but still was able to keep that position without any penalty, isn't precedence enough especially given it was the start of the race?

He would have gotten a penalty had he not given the place back. You didn't watch the video properly. Or, if you don't trust the explanation of James, read the stewards decision.
@@arkangel6281agreed, but the stewards decisions are inconsistent as always. It was as clear as day, on lap 61, that Lando overtook Max properly, by being first at the apex of turn 3 and keeping the car within track limits, while Max was keeping the position by acceleration off track, and yet the steward did nothing about it...
@paulbaila yeah I agree that the FIA decisions are inconsistent, but will you take that chance and then get a 10sec penalty for it and damage you race.
You don't even mention why Lewis had a giant hole punched in his sidepod? Really? Could these videos be more worthless since you changed them from last season.
it was damage from the debris of norris’ car, it only happened late in the race so it didn’t have a big impact on his general pace

You guys are sugarcoating the damage you are subjecting Hamilton to. It's not nice at all. The entire F1 community knows that Russell is not of the calibre of Hamilton yet and still, you are suddenly taking performance away from Hamilton every single weekend. Even when Russell tries to run dangerously close to his teammate to keep him behind there seems to be no call from Wolff or anyone whatsoever. All previous teammates of Hamilton in this team were always close but this gulf between him and Russell is glaringly laughable.
The point about giving the place back to Sainz is not feasible because, in the end, Hamilton ended up with more than a ten-second deficit in a major way. You made that call so that Russell would have breathing space after he again almost ran Hamilton off the road after being passed by clearly the faster driver at that point. I loved this team and bought many merchandise for me and my family members but have decided never to be a fan and will unsubscribe once the season is over. Russell is not a team player. Hamilton is a gentleman. Sad the team resorted to such a devious and sickening attitude towards him...

Mercedes and Lewis are too simple minded to worry about penalty from stewards and it should ideally be that way, but the dirty max keeps egging the stewards to punish him and nothing really happens. Max will always be dirty to me and I will never support him even if he joins Mercedes in future because he takes winning above sportsmanship. Max is just dirty.
This is embarrassing, you guys didn't win, George was 18 seconds behind them in p3, and George still almost lost to Oscar, who's in his second year.
