Hi y’all those are not spider senses, those are woman’s intuition or black girl suspicious vibes. You are so blessed to have your husband with you doing this. I’m married but about to do it alone. I hope next time Dave will be with you when you speak to these weird people because all it takes is a second to be taken.

My dad, who is a retired police officer has one piece of advice he gives to ALL men. It’s something he has noticed over his decades long career and been proven time and time again. “If you are with a woman and she gets a gut instinct of fear or unease- believe her and act immediately even if you don’t feel the same way.” My dad is convinced women have gut feeling super powers that far succeed a man’s intuition and gut instinct. Even as a child my father listen to my gut instincts and if they were wrong in the end he would tell me “just because you were wrong this time it doesn’t mean you will be next time- ALWAYS tell us and follow your gut.”
I actually got a lot of childhood self esteem from these interactions.

That happened to us. We were in a tent in the mountains. No protection being in a tent and too far away to get help. Three men pulled up in a truck in our camping spot. We came out to greet them, and they quickly went from friendly to aggressive. We cant get to our car. You begin to realize this is going badly. My father stayed friendly and stayed calm as he reached around inside the door of the tent where in a side pocket he kept a 357 in case of bears. He pulled out his gun. They immediately spun around jumped in their truck and drove off. Who would have thought we would have needed it to protect our family from scary people. We threw everything in the car within minutes and left. We never camped in the woods in a tent ever again. I believe if my father hadn't had that gun we would have been in serious trouble being so far away from anyone.

I was in southern Oregon at a county campground with my two children. It wasn’t the middle of nowhere. But it was probably 30 minutes to the nearest town. The first two nights two families are camping next to us. Safety in numbers. They all left the next day and we were by ourselves that night. I wasn’t too concerned and we were enjoying the solitude. Then about 10:30 at night, a run down Jeep Cherokee shows up. I found that really strange. They don’t engage us. But they’re doing something at the campsite next to us. I can’t see because of the trees. They left after about an hour. But the entire time they were there, I was hyper aware. They left after about an hour. Same Jeep returned the next day to fish. Weird. I didn’t have a firearm then. I haven’t camped without one since.

I am a VET and can tell you that the overwhelming majority of vets are NOT armed, and NOT trained to defend themselves. Most of us served in support roles (logistics, admin, air traffic control, mechanic, etc). Many of us also live in states that have overly restrictive gun laws. I live in PA and have a concealed carry license, but if I cross into NY, DE, MD or NJ, then I am committing a felony by being armed.

Do NOT open your door to others, keep doors locked. Leave if you dont feel safe. You are lucky, you dont have to get out of your vehicle to get to the driver seat.

Lawlessness, homeless, drug addicts looking to steal for their next fix, and don't get me started on the invasion coming over our borders! The govt. Doesn't know who they have left in here. The airhorn is excellent must have equipment. But, every RV needs cameras and motion detectors on top and most every angle of the outside of RV. A few years ago a friend experienced a group of drunks rocking his compact trailer in an effort to tip it over. Completely defenseless he pretended to talk as if someone else was in the trailer. Making sure he could be heard he asked his imaginary friend to get an imaginary gun. That's all it took and the drunks quickly left. He said he learned a valuable lesson. From that moment on the gun wasn't imaginary.

It is a very dangerous job for a woman, some might disagree but i learned real fast you can't trust ANYONE. A friend advised me to carry a spray can of wasp spray, next to me seat, i felt alot safer. It sprays oh about 13 feet. I ALWAYS was on guard with about 3-4hours of sleep the first couple of years but i learned where i could park my rig and have a good rest.

While patrolling we’re not supposed to use the same route/go the same direction each time, also don’t patrol at predictable intervals. For example: every 30 minutes etc. Be unpredictable.

No really bad feeling like that would be only about bikes. They may have been planning abduction or something else weird. You can get a second lock for your doors and cameras outside but that wouldn't stop someone from shooting out your tires from under you. Never second guess a gut feeling.

My son is a trucker. Companies do not allow drivers to carry firearms in the cab. I think this is a mistake but understand because of the insurance liability. My son is in process of buying his own big rig and owner operators can carry. I respect truckers and always give them room when they want to pass or pull into traffic. In all my years of driving i have only had two bad experiences with truckers. One was driving erratically , i followed and called the police and they pulled him over. He was high on drugs (something rare i believe for truckers). The second i had dropped off my grandson on a Sunday and was driving home. I was working for highway patrol then but was in my private vehicle and not in uniform. A trucker pulled up beside me and when he was almost past me he swerved over in my lane almost forcing me off the highway. I thought ok maybe is tired and misjudged the distance or maybe because it is raining and overcast he didn't see me properly. Then he backed up along side me and rolled down his passenger window and told me to pull over he was going to kick my (butt). I told him he better go on as i guaranteed he would lose this argument. He then tried to run me off the road a second time. I thought ok now you are going to jail so i followed him for about 50 miles planning to arrest him at the next scale station. I didn't know the scale was closed that day. I saw a trooper who had someone pulled over so i pulled over identified myself to him and told him what had happened. He said my partners are headed this way i will call them. He called and gave the,m the description of the truck. They said they would stop him at the next rest stop a few miles ahead. They pulled him over and he got out swearing at the troopers. The trooper told him to calm down as he would put him in jail so he calmed right down. Trooper asked if he had had trouble with anyone that day and he said no everything was fine. About that time i pulled into the rest stop. The trucker started jumping up and down and screaming, "That's him, he is the one who has been (blanking) with me all day. The trooper smiled and told him "Guess what he is one of us". He put him in handcuffs. I got into the other patrol car with the second trooper . He was filling out the arrest report and said he didn't want to sign it as he didn't want to have to go to court to testify. I told him since i had to go anyway i would sign it. I got out and walked past the other car with the suspect handcuffed in the back seat. I smiled at him and walked away. I took info from his truck and when i got home i called his company in Indiana. I told them we had arrested their driver but where they could pick up their truck since we were not impounding it. He thanked me and told me he could tell me the name of the driver. This told me this wasn't the first time he had been in trouble. I was not called to testify as he plead guilty. He lost his license for three years but virtually his career as a driver was over as i don't know any company that would hire a driver with that conviction on their record.

My Dad always said when he was rving to take your time. Do not be driving for more than four or five hours and leave first thing in the morning (to him that was at the crack of dawn; hahaha). He says that you have to plan your trip to be slow and safe. Know where you're going and however long it takes to get there, that's how long it takes. Stop at safe places on the way to the "special destination". He would never have stopped at an abandoned parking lot next to an abandoned amusement park with "abandoned" being the key warning word. I am glad nothing came of this scary story for the two of you. I would just say to everyone that, remember, our old moms and dads are pretty much right in hindsight. Take your time. My E250 cargo van, self built camper, is my daily driver whether im traveling or at home base. I was meeting my very tall adult son for lunch in the city in a very old neighborhood for the best catfish. I arrived 1st. Parked near a tree for shade at the back of the lot. Immediately I was crowded by 2 vehicles on each side of me, i thought how inconsiderate, i couldnt open my doors. So i moved forward to get unpinned. One moved behind me as if to leave but stood there. The other repositioned himself, again too close on my other side. My son showed up & the one behind me moved. My son then parked behind me. Now I had cars on 3 sides, but one was my son & now I was able to open my door. I told my son & he was looking around & asked where are they, he wanted to get eyes on them too. The one in front saw him talking to me & left the lot as i was telling him what was going on. Oh by the way, this is a very old restaurant with wide parking spots, no need to crowd someone from being able to get out of their vehicle. After hearing your story I bet their weird behavior was up to no good thinking I had goodies in my cargo van, which was not the first time that has happened to me. Couple years ago someone tried to claim i had his work tools in my van as he was trying to get in. That one i drove away on. I seriously don't like crowded cities any more.

Circling around rigs, etc. I spoke to some casino security staff and they did admit casinos are centers for crime at night. I was also approached by an aggressive man inside the casino while sitting in the cafe. He became aggressive and I had to call security to be escorted out. There is a chance that some security staff are in cahoots with gangs, too. People are drinking at casinos, they can be addicted to gambling and get upset when they lose, making them violent even. I will never camp in a casino parking lot again.

One of the last things you said just made my eyes pop out. People do get deranged when losing a few months worth of bills money and how that can sent them off to do something stupid to other people.
I had a bad experience where I went to a casino with an ex boyfriend who won 8K first night and gave me $500. He said no matter what not to give it to him if he asked for it again. I didn’t understand why he would say that to me until the next day when he lost 20K. When he asked for the money back I told him no and he spazzed out and was not the person I had arrived with the day before. His face looked twisted, insane and I gave him the money out of my own safety. He left the room and I left without telling him. Never answered his calls or saw him again. If this guy who had a proper job and upbringing, so I was made to believe, could check out of sanity lane, it’s not hard to understand chaos in the casino parking lots.

A previous employer had a strong safety program. Brought in a state police detective to talk about personal safety. He said our intuition aka spidey sense is there for a reason and to always heed it instead of ignoring it. Better to be safe and maybe a little inconvenienced than a victim. He cited numerous cases where people had a feeling and ignored it with the circumstances not turning out well. I’ve watched a lot of videos about safety on the road and one major take away is to have layers of protection like cameras, motion sensors, audible alarms, personal protection items placed in various places inside the rig etc. May feel like a lot but so worth it for a safe peace of mind. Happy and safe travels to you both.

We stopped the another night in our fifth wheel around 11:00 pm at a closed grocery store. My wife wanted to use the restroom and get a drink. While she was doing that I noticed a small white car circling us in the empty parking lot. I immediately got protection and I went to get my wife for her safety. I got her, secured the lock on the camper, and got my wife in the truck ASAP. The car returned again. I knew my 3500 diesel truck could plow over the small Chevrolet if needed to escape potential harm. However, after he realized that I'm onto to him and laser focused on his movements he decided to stop stalking us. Maybe he realized his element of surprise was gone.

I’m sorry to inform you about the Creep was looking for a hooker. That’s how they act you didn’t do anything because these guys have zero value. He was seeing if he could buy the woman when he saw your actions he saw it wasn’t gonna happen any. It isn’t anything you’ve done, he was hoping you were her pimp and that you had sent her somewhere on business. You can get mad at me for hearing the truth or you can watch all the act and know to keep your distance. Do what you did but don’t be surprised because no value men are everywhere.

It doesn't have to be in an RV. Something fell over the path of my garage door and though I pressed the opener to close it did not wait to see that it had completely closed. I was gone only about 30 minutes and when I returned realized that the door was open. I did a quick look around because I have a lot of expensive woodworking tools in the garage, but everything was still there. And then I
realized in that short time someone had come in and stolen my lawnmower. I thought they were stupid to not take the expensive hand tools but learned a new mower of the same type now cost $329. No one saw anyone pushing a lawnmower down the sidewalk so evidently they saw the door open, cased the garage and came back with a car or truck and took off with the lawnmower. Like you, I am now a lot more cautious!!

Yeah, my family once had a whole riding lawn mower stolen from our carport in broad daylight while everyone was at work. A couple of homes in the neighborhood also got hit for their riding mowers including a local church. These bold van criminals know exactly what they want, stalk for the right moment, and then get in and out quick.

Hey. I remember getting carjacked in a CVS parking lot right beside the biggest hospital in a hundred mile radius. Point being, desperate people are subject to try anything. But I wanted to point something out to you. When you're "off grid", you're off the radar, meaning if nobody sees or hears from you for an extended amount of time, how long will it take before the authorities are even notified that something is wrong, you're missing, there's a stranger operating your vehicle, etc. You absolutely MUST be aware of this constantly, because every encounter can potentially end in disaster. NEVER FORGET for a split second, when someone, ANYONE approaches you and they are a stranger to you, they should be considered a threat until it's established that they're not. That means watch when answering questions, how you respond, what people are allowed to see and hear, and NEVER give approximate times of your comings and goings. I'm not telling you that you must be paranoid, but your safety and well being is paramount to all else!!!

In day it is important to really know your area safety range.
Never answer the questions , and talk to people through the window.
I tell people all the time to play the ‘what if’ game.

Things not only can but do happen. Like the accident and also the unfriendly people. Thanks for being honest ❤ Glad you are okay. I’m not a van lifer but I have worked overnight for years. Much of the time outside driving both people and delivery or doing security work. I’ve slept in my van or car and you have to take heed to your spidey sense!🕷️ I’m a female who has worked alone in the night for many years. Yes I have been attacked. Don’t assume that truckers will have your back. I was a guard at the time and it was a truck that brought the assailants in to the facility. The other drivers only feet from me just pretended not to be aware of anything . They just locked doors and kept quiet. They were afraid of being robbed. It was a crappie situation but God brought me through. I was tied up, pistol whipped and threatened with death. According to the investigators I was the only guard they had attacked and left alive. I was also the only woman guard they had encountered. God kept me! I only say this because you have to remember that truckers especially owner operators have everything to lose and they may not come to the rescue. So keep that in mind if you’re thinking truck stops are safer. ❤ take care

As a therapist over 30 years I have heard many many stories of folks being attacked raped etc. Every time the intuition was going off but they told themselves they were overreacting. Those were the ones who got attacked. It is best to run and be safe instead of staying so you don't overreact and being attacked because you ignored your intuition.

First I'd like to say that I'm glad you are both safe and sound and that you shared this vlog so others can benefit from this scary experience. Second, this incident may not have been about you/your rig at all....I mean yes, they were for sure casing the place, but maybe not for the reasons you think....maybe there was a drug deal about to go down....or even worse, ugh, I hate to even think about it, but human trafficking. It's SO important to be vigilant and always be aware of your surroundings (I'm a solo female vanlifer living in a miniskoolie so I can never be stealthy) and to always listen to your gut. Even if you think you ARE over-reacting, so what? Better to over-react than to find yourself in a messy/dangerous situation. I've only had one incident happen wherein I had to leave my overnight spot (Wal-Mart parking lot) unexpectedly....it was at a SmartCenter/SuperCenter (so HUGE parking lot) and I had parked in that same spot many times prior, without issue. So I parked, put up all my window shades, had had dinner, was relaxing with a book and then I heard someone park close to me. Since my rig does look different (there are NO other skoolies in this area) I'm used to Wanda (my rig) getting noticed and commented on (always nice comments haha)....anyway, I thought maybe they just wanted to get a better look at Wanda....but after a few minutes I noticed they weren't going away, so I peeked out through the window covering and saw them parked RIGHT next to me.....the lot is HUGE and was 99% empty at that time of night. They could have parked anywhere else but no, they parked so close to me that I wouldn't be able to open my (drivers side) door (not that I WOULD!). I watched their car for activity (their windows were heavily tinted too) and even though they weren't doing anything TO me directly, I still felt unsafe and I left. Wanda weighs 11,000 lbs so we can't just peel out of anywhere haha, but I kept an eye on my mirrors to make sure they weren't following me. It was a scary situation but again, maybe not about me at all. Could just be they were looking for a place to get frisky and needed my bus as a shield, who knows. Still, I'd rather be safe than sorry and I moved my tiny-home-on-wheels to a different location. Am new to your channel but am going to Subscribe now and follow your journey (you're welcome to do same....I mostly just post Shorts + I have one bus tour video so far) Safe travels ☺

I wanted to add that in a recent book they list all the serial killers that are found in long distance trucking.

Our son is a professional gambler. It is NOT uncommon for vehicles to be broken into and computers, and anything they can grab to be ripped off. ALSO if they think you have money, a winnings etc they will follow and stake people out. It's happened to him MANY times and he has learned evasive techniques. Going with an escort, walking through the casino in random patterns to see if anyone tries to follow... waste time lingering so they get tired of it, not leave. Only leave with a crowd going in and out... Drive in public areas and avoid any quiet or dark roads. Go far enough you get lost in traffic. Call the cops if you have to.

Also, if you’re followed, drive to the nearest police station!

Honey why did you go outside to talk to them. Please do not trust anyone in parking lots. That casino parking lot doesn’t look safe to me.

I would make & eat dinner, prep everything for bed in one location & drive to the overnight spot where I wouldn’t get out of the vehicle at all. Just put up the rest of the blinds & crawl into bed. Easier when you know a route well; very time consuming when you don’t. If there’s ever 2 vehicles looking at you they’re definitely planning something. Especially nowadays when they know “van life” is a thing & there’s way more of a chance of getting good stuff.
