    If you want it to work on both PS5 and Xbox get the GT DD Pro and buy an xbox wheel. I bought the McLaren wheel and with it and the DD Pro it works on both consoles as the PS security chip is in the base and the Xbox security chip is in the xbox wheels

    For the people who are planing on buying the csl dd with the boost kit and want to save some money i recommend buying the 5nm plus a normal 200 watt power supply instead of the 8nm version from fanatec. The only difference between the version with 5nm version and 8nm is the power supply. I still recommend to buying a highquality one tho, mine is from amazon and it cost me 50$. I have been using mine for 5 months without a single problem. A friend of me also sad that his 8nm boost kit from fanatec heats up after use and well mine doesn`t. There are a few videos which explain the process in more deatail. Soldering a 4 pin connector to the 24 volt to the output of the powersupply is required.

      Now I feel like I need to try this. Still can't figure out why my DD with boost kit did not feel stronger than the CSL elite... Thanks for sharing!

    • @NicLP2016

      I would definitely not recommend this as the other power supplies have not been officially tested with the CSL DD. If your CSL DD is damaged because they did not use the original power supply / boost kit, then Fanatec will not repair your CSL DD under warranty. And yes, they can figure it out if you used the original boost kit or a third party power supply.

    It's possibly the damping settings. The Elite can feel quite heavy in the center on a lot of games and needs this tweaking to preference to make it more progressive. As you had the Elite first I suspect you had just got used to this 'weight' as you initiate turns and by comparison the DD may feel lighter, but is still capable of putting out a higher peak force in respone to feedback telemetry output.

    I’m honestly happy with the CSL still, not sure why someone would upgrade to the DD unless they just “want it” and have that kind of cash laying around. I’m usually the kind of person who upgrades just cause but this time I’m sticking with my CSL for quite a while longer.

    • @tm21simracing
      @tm21simracing  2 роки тому +1

      I would agree. If you have the CSL elite, there is not much reason to upgrade. Aside from what I mentioned in the video, I do appreciate how much simpler the structure is for DD. For something one would keep for a long time, simpler usually equal to less prone to failure.

      I think I need to change my perspective a little: it depends. The DD does add quite a bit of details in FFB. If you only care about the racing aspect of sim racing, then the CSL elite would do just fine. But if you want more realism, CSL DD is worth the upgrade.

    • @MTheroy
      @MTheroy 2 роки тому +1

      @@tm21simracing seeing as GT7 just nerfed FFB into the ground I guess nothings worth it at this point. But I understand the view point, I just don’t see the price point worth the gain in so called realism for the DD for now anyway.

      I have the CSL Elite for my PS5 only, and the DD1 for the PC. I’ve thought time and time again should I sell the Elite and upgrade to the DD pro (for PS). The answer is really NO… it seems the power is good enough, almost on par just less detail. So who cares… keep your elite. If you have nothing then get the CSL DD or DD Pro.. for sure.

    so you are aware that that CSL elite box you showed us is not one of the original high-performance "+" boxes 7Nm PlayStation certified not just compatible and it will have blue raised CSL elite stickers on the right hand side of the face,Fanatec as long been known for the way they manipulate products and names. The original boxes with the raised blue logos are the only original CSL elite dual built drive 7 N meter boxes that were PlayStation certified and will always work with every generation of PlayStation. The internal of this box were superior to the standard non "+" boxes. I bought three of these originals. I still have one in a box upstairs because I understand what fanatic does with their products. They don't get better overtime. They just figure out how to make them cheaper.

    wow su much of what you said was half right. my elites do not fan on start up. also you have not mentioned the problems with shaft bending problem. this is caused by the bad engineering in this money maker. it is almost 6 1/2 inches from the bearing face to the front of the wheel on the DD pro. This is called an arm moment the longer the arm moment the more leverage can be placed on that inside bearing face also the afterthought clamp they had to put on there to keep the wheel from pulling out. It's just terrible engineering, I'll give this another two years before people start to complain about a malfunctioning electrical connections between the wheel and the internals. I'm an aircraft engineer by trade, and we would never build anything like this because it's not meant to last it was meant to make profit and give people a cheaper direct drive unit that was an afterthought, because SONY cut them off from using the CSL elite as a PlayStation unit, if you notice it fanatic, you can no longer buy any PlayStation buttons or products except for one single wheel. Everything else is not Sony compatible or Sony authorized. It's just PlayStation ready also before I started shelling for fanatic, I would talk about the world, famous horrible customer service that they produce for people that have spent thousands of dollars on their gear, I had a friend wait 91 days to get a handbreak and a shifter sent to him and the shifter was broken when he got it please be careful about doing reviews for anything fanatic produces unless you're going to warn them about everything that comes with it also, we did a mechanical test on the CSL elite and it produced 7.61 N meters of force with the power supply that comes with it. I could go on for another 20 minutes about this but I'll leave it here.

    • @tm21simracing
      @tm21simracing  Рік тому +1

      Wow, I love engineering debates as I'm ME by education and by trade, so let's start there. I’m not sure which part of my statements are half right, but what you posted here is definitely half right. In regards to shaft bending, I didn’t mention it because I simply don’t have this problem. Yes, the shaft on DD appears to stick out longer. But without knowing the internal design, supporting structure, material, cross-section, I would not draw the conclusion that it bends more. I’m sure you’re aware that modulus and moment of inertia are also part of the equation. Now to the bearing, yes, a longer moment arm will result in more bending moment at the bearings. But this can be tackled by using an appropriate bearing. So again, without knowing what type of design goes into the two units, there is no way to draw conclusion that one is inferior. If your claim is based on take apart and engineering analysis of the overall design and piece parts, and there is a video on this information, please kindly let me know as I’d be very interested to take a look as well. And I may take some of the statement back depending on what I can learn from it.
      Now to the non-engineering part. Your claim about their relationship with Sony is purely based on speculation. There is definitely business negotiations that caused them to land where they are. Again without having any insight of that, I won’t try to link that to the engineering of the product. Customer service, I do notice some complains about their CS, but I haven’t had to dealt with them yet, so there is nothing for me to complain.
      Lastly, thank you for sharing your test result of CSL elite. I’m happy to learn that it outputs 7.61 Nm. Ever since I posted this video I’ve been wondering why the peak torque on the two units didn’t feel much different to me, and pretty much all other UA-camrs reported a significant difference according to some of the other comments here. Thank you for showing that I might be right.
      Again I enjoy engineering debates, would be more than happy to chat more!
