I know very little about furniture, but because of watching furniture restoration/flipping channels like yours, I have grown to love the Art Deco style. I love to see these pieces restored. I love the choices you made with the stain. It's beautiful.
You have reached hero status in my book! You took the time to do the work and it shows. I've seen so many beautiful Deco pieces destroyed on UA-cam but not this one. Your dark stain gave it an updated look without taking away the natural beauty of the piece. You should be very proud of yourself and I hope you were able to keep the piece for yourself to enjoy, you earned it!
Thanks for all your hard work on this lovely item…could have been in Poirot’s apartment! And saving it was a good deed when it could have been easily thrown in a landfill.
The best way to remove smells is use charcoal preferably not the easy light kind. Just plain charcoal. Place 5 or 6 in a low sided box and put in watch area for 3 days to a week. Owen we were moving a piece of fish got left in the door of the fridge freezer. That fridge sat on a 95 degree truck for a week. When opened we thought we would have to buy a new fridge. We tried various methods including baking soma. Nothing worked until charcoal was suggested. Worked like a charm. Next time give it a try. ❤ you did a gorgeous job ! Looks fabulous!
I admire your commitment, the end result is beautiful. The darker edging really suits the piece, I would have stained the wooden inlays in the glass doors dark as well. Still looks amazing though.
Thanks so much. I debated on staining the inserts....but decided the dark stain in the interior and the dark stain on the inserts would make it melt away. The was my rationalization! 🙂
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL resurrection of a sad, nearly ruined piece of furniture -- you've brought history back to life and deserve to be seriously proud of yourself! How many hours do you think you have in it?
Wow. Lots of work on this one. Worth it in the end. And I do love the dark trim. And the square trim on the windows worked perfectly. Gotta say - you make this one shine. It's gorgeous.
A museum piece! Beautiful! Striking. It pops out at you. Demands your attention! A real work of restoration art above all others. One of a kind masterpiece!!!!!
My goodness! 11/10 for thoroughness! From the careful restoration of the deco hardware to the light touch-up with the stain pens, and the Gilboy's hard wax oil. Everything was beautifully done. A huge job.. and I only had to watch! Thank you for this video. Your patience is part of the process. Good luck with your new channel and I will wait for more. ❤ PS. Loved the light jazz piano and guitar musical background.
Stunning you turned a pigs ear into a silk purse well done. I love how meticulous you are making sure every bit is done 😊 The dark stain actually showed off the Walnut much more than the light tone did so for me a good choice 😊
Definitely prefer the dark stain! I probably would have also stained the wood glass door inserts also. Don’t know if you could recoup your time investment but it certainly is beautiful now!
I debated on staining the inserts. In the end I thought if I stained then you wouldn't be able to see them against the dark interior! And I agree with you....I won't recoup my time on this one....maybe if my video gets lots of views, the 💰 will follow! 🤣🤣🤣
This channel has strong potential, ASMR with appropriate music (a rarity these days) and I love the product graphics. Here's to you going silver just because I want to see more.
Wow, thank you! It’s nice to hear comments from everyone. Sometimes when you are working away on your own (refinishing and editing the video) you have no real clue if you are doing things the right way! Thanks for watching and thanks for the SuperThanks! More to come in a few weeks. A mcm 9 drawer dresser is my next one! 😊
This Restoration has been brought to by Bounce! I like when you show an image of the product you're using. Wow!! So Beautiful!! You always have such a Great Eye for Color! I looked at for a while, it was so nice. That Gilboy's is Some pretty Great stuff. Mayfield, Rhoose and Flip-it Nation have been using it with Amazing results! Thank You!
So BEAUTIFUL!!!! I would have left the light wood natural and protect it with the hard wax oil. I believe you could have washed the inside with vinegar and water instead of stripping and got rid of the nasty smell with less work. Your work is meticulous. I really enjoyed the video . AWESOME RESTORATION!
Thanks! I have used the vinegar method before but I was not loving the idea of the dark trim exterior with the lighter wood inside. But who knows...it could have looked awesome. ☺️ Thanks of tuning in!
I’m more of a painter of furniture, especially the MCM pieces that just have a spray finish over poplar (not always pretty). However, I do learn a lot of techniques from you for when I am able to keep the raw timber and not paint. Thank you for your videos.
I can't belive you don't have more subscribers! Love your channel. Always interesting projects, calm music, great voice overs!! I hopevmore people will discover you soon. This of course turned out beutiful!
Nice job! I think that staining the trim dark provides a more subtle contrast with the beautiful walnut. Leaving it natural might have looked too “busy” with walnut. I probably would have not stained it simply because I struggle with color work but I think you made the right choice.
Thanks. There is definitely a lot going on with all the different veneers. And choosing what stains to use or not use is always a bit of a gamble. Thanks for tuning in. 😄
Looks very, very good. I'm leaning towards natural wood where you darkened because it would have matched the natural wood inserts in the doors. But it still turned out fantastic imo. Just glad you didn't paint the darkened areas black like so many do now.
Absolutely beautiful and love your attention to the detail. Love your choices. Just wondering what brand felt tip markers you used? New subscriber from Tasmania, Australia.
Thanks for subscribing! I used Mohawk's brush tip markers...I put a link in the description for all products....unfortunately you'll have to look up an Australian distributor. Cheers! 😁
This piece is stunning! Your work is impeccable! Do you watch Angie at transcend furniture gallery? You use alot of the same products. Just curious. Tyfs New sub and love from Texas!

Wow, thank you! Art Deco pieces are all so interesting! 😉
It's so difficult for me to imagine there could be a beautiful restored piece behind all the scratches, crackling and damage.
Simply amazing talent!
When you’ve done enough pieces of furniture you just know! 😂
40:29 In the final reveal, it’s like the cabinet is smiling with joy for its new life ahead. 😮 The contrasts in the new finish are awesome!

Thanks, and I like the "young lady" comment!!! 🤣
You’ve done a magnificent job 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks so much. And thanks for watching! 😃
Thanks for all your hard work on this lovely item…could have been in Poirot’s apartment! And saving it was a good deed when it could have been easily thrown in a landfill.
Thanks. It's certainly from that era! And I agree, every piece that is saved from landfill is a win! 🥰
It looks beautiful, so much work, so rewarding....
Thanks! 😊

Art deco is my absolute favorite furniture era!! You always seem to find such lovely pieces and your work is meticulous!! Thank you for sharing!!
Thanks so much, I am really beginning to like Art Deco the more I work on them.
I admire your commitment, the end result is beautiful. The darker edging really suits the piece, I would have stained the wooden inlays in the glass doors dark as well. Still looks amazing though.

You transformed this cabinet amazingly! If I hadn't seen it, I'd hardly. have believed it.
Thanks. Sometimes you have to see beyond the facade! ☺️
This isn’t a “lipstick on a pig” furniture video. She takes things apart, fixes them properly, and then puts on a nice finish.
@@wilde1909 🤣 I always found that expression funny! But fitting! Thanks for tuning in!

The different veneers are beautiful!
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL resurrection of a sad, nearly ruined piece of furniture -- you've brought history back to life and deserve to be seriously proud of yourself!
How many hours do you think you have in it?
Thanks so much 😍 I didn't keep track but I'd have to guess about 40 hours of work! Definitely not making money on this one! 😂
I love art deco pieces and watching someone else doing it is so nice for tips! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! 😀

Beautifully done and no longer a stinker.
Absolutely, smells like new! 😆
Absolutely gorgeous!!!

Thank you very much! Such kind words, I am blushing ☺️
Beautiful.
It's lovely this piece was saved by so much hard work.
I would have preferred the trim left natural.
Thanks for the kind words and the trim left natural would have definitely given it a different vibe. I try it out on my next Art Deco piece! ☺️
Just WOW!!
Thanks! 😊
Just stunning!
The end result is breathtaking, and I love the handles
I should have mentioned how much I love the handles as well! They are so classy! 😀

I like the hard wax oil finish, brought ought the grain a treat.
And so easy to use! 🙂
She sure is beautiful. I didn’t think I would like the dark but seeing it finished I think you made the right choice. You do amazing work.❤
@@lorettataylor3374 Thanks. I struggled with the decision but am happy with the results.
The dark trim makes for a more dramatic piece - kinda like a great cateye eyeliner!
🤣 It does look a bit dramatic. Certainly a statement piece in any room.
Amazing how it looks now! Just beautiful! Great job! 👍
Thanks so much! It was definitely a challenging restoration! 🤨
I like it the way you did it. It’s beautiful

The darker tones give the cabinet much more character. I think I like it even better than the original colors.
