Omg!! First of all let's applaud the maker of this piece for such a lovely design!! Then let's acknowledge that stunning wood grain revealed under the sad damaged finish!! How about a shout out to Bar Keepers Friend and Restore A Finish (miracle in a can) for bringing the interior back alive!! Of course Gilboys NEVER fails to impress!! And you, the maestro, bringing it all together perfectly!! I could watch your work all day!! Of course Sonny making cookies with his mama was a wonderful bonus!!
Such lovely piece to work on, the amount of effort that has gone into crafting it is amazing. Bar Keepers Friend continues to surprise me, is there anything it can't do?! Thank you very much for your kind words, I really appreciate your continued support of my channel 🤗
I would NEVER have thought to repair the drawer pull that way. What a triumph! It’s wonderful that you could save the original hardware, and the whole piece looks proud of itself.
I certainly wasn't confident initially and was quite sure it would be a disaster but it worked! Who would have thought! Thank you for tuning in and taking the time to comment :)
How unique! A waterfall front secretary - I've seen cedar lined chest with a waterfall front, but nothing like this! Such a beautiful piece; your work really shines. Thank you for sharing your work in this great video!
Yes, it's the same with watercolor or any transparent media. Layering from light to dark builds depth and luminosity. The color of the cabinet is better than it was originally. Great job!
Excellent restoration! I have been restoring for 40 years and there is always something new to learn. I have a dresser from the early 1990 hundreds that I am going to use your techniques on. Thank you so much for sharing!
I wonder where this old piece has been hiding. It's obviously well used. Kudos to the owners for choosing to restore it rather than ditch it. A lot of work needed - you made it look easy!
First, that handle turned out great! You did great. Who would have thought it would turn out so well? You, of course. Second, those cookies are so creative. ❤ Sonny looked like he was have a blast! ❤❤❤
Thank you, I was quite chuffed with the results of the handle and all the positive comments about it are certainly reassuring! Thank you for tuning in :)
You did a fabulous piece of work on this little secretary, it's beautiful! And kudos on reconstructing that handle, it was inspired. Art deco is one of my favorites, and you've revived this beautiful piece and given it the chance to shine again.
What a great piece of furniture. It's so unique in this day and age. That was very clever of you to use wood filler to repair the handle. I did not think it would work. Then you were extra clever in your coloring of the repair. It's the color that really hides the repair material. It definitely looks like the other intact handles.
I was doubtful about the wood filler too but pleased it worked out. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it!
You did a fab job on the broken pull!. I only picked out the bottom right door because the first picture had the lighting show the difference in the depth. I never would have guessed otherwise, such a beautiful job😊😊😊
You restored a GEM! How fortunate to have found this very beautifully functional Deco cabinet. And fortunate that you were the restorer! Well done 👏 A joy to watch!
You made a great transormation once again ..great job on the handle..your little fella is delightful and so smart...i remember when he was in the baby chair in NZ.not so long ago.👍
Another brilliant restoration! If everything was required to turn out perfect, I know I'd be afraid to even try anything. You gave this piece new life for the next hundred years of its life. Thank you for sharing your beautiful family with us!
Thank you very much I was surprised how well the filler worked for the handle repair! Thank you for tuning into my channel again, appreciated as always!
If you didn't point out where the broken handle was, we would have never known which handle was broken and in the wrong place. Such is the great workmanship of the piece. Well done! You bring these old pieces back to life, by your dedication and patience. Again well done. Blessings from Angela of Australia.
Thank you Angela, that is very kind of you. I am certainly very happy with the results of the handle, thank you for the lovely feedback 🤗 I hope all is well in Australia!
@@flipitnation here in Aussieland, we are having some balmy days and definitely its bringing out the pollen and hayfever too. (Sneezing time, overload) LOL. Angela.
Sonny is a smart lil boy. He knew exactly how to make those cookies. So cute 😻 gillboys wax and bar keepers friend wow! Who would’ve thought to use a cleanser on wood? You never disappoint. Always a master craftsman ❤️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Oh a genius on remaking the handle repair 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼
I am so proud of you. And the way you are teaching Sonny how it all works a bit at a time. Pennsylvania but a neighbor tho half way around the globe. Thank you. Gilboy''s looks worthy. Stay well.
Happy Halloween to Sonny too!!! The handle restoration was marvellous!!! David from Mayfield restorations mentioned Simon Gilboy and I've watched some of his videos. A beautiful restoration of piece from a stylish era.
The Gilboys channel has such amazing content, I have learnt so much from their channel. Thank you for watching my video, I really appreciate it :) Happy Halloween!
Absolutely gorgeous - again. Very impressive handle restoration from wood filler!! Looks great - I guessed the wrong one, but really they all looked the “same” to me. Thanks for the video!
All I can add to the various comments is he is one of the talented restorers I have watched and I am glad another piece of history has been saved from the inevitable dumpster. Cheers
What a unique piece to work with. Great lines & stylish hardwear, but all of it needed some TLC. Cole to the rescue- & what a great job. Thank you for saving it & showing us how it's done! Clever repair of the bakelite BTW.
You really did a fantastic job on this one! The walnut just glows! I have a waterfall blanket chest that went through a fire that I have been contemplating restoring. Seeing how well this turned out, has inspired me to try it. The clips of Sonny are a great treat. Love your videos.
When i heard youre getting a table saw this Christmas i teared up a little bit, that means you love doing this a lot and the fact youre sharing something so important to you makes my heart swell, i love humans man, thank you for this wonderful content and i wish you nothing but joy and happiness in your endeavors ❤
Who would have guessed that beautiful grain was hidden under that mess? Your choice of colour for the refinish was excellent . I would never have thought of using Barkeepers Friendfor getting those stains off. Last time we were back in UK with the car I bought 6 ! All the products you use were first rate. I especially love the Gilboys as I am addicted to Chateau Restorations and Chateau de Colombe have used it on their floors with beautiful envy making success. If I was50 years younger I would love to do ours. Great job Thankyou and glad to see Sonny has your eye for detail❤❤👌👌👏👏👏👏
Wow, you definitely brought this back to life! It turned out gorgeous! The handle repair is spot on! It looks just like the others, awesome job! Outstanding transformation its absolutely stunning! Little Sonny is so cute helping Mom decorate the baked goods 😊! Have an awesome week! 😊❤

Kia Ora Cole. Another Kiwi success! As a Scot who met my wandering Kiwi husband in Vancouver Canada, I hope you don’t mind me adopting New Zealand as a second home. We have been there many times but don’t get to see much of the country when we visit. Too much time at the table catching up! Love your stuff. Kia Ora, I can totally relate to the table time catch ups! We are actually quite similar... I am a kiwi who met my British wife in Australia. We now reside in the UK but visit the beautiful NZ for 6 weeks over summer. I am sure you can relate to some of the difficulties being an international family can have, wouldn't change it though :) I am visiting Scotland with my parents next May, my mums great grandparents were Scottish so she has lots of family history she wants to explore. Looking for to it! Thank you for subscribing, I really appreciate it 🤗
Excellent work; I didn't think your pull for the draw would work with filler, good job; I'm trying to restore an old piece of furniture and you've given me a few good ideas. So thank you.
I am pleased you got some ideas from this one! Even I was unsure if the filler would work, pleased it pulled through in the end 😎 thank you for watching!
Well it turned out fantastic. Sonny is so adorable,he reminds me of my youngest son around the same age. Lite blonde hair brown eyes and always willing to help out. I wish you all a very Happy Halloween 🎃😊❤
It is a beautiful piece restored beautifully, 👏 It’s hard to let go on touch-ups when you are a perfectionist, but sometimes that lasts brush stroke can make or break it 🤦♂️

Such a beautiful style of furniture, amazing craftsmanship. They certainly don't make furniture the way they used too. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment 🤗
Another fine piece of work buddy. I was laughing when you realised you’d applied the wood filler directly on top of wood. Great save with the cupboard pull 😀👍
Stunning work! I would guess the bottom right handle but only because it would make most sense to put the repaired pull in exactly that position to best camouflage the imperfection. Well done!
