Fun fact… a standard issue tarp will provide both cover and concealment from MILES lasers if you wrap your entire body in it…
Ground is wet. Sleep here. 0311.
You nailed it
Proud to say I served in 2nd mardiv
2nd mar div fightin fox oooh rah

If it ain't Raining we ain't Training!
Raining Days Were The Best Training Days For This Honorably Discharged Regular Component USMC Infantry Rifleman and Reconnaissance Marine During The Late 80s and Early 90s @ MCB Camp Lejeune ( Onslow County), North Carolina.
I miss the Corps but not this crap. As an 0311 it seemed like those were the only times we went to the field. Wet and miserable.
My son is finishing up his last year in the Corps. He got a huge tattoo of 0311 on his arm.
Love it. Embrace the suck, learn how to build a decent poncho hooch, not what these guys were doing.
When you have a lot of saplings like that, string 550 between 2 small trees, suspend the middle of the poncho from there, then anchor the corners.
I normally would find a tree with an overhanging branch to bungee my poncho hood into, then stake out the corners with bungees.
I've spent many a day in Virginia, Korea, Washington, Panama, and Bragg doing that and managed to stay unusually dry.
Lima 3/2
Kilo 3/8
Loved the job!!
Hated the bullshit!!
Kilo 3/8 here as well. 11-15
I was with 1/2 Charlie back in 01-06 and we would sit in the rain for 10 days or so, no refuge.
Is that the new MILES system? That’s incredible… in my day… we NEVER had the budget to get that level of training. We used simunitions twice and a lot of blanks. But I suppose if we were going to be filmed for “social media” consumption… we probably would have been allocated a larger training allowance.
Bravo 1/8 & Kilo 3/8 from 86 to 89. Good times. 0311/0331.
Bravo Co 85 to 89 super squad 87. Whats up.
What platonn I was with 3rd

Once a Marine, always a Marine! Got out is 1983! They say we guard the Gates of Heaven! New equipment, but Mission never really changes! Only technology changes!
I was raised on the other side of the base and grew up to the bombs rattling the picture frames. This was 20 years ago but it still looks like NC
Where at the back gate Sneads Ferry?

This is a training exercise. Teams wear different uniforms to distinguish friendly forces from foes.

Too many morons like this in charge.

Not me, I love it when it rains in the field.
That's not how you cross a LDA (Liner Danger Area).....oh boy :P
Damn Marines, What happen to the days of getting wet and staying wet?
Tf are you talking about
Even the birds have a large enough brain to get out of the rain. You were wet then… and most likely still are and will be tomorrow… You can’t fix stup1d. Semper Fi.
@@karsonbollinger546 let me clarify… in his day he was too inc0mpetent to use his poncho (no tarp was issued)… and he sees it as an insult that others aren’t following in his soggy footsteps.
Not that we WOULDN'T spend days on end, up to our balls in water, it's that we try not to for as long as we can 😂
But yeah I spent close to three days up to my balls in water 😂
Semper Gumby 🤙
