Bo's car is super clean, he is an awesome guy and has as much love for the 3800 community as the rest of us. I currently daily drive a turbod 3800 for the passed 16 years and have 285,000+ miles on it and beat on it daily at 25-35lbs of boost. The 3800 is an awesome engine paired with one of the worst trannys lol. Glad you finally got to review a 3800, and a great one for that fact.!

We still have our 2003 GS that now my son drives back and forth to school. Ported supercharger, ZZP Headers, high ratio rockers, 3.3 pulley making about 320 hp when it has the performance tune and high octane gas. Detuned, makes 290 all day long, and averaged 27.5 mpg driving 80 plus, for two days on a trip to Florida. Now has 187,000 miles and doesn't burn a drop.I love the car too much to part with it. Plus when I drive it, its fun to roll past people who think its a slow beater.

My dad drove one of these when I was in high school - it was the car I learned to drive on and took my drivers test on the day I turned 16. My parents brought both cars so I could drive home on my own, in the Regal. At the exit of the licensing place, making sure my dad was following directly behind me in my rearview mirror, I turned off traction control and laid a big smoky burnout. I looked back and saw my dad nervously chuckling, maybe a biiit upset. But that was a fun car. Quickest sedan to 60 when it was new at 6.4 seconds. Fun times were had in that Buick.

I bet that car with that indestructible motor would outlast any brand new/newer car made nowadays. Most of the motors in these newer cars internally fail if you're lucky to even get to 200K miles. That's why having an older car is better less maintenance less problems. Having a new car would just break down more constantly and leave you in a money pit to fix.

Also, I will NEVER forget that Sleepers video. That's what first got me interested in the L67 3.8L V6. One of my first cars was a 1989 Chevy Beretta GT with a 2.8 garbage V6 that had blown head gaskets, and I REALLY wanted to swap in a supercharged L67, but I was 15 years old and didn't have any money. I grew up to become a car detailer for multiple dealerships (as I moved alot), and one of them was Ron Slivka Buick in Brandon, Florida (REAL close to Tampa). I drove many GS Buicks and Rivieras, so I grew to really love the L67. This was back in 1999 or 2000. I REALLY wanted to swap the 2.8 out of my Beretta for a L67 and turbocharge it eventually, but I never got the chance to due to me being diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and being given 90 days to live. Obviously I outlived that estimate, but I have always still been left with the hunger. Right now I am on my 69th vehicle since then and I have a 1997 EJ8 Honda Civic coupe with a fully built LSVTEC turbo that makes 709 whp, and I also have a 2004 Acura TL that I am currently turbocharging, so that'll be fun too, with a six speed manual swap. Something has always drawn me back to these L67 swaps though...

2003 Regal GS Joseph Abboud edition was the first nice car I ever owned. Prior to that I had a 93 SHO I purchased for $250 that was all rotted out and the guy who sold it to me stripped out the sub and amp that came stock. The SHO was quick and a little peppier but that Regal was special. I wanted to get a mercury marauder but the prices were insane. When my SHO died and I was shopping for a car in 2007. A 2002 Marauder with 100k miles on it was going for about $15k. I was able to get my mint special edition Regal with only 13k miles on it for $10k. That car was special. The only mods I did were full exhaust, smaller super charger pulley, some intake work and tune. The look on 350z and mustang owners faces was so gratifying when they got left in the dust by the grandpa mobile. They would laugh at me when we lined up and would have an utter look of confusion on their faces when they shifted into second and I rocketed away. The gears were sooooo ridiculously long but that was part of it's charm. You couldn't floor it before 40mph or the tires would break loose but once you had traction it just pulled forever. No pesky gear changes necessary. It used to be able to run the quarter mile without shifting out of second.... I'm sorry if anyone actually read all this as there is no point aside from the fact that it was an extremely special car. The turbo swap wasn't necessary and I remember the guys who did it were disappointed. The same amount of money for the turbo setup could be spent elsewhere with much higher gains. I miss that car so much. She took all the abuse I could throw at her without an issue. It was the sitting that killed it. She needed to be driven and I failed her. I wish I could go back in time and do things differently.

I did this exact thing in highschool, and it's what started my life as a car guy. Gold 2001 Pontiac grand prix gtp with a 6266 ebay turbo kit and all the juice zzp could put at it. Stock 5 spokes fit 225 m/t without an issue and looked like stock tires so it was troll city considering everything from the outside was stock. Full cloth grey interior that smelled like a cigarette, and I never pulled up with less than 2 people in it. Worked on it with the local good ol boys since it was a small town, but we made sure to pull up at shady side every weekend and troll anything and everything in the parking lot. And we weren't worried about blowing anything, at the time these cars could be had for 250-500$ all day long at the auction, so we would just buy another car if stuff broke on the first. We actually killed a couple regale and Bonnevilles before settling on the grand prix. It was the lightest of the w body cars and it took 5 minutes to strip the interior of one and turn them into dirt slayers. God I miss these things. Now a good example is 5k lmfao.

I'm currently working on a '01 Vic. Brakes are done, nothing fancy, PowerStop kit. At the beginning you mentioned 1st Gen Taurus SHO but, showed a 2nd Gen one which is what I had in Black and Tan. Yamaha originally designed the engine with their 5-Valve Genesis head layout derived from their FZR750 and it was putting out around 300 HP. Ford didn't want that much power in a FWD so they detuned it with a 4-valve head. The motor could still rev to 8500 but, they rev limited it to 7300 to save accessories like alternator and A/C compressor. 3800 series are monsters. They put out some good numbers stock. I used to piss my step dad off in my 98 oldsmobile intrigue. He had a stock mustang gt, I had an intake... he couldn't gap my 3.8. The engine and transmission in mine held up to 230k abusive miles and still ran strong when I sold it. I never drove it in drive. U could slam gears in that thing and she took it. Used to start in first, slam second n smoke the tires. Be doin 55 and bump it down to 2nd n pull up to 80. That car took AL kinds of abuse and never had any problems other than water pump.

I HAD a 1991 Buick Regal 2dr custom coupe. I liked that car. It rode really nicely, comfortable.

I work at a Firestone, and someone brought in a Fiero with a sick swap- the supercharged 3.8 from one of these, it was a super cool and really clean swap
