- Welcome back to The Lawn Care Life in Mowssouri channel! We are Mowing Tall Grass on this Steep Hill with the VENTRAC 95" Wide Area Mower Deck! It's the first time I've put the WAM on a steep hill and man I'm impressed! Last year I tackled this job with the Tough Cut deck. This time the Wide Area Mower deck. What a difference!
Starting June 7, 2022 my friend Tony Rudolph over at "Tony's Lawn Care" on UA-cam and "Lawn Care Talk" podcast will be starting the "Lawn Care Brothers Unite - Podcast Challenge." Must be nice to have what dreams are made of. I like that there don't seem to be a delay at all when switching from forward to reverse.
Man the more I watch you with the Ventrac, the more I want one! The ease of operation, and switching is amazing! So jealous brother....
Man it’s a pretty sweet machine! It’s crazy what it’s capable of tackling. Appreciate you watching the channel! 😎💯👍
@@TheLawnCareLifeinMowssouri its an impressive machine. impressed every time we run it
Ohhhhhh yeah! 😎
Coming from someone who works on both a dairy and poultry farm these things are phenomenal when it comes to doing barn work such as clean out when we push the manure out to be spread or even simple tasks like maintaining the lawn and surrounding area
Wow, so cool. That snake scared me and I'm watching this vid from across the country in North Carolina! You made that job look fun, but I know you have a lot of experience. Keep on keeping on!
Thanks for tuning in from North Carolina! I was hoping that the snake didn’t try to get up in the tractor with me lol. Despite the snake encounter, it was a fun job to tackle with the VENTRAC! See you in the next one. 👍😎
I always let the black rat snakes and garter snakes go. They eat bugs and mice. Black rat snakes aren't aggressive and also keep venomous snakes away.
The Ventrac is extremely versatile. Enjoy watching your videos. 🙂🚜🐻 Bear Queensland Oztralia
Ohhhh yeah! Wow, thanks for tuning in from 🇦🇺 😎👍
Extreme painstaking work done with lots of patience and perfection. Keep it up. Well done.
Thank you for watching
Impressive piece of equipment. Nice job operating as well. Great video!
Thank you! Appreciate you watching.
Cameron you've got the machine mastered .
Haha I’m sure trying! The machine can pretty much do it all itself. I just get to enjoy the ride lol. Thanks for watching!
That sure looks fun to ride. Nice job and thanks for the video.
Such a fun machine to use and climbing the hills never gets old! Thank you for checking out the video. I will catch you in the next one!
Howdy awesome looking machine thanks for sharing.
I am completely impressed that you were able to mow that ditch and that snake!!!!!!!! Eeeeeeeek!!!!
It’s unbelievable how the Ventrac can just sneak over wet areas like that! I’m impressed every time lol 😳. And that snake...yeah, exactly!
That thing is a beast !!
I think I’m in love with that machine!
Haha yes!!!! 😍 Thanks for checking out the Ventrac!
Very Nice JOB!!!
Thank you! Appreciate you watching!
Rewatched! You are the man, looking for some new content from you my brother! But I love your old with the Ventrac!
This was a fun one with the 95" deck. Man that thing can take out some tall grass!
Hello from Joplin Missouri I'm new to your blogs but like what I have seen
Just got our new Ventrac ordered. I’m in Missouri as well. Awesome machines
Congrats on the NEW Ventrac! That’s awesome! Which one did you order???? And what part of Mowssouri are you in???
Wish i had the chance to try the ventrac when i worked at Niagara county parks department. The escarpment slope is way worse than this. Due to suicides at Niagara falls, they're forced to weedwhack the escarpment slope with climbers harnesses. No more push mowing it. We've lost alot of mowers at the bottom of the falls. Lol 🤣
Oh wow that is wild! You think the Ventrac could handle it?
What a machine!!
Ohhhh yeah! Thanks for watching, Bill! 👍
Great job Cameron, looking forward to part 2 hopefully without a snake in that one. I'm with you on the trash, it's disgusting to see a nice mow then people trash the roads, people are lazy. But you do good work, Thanks!
Thank you! Part 2 will be coming soon...can’t promise anything on the snake though lol. It’s a constant battle keeping some of my commercial properties maintained without a ton of trash collecting on them. People are so lazy. That’s very true. Appreciate you watching!
Love the Ventrac! You do a great job presenting the product.... you have a great voice for the camera as well!
Thanks a lot
That`s awesome
Thanks for watching! Pretty fun machine.
That handled the water filled ditch like a champ! I kept waiting for you to get stuck but no problem for the mower
It's unbelievable how it sneaks through those wet areas with no problem! Thanks for taking the time to watch!
I'm impressed that the Ventrac handles such a steep hill. Nice work!
Thanks a lot! Yeah, it’s unbelievable how it crawls over these hills so easily. The duals and low center of gravity make all the difference. Appreciate you watching! 😎👍💯
Nice job!! 😎👍
True story: Now when I see guys clearing tall grass on the highway I think of you and say "Mooowzouri!" 😁👍 My sister didn't know what I was talking about and she asked me to let her drive 😂🤣
Over a year ago, I started reviewing this piece of equipment and watched it make chnges to its ad-ons. Eight wheels, wider cut, more stability. It just keeps getting better! Well done!
Yeah, this machine is something else. They keep making better attachments and improving the equipment. Can’t ask for much more than that.
Great job Respect
Thanks for watching!
Nice job
Thank you! Appreciate you watching.
I did grounds care for a local school district for 35 years. The last mower I had was a John Deere F1145 front mower. 4WD 28 hp Yanmar. 72 inch front deck with mulch kit. I mowed a bank at our High School that was so steep you did not it on your butt while you climbed it. You were laying on your back. climbed it with the deck raised then as soon as the deck bumped the guard rail for the street that ran along the top of the bank, I lowered the deck and let it mow as I backed down. I had to mow it on Saturday because of cars parked in the parking lot. I actually stopped traffic because people wanted to watch. Even made the local paper. Forgot to mention it was equipped with Curtis hard cab. and even with turf tires that John Deere was just a wonderful snowplowing machine.
Those were the evil Knievel days for sure. Let er rip and hold on til you make it to the top lol. Thankfully they have safer machines out there now. No more laying on your back to get to the top. Kick back, relax, and let the machine do all of the hard work. I wonder what they use to mow that school district nowadays? It would be interesting to see for sure.
Thanks for the info. I am looking at getting one of these.
No problem! Let me know if you have any questions. It's an awesome machine! Thanks for watching!
That's a ripping mower the tractor part doesn't even flinch at the tall stuff.good machine.
Solid machine for sure. Appreciate you taking the time to watch the Ventrac work. 💯
Excelente trabalho, seguidor aqui do Brasil
Thanks for watching!
Impressive. We own three farms and every one has highway or secondary road frontage, it is a constant battle to keep the trash picked up. As for snakes, we have them, but only eliminate rattlers as we have grand kids often. Non venomous snakes are good for pest control.
We are in Arizona right now, and there’s no trash along the roads. Definitely different from what it is like in Mowssouri. Where do you live?
@@TheLawnCareLifeinMowssouri The "Bootheel" AKA "Swampeast Missouri".
That’s an awesome machine. I start in Mo Zery on Monday. Running farm tractors pulling brush hoggs or driving a Zentac 4500 or 4520’s cleaning up after the tractors.
Yeah, it's a crazy wild machine! Have fun out there. Appreciate you watching! 💯

Just a update on the new job.
( kinda late in the year to start but there’s always next year ! )
2 weeks in and I’m loving the ventrac world !!!
We are cutting all the major highways in the St Louis area. Not the same as mowing fields… lol..
Have a great my friend and Mow on !!!
WOW!
Okay, let’s see what this monster can do!!😃
Haha yes! Thanks for watching! 💯
Ventrac rule steep side hills.ventrac owner my self love my 72" mower.
Ohhhhh yeah! Do you have any other attachments?! Are you mowing steep areas or mainly flat areas with your 72” mower?!
People seem to just throw trash out of the car. So sad. Love the mow.
Yes it is. Thanks so much. Appreciate you taking the time to watch.
Dude...I watched this video up in MN 3 weeks ago...trying to turn on a few more viewers. 👍
That’s AWESOME! Thanks for taking me to MN with you. Appreciate the continued support! 💯 😎👍
I work for a mowing co. We hit sticks
Bottles paper and all sorts of things. Just keep going. Nothing stops ups unless it's a log bigger than my arm
Enjoy your content
Thank you! Appreciate the support! 😎 💯👍
I'm completely sold on Ventrac, just haven't found a way to afford it yet. I like how the new Tough Cut doesn't have the Jack stand.
Ventrac is awesome! Pick up a few jobs, it will pay for itself in no time! I would love to have the new Tough Cut. Definitely an upgrade. It’s pretty “Tough” to raise the deck on the old one. Thanks again for watching!
It’s nice to see videos like this for people like myself who will be maintaining similar situations. I am curious as to what psi your running in inside and outside tires
This machine really excels on this type of work. Unbelievable how easy it can maneuver on this type of terrain. I run around 10 psi in the Inner and 8 psi in the outer. Appreciate you taking the time to watch!
I have a few zero turns and cut a lot of grass. The Ventrac looks like a nice machine but I have to have a side discharge deck with a gate on the shoot to close when needed. That sqealing in the steering would get annoying. Low on hydraulic fluid ? I like it. Low ground pressure. Seems to have plenty of power.
They have regular mower decks with the side discharge, but I've never used on before. The infamous squealing noise comes from the hydros. It is designed that way. BUT, they have a newer model out now and they've eliminated a lot of that annoying squealing noise. It doesn't bother me though, especially with my headset on. Appreciate you checking it out.
I wonder how some Kavli finisha blades would do on the 95”? Ventrac always doing work! Thank you for the video and your hard work.
I’m not sure, I’ve never heard of them. Have you used them before? If so, what did you try them on? Appreciate you taking the time to watch the video!
@@TheLawnCareLifeinMowssouri I have used them with an Exmark Turf Tracer cutting some thick St Augustine and Very tall Bahia.I personally think the blades are great and always wondered how good they would be on a Ventrac.
Edit: it’s been 2 weeks since I posted this response. If you want to check out the Kavli Blades you can see them put to the test on the Something 2Lookat channel.
I seriously need one of these machines there is a bunch of work in my area for this
Ohhhh yeah! That would be cool 😎. It’s fun cleaning up these overgrown areas.
Two questions. #1- How do you like the rear discharge vs the side discharge on "normal" grass for weekly mowing? #2- Where do you go to look for jobs like that?
Hey Rick! Thanks for watching. I like the rear discharge. I don’t think one is better than the other really. I prefer not throwing grass out the side especially around roads, houses, buildings, cars, etc. It definitely reduces your chances of throwing a rock or stick into a window, etc. To answer your second question, the customers always contact me for their lawn care needs. We live in a small town so words get around pretty quick. Appreciate you watching. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Great video. The 95in deck looks impressive but do you think it was any faster than the tough cut? It looked like you had a foot or so of overlap. You should get mulching blades for it and see if that helps the windrowing. The grass does not have to be very long before it starts windrowing.
Thanks! Appreciate you watching. The 95” deck is a lot faster than the Tough Cut. And it leaves a lot better cut if you’re knocking out tall grass. I would like to try out some mulching blades! I think they would work pretty good. It definitely windrows when the grass is very tall. Thanks again for watching. Catch you in the next one!
💯
Ohhhhh yeah! Thanks for checking out the vid! 😎
Please tell me you don’t have the flat facing towards the traffic supposed to be facing the opposite from the traffic you hit a rock or something you can’t see and boom bus vehicle one lot worse because we have a guy cutting grass and he left his flap open and he’s cutting towards the highwayand it didn’t hit nobody vehicle but it sure hit me my shoulder
Yeah, always throw debris away from the road. Throttle down and turn off pto when facing the highway. Good tip! Thanks for watching.
If you bothered to look you’d notice there is no exit for grass on either side bro.
Rear discharge deck.
@@bobbystewart2605 Exactly.
Thanks for this great video. I’m considering the 95” deck but was cautioned by some that it would only work on properly maintained yards having about 3-4 inches of growth. But your video disproves those theories with the deck cutting 3 FEET of grass, let alone 3 inches!
Are you still using this 95” deck for cutting?
Thanks for watching the video! I will say that the 95 inch wide area mower will knock down some really tall grass. But if you want to look very manicured, I wouldn’t take off more than a couple of inches of growth. It just doesn’t do extremely well with weekly cutting. If you can get to it every four or five days, that would be best with this particular deck. I don’t have this deck any longer. I decided not to buy it. I was just trying it out at the time. Thanks again for watching!
There are Fiskars or Taleasy fabric folding barrels which might be bigger and lighter. Or garden waste bags.
Yeah, I’ve used those bags in the past. But the new ones just don’t hold up. They fall apart pretty quick.
@@TheLawnCareLifeinMowssouri try AMLeonard yard bags
I’ve never tried those. I’ll have to check em out!
Whats your thoughts on the BIG 95 inch? Looks like it mowed very well!
I like it! For a perfect manicured look, you really need to stay on top of the mowing and cut a little higher. You can cut every 2 weeks with it, but it will windrow the grass just like a side discharge mowing every 2 weeks. It’s a little harder to disperse the clippings if you double cut, so if you’re looking for a perfect manicured finish then you would want to stay weekly only with the WAM.
@@TheLawnCareLifeinMowssouri thanks for the info brother!
Great video, a couple questions. How is that big deck holding up structurally and how does it handle uneven ground (lumpy, not exactly fine graded turf, reclaimed farm field, etc)?
I used it for about 6 months and had to send it back as it was a demo unit. Held up great though. It has a big steel roller on the back of it. Makes scalping a non issue. Does extremely well on uneven terrain. Appreciate you watching.
Mowing that ditch was way faster than weed wacking it
A B S O L U T E L Y ! ! ! 👍😃💯 Thanks for watching!
So cool to watch. Do you own that machine?
Yeah, I got to try it out last season and decided to keep it for the business. It’s a wild machine. Thanks for watching!
Strange !! ! Looking ! ZZ ! TOP ! CAR ! THIS !! HEY ! BILLY ! GIBBINS !
😊👍
Thanks for watching!
Do you allow your lawns to get that long before mowing them?, so why are these left to get so long?
Some of these overgrown jobs are on schedule for every few months. They just want to keep it somewhat manageable. Thanks for checking out the vid.
Just a little advice go up and down slopes not across them other then that great job that's a awesome mower
For hills that are more steep, I’ll go up and down. But for this slope, it’s 10 times quicker to run the length of the hill. Hope that makes sense. Appreciate you taking the time to watch! I’ll be posting another video soon of running up and down a steeper slope.
@@TheLawnCareLifeinMowssouri just dont wanna see anyone get hurt. Great video
That was a great answer. My zero turn handles my 0.25 roadway that looks just like that. It is on the edge and my pond has steeper areas that require up and down. And still other areas that I use a weed whacker. Would like something safer and more productive. Thanks, especially for the steeper stuff. @TheLawnCareLifeinMowssouri
And that snake was huuge
lol ohhh yeah. Thanks for watching!
I mow with a 4700 Kubota with a 6 foot brush cutter. How would the Ventrac compare?
Hey Bryan! I’ve never used the 4700 Kubota. The neat thing about the Ventrac is that your attachments are out front. So you can see a little better and you don’t run over the brush before the cutter comes through and knocks it down. Thanks for watching!
What was your cut hight, hi or low range?
Height of cut was 4” and always have to run in low range when tackling hills like this. Thanks for watching!
That nope rope
Doing this is more interesting than it may appear. You never know what you will run over/into when mowing a roadside; debris from car wrecks, dead animals, kitchen appliances, etc.
Exactly! It’s always a surprise. I can be careful and cautious, but there will always be something hiding underneath. Thanks for watching!
Are the blades sharp?. Seems like lots of mohawking .
Sharp blades, but just tough wiry grass and weeds. Thanks for watching!
I’d have to pull a trailer behind the Ventrac because I guarantee you that our railroad overpass has way more trash and the DOT tractors mow right through there.
Oh yeah. I wish there was a machine made like a mower and all you had to do was drive it around and suck up all the trash. A big giant vacuum. Now that would be nice.
Can’t find Part 2?
Can you post a link for the square barrel?
Sure thing! www.thesquarebarrel.com
My 36” Murray could do that in half the time. 😂
Haha yes! Just send it! 🤠
Slick dude how much do those go for?? Cant find one here in new zealand i dont think they make em here noooo its beast
Yeah, they are pretty crazy machines! The tractors are around $26000 USD and the attachments are another $7000 USD or so. Appreciate you watching from New Zealand!!! That's awesome! 😎
Ô potência
So much power! Thanks for watching! Where are you tuning in from?
I’ve noticed in some of your videos u have ventrac w/ a grey hood and in this one a white hood. Is there any difference between the two?
It's the same tractor. I decided to give it a little makeover and change the color up a bit. Thanks for asking. And thanks for watching!
Nice machine.
lots of tall grass left behind uncut?
It’s really made for mowing every 4-5 days with the rear discharge, but had to try it out on the overgrown hillside.
Like Ventrac but damn so expensive..
when I moved from Pa. to Missouri, one of the first thing I noticed was all the empty 12 pack cases{mostly Busch beer} along the roads, especially near convienece stores. My friend reasoned that if you throw it by a mailbox or someone's front yard, they will pick it up. Never understood that reasoning for littering.
Lol...that sounds all too true for here as well. I mark it down as ppl are just lazy. Lazy and miserable lol. So they trash what others try to keep clean. Appreciate you watching the video. Hopefully Mowssouri has been better to you despite all the trash you’ve seen laying around.
Is that where you stuck the Ventrac last year?
Similar area, but no this is a difference place.
If you coming to PR You need a Dump Truck to Clean the roads
Oh wow! That bad huh?! The city actually contacted me to see if I had a piece of equipment that would efficiently suck up all the trash in the medians. Not really sure if there’s anything out there big enough to do that. It would be nice if there was. Appreciate you watching!
You need to somehow mount the square barrel on your 3-point. That way if you run across trash while mowing you will have somewhere to put it.
Man that’s a great idea! I could probably strap it to the ROPS somehow. 💡
I bought the Artillian ROPS mount for mine. Got the chainsaw holder and a big basket. Works great for your cooler, trash etc etc. plus they have a bunch of attachments to put on it.
@@arlisspropertyservicesllc5943 I really need to check them out more! Their products look pretty cool.
@@TheLawnCareLifeinMowssouri I love mine! When heading out to do tree cleanup its nice to be able to mount the saw, bring all the oil,gas tools and cooler and NOT have it bouncing around in the bucket. Oh, and they, like Ventrac are proud of their stuff too.

❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for watching!
It looks like your machine is really struggling with the length of grass, and that the cut is too low.
I noticed some wind-rows left behind the mower. I don't think the WAM was intended to mow high grass. I hate the look of dead brown grass laying on top of the lawn..
For 3FT tall grass that hasn’t been mowed all year, it did great! I would be glad to maintain it weekly, but this one is typically a monthly cut. So windrows will always be a thing. Appreciate you watching!
I noticed you are not wearing gloves!...i suggest you should because picking-up those rubbish might infect you with multiple bacterias!..don't take it for granted!..."YOUR HEALTH IS WEALTH!"....

That’s a really cool idea. Any suggestions on where to find one???
You don’t find that in Canada
No Ventrac in Canada? That’s a bummer…
Isn't that the States responsibility ?
Just down along the road. The business owner takes care of the rest of the hillside. Gotta keep it maintained and looking decent. I would mow it every single week if I own the place. Excellent location with highway frontage. Thanks for watching.
GET TO, YOU ARE SITTING ON A MOWER RIDING AROUND IN CIRCLES.
wonder if the rat made it out alive 11:55 :P
guess he did at 12:55 lmao
Lol there were several rats. One of them ended up under my Square Barrel cover 😳. Should have had my camera on when I went to get that cover laying on the ground lol.
You could save yourself 15min of job time by putting a steering knob on the wheel?..........I would be mad if there were not ones on mine!
Haha...some ppl love em. I don't really care for them unless it's a big steering wheel. This machine articulates and has power steering so it's not a big deal. But some of those pieces of equipment NEED them to operate efficiently. Appreciate you taking the time to watch the video! 👍

Seems irresponsible to destroy habitat for pollinating insects. Your client needs to be better educated.
People do not like to watch the mowing from the top of the vehicle. Either from the side view or the timelapse.
Ok, thanks for the feedback! Would you rather have time lapse with or without music?
I disagree. The top view offers another perspective, which I happen to like seeing.
