    This is an awesome video and is exactly what I was looking for. I own four 2TB Samsung Shield T7 SSDs, and I wanted an internal breakdown, and this video went above my expectations. Great job.

      @@psi-ops1397 One of my 2 Samsung T7 shield SSD's is also not working anymore after 1 year. The LED doesn't light up and the drive doesn't show up. (The other one is never used and still works. That way I know the problem is in the drive and not a cable- or computer-issue.) I think the USB-C port is the issue... Have you found a good way to fix the problem?

    • @psi-ops1397
      @psi-ops1397 4 місяці тому

      @@LJArnoud I haven't...I've tried different cables, and found that my issue is definitely the port. Luckily, I backed everything up to a western digital. Crazy, because I only used this drive for 2 months, before I started having issues. I rarely used it too. It's been a complete waste of money. They could have at least put a usb-a port on there also.
      I'm using a 6 year old Samsung Galaxy S10, that has been plugged and unplugged thousands of times, with no port issues whatsoever. Yet this drive lasted 2 months. Complete garbage!

    I bought this because SanDisk and WD are in court with class actions for selling defective versions of the equivalent product.
    I have an older SanDisk ext SDD which is very plasticky and gets red hot to the touch even when idling !
    Its pre the class action defective product but I needed a third back up for my memories, so I chose this drive.
    Its really solid and as fast as I could expect given the limitations of the USB ports on my laptop !

    Could you remove the rubber jacket as a first step?
    Like, without removing the sticker and screwing it open...

    • @AMID2025
      @AMID2025  Рік тому

      Sorry about the late reply, I didn't see your comment. Yeah, you can take off the rubber first, but you have to do so very carefully otherwise it could snap so I recommend removing the plastic first then the next steps

    Why does it have holes in the back? Are they trying to make it lose water resistance as the glue of the sticker weakens over time?

    it would be great if there's less movement, the constant move makes it hard to see details. For example, I'm trying to see if the thermal pad is making contact with the metal casing, because thermal pad is flat where as the casing is not. Also trying to see details of the circuit board, what's the controller chip, what's the NAND chip etc..... all is moving, difficult to see details. It's a good video, could be great if everything moves less.

    I wonder how much cooler it would run if the rubber sleeve (the “shield”) was left off during use? Mine gets quite warm.

    • @AMID2025
      @AMID2025  Рік тому

      Yeah, I think it might run a bit cooler if the rubber wasn't on because the rubber is an insulator and makes it become warm

    Question, do you think the t7 shield has the same dimensions as the regular t7 if the outside rubber is removed?

    • @AMID2025
      @AMID2025  Рік тому

      The t7 shield is a little bigger sue to the rubber hence making the dimensions a bit bigger then the regular t7. Compare some images on Google and you can see that the rubber t7 is a bit bigger

    Thank you….. the highlight for me was 2.52… ‘none-distractive removal of rubber… meaning I don’t need to buy t7 ssd holders which are bulky.. the tiny SmallRig t5 holders are cheap and perfect. And the rubber can fit over the drive and holder… super slik and inconspicuous

    My computer wont recognize my samsung t7 shield drive. Honestly pretty pissed, i cant find any thing online that has my exact issue and tech support just straight up didnt know how to help and told me to try it on another computer and ended the chat.
    My issue is my computer makes the dinging noise like a drive is plugged in but doesnt show up in the drive section, and the only place i can find the drive is in the devices and printers section in the control panel and the device manager but no where i can actually open the drive to get the footage off. Anyone know how to access it or at least any ideas? 🙏

    If I store data on it and don’t use it for a year or more , will be my data still readable on it ?

    • @AMID2025
      @AMID2025  Рік тому

      Hi, thanks for watching and commenting! Sorry for the delay in replying. Yes, it will because that's the purpose of the product - to store things. As long as it works fine, your data will not disappear but just in case, I always keep an extra back up.

    • @tiziocaio8657
      @tiziocaio8657 Рік тому +1

      Since it’s an SSD it could lost some data if you don’t use it for a year

    • @Mom19
      @Mom19 Рік тому

      @@tiziocaio8657 no they dont. It would take a looong time to actually loose data tho. RAM Flash looses its data instantly when it stops receiving power. HDDs are also succeptable for loosing data if they loose their magnetism on the platter (also takes a bunch of time, heat or strong external magnetism)

    • @PVivekmca
      @PVivekmca Рік тому

      use it regularly else you may lose data. not because of inside memory but formation of fungus in connectors

    • @lauraeva57
      @lauraeva57 3 місяці тому

      Usage of a SSD has no bearing on stored data. The data is stored as micro- Coulombs of charge on microscopic transistors which will only see power if being written to or read from.
      To best preserve data every 4 to 5 years re-write the files from a newer back-up.
      Most SSD transistors are good for 50 to 100 write / read cycles and won't degrade for 50 years.
      Its good to power up mechanical HDDs every year because they're umm ... mechanical, and need to spin not seize, and the magnetic data has similar constraints as an SSD.
      I have 20 year old clunky hard drives which have no corruption, my oldest SSD is just five years old.
