Alice Cooper brought music and theatre together better than any rock act in history. I was in attendance at his 1979 tour and recall the dancing bottles, along with so many other memorable moments. Legend is not a strong enough word to describe this man.
Legend indeed. I met him once. I’m a flight attendant and one of my pilots recently told me a story that when he was deadheading in first class he was sitting next to Alice. He said that he was a complete gentleman and shook hands with everyone who recognized him. Class act.
Love Alice!Nice to see a clip of the great bassist Prakash John performing during his stint with Alice.Prakash is still playing up a storm and he's a Canadian treasure.
i was a young teen around this time and saw alice at the arizona state fair. the crowd was scary to me then, seemed like all bikers and hard partyers. the show was an incredible blend of rock and theater, with animals, motorcycles, midgets, young women in scant costumes, etc.. at one point alice was put into a guillotine, had his head chopped off, then his headless body carried his head to the front of the stage. epic! what a performer.
there are only a handful of "rock" acts that I have seen pull this music/visual blend off well. Alice, Gwar, Laurie Anderson, Cornelius, U2... and I have not seen Pink Floyd or Waters solo but easy assumption for them too. Maybe Kiss too, but never saw them either.
I remember as a kid struggling to stay awake for “The Midnight Special” to watch Alice Cooper. I’m not such a fan of classic rock in general, but I love this man with a passion! I saw him live last summer. He was amazing!
I remember seeing this show when it first broadcast. I still have my original cassette of this album. I watched this on my 12" black and white TV using my antenna which I hung on the ceiling of my room 😄
One true thing about Alice Cooper was that he was brutal but truthful. Here, he's singing about his stay in asylum for alcoholism. Each character was based on actual people in the asylum. One big party going on! 🥳 Happy Friday 🥳 Thank you for sharing! 💖
From the Inside was a good album. One of his best ones as a solo artist in my opinion. He went a little softer on that album. Another goodie from the Burt Sugarman vault.
@@JQ127-c4e Those are two GREAT albums that should get more respect as time goes on. I'd add the School's out album too. Amazing tunes and creativity on that album. It's a lot more than just the "School's Out" song.
@jimdep6542 Oh definitely. I love School's Out! Slightly off topic but I just read Dennis Dunaway's book about the band and if you haven't read it definitely check it out. Excellent book tho AC really stabbed those guys in the back. Sad how it all ended.
@@JQ127-c4e Yes, I read it a couple years ago and still have it. Dennis's book is great and was interesting to read about some people in the music business that they crossed paths with. I loved his cough syrup drugged out early days.....LOL. AC really did throw those guys under a bus to promote himself. I lost interest after School's Out. Billion Dollar babies just didn't resonate with me. Really sad about Glen Buxton. I enjoyed his lead playing and the guy needed help.
@@jimdep6542 They were such a great band. The songs were so well written and arranged. It's too bad they couldn't have found anther singer and carried on.
From the inside of just been released and I was about to become a freshman in high school, but first was that Alice Cooper concert in Alpine valley with Eddie Money and Blondie.
That' some top notch entertainment! Great song, great singing/stage presense, great band and a tight, funny vaudevillish number. Wish his last WB record had got better airplace, so Alice would stay thqt glorious, original, intriguing artist, with some fantastic songwriting. After the excellent Dada his career went on a three year hiatus, after that he returned heavy metal and nowadays it bacame just one more band, on a sideshow act.
I'm going to tell a lie like a lot on UA-cam do. I was in the audience I seen them live. One of the best groups ever on the midnight special I also seen two concerts of Alice Cooper.
From the Inside, Goes to Hell and Nightmare were Cooper's most artistic records. He was back on the sauce by the time this show happened and he looks terrible. But he can still sing and remember lyrics (seems hardly anyone memorizes lyrics today given sophisticated teleprompters). Dick Wagner must have been unavailable for this show. Thanks for posting. Keep them coming!
Dick Wagner did not tour with Cooper on the FROM THE INSIDE TOUR.....MADHOUSE ROCK. Davey Johnston (elton john) was his live lead with Hunter for this tour, and here.
The checkerboard floor symbolizes base level consciousness, just like the octagon (stop sign, fighting cage, etc.) projects trapped consciousness into the human subconscious mind.

Peter Gabriel cited Alice Cooper as one of his inspirations.

He was amazing on Rock and Roll Animal!
This was the first concert I ever attended at 12 years old. I was dumbstruck. Great show.

That sounds like the 1977/78 King Of The Silver Screen Tour (in support of "Lace And Whiskey".

That was great. I can never get enough Alice Cooper.
For 1979, this sure beat the hell out of disco.....didn't it ?
🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Best thing I've seen on UA-cam all year!🤘🏼🤘🏼
damn, that was hot! excellent post. that's Davey Johnstone back there on guitar, too.
What a fun stage show! 😃✌🏼
Alice Cooper sure had some great moves. He knew how to work that stage.
His wife was a dancer 💃 who toured with him starting with the Welcome to my nightmare tour.

Awesome album!!
Love this album.
To the people of *The Midnight Special* a BIG thanks for uploading!!!❤

Wow sounds great
That was a great performance!

Very creative and great show....but I still like the original AC band the best.
They're light years ahead of this stuff. This wouldn't even be an outtake on Killer or Love It To Death.

Cool, unbeatable group
His best album!
That's debatable of course but I think it's my favorite album from Coop. The lyrics of From The Inside are SO real and just cut to the bone.
Great album - but I have to go with Goes to Hell.
Welcome to My Nightmare
Killer or Love It To Death. This ain't even close to his best.
@@JQ127-c4eHIS best? This is solo Alice! The Band and the solo Artist are 2 completely different entitys!
I saw Alice a few months ago and man, he looks a lot better at his current age in 2024 than he did in 1979. Glad he got on a good path.
Great album and Alice mention that is his favorite
He should do This Song now, with the Dancing Alcohol bottles, followed by Serious, Nurse Rozetta & The Quiet Room!
From the inside of just been released and I was about to become a freshman in high school, but first was that Alice Cooper concert in Alpine valley with Eddie Money and Blondie.
Unbelievable when music was great
A From The Inside movie (sort of like the Welcome To My Nightmare TV special) would have been great

Killer song!!!
I remember this show.
He was a guest host, but had a mask on never spoke a word, so Wolfman Jack did all the talking for him
From the great but forgotten From The Inside album
This and Goes To Hell are great but not well remembered thanks for this treat ❤
He's still on tour

Is that longtime Elton John guitarist Davey Johnstone in the band? I know Bernie Taupin co-wote some songs on this album
Mad House Rock tour!!!!

Oh My God! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
... The Midnight Special... Discaralhaço do final dos anos 70, desta lenda 'viva' chamada 'Alice In Midnight'... 🤘🏻💀💭... Yeah..!!
Say what you want about Alice.... that man knew how to put a fuckin show on.
❤❤❤❤❤❤Alice Cooper❤❤❤❤
Is it' LIVE or MeMorex ?
It's LIVE BABY!!😁🤟
backing vox on tape I think...identical to album.
Is Davey Johnstone one of the guitar players?
Yes.
he's the man
Poison please
He was sick during this time recovering from alcohol
He was smoking crack
MY KINDA
SCOTCH 😊
Weed Me
Dancing bottles of alcohol - lol
Freemason stage floor.

david foster and alice cooper not a good combination
The music sounds great, but that’s the worst I ever saw Alice look.
