Ruined the mans day leaving him stranded like I smell a serious law suit. Hertz really sucks and so do the New Orleans PD. Where did they go to school, learn geography. SMH!
That officer was rude
The officer was disrespectful and "HE" could have been responsible for escalating this situation. This may not be the right career for this office.
The cop has a horrible attitude, hands down. He came of highly annoyed and irritated. For no reason.
I never been asked to show a passport at a rental company
THEY ALL MEED TO BE FIRED.THEN GO TAKE HISTORY CLASS,SMH😮
The level of education in the US is pitiful.
It looks like someone didn't. Pay attention in school..
Just to show that officer that this man is a gentleman and has more class than that officer and that woman
Hes going to be deported to us 😂😂😂😂
Hertz and the police department needs to do a better job!!!!! Where is the officer body camera????? Sued!!!!
hertz called police said 'help help he wont leave'
in no version of that story does the police arrive and say 'sir you have every right to stand here complaining after you have been denied service and ejected, maam.. rent this guy a car'
this happens to locals all the time.. for some reason people think that a reservation is some kind of 'right to service' and it is commonplace for them to want a police response, expecting them to order the merchant to surrender a vehicle
dude has every right to complain and probably wouldve prevailed if he had called the 800# or somebody above this person who knew that PR is part of America - but that aint the cops
So ignorance. Check before you talk. The police officer was so rude to him. Why only soanish people have to go through this. Unavailable. Am from puertorico. We have our rights. That employeee should be fired.
I'm surprised the Manager didn't have this knowledge. Also, Y doesn't Hertz have a list hanging up reminding workers of valid IDs? I use 2 b a teller, n corner of our window was a list of IDs that we accepted. Very poor leadership. This guy didn't deserve 2 b treated n this matter due to ignorance.
That person who said stay in puerto rico . You stay in ur country too. We all are immigrants. The owner of this land were indians. . We are immigrants to usa. Need to go back to school
Many US citizen doesn't even know that Samoan and people from Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, US Virgin Islands are US Nationals.
Company should slightly change the company name 2 from hertz 2 hurts.
Marchan said he felt like a “second class citizen”. Yes, the policeman AND the Hertz attendant were wrong, BUT, Puerto Rico has chosen to be a commonwealth, not a STATE (since July 25, 1952), and this causes great confusión to many folks in the 50 states, who, not out of hate nor evil intent, but rather simple ignorance (ignorance is not evil, it just means you do not know EVERYTHING, and nobody reading this can truly say they know EVERYTHING they SHOULD know). So, until the people AND governments of PR and the US determine definitively to make PR a full fledged STATE, this is going to happen again, and again, and again… and again. This has happened to ME at different levels in my life (I lived in PR for 20+ years) and several times doing financial transactions of different sorts I had to wait for some form of currency “validation” to take place, out of a bank teller’s ignorance not knowing that Puertorrican dollars were actually US dollars. The ignoramus just thought he was following procedures, it’s not his fault that his history teachers in Kenosha, WI, never went into the complexities of Puertorrican history/politics/US Constitution’s Territorial Clause, to understand that no, PR is not a foreign land. This was not racism, this was not malintent, it was simple ignorance from a tired attendant and a tired police officer who will learn something from this, if we give them a chance, unless we ourselves are the very same bigots we say we hate. And yes, this does make Puertorricans end up being treated/feeling like 2nd class citizens, and until Puerto Rico definitively forces the issue of commonwealth vs. statehood, it will always be that way.
I think you're a little offbase here, J. Regardless of PR's status or their ignorance, there was NO reason for Hertz or the Police to treat this man as they did. Based on the video--the cop was way worse than the Hertz employee. He was downright condescending. No matter where in the world the man came from there is no reason to speak to someone in that manner when they are rightfully trying to get the good/service they've paid for.
@@robalf96 The report showed the Hertz policy stating he did not need a passport, so it was an employee who was wrong (yes, Hertz needs to do better training, but so do 99.999% of companies). And the video did show the police officer doing it wrong, but after multiple times (video was cut short, so neither you nor I have seen all that led to the officer’s frustration, misguided though he was), he was finally looking to put an end to this. The customer was right, it was unfair, and life really sucks sometimes. But if PR was a state, there’d be no confusion about this. Governmental policies have real world impacts to individuals, many times in very unexpected ways. You have not been on the receiving end of this PR situation. I have. I’m sure you know a lot of things I know very little about, and to these items, I gladly defer to you.
@@jeg5gom Gomez.....dude! grow up! The Police officer was rude and frustrated due to his own ignorance. He needs to be fired. His behavior was unacceptable and his education poor at best.

How how ???????? You have a job working with travelers and you don’t know Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory????? Education matters!
Sorry to Puerto Ricans on behalf of African American Hertz counter rep, she obviously failed geography class in high school.
Dont u love when the employees are wrong, they're mad ur recording, and then try and trespass u.. fools.. 😂😂😂🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿
Good cop candidate for University City Police, Missouri
I’m still here dude😂😂
Repport the cop to i.A.b
why the fuck is this happening all of a sudden?
Free PR
SPEAKING PORTRICICAN 😂😂😂😂😂HERTZ DOUNIT SECOND CLASS😂😂😂
My dog and my cat, are more intelligent than those people at Hertz big time,
They would ask anyone out of state for a passport and license .... Literally nothing to do with what other state had nothing to do with him being puerto rican.
Ppl are soooo F*cking slow..like really slow.
To quote the great philosopher Forrest Gump stupid is a stupid does and you can't fix stupid I would love to see him call immigration ice so we can look stupid as hell
A fall refunded bullshit.. This man needs to get some reputation alI So..
Think it's horrible I also question if the boarder thing has got them confused he's not someone that came illegally like it's totally different due to ignorance and what's going on today he was mixed up in all of it and that's sad
The officer needs to be sent to Puerto Rico get retrained on how to de-escalate. I bet if he was white that conversation would have a very different approach. As for the employees they need to be terminated or relocated to an area where there are less tourists to deal with.
He was white. Just happens to be Puerto Rican. Are you blind?
We can use Id from puerto Rico. We are citizen Heloooo.
You guys can see the full clip in Instagram
Cop was a dick and customer service girl was also a dick. She can see that he rented before. And she should have double checked before ego showed up. In my opinion. Officer was no help what's so ever.
get over it uber it
To all my Puerto Rican people, do not rent hertz anymore in the USA or in our country Puerto Rico we as Puerto rican did not fight all the wars for United States had to be disrespected, By this woman or officer.
Puerto Rico shouldn´t be a Colony of the USA. That´s what is actually ridiculous.
She told her manager, Girlll I ain’t know that Mexican allowed to rent a car.
As an American, do I need my Passport to visit Puerto Rico? But this guy should have been given a car and warned to bring it next time. American laws are all screwed up anyways, but double standards suck.
you don't need a passport to visit Puerto Rico because PR is an US territory
boy , you're really one of those e-diot
You can not be this stupid
You don't need a passport to enter PR 😂😂😂 Please educate yourself.
Puerto Rico should just become its own country.
Nobody died, nobody was hurt! DISCRIMINATION HAPPENS EVERYDAY EVERYWHERE! This shit aint news and doesnt deserve a whole headliner bffr
People gotta die or be hurt to make a local news segment????
give up your rights....great.

A few years back we wanted Puerto Rico to become our 51 State, but Puerto Rico citizens voted no. So how can they call themselves US citizens?
They have a Valid US territory Drivers License
How can they get welfare checks from us? How do you think they survive?
Big dummy.
Don't get me wrong, I love Puerto Rico. But they are not part of the States by their own choosing. But still this guy should have been given a car, and warned to bring his passport next time. You are either a state of the United States or you're not a citizen. Common Wealth means nothing to me as far as citizenship. Question, do I as an American, need my passport when visiting Puerto Rico?
You ignorant moron, that has NOTHING to do with the matter that he is using a VALID US ID, you retard, your comment is so ignorant and stupid.
What people have to realize is that businesses have the right to refuse service for ANY! reason. So that's how it becomes a police matter
what's the reason , f-[ king rtrd?
You must be a classmate of either that hertz emp or leo I see, you FAIL to understand that hertz DID NOT deny service because he had a PREPAID rental reservation. The INCOMPETENCE/IGNORENCE of both the employee & leo is what caused this issue.
@Gus Bernal You are ignorant just as they are. You take complaints up with customer service not the police
@Stuckinthepast No I'm the teacher you didn't listen or pay attention in school
Stay in Puerto Rico.
Stay in the woods
@jusforever8295 but it's my home. My land. The United States is not part of Puerto Rico. They traded food stamps for the United States to use their island for bombing practice. They can't even vote
Stay in your cave.
Stay in your moms basement loser
Alright another ignorant here 😂😂😂😂
Puerto Rico is an American territory, you don't need a passport. Never call the police, they can only make situations worse
Dumbest advise ever. The cops can't force businesses to rent you anything. With or without valid ID
@@ihatesjws669 no shit. I never said they did, I said they make every situation worse
@@ihatesjws669 thats true but the officer was being rude and condecending
@Mi Bebito fiufiu he repeatedly said it several times, he even states that for the 4th time they have a policy. He has not authority over them messing up thier own policy. He is being asked to leave, which he can enforce.
@@ihatesjws669 you are also correct my problem is with the rudeness of the officer you can be polite doing the enforcement don't have to be a dick about it that only escalates things, if i was the gentlemen i would sue hertz for the trouble they caused by violating their own policy
