Love my 590A1, it's my go to for work and home/camping.
Damn bro, sounds like you have a shotgun as a EDC! Nice 😎
Combination of features make this the go-to pump imo
I'm in deep south Texas. Had a wood furniture 500 as my first 12 gauge when I was 17y/o. Now a old 555y/o, back in Dec2023, I purchased a Moss590S. I hated that big white lettering on the side of the receiver with a passion but I do love the fact it will shoot the mini's and bigger. I'm not sure what I can even handle now because of my lumbar and cervical issues. I just knew I wanted something nice for myself even if it ever sat over a fire place...lol Once I got it home I admired it for a few minutes then went and shipped it to Vegas to Vang Comp for their full upgrade package and I did a two tone cerakote tiger camo on it. Dark olive and black. Took a year and a half to get it back do to their back logs. I still haven't fired it yet, but it sure is bad ass looking.
How are you still able to shoot a shotgun at 555 years old?
@@panzerabwerkanone a year and a half to get back! I don't have nearly that patience.
I like that it comes threaded with chokes. It makes the shotgun much more versatile and you can feasibly use this gun for hunting now.
mine didnt
@Jacob-zv7xw weird... he said that it comes threaded for chokes
It's a specific model. I have this one and it takes chokes. Model numbers are on their website
I think it's only the 20-inch barrell models that come threaded, I have an 18 1/2 inch, and it didn't come threaded
Man, I love me some shotgun, especially Mossberg, content. Keep up the great work!
I bought one of those about a month ago and I swapped out the fore end with a magpul mlock fore end with a hand strap and put on a picatinny rail with a dot and it's awesome.
Those mini shells looks pretty neat. The only problem is, where I’m from, 2.75” shells are usually the cheapest ones you can get…even cheaper than mini shells.
I agree. The mini shells could be useful for quite a few things. However they’re double the price and hard to
Find.
Indeed, minis are much more expensive
Minis are low power options, especially god for in home self-defense shotguns. You can get 14 rounds of light buck shot. Great for kids, too.
Get a roll crimper and make your own 😊
@@bobjohnson1633they’re not good for home defense 🤦🏻♂️they’re anemic novelties! I swear to god some of y’all are clueless
Been wanting to see a rundown on one of these.
What a great shotgun love the mini option not practical mostly but handy for some in Texas there are huge hog and coyote problem my friend uses mini slugs only for defense of livestock and crops the neighbor house is 600yards so no rifle safely used he said mini slugs drop hogs and coyote last time 25 hogs in his garden he got a hand full with 13 rds slugs 👍👍
You should test the effectiveness of the mini shells Vs 2/34 shells. Ballistics gel
That would be interesting to see.
There are some videos about this.
Love me a mossberg and love this channel. Subscriber for years through thick and thin and so glad y’all are still producing quality material that educates and inspires. Love you guys and have a great day 🫡🇺🇸❤️
The 590S is easily the single most versatile and adaptable firearm that I own. I have used it for home defense, in a shotgun course, carried it for camping defense, hunted with it and even busted a few clays. It does everything you ask of it without a hiccup.
I love my 500 mariner with the Opsol mini clip so I can use mini shells.
👍🏻Great video Eric.
Every gun safe should have a Moss 590. Home defense, war, pest control, bird hunting, whatever. You pull the trigger and it goes bang every time. Uber reliable and affordable. I like the S's ability to load staggered sized slugs for greater options defending your turf. I love the semi auto Moss's but for reliability I prefer pump. For $600 you can go wrong. It is the Glock of shotguns. You can spend way more, but its diminishing returns.
Right you are, picked up my Mossberg 590S about 3 weeks ago. Awesome shotgun in every respect.
I like how most people think you are limited to only shooting Mini shells...
Love your camo Fender cap… me too. Fender … and guns. 😂
Ive been trying to get my hands on some of those minis for over a year now
good morning people
Good morning sir 💯
Morning fellow Patriot
🤝
Howdy!

Dude that slow motion pump of the action back into battery was the smoothest shit I've ever seen. F ing legit bro
If one can' t afford a new Mossberg 590S but one has a Mossberg 500, there is a commercially made rubber insert for the Mossberg 500 that allows cycling of mini-shotshells.
I have the 590S shockwave and I'm loving the ability to run the aguila minis. I did run into issues controlling the birds head grip of the shockwave, so I switched the setup up a bit. Overall I love that firearm
Really like my 18.5 inch barrel 590S. Fits my needs just right.
Where is the 940 pro video you talked about I don’t see it on your channel
I did a review on the mossberg shockwave 590s, great gun
subbed
Curious, did you trying racking the gun in odd positions using mini-shells, like you would in a real self defense scenario? Because that's where mini-shells start to jam even with adapters or with a Mossberg "S" model because gravity makes the shells turn during the feed cycle resulting in a jam. Just holding the gun level and racking it is not testing it's reliability with mini-shells. In a real situation, you may have to rack the gun with the barrel pointing at the ceiling while hiding behind a corner, for instance. That's how I find out how mine would jam with mini shells. Also racking it with the barrel pointing at the ground can also get them to act wonky during the feeding process. With standard shells, this is never a problem because their length and the design of action won't allow them to ever change position as along as the shotgun is racked with reasonable force. But mini-shells, even with adapters or in an "S" model, still have too much room to move around while being cycled to be truly reliable in a self defense situation.
We need a dedicated minishell autoloader. See the SRM 1228 from a few years back (but made by a decent manufacturer). Something like a Mag-7, but with a shortened action would be neat, too.
Didn’t realize you guys did a video on the Mossberg 940. I’m not finding it on UA-cam and would like to see it.
Gone back to back with minis in a 12 gauge and 410 with a buckshot load and felt recoil is VERY similar.
Has anybody handloaded something smaller than 1 3/4" shells? I can imagine someone making a 1.33" shell, or a 1" shell, for show. Not much power likely at that point, unless you work some magic with powders and pressures.
This community on IV8888 is awesome, much love Y'all from Minnesota.❤
My friend just got one of these in pistol grip about 3 weeks ago. Perfect to sling over a bag or the shoulder. It's nice for damm sure. Makes me miss my mossberg persuader
Shootin' and Laughin'!! Great stuff here, boss.
I could not find the 940 tactical review you referenced several times in this video. Is it not yet released?
Nice to see that they added optic mount cut! That's one thing they missed on the early releases.
For a minute there while you were shooting I was like, "you're expending a lot of rounds", and it reminded me of that 'How hollywood uses shotguns' video where the guy keeps cocking the shotgun to intimidate the trespasser.
Just got this one a month ago. The optic cut out is nice and the gun is great. Really like it
I'm thinking about getting this exact model for the choke threading. Are you still enjoying it? Have you ran any other chokes on it?
@@ceeb40 I have been enjoying it! Very solid gun. I haven’t tried the other chokes yet.
I got the 20” model for extra capacity, wish I got the 18.5”
I
@skylerdylan1005 I'm glad to hear you are still enjoying it.
I like this shotgun but would like a 24 inch barrel. Unfortunately, it only comes with an 18 and 20 inch barrel.
A 24 inch barrel and shell tube would give the weapon even more capacity and versatility for all around use.
I think there is allot of potential with this for both self defense and hunting!
What a set of features. Optic ready, short shells, bayonet lug, chokes? Gimme the alloy trigger group and this might be their best pump.
With the 590s you can also mix & match the rounds.
I think you need to buy 2 Moss Mav 88s. Hold one in each arm. That seems like the truest form of an IraqVet 88 88
This gun is shown on Mossberg website with an M-lok forend. Did you change it out or did Mossberg recently change this ?
I just bought gun SKU 51604 590S with 20" barrel optic ready with bead sight.
Good gun! Great video Chad! AND I always enjoy watching your reactions to your shooting VARIOUS SHOTGUN LOADS/SHELLS!! From one Georgia boy another...YA--❤HOO & STAY FROSTY & SAFE!!! (I hardly ever comment but I always enjoy your work) God bless you! Buz
Oh boy oh boy! Awesome
Aguila makes some great ammo. My favorite is their .45 Colt 200gr cowboy loads at 600fps. Great for my 1858 with the cartridge conversion, and really fun in my Rossi M92.
Yooo! I'm noticing a little buffing up! That's great good for you.
The Winchester SXP seems to feed minishells just fine, at least the one I have.
Thanks for posting that. I'm looking at a first shotgun and the SXP looks like a winner.
Haven’t had a shotgun since I was a little kid. Want one of these. Is there much of a difference in the barrel length? Thinking more for home defense and the range.
I believe you short pumped that thing .... that’s my biggest problem with a pump action...... they are reliable until I mess them up. If I was needing to depend on it I will always go with an auto loader. I would need more practice with the pump. I don’t seem to do that until I’m under pressure and trying to hurry. I was raised on the autoloader so there’s that 🤷🏽♂️
I'm a revolver guy and I have never in my life short shucked a pump shotgun. You're not working the action with purpose. You're sliding a piece that your brain doesn't connect with the function of the gun.
No, he didn't short stroke it. It's a problem with ALL mini-shells using ANY adapter or the Mossberg "S" models. The shells, even with an adapter, will occasionally flip out of position during the feeding cycle causing a jam. Standard length shells don't have this problem. Mossberg would have to build an entirely new shotgun just for the mini's to make them truly reliable. It would involve shrinking down everything in the receiver so there would be no room for the mini shell to flip around during the feeding cycle.
@@JohnB-dr8sk Good to know. I’ve never tried the mini shell. Thx for the info.
@@Off-target-xy6bx You're very welcome Off target
The 590S in shockwave format has my attention
That's what I have, highly recommend.
What does an infomercial on this channel cost these days?
Hasn't the 590S always been able to shoot mini-shells?
Great combination with the 590S Shockwave!
You needed an aftermarket product that installed in the feed tube to help it not jam up for the older models
@@BobbyCoolBreezeNot on the "S" model.
@@Cityoftrees1911Exactly. The S model has always supported the mini shells.
Except it's a 590. The 590 series doesn't reliably run minis, unless you get the S model of the 590 series.
@@bobjohnson1633right, the 590S shoots the mini-shells, the 590/500 doesn't without an adapter. Which is what I said/asked.
Thx for this video on minis
Where is the 940 video you speak of?
That is such a nice Shotgun😍😍😍
Will we be seeing the “Bear on the Box?” Always a good time with Mossberg.
Thank you.
I remember that according to the history books i read in school that the Indians called the early settler's rifles boom sticks
Yess another 12ga video 🔥
Where's the recent 940 video? Can't find it
thank you for the video :)
I have this 500 Persuader 12ga and there is little info I can find on it. Thing is brand new. Need to get out and feed it.
41 #4 is basically the same amount of holes in a home invading ninja as two entire 20-round magazines from an AR IN EACH SHOT.
Except they weigh half as much and travel half as fast.
@@bobjohnson1633 That is true. However, per shot, it'll make an AR look weak, and it'll be less likely to shoot through the asshole at 3am.
Great weopen ❤❤❤❤❤ you boss great explanation you always provide thanks for your guidance
What inch barrel is that? I noticed the mag tube is exacly flush with barrel where as the mag tubes im seeing online the tube is shorter by inch or two or barrel is a little longer by inch or 2
I have a Winchester sxp marine edition and it runs mini shells fine!!!
Eric just saw I am real clear you did say brass right just checking
so this is the one i should buy?
Indeed a Great day
My only question is… is this shotgun NJ compliant?
Very cool. Needs a heatshield because it looks way cooler.
What are the odds of getting a gas operated semi auto that takes mini shells. It would need an adjustable gas system I would think. Imagine a 940 pro that takes mini shells. 14 rnd 940? Yes please.
if not adjustable gas system, a dedicated minishell autoloader (my preference). See the SRM 1228 from a few years back. Something like a Mag-7, but with a shortened action would be neat, too.
I`ll watch any vid with a scatter gun. They are just fun.
A normal shotgun shell is 2.75" long. The receiver is typically 3". So .25" of play, so to speak. The 590s has a piece of rubber at the back of the receiver, to absorb the initial energy of the feeding by mag tube. A minishell is roughly 1.5" long, so there is basically 1.5" or so of room/rattle/play in the receiver for the minishell to move around before the round is elevated and rammed into the barrel.
I am unaware of any other gun in the firearm world where this "room to move" is allowed during the feeding process.
IF you rack any shotgun hard, jerk it, rack it in odd positions like you(or your family members)may have to in a defensive scenario, 1.5" of rattle room can cause real problems. Minis can literally flip, try to leave the ejector port, etc.
Only the OPSol Flex Adapter "adapts" the shotgun receiver, shrinking its open length to about 1.6".
Long shells need a long receiver opening, and minishells need a mini receiver opening.
Running minishells at the range and running minishells when you are defending your home is different. I am pretty sure you understand that reality much better than me.
Love you family 😮
Where can I purchase that gold bead front sight? Very nice and simple
There is no 940 video up yet hah
Eric can the 590s take cut shells
Love the mini shells. More ammo capacity and easier to carry.
Do you know the skew # for that one? Im not seeing ones with a mag tube as long as that one
Just picked this up but there's no mini shells around.
You may consider trying a Buck Kicker Full choke on that 590S. Bubba Rountree channel has tried lots of chokes, and that seems to be a good one. How is the LOP on that shotgun? 590A1 is kinda long, and some people end up cutting the stock to make it workable to handle.
Hogue makes a 12" LOP for this shotgun for around $70
Sweet shotgun
You're looking buff
I've been trying to decide if I want the S or the A1'
Can you load & fire mini and standard shells at the same time?
sure
Does the 590S have the metal trigger group? Mossberg does not mention it as a feature. They still list it as a feature on the 590A1.
They are modified 590ies not A1.
The first time I ever heard of the 590S is when I bought a 590S Shockwave.
Good video.
This exact model isn’t shown on mossberg website. The 20” 590s with threaded barrel, bayonet lug is shown with an m-lok style fore end whereas the one here has a corncob fore end.
Anybody know if this is a running change or a special edition or…?
Just got mine today, and came with ghost sight to front glow sight and the mlok fore end. I think that’s how they are shipping now.
what is the price on shotgun
Does anyone know the LOP on this shotgun? I have two (2) Mossberg Maverick 88s, and I have Magpul 12 inch LOP stocks on them, man they are like different guns now. I have Opsol adapters too.
4Buck is the best home defense load made.
I usually just blacken the casing with a Zippo easy oasy.
Lol.
Yeah it last until you rub it, right?😂
Nice shotgun
If you can find em
Ive been wanting the 590s shockwave
The minis usually have issue cycling if the gun is in the firing position. When I run my 590, I naturally turn the side upward, which actually makes minis run smooth. It has no stock, so it makes sense to run it that way
@@bobjohnson1633is yours the “S” model that you’re referring to?
Good stuff.
Hope they make a Shockwave S version
they do and have for a while now.
Turn your receiver sideways when you run the pump and they usually load perfectly fine. The S model is more appropriate for the full size guns you run from the shoulder.
Broomstick 😊
Remington needs to respond with something
Ain't nothin' worse than someone shootin' at your shiny brass . 😂
Even though I am subscribed ( and have been!)... UA-cam Never sends me notifications of new films! 🤬
