I grew up listening to all this classic music from the 60's. Gary Puckett & The Union Gap had a lot of great songs such as "Young Girl", "Woman, Woman", "Lady Willpower", "Over You", "Don't Give In To Him, "This Girl Is A Woman Now" & "Let's Give Adam & Eve Another Chance". This music brings back good memories for me.
Powerful voice with incredible range. Gary Puckett has never received the recognition he so surely deserves for over 50 years. I graduated in 1968 when his 3 most famous songs came out and I didn’t realize back then what a powerhouse this man is. He certainly gets my recognition now. (Sorry Gary……..you rocked the moon…then and now)
I agree. That musical era was phenomenal! Gary is still great. Saw him on the Turtles Happy Together Tour and he still touches my heart and soul. Never. NEVER was there better music!
This group is very very underrated. But back in the60's and early 70's Gary Puckett & The Union Gap were on all the Radios and airwaves!!!! This group is one of my all-time favorite groups!!!
His songs were really important to us serving during Vietnam. You would see a wounded guy with a little transistor radio listening to songs like this. There is one song that really is important in this group. Its "Home" listen to that and think back to Vietnam. I was one of those people back then. Thanks for your sharing.
Hari...Gary Pucket and the Union Gap band played at my High school senior prom in San Diego Calif. Great guy is Gary who went to a local hospital to sing some of his songs to a dying man at the request of his daughter..yes he is very compassionate indeed. My brother went to same college as he during the late 60's I went east to Illinois State Univ. to college and grad school....Dana
So glad you got to this! Another good oldie (same era) is their "Over You," and also Gerry and the Pacemakers' "Ferry Across the Mersey," i'd love to hear/see your reaction to those, too. Thx, love the channel!
One of the most overlooked artist in today's reaction videos is Gary Pucket..An absolute stellar voice and some great songs....This is one of my favorites of all time.....great video....Bravo
The union Gap was formed in San Diego in 1967 The song was written by two country singers Jim Glaser and Jimmie Payne. Their manager producer Jerry Fuller chose it for them. He revel up the tempo and added horns and strings and the rest is history. They sold more records in 1968 than The Beatles and Sones. Their first big hit. Gary sang live with the orchestra at Columbia studios on Sunset in Los Angeles. Their first six singles all went gold. 17 years later on the show Nashville now Gary met Jim Glaser for the first time Glaser said in 10984 woman
I'm glad you appreciate his voice- one of my favorite singers! His voice is masculine, powerful, great range, and expressive! He sounds almost operatic- he has a trained sounding voice☺
This came out in 1968, and another good song by them is "Lady Willpower!" When I originally heard this, I also thought they were British, 'cause so many great musicians are from the U.K. Thanks for your time, it's much appreciated Harri! My son tested positive for covid yesterday, not good, but doesn't need to be hospitalized !
The rock era has produced many great voices, male and female alike, over the course of 65 plus years. But then there is that exclusive club for the "elite of the elite" . . . Gary Puckett is a member of that club. His distinctive sound combined with an almost flawless presentation has wowed audiences for decades. For many of us baby boomers, his songs are the soundtrack of our youth.
Fabulous song choice. I will add my name to the lit that Gary had one of the top five voices in pop music history, and this song showcases it. What memories of the incomparable music of the mid-sixties!
Even The Walker Bros were American.. Scott Engels was born in Ohio. That was just the sound in the 60's , All the male vocalists knew what was expected of them.. BJ Thomas was another one. And these were all the guys that I emulated as I developed my singing style
Actually my really first favorite group in the late 60s. This was their first big hit. Young Girl and Lady Willpower followed. Another two great songs. I believe he still performs. Great voice!
Hello, Debbie. I have noticed that you and I have listened to much of the same music from the late fifties through the seventies. Wasn't it great to be a boomer and live through the best music era in world history? Also curious if you might be from my area- near Bellevue, WA. What a fun party we could have with similar music-minded people!
Unfortunately, I am on the opposite coast in Southeastern Connecticut. I definitely consider myself lucky to have been a teenager in the sixties and having the wealth of great music all around me. I saw so many great live shows in the 1970’s and early 80’s because concerts were not prohibitively expensive as they are now. Rock on brother 🎶🎸🥁🎤
Thanks for following this singer. Great song. I've been a fan for a while of the Gary Puckett and Union Gap. BTW. His name is pronounced PUCK IT (like in hockey), I think.
yes i thought they were British, i love his voice soooooooooo much Lady Willpower and young girl, these songs you play over and over again and sing then like its your own haha
Have seen them perform many times. Gary has a great voice. He was going with actress Morgan Fairchild so all and all I would say life's been good for Gary. My favorite song was "Over You". Love the oboe in it. 👍💟🔥🥰
You should have seen Him and Jim Glaser, a great Country Singer and Artist And Co-Writer of this song sing it together live on the old Nashville Now Show hosted by Ralph Emery. Great performance and only one of Them together. Always loved Gary Puckett and loved Him in concert.
My mom had this album and I use to listen to it growing up and learned all the songs! I sure do miss my mama so much! Hearing this song reminds me of her!
Gary Puckett was Johnny Mathis' biggest fan. Watch a young Johnny doing "It's Not For Me To Say" in a live black and white video, as well as "Chances Are", "Wonderful, Wonderful", and Johnny's version of "Misty" for the real master of this distinctive style.
They performed with The Monkees in concert in late 80's..I was in my 20's at the time..They sounded great!! Also with them was the group " Grass Roots"..
Crystal, I think I saw that same tour in San Antonio it would have been 1986 I believe. The were all great but Gary was super-great ... his voice and his looks!!
Thanks for posting this review. I am a huge fan of Gary Puckett and was certainly interested in your opinion - this song is by far my most favourite of the union gap smash hits.
I love his voice too. When I listen to bless this child, if the day would come and home all make me so moved. I get sad on home and if the day would come. And bless this child makes me think of my late father.
Been wondering why Gary Puckett was being ignored! Classic group with many hits and a very distinctive sound. Was lucky enough to see him in the 90s at a small street fair outside Chicago. Could still hit every note! Now if we can just get you to review Jay and the Americans Cara Mia. (edit to add) he also did a Christmas album.
As an old lady, soon to be 70, I loved the Union Gap since I was a young teen. Another great of theirs's is 'young girl' although some people think the 'guy' is a peodophile when he is the opposite. It is his voice that makes the songs. If you like baritone, you should check out The Walker Brothers, you might already know them since they were a British band, although the lead was American. I'm new to your channel and I don't know if you've ever checked out "Home Free" vocal band. You will find some incredible voices there. They are strictly A Cappella, with varied genres.
I love this song one of my favorites. I have always thought Garry was British through and through . The band sound British. I would have never thought he was American as he doesn't sound American and more British i am sure without doubt uk have claimed him as there own! Such a timeless song!
I’ve known this song since the ‘60s, and your interpretation never occurred to me. You could be right, and I’m going to listen to it a little differently from now on. I understand your comparison to the Mersy Sound. Interesting. Thanks so much for your reactions. I always enjoy them.
Gary Puckett (the "u" is like "uh") really had a great voice but I came to understand that there was much more to these songs than Gary's voice. I grew up with these songs and was in junior high school when they had all their hits, so I was very familiar with this music. Years ago, I went to one of those Rock and Roll oldies concerts. This is one of those concerts that has 5 or 6 headliners consisting of performers who had big hits many years ago. Each performer comes out and sings their 5 or 6 songs, leaves, and the next performer comes out. Also, all performers usually use the same band. Gary Puckett was on the bill and he came out and started singing. The guy still had a great voice and it was nice hearing the songs again, but I sat there thinking something was missing. About half way through the second song it hit me. The backing vocals were missing, it was just Gary singing with the band. The missing "ooooohs" and "ahhhhhhhs" were very noticeable and really affected how the songs sounded. Amazing how something so seemingly small can add so much to a song, and your enjoyment of it.
I used to listen to his album a lot, for years (way before cd's and youtube) Gary had a beautiful voice and tone. I just wish he did more and I could have seen them perform live where I live. Oh well. Time travels on ticking away with only memories to sustain us.
I grew up listening to all this classic music from the 60's. All of their songs tell a story of sorts
I still love their songs 🎵. Gary 's voice is fantastic. ❤
Gary was the best singer back in the 60s loved his music who is still listening now in 2023🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️
My vote is the most underated vocalist of thst era. No note he couldn't hit!!!
I agree!!!! ❤❤❤ Gary Puckett!!!
He’s really there- on top- ahead of the rest of them! What a voice!
He was being train for opera that his mother wanted him to do

I loved his voice from the first time hearing him in 1968. So powerful and seductive at the same time.
This group is very very underrated. But back in the60's and early 70's Gary Puckett & The Union Gap were on all the Radios and airwaves!!!! This group is one of my all-time favorite groups!!!
Gary is from same town as Bob Dylan, Hibbing, Minnesota

Gary is a great singer. His voice sends shivers down your spine. I love Young Girl in particular.
One of the greatest voices of all time!!
I love this group! Yes, he has a phenomenal voice! Great reaction Harri!
Lady Willpower is a must from this group. Another great blast from my past. Thank you.
So glad you got to this! Another good oldie (same era) is their "Over You," and also Gerry and the Pacemakers' "Ferry Across the Mersey," i'd love to hear/see your reaction to those, too. Thx, love the channel!
I never tire of listening to Gary Pucketts voice
My favorite song !!!!!!!!!!! ... I listen to this often weekly ....
One of the most overlooked artist in today's reaction videos is Gary Pucket..An absolute stellar voice and some great songs....This is one of my favorites of all time.....great video....Bravo
Saw him live and he still sounds great decades later.
They have the British vibe for sure. Gary’s voice is gorgeous! Love their songs.

Gary Puckett's song "Home" was one of many Vietnam anthems that was written with a lot of understanding and feeling.
Great group and fantastic songs.
Amazing vocals with absolutely NO AUTO-TUNE!!!

Gary Puckett is simply the best!
I have always loved the power of his voice.
Gary Puckett is the man. I've always loved that golden voice. One of the all time greats IMO.
What a voice, loved them❤❤❤❤
My fave group from back then & yes I thought he was British too , only recently found out ! Young girl I bought when I was 16 ……. Brilliant 🥰

No gaps in Gary Puckett's range that's for dang sure
My generation....
Love it.

I saw these guys in Union Gap Washington in 1974. I was 8 yrs old, and I've been a huge fan and emulator ever since! GP is making a comeback!!
Gary just turn 80 and still sounds good we saw him in August 2022 Happy Together Tour
Loved this group, and this song.
Even The Walker Bros were American.. Scott Engels was born in Ohio. That was just the sound in the 60's , All the male vocalists knew what was expected of them.. BJ Thomas was another one. And these were all the guys that I emulated as I developed my singing style
Harri I love your choices. Great band, great song! Keep it up Harri, excellent job!
Glad you like it!
Beautiful voice!

“Woman, Woman” their debut hit December 1967.
How can you not have heard this song. It was played constantly through the years on the radio.
What a treat!
Wow! Another fantastic musical memory from my teens! Thank you Brandon and Harri! 🌺✌️
You're most welcome. Hope I can keep up the good requests.

Gary Puckett is still singing fabulously and touring at age 80! He was born in 1942... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Puckett
Great band, lots of good songs!
Thanks for following this singer. Great song. I've been a fan for a while of the Gary Puckett and Union Gap.

❤️❤️❤️ LOVE his voice!
Another great voice..... just to think this stuff used to be on popular radio at that time.

Harri reacted to Young Girl.
@@dsusan17 I just saw that. He must have reviewed that just before I joined his channel.
Gary pucket had a phenomenal and powerful voice for that Era and time above most singers
Saudades, de uma época que não volta nunca mais 😢😢😢😢
Awesome song reaction! His last name rhymes with bucket. :)
keep up the good work harri, great getting a modern view on all the great old tunes.you really seem to enjoy and get right into the music.
I’m so happy you’re listening to them! They’re incredible! That voice!
Gary grew up for a period of his time here in my hometown, Twin Falls, Idaho
He's got a brilliant voice
Check out "Over You," which has a killer opening line.
