The optional big brakes on the BMW M2 Competition is so much better than the stock brakes. I had an M2 which I tracked 6 times before I sold it and bought and M2 competition. The M2 competition big brakes are so much better. Not just in terms of performance, but in pedal feel. The 4 pots on the old car was a lot more grabby directly, the 6pots have more initial travel and is not as grabby, you need to push the pedal harder. It's a lot better for daily driving.
TheSmokingTire ah they fooled me with the black accents! Yeah, I’ll have to wait and see what that owner used when the tst video comes out but the race chip tune seems pretty reasonable.

Notice how he completely skips the E36 when he talks about driving feel. Common attitude among the BMW oldtimers. Not sure if it's a S50B30US thing and being bitter about getting a lesser engine compared to the real //M engine like we got instead of a stroked M50 with pretty valvecovers. E36 is the most fun of the 3, perfect middleground between the old and the new. The build quality isn't great tho, and the interior falls apart.
Funnily enough, I prefer the E36 over almost any other BMW. The newer ones feel far heavier and sluggish, and older ones are.. Well, products of their time.

It wasn't really clear, but that's very hard to believe. You don't get 195 hp from just a tune. Usually you need to at least do exhaust on a turbocharged car with the tune to uncork it properly. Even then 195 hp sounds like a lot without using race gas or modifying the turbochargers in any way.
Thanks for your video !! Yea so many cars these days have stif suspension like my partner's Kia Cerato Sport.. but cars like the Fiesta ST do actually need it and do actually benifet from it because of front wheel drive (under steer) and to get the front to stick better and have better turn in. But it's not the direct answer to handling for all cars IMO.
M cars generally speaking, always needed a spiff on the brakes. Usually that means just track pads and maybe steel braided brake lines (from frame to hub). For me personally, the six pot calipers are way too heavy. Otherwise, nice car. I bet it surprises a lot of other car/drivers on the road!

I have test driven some *stiff* modern enthusiast cars w/in the past few years and wondered what numbers do I need to know in order to correctly swap out the suspension for a better over-the-road experience (*) while retaining ~75% of the handling.
(*) -- where my roads are winter ravaged mid-atlantic shit shows intermixed with the occasional newly paved stretch.
I don’t believe I’ve seen a recent ad where they still claim “The Ultimate Driving Machine”. Can others confirm?
The optional big brakes on the BMW M2 Competition is so much better than the stock brakes.
I had an M2 which I tracked 6 times before I sold it and bought and M2 competition.
The M2 competition big brakes are so much better. Not just in terms of performance, but in pedal feel. The 4 pots on the old car was a lot more grabby directly, the 6pots have more initial travel and is not as grabby, you need to push the pedal harder. It's a lot better for daily driving.
I am in third gear (all the time)
Always the best content, I learn soooooooooooo much from your channel .
Old Tupperware killed me lmao 🤣
What color is that? I neeeeeed it!
Looking forward to seeing zack have a go in that M5 comp in the background. My parents just picked one up.
Twas a regular M5, not a comp. But 850HP. 850. From a tune. GET THEM A TUNE FOR XMAS.
TheSmokingTire ah they fooled me with the black accents! Yeah, I’ll have to wait and see what that owner used when the tst video comes out but the race chip tune seems pretty reasonable.
@@lexus_offroad_adventures whatever you do don't put a race chip on that car. Or any car.
AllCategoryChannel really? Did you have a bad experience? Please do tell
Get that wagon on the show
Nice. If I wasn’t worried about my warranty I’d mod my m2.
Carbahn (Steve Dinan's company) matches the factory warranty, even at stage 2.
BMW gives warranty for Dinan factory parts. Just like brabus and merc.
Yup. You pay for that. I wonder how that affects resale
@@jasonnav9969 BMW doesn't do that anyone. Dinan provides a 3rd party limited warranty that matches the remainder of your factory warranty. BMW will not cover any damage caused by Dinan.
What does he drive ?
Great video! Just a little confused why the passenger is there not saying anything.
You know whats fun about manual cars? You do the shifting, maybe you should try it lol
Dude was in 3rd for a quarter of the video
no crank huB?
Various vendors offer ECU flashing for this car, with similar power increases, but require 95-97 octane (vendors based in Europe). I wonder what octane this mod requires.
Just regular pump 93 or 91. I have had this tune now for almost 2 years its insane.
Dinan makes nothing for hp on M2C so where did 200 hp come from?
Noelle Performance Tuning
@@zackklapman3569 Thx
You can also do Steve D’s Carbahn Autoworks tune. I have the stage 1 for ~480whp.
The interior falls apart in comical fashion, but they are truly delightfully driving cars. I would love to own an E36 one day.
Funnily enough, I prefer the E36 over almost any other BMW. The newer ones feel far heavier and sluggish, and older ones are.. Well, products of their time.
@@Leonidae E30's are cool, love the 80's boxey look. They drive great as well for an 80's car, arguebly one of the best driving cars from the 80's and they hold up today, but still feel old unless you put a ton of money into your suspension setup. I've never driven an E30 M3 and probably never will, so can't argue on those. Short wheelbase as well . E46's are great dailydrivers, more comfortable but in my opinion less fun as a toy. That's why E36 is the best middelground.
That road is not fair for a 600HP M2!!
E9x M3: what am I to you guys??
Heavy but great.
@@TheSmokingTire a stock m2 comp is heavier and and has less power from factory
Jr_35 I’ve raced a e92 m3 in my M2 comp and I embarrassed it.
@@TheSpragz okay? Do you want a prize?
Jr_35 just proving that power to weight isn’t everything.
Laguna laptimes?
Great car, like what has been done to this. Need to up the mic game - things rattling around in corners and all sorts.
Was it the tupperware?
could have been, now you mention it. i know it must be difficult to capture anyway still loved the vid
Agree on compliance being neglected these days. Rev rev rev lol there are other gears!
0-60?
So you’re telling me just a tune and it’s pushing 600 hp?
It wasn't really clear, but that's very hard to believe. You don't get 195 hp from just a tune. Usually you need to at least do exhaust on a turbocharged car with the tune to uncork it properly. Even then 195 hp sounds like a lot without using race gas or modifying the turbochargers in any way.
And a charge air cooler, I guess. Seems like a lot still
It is 600 on 93 octane. Wait for the M5 video
I'm skeptical as well
Yes all you do is the 1st stage soft wear upgrade exhaust and octane booster 93
Waited 22 minutes for you to floor the damn car and doesn't seem like you ever did.
He's probably scared of it.....
Dam dude, change the freaking gear pls....geez!
Heis not chaging because he isn't entirely comfortable with a stick
This comment has been brought to you by the type of dude that thinks you and your car immediatly die if you go over 4000 rpm for more than 3 seconds because thunder and lighting very very frightning, watch out the rpm Police is watching better shift up
The engine redlines at 7500rpm...
@@MrWhitePerson nah, just someone annoyed by an engine crying for relief. I love when greenhands run up to the mic to showcase their ignorance. If you can't drive, more specifically a manual, and know nothing about cars, pls don't comment. Both of you need to stick with automatics.
Fyi...No engine loves being driven at high rpm for an extended periods. It creates excessive heat, which thins out the oils and kills viscosity. Lower viscosity increases the chances of engine damage due to friction.
@@PaulSvk84 your point is?
Talking bout suspensions - yeh it got stiffer
Me- dang u guys must of tracked every car huh
