Yes omfg shorts in general. I'm a middle sized girl (size 12/14) and have a small waist but pretty large thighs and shorts are generally so tight on my legs but fit on my waist 😪

"This item was not cut with my dimensions in mind" I cannot describe to you the emotional weight lifted off of me just now. Thank you for the consistent body positivity! As an 11yr old, a kind teenager at a local boutique told me "the size on the tag doesn't matter. What matters is how it fits and makes you feel."
you should do a similar video but buy the same piece in 4 different sizes, trying each size on without seeing it, and determining which size works best for you!
Torrid is literally my favorite place to shop. I’m a 3x so I can’t shop at most regular stores. Torrid has extremely cute clothes for younger plus sized girls. So many plus size store cater to an older group like my moms age.
CarlyCChapman very true, however I feel like they are priced the same as any plus sized store. I have a Lane Bryant near me and I feel like they are priced similar. It’s also really good quality. Since I’m at the top of the plus sized section for a lot of traditional store I sometimes have a problem with clothes from traditional stores fitting me. I would much rather spend a little more to have clothes that fit me the way they are suppose to.
@@carlycchapman I LOVE Torrid but totally agree that it's so much pricier, but whenever I shop there I go straight to the clearance section because they are almost always having great deals there. I literally never buy things full price haha same great quality about half the price. For example, I just got a winter coat from there they had originally priced at $120 for $10 so win haha
The thing is, Torrid actually isn’t very expensive for clothing, everyone’s frame of reference has just been ruined because of the emergence of fast fashion, which is super cheap because it’s cheaply made through unethical labor conditions.
I love this so much. Lately I’ve been trying to do this, if something looks like it would be comfortable for me and my body then I’ll try it on and try to avoid looking at the tags at all. I was getting so frustrated with how I can be a small at some stores and a large at others - sizing is just irrelevant, especially for young women. Thanks for spreading so much positivity. 🥺💞
The way I see it, the size on the tag is a guideline, just so I hopefully don't have to try on EVERY size in the store. 😉 I'm often an XL, so I'll grab the large & the 0/1X is possible when I go to try something on. But just like Sierra shows in the video, sometimes the best fitting item is a medium (heck, I even have some shirts in a small, and I'm VERY large-chested!), sometimes it's a 2XL. I try not to worry about the numbers, and look forward to the day my sewing skills are badass enough for me to make my own underwear/pants/trousers! Those are the articles of clothing I have the most fit issues with. My underwear alone feels like I need a 6 or 7 in the front, and an 8 or 9 in the back! 😄 It's sad when ya gotten alter PANTIES to fit you properly! 😆 But pants that fit the hips are too big in the waist, the waistband often ends up just under my breasts and the legs are STILL too long...petite sizing fixes the waist-under-boobs issue, but then the legs are usually too short...ugh. I should just wear skirts 24/7, heehee!
This came out on a PERFECT DAY. I went to Zara, I went around picked things up, I'm usually a medium to a large there, extra large if I want an oversized/baggy fit sometimes. Today, not only when I was in the change room noticed that I tried on a pant (looked like a skirt though lol) that was a size small and it fit me PERFECTLY then I tried on a pair of high waisted leather leggings and they didn't go over my thighs and they were a size LARGE. So this is another example to just FOCUS ON FIT!!
The madewell pants could be altered to fit beautifully! I know altering is a pain in the butt, but sometimes it is the best way to get a properly fitting outfit. I feel like no one uses a seamstress anymore (me included 😂) but then expecting things to fit us off the rack is hard as all of our bodies are always different!
^^ Honestly it would be a super cool video to see Sierra take items that almost fit (just a little too big in some spots) and take them in to get altered and look at the cost/if it's worth it and if her thoughts change on the item!
yes I've been commenting for sooo long about how she's dismissing so many pieces or compromising on fit when she doesn't have to. i think it would be fantastic for her to do a tailoring video because it's really saves a lot of hassle and frustration if you can know what to look for in the store that will ultimately result in a perfect fit. Bringing on a seamstress who goes to the store with her would be sooo awesome
Diane S YES! I have thought this a number of time too. As I said, I don’t use a tailor very often either, but I know I could find pants to better fit my apple shape if I just had them taken in a bit in the hips. I have a cousin who has a very small waste and round bottom. She always uses to complain about jeans not fitting properly because she wanted them snug around her waste and no gap...that’s where a tailor comes in so handy!
When the shirt was down with those blue pants I thought for a second you had hospital pants on 😳 the top of the pants needs to be seen for them to actually look cute
I’d love to see more videos like this with specific brands, it’s so interesting to me how sizes truly are not standard at all. Love you and your videos, keep it up!

Omg, I feel the same about the sizes. I usually wear 36 but in other stores it's 38 or sometimes 34 or 32. I have no longer idea what size I am. And I love that Sierra is talking about subjects which concern everybody among us, not only plus size. Btw I love how she picks clothes for herself. She looks beautiful!
Caitlin Marie I have clothes of literally every single size, jeans size 6,8,10,12 and shirts S M and L, its a little mind blowing but that’s when you realize that it really doesn’t matter
I thrift a lot too and I can usually pick jeans that fit perfect without trying them on but for some reason shirts always screw me up. I can pull what looks like a large/xlarge and I look like I’m a stuffed sausage. I’m not even oddly proportioned. I have no luck with shirts. But the sizing on jeans is crazy. I’m anywhere between a 10 and a 16 depending on brand.
It’s so important to find clothes that make you feel good! I started doing that instead of worrying about size, and instead of shopping trips ending in self-loathing, they result in happiness, self confidence, and new cute clothes to add to your wardrobe👌🏼
I would be interested to see you get custom made clothes. Especially from a seamstress, or small local business. I used to sew and sell my items, and making clothes specific to measurements was the only way to get a good fit. I still sew for myself and I have similar sizing issues, my waist, hips, and thighs are all different sizes! Custom clothes fix that!
I honestly love love love that I found your channel! I still have struggles with accepting the size I’ve become but I love your videos and it’s honestly helping a lot
I don’t like that so many overweight girls call themselves “curvy”. Curvy is a body structure. You can be very skinny and curvy. It depends on the measurements of the bottom of your ribcage and your hips. I think Sierra May be curvy, but I think she means it in a way of size, and not body shape. You can be curvy at just about any size, but people have made plus size/overweight = curvy
I think that buying clothes w/ alpha sizing (L/XL/1X) is usually p inaccurate cuz the fit on them ranges a ton. Love to see u try to do this w/ numbered sizing & see how it goes
I don't think that beeing smaller is the important thing, but if you eat healthy and do exercize, becoming smaller is a consequenze. And yes, sure people shoulden't be bullied because of their size, but if you're obese maby beeing smaller and carring less weight may (will) help.
@@ReplyGuy22345 How is that victim blaming? It's not like people who are obese always were obese or have a bigger and larger skeleton, that's not how anatomy works. Just an example, if you only give three healthy and small amount of calories a day to an obese person, surely they will lose weight, that's science, they will not stay obese even if they have diseases. So, it's just a matter of how much you eat and what you, as a person, decides to put in your body.
I often have the same problem with the extra fabric around the crotch area, I think it is because I do not have super wide hips, but also thick thighs like you If you have really wide hips does pants would probably look awesome 😎
So many people have already said this, but once again that jumpsuit was made for you! You look incredible, so flattering and probably the best thing you've ever tried on for a video. Pls pls keep it!
Torrid sizing is very different from regular stores. Since it’s a plus sized only store, the clothes start at 10 and go up from there. A 00 is a 10, a 12 is a 0, a 14is a 1x, and so on. Everything is made to accommodate larger breasts, hips, thighs, etc. It takes some getting used to but torrid is like my favorite store 😍
please do more of this ! I find myself getting so frustrated with what size to get (especially online since lots of standard size stores dont have my size available in store) and this was a nice reminder that it really is a doozie to manage , love ya Sierra !
When you were talking about sizing being irrelevant and the number on the tags not mattering, I thought you were going to say it was because sizes are never consistent and you can be both a 6 and a 12 in the same store lol
LOVVVVEEED this video. I am also in a midsized body as well and the struggle is so real with clothing just not being designed with our bodies in mind. I am so grateful for you and the beautiful and real content that you create. LOVE you!
Honestly, I think that clarification would help a lot of the sizing on this channel. It seems like a 1X to a 2X is a great fit on lots of the clothes she tries on, but that is definitely not the same as an XXL.
I honestly do not understand the different terms for sizing, really should be universal! Edit:perhaps just the ACTUAL measurements stated in the garment would be the answer!! 😁
Truly, that's why you should shop local and small. I work in a boutique and am always able to help since I know how the clothes fit different body types. Sizes don't really say anything, they're just a guide. 💛🧡💙

I thrift alot and I have sizes all across the spectrum. It really is a guessing game sometimes.
Legit. Same here. I thrift Levi's and depending on the style number I can have a variant of 3 different sizes.
It’s so important to find clothes that make you feel good! I started doing that instead of worrying about size, and instead of shopping trips ending in self-loathing, they result in happiness, self confidence, and new cute clothes to add to your wardrobe👌🏼
The jumpsuit on you looked absolutely amazing honestly my favorite piece! I love videos like this makes you re think a lot of things
Girl, that jumpsuit is everything! 😍
That jumpsuit looks like it was tailored especially for you. I think this may well be one of my favourite items I’ve ever seen you try on.
That Madewell XL jumpsuit looks AMAZING on you
Your hair looks really good! I can’t wait to see your curly girl method video!
The jumpsuit on you is EVERYTHING 👏🏻
The 35 jeans looked like they fit the best in the waist.
The XL jumpsuit from Madewell is GORGEOUS on you!!!!!!! You should keep that! Seriously!!!
I don't think that beeing smaller is the important thing, but if you eat healthy and do exercize, becoming smaller is a consequenze. And yes, sure people shoulden't be bullied because of their size, but if you're obese maby beeing smaller and carring less weight may (will) help.
Anja Cassini that’s victim blaming. And not for everyone
That jumpsuit is INCREDIBLE!! You looked gorgeous and super tall in it!!
I often have the same problem with the extra fabric around the crotch area, I think it is because I do not have super wide hips, but also thick thighs like you
If you have really wide hips does pants would probably look awesome 😎
That jumpsuit is EVERYTHING
Girl that jumpsuit looks AMAZING on you😍
So many people have already said this, but once again that jumpsuit was made for you! You look incredible, so flattering and probably the best thing you've ever tried on for a video. Pls pls keep it!
I love this! I wear anywhere between a small & a 2x & I feel so confused by sizing 😣
All hail the queen for a bonus upload 🙌
please do more of this !
Please keep that jumpsuit it looks amazing 🥰🥰
I thought I had lost my mind when she said yellow dress hahaha
Kudos to Skylar she did a fabulous job at picking these items! You look amazing Sierra!♡
SIERRA I love you so much, thank you for always making me smile! Love from Germany!
LOVVVVEEED this video. I am also in a midsized body as well and the struggle is so real with clothing just not being designed with our bodies in mind. I am so grateful for you and the beautiful and real content that you create. LOVE you!
i cannot relate to wanting to cover my butt lmao, let that thing shine
That jumpsuit flatters you so well. Love it!
I’ve never been so early! Love your videos, Sierra!!
that fakeout ending that cut to your end screen 20 seconds in had me laughing so hard!!
XXL is not the equivalent to a 1X.
I think she was taking about torrid sizes they go from 00 0 1 2 3 and so on a 0 is an xl so a 1 is an xxl
Honestly, I think that clarification would help a lot of the sizing on this channel. It seems like a 1X to a 2X is a great fit on lots of the clothes she tries on, but that is definitely not the same as an XXL.
A XXL from department stores is a 1 from plus size stores.
I honestly do not understand the different terms for sizing, really should be universal!
Edit:perhaps just the ACTUAL measurements stated in the garment would be the answer!! 😁
Had to scroll way too far to find this comment! Totally not the same.
That Madewell jumpsuit is literally the cutest thing I’ve ever seen you in (besides dress up clothes)! ❤️
Omg Sierra I love your Disney princess costume story time on TikTok 😂❤️
Needed this video, super helpful in reminding me about being kind to my body and not worry about size rather how the items fit.
Me trying to double tap on the video to like it
It going ahead 10 seconds
Me realizing this isn’t TikTok and it’s UA-cam 🤦🏼♀️lol
Ps i love your vids
that jumpsuit was super cute and you looked so good in it!
You should try to style costco clothes for a week. (Idk what they have nowadays)
The Madewell jumpsuit looks amazing. Keep it!
*anyone who is reading this, you’re amazing and beautiful and bokje can tell you otherwise!! Hope you have a nice day and week!*
You're so sweet! You too!
@@Billybloop Boujee? Its a word for fancy.
@@Billybloop assuming a typo... did they mean to say "nobody" or "no one" idk
♥️♥️
The jumpsuit was so flattering!!
Wow so early to this one. So excited to watch fully. You’re brilliant by the way! Love your vids so much Xxx
Truly, that's why you should shop local and small. I work in a boutique and am always able to help since I know how the clothes fit different body types. Sizes don't really say anything, they're just a guide. 💛🧡💙
Wow you looked so good in that jumpsuit! I love it and hope you kept it 😄
I have never seen you look so fantastic as when you had the jumpsuit on! It was so flattering I hope your keeping that one! X
