I know you don’t want to share what’s been going on in your personal life, but please know that your fan base cares about you and your mental health. You are more then the content you produce, and you are allowed to take breaks. Happy early birthday to your sweet sweet Grace, and thank you for continuing to be a fantastic mother. ❤️

I truly couldn’t have said it better myself, except, just know that my mom struggled with depression my entire life, and she was a single mom, and although she passed a little over a year ago, I see her beauty and resilience in you. That’s why I started watching years ago, because you reminded me (and still do) of a younger version of my mom. It’s totally gonna be okay and Gracie, will see the beauty in having a mom with mental illness, because it’s so special in my opinion, the moments that you GET to share when dealing with that. I love you Sierra and I can’t even express, but I just know that my mom is gonna be there for you too, she saw a few of your videos and loved the confidence and just mental health help you’ve given me. You’re gonna be amazing just as she was and I have no doubt in my mind because you’re already so beautiful inside and out.

Perhaps the greatest irony is that princess Polly is now VERY size inclusive for Australia. I don’t think it’s actually reflective of the sizes of Australian people but in Australia we traditionally have rather small size ranges. A lot of straight sizes in stores only go up to an Aus 14/16 (American 10/12). It’s slowly moving towards 18 (American 14) being an option too in straight sized stores but it’s rare. And in terms of plus size, a lot of sizing seems to stop at Aus 20… which is an American 16 or so… so yeah, sizing is a real pain in Australia and we also just don’t have the luxury of the same amount of choice. Prices also are usually more for less quality… even fast fashion is more expensive. This is not across the board of course but it doesn’t surprise me that Princess Polly is exxy while not having the same level of quality you’d expect.

I think the issue with ‘misleading’ sizing comes from the fact that you are an American shopping an Australian brand. US numbered sizing is the equivalent to AU 2 sizes bigger, and I find that American brands are far more size inclusive right off the bat. I am Australian and about a size 18-20 in bottoms (US 14-16) and I have a really hard time finding pants/skirts/shorts that fit in store in Australia; like almost impossible. My partner is American and we visit family there often (pre COVID 😢) and I almost never struggle to find my size in store when I shop there.
So Princess Polly introducing this ‘plus size range’ that maxes out at an AU 24 is pretty typical of an Australian plus size range. Many brands don’t go above a size 16, maybe 18, so 24 is considered pretty good.
I personally agree that it doesn’t go far enough and true size inclusive brands need to be reaching AT LEAST a 28-30 (AU), and ideally would go higher than even that, but that’s just not the reality here.
This all to say that while it is frustrating they don’t carry bigger sizes, it’s not an issue with them being ‘true to size’ or trying to mislead people/misrepresent their sizing, rather just an issue with idea of what inclusive sizing means - in Australia in particular.

It is important to remember that the letter sizing is not the same from country to country. This seems to be an Australian brand, which means that the letter sizing might not match what the American letter sizing is. Coming from Europe, the sizes check out for me: I wear EU size 38, UK size 10, letter size M. At the same time, I have noticed that if I order clothes from the US, I have to pick size S.
It does not negate the issue of size inclusivity, but recently I have seen more than one video where Americans assume that all sizing match American sizing, so I felt like it was worth mentioning.

@@bethanychance7781 what OP means, is that, in Aus, is pretty standard for an XL to equate to an Aus 14 (and a US 10). Therefore, if you work up from there, a 6X would classically be an Aus 24 (US 20) Almost nowhere in Aus carries larger than a 24. So OP meant the lettering is tied to the Aus Number, rather than the US number. But Sierra did order her correct size

This sizing chart has cleared up things a little for me. I always wondered how we wore completely different sizes even when I felt our bodies looked alike. But there is huge difference in German vs. US sizing it seems. Also reminds me last time I ordered an XL from Abercrombie and it was too big when usually a size XXL in Germany runs too small on me. Sizing is all over the place and can turn shopping into a terrible experience.

    • @dragonarya6
      @dragonarya6 2 роки тому +6

Exactly this! I was so confused, since the XL here shows size 44, which is completely normal in the Netherlands. XL is usually the same as a 44. so the chart looked normal to me. Nowadays, I just check the chart to see if they have CM sizes in there just to be sure. With online shopping it's just impossible to know exactly otherwise.

If we’re being honest the brand literally can’t be sustainable and ethical with the amount of clothes in their collection, the frequency of their releases and the prices, like there’s just no way. This is no shade to you (that would be total hypocrisy on my part) because sustainable and ethical fashion isn’t accessible to everyone. However, I think it’s important that we understand the fast fashion model completely contradicts the foundations of sustainable and ethical fashion and it’s impossible for this company to have even remotely the same business model as it has now if it wants to change for the better. I tend to distrust promises for future change when I know that they will inevitably have to become less profit focussed for a significant amount of time.

I don't see an issue with 'not inclusive' brands, all brands have to make a decision about how many sizes they will stock, theyll decide basically on which sizes they think will sell the most. truth is most people are not going to buy a size bigger than 20 so companies are unlikely to make it. It's equally difficult to find extreme small sizes in clothes- especially for men. I don't think it should reflect badly on the brand. Its not feasible for every clothing brand to stock XXXS up to XXXL.

30 day returns is pretty standard in the US, for US companies, but you have to remember when buying online, especially in the US, you can be buying from anywhere in the world, so US laws don’t apply. Also in the US, we don’t pay customs or VAT tax, so we don’t always know where we are buying from.

Another thing that drives me nuts about Princess Polly (coming from someone who used to LOVE them, I even worked with them on IG for a sponsored post. Since then, I have gained a bit of weight. A lot of the stuff they sell that I would’ve typically gone for, still only goes up to size 12. What is the point in a brand expanding their sizing if it’s different items anyway? At that point, you’re just buying from them because it’s Princess Polly and not because you can get the same dress you saw on someone that you liked and wanted to get for yourself.
Also, at the end of the day, they’re still considered ultra fast fashion like Shein, so it’s interesting that they greenwash so much (like H&M) implying that they’re sustainable when they’re not. It’s pretty much the equivalent of buying single use plastic for everything, but buying paper straws to be eco friendly. It’s performative.

I know a few people have said it's Aussie sizing, which it is, but the thing I haven't seen people say is that unfortunately in Australia a 4x is considered the normal range for plus - which is nuts
We have a huge problem with plus size accessiblity in Australia, especially for anyone above a US size 18 (aus 22). Very genuinely the fact that they stock a aus 24 is better than the average offerings, which is pretty terrible
Definitely something Australia is behind the 8 ball on

@@stellaplunkett6456 Hi Sheila, the reality is that it doesn't cost much more to produce a plus sized garment, and every person deserves to have access to clothes that fit them regardless of how their body does or doesn't look. Clothes don't motivate people to be thin it just makes you feel terrible if you can't find something that looks good.
The average sized women in Australia is a size 16-18, which isn't even stocked by most brands.
Clothes actually define the spaces people are accepted in, can't find a blazer or professional clothes in you size and you can't work in business or succeed in a job interview, can't find outdoor gear and you can't hike, can't find a swim suit and you can't go to the beach. Clothes turn these things into exclusive activities and remove access of these places for all.
Clothing is important, and access matters, regardless of size.

The sizing thing is something I noticed start to happen about a year ago, I work in fashion and I started seeing my company carrying larger sizes, XXLs and 1X/2Xs when I had only seen up to an XL in designers like Faithfull where the XL is a 10. Upon further examination, a 1X or XXL was a 14 or sometimes even a 12 according to the designers size chart. It’s trickling down through most mainstream stores too. It’s very frustrating because I’ve consistently been a L/12 or 31/32 my entire adult life and now, at the same body size, I’m almost always at least an XL or denim size 34 unless I’m shopping somewhere like Aerie or Madewell where they’ve been inclusive for years. It’s basically a marketing ploy to appear inclusive without actually changing anything and sizing just scaled up from a size model who’s generally a 2/4 or XS/S which doesn’t really work.
