Petite refers to height being 5’3 or under, not thin!!!! Ive never seen a tall thin woman shop for petite clothes and petite clothes come in 0-plus sizes. The clothes are hemmed shorter for petite sizing. Brandy melville is not for all petite girls, just skinny girls🤷🏾♀️
Sierra Schultzzie OMG you replied to me!!! Love your channel. You are sooooo super sweet and even though im not mid size anymore, your channel is still super helpful 💞💞💞
Exactly, I am 5’3 but I only fit their tank tops. I’m pretty flat and I don’t have big hips, but I still don’t fit in their skirts and pants. I’m 121lbs sooo yeah that’s too heavy/fat to properly fit their clothes
I don’t agree with Brandy’s one size thing but I tend to shop there because I am very small and it is one of the only brands I can shop at without feeling like I’m an ugly twig and need more curves to be beautiful. I don’t think people take into account the smaller people on the other end of the spectrum when taking about Brandy’s smaller sizing. I obviously don’t agree with their smaller sizing but I’m going to buy their clothing if it is one of the only brands that make me feel comfortable and confident about my body. Sorry for the rant lol loved the vid.
I'm so glad someone said it. As much as people talk about how hard it is to find clothing on the larger end of the size spectrum it's just as hard to find it in an extra small. Alot of stores dont even carry xs and that's so annoying. Wish there was less "skinny" shaming in general.
Agreed. I feel like the message of both of their channels as a whole is that no two bodies are shaped the same, regardless of the number, and that we should stop judging each other (and ourselves) for not looking exactly like everyone else.
I understand, I’m not that thin but I’m short so I only fit xs or s sometimes but I have seen very thin girls that don’t fit in their jeans (they are too big for them) and Brandy Melville fit is for a kind off curvy, large and thin girl.
Yes. But their marketing strategies are the issue. I see no problem in a one size brand, but I see an issue In: 1. No diversity. Most models and workers are white and blonde. 2. They don’t market towards “smaller or petite women,” they market more towards teenagers and young adults in some cases. And that size range is COMPLETELY over the place. 3. Their models aren’t healthy looking. Most are very underweight. Take American Eagle for example, their models have diversity (all skin colours and tones) and their bodies are REAL. The naturally skinny, thicker girls, plus size, athletic, EVERY ONE. I shop from brands like that. ✊
Bri Lane never did I once say being skinny is unhealthy. In some cases, yes it is. Yes being big is unhealthy too, (in some cases) but just showing one body type (unhealthy or not) it’s dangerous to others mental heath.
@@overeva i know like there are really cute clothes in plus size stores too so idk why they hate on brandy for that but there is no diveristy too which is not really good for the young people they are influencing.
Sierra, you said in your last video that people tend to comment on your body saying you "look more like a 14", a video from Carrie just popped up on my front page where she tried on sizes people says she is. Maybe if you did a video trying on size 14 you could show people that you obviously know your body and your size better? I think it could be fun to show them how size 14 truly fits on you! 😂
I wouldn’t have guessed Carrie and Sierra were the same size because, as they’ve said in their collab videos thus far, they’re proportioned so differently. I am shaped more like Carrie and I can’t button anything smaller than a 12. I am not curvy though. I’ve met plenty of women who “look larger than me” but also wear size 12’s.
@@matchajoon body shapes and weight are different on everyone. Im 12 pounds heavier than my bestfriend DD boobs (she has D) and have a butt. I wear a size 10 and L with room in both articles. My friend who is 12 pounds lighter wears a 12 and XL. Sooo yeah. It's like that with almost every female you are associated with, try asking and you will see.
Mary Hines same! I’m a 14 but my body is a lot less stout than Sierra’s. I always thought she lied about her size and tried to fit smaller until these collabs. My body is closer to Carrie’s as well... proportion is amazing :D
I am extremely small and struggle to find things that fit me and all of Brandy Melville’s stuff fits me perfectly! So I always feel really good when shopping there!😁
People in the comments talking about how damaging it is for a store to only cater to a specifically small size, but remember- not all females who are size 00 WANT to be that small or smaller. They may have the same body image issues as someone who feels overweight and can't fit into "standard" clothing in "normal" stores. This store gives those girls an option. Just because someone is "small/tiny" doesn't mean they're a bad influence to young girls. They just want clothes to fit them, too. #bodypositivity #allbodiesarebeautiful
@@icyfendi7903 That's the same as saying that a larger girl can't have issues With her body if she is wearing tight clothing. Educate yourself. Having issues With Your body and dressing a certain way doesn't always correlate.
i understand your point but when the brand only exclusively carries one size that fits xs-s it appears as they’re sending a message saying you can only be that size to wear our clothing. Brandy would benefit hugely from expanding their sizes but choose not to. that’s the message they send.
CuriousCat there’s like one store i can think of off the top of my head that caters to larger women, but if you asked me to list stores that cater to smaller women i could list a dozen
I like what you said at the end, having store for petite women is totally okay and necessary, but one size is never a good option. Even small girls have different body types that call for different sizes.
Love that you decided not to give your money to a company that isn’t inclusive even though you did find some things you liked. Such an important message for young girls and even women to learn ❤️
@@suckmydixk3684 apparently people have never been in a + size store . The plus size stores range from sizes 8 through 20+ . Not just focus One 1 specific size. The store these girls are reviewing only offer size S. only that 1 size. So there is a difference.
Lilliana Valencia thats completely true! I am a size 14-16 and I think that Brandy Melville has SUCH cute clothing but, like they said in the video, I don’t really think it’s a good message to send to younger girls who think that they must fit that one size in order to feel excepted. Even if I do find something that’s cute and fits, I don’t think I would buy it :/
Katie McAdams even petite girls arent all one size. Only having one size is a bit crazy. If there were stores that were petite stores people wouldnt have a problem with it. Plus store sizes have a large range of sizes because, just like petite, plus size is not one size.
nils im literally a size small but go ahead and try to figure that out from a comment on a UA-cam video. All i said is that petite is not a size its a body type. So a petite store would not be just one size it would be multiple sizes for that body type. Just like plus size is not a size its a type. Plus size stores have several sizes. A store that only carries one size is a bit ridiculous.
I am an aspiring designer and I feel if your design will only look good on skinny people (or if you believe your design will only look good on skinny people), you are not a good designer. If you only design for one size, you are not showing talent.
@@mish_elle1450 I understand target markets, but if an entire career is based on designs that only look good on a hanger (which models are meant to be living hangers- aka why standard measurements are so small), then in my opinion, that designer is a bad designer with some pretty designs. Now individual designs that cater to one body type or another is one thing, but if every piece in every collection every season every year is only considered good on one set of measurements, then the designer is showing limited ability in their work. If they can't conceptualize an item they would look good on some one with a bust or a butt or no thigh gap, their capabilities are limited.
Yes! Say it again louder! I have always felt this way about high fashion. Get some real curves and lumps out there a show me how to show off what I've got.
the same can be said for brands and designers that cater to only plus size. or only to womens clothes or only men's clothes. they probably can design for other demographics but they chose to focus on one group. much like a doctor. they all get the same basic training but they choose to specialize in a certain area. theres nothing wrong with wanting to cater to a certain demographic. there are other places to shop at. no one is forcing you to shop there. to say their brand is damaging to young girls isnt fair. thats on the parents for not raising their girls to be strong in their own skin. you shouldnt allow a brand dictate how you feel about yourself. no matter the age or size.
I think a big point is is that there are not many teenage girls shopping with friends who are excited to go to torrid or another plus size store, and the petite girl feeling left out. It’s smaller girls getting excited about brandy, and there bigger friend is left out. That’s shattering for a teen’s self confidence.
I try to buy more clothes that are more tight because you inspire me to love and accept my body. I started working out 2 times a week and i’m trying to eat healthier. But getting things that make me feel good, also help a lot. Thank you girls! ☺️
I went to Brandy Melville just a few weeks ago (I'm a sucker for the jewelry) and tried a few items on. I came pretty close to a breakdown in the fitting room. I've gained some weight recently and am maybe a size 8 now, and none of the cute skirts they have there would even go past my thighs. I also tried on a sweater I've been eyeing for a while and well, it "fit" technically, but it was so tight and uncomfortable and just didn't look the way it was supposed to. Overall, miserable experience, and I'm not going to buy jewelry there anymore because they just suck as a company.
@@icedmocha5264 fun fact, you can have a petite body and still be a larger size :) and there's absolutely no reason to lose weight if you're healthy (which I am). In just these replies we have a size 8, 2, and 0 who don't fit into BM clothes. So if it were just about weight… who exactly do they cater to?
@@icedmocha5264 dude… I'm not upset about my clothing size going up. And their clothes have never fit me, not before I gained weight this year, not when I was a little freshman in high school. And in case you can't read, there is literally a comment from a size 0 person in this thread… who couldn't fit into Brandy Melville clothes. The problem is that they're not even a petite clothing store, like how there are specific plus size stores. They don't even claim to carry clothes for petite women anywhere. They're a brand for teen girls and young women. And they sell clothes in one arbitrary, tiny size. They're a store unofficially catering to skinny girls, not petite girls. And that's inherently problematic and causes self esteem issues for so many impressionable young girls who think that something is wrong with them because they can't fit into these clothes, and that is fucked up.
I feel like plus size stores are exclusive to plus size gals but I think brandy is good for petite girls ,, personally I don’t think there’s a problem with the sizing just at the other end of the spectrum to plus size- plus size exclusive and petite exclusive 💖💖💕💕💕
I think the problem is that brandy is a very popular store. You don't see the popular social media girls, that young girls look up to, all wearing the same plus size brand. So I don't think it's the same, no one feels excluded because they can't wear plussize clothing, you know what I mean?
Abigail Barnes petite means short, not necessarily thin (common misconception). Petite sizing caters to shorter arms, legs, torsos etc. You can be petite at any size. But to your point I’m not that upset about a store that caters to thin women as we do have stores like Avenue that cater to bigger women and stores like Fashion Nova that cater to curvy girls.
I don't see any issue with a shop that caters to size small, just as I wouldn't see an issue with a shop that caters to a larger size. I feel like if this video was flipped and it was a very small 'skinny' girl going in to a plus sized shop and criticising it, saying that none of the clothes fit her, it would be considered very rude and offensive. I don't consider this video offensive at all, but I just feel like there is a little bit of a double standard.
@@petinimor they dont say that they are a petite company. They say they cater to teenagers and young women. That is the difference. Plus size stores say they are plus size stores. Brandy just says they're for teenagers and young women. Who might i add come in all different shapes and sizes.
Melanie R-F The difference is plus size stores cater to multiple sizes in plus size. Brandy Melville excludes all other straight sizes except small. Not trying to argue! I just don’t understand their business tactics. At least include medium and large!
I’m a really tiny human so most of their clothes fit me, most are too big, but I don’t think this is how it should be. There are so many body shapes and one size can’t possibly fit all. I love you Sierra, keep up the good work you beautiful queen👑❤️
Your message and self-love is so inspiring. I'm a medium sized girl too and have always struggled with body confidence. Finding your channel has helped me to begin my journey to self-acceptance too, and I can't say thank you enough.
I once went to Brandy Melville when I was like somewhere around 16. I had an absolutely horrible relationship with my body at that time. I remember leaving the store feeling absolutely miserable and some of the employees actually gave me weird looks. It was shattering. Now i'm probably the same size I was then (10-12) after being thinner for a few years and I'm working really hard to be ok with my body. Brandy Melville makes people who dont conform to their standard doubt of their worth!! especially if they are young girls and ESPECIALLY if they havent stopped buying into society's expectations yet. Sierra your channel has been a big part of my own body positivity journey and i am so grateful.
if you were a size 10-12 why on earth would you go to a store for size xs/small? It's like a skinny girl going to torrid. You're bad experience wasn't the store's fault, it was yours.
I definitely think they're catering to "skinny", not petite, and that's not a good message. Even then, the items are not all gonna fit right on a "skinny" body. A friend of mine's body type is taller and skinny, but half that stuff probably would've been a crop top when it should've been a regular shirt. Just producing different sizes, even XS to XL, would make such a huge difference! Until they do that, I won't be dropping a penny on their inventory. (Also, thrifting is just more fun and special!)
@@ilianastenovitch the thing is, us skinny people have a lot of stores that cater to us. I can literally go to the kids/teen section of most stores and pick up a t-shirt or even jacket because I'm skinny and also about average height at 5'5. These people that aren't really thin but also not really is sized have a hard time in most stores. My older sister is one of those people too and finding something that acty fits her is a frustrating ordeal.
@@ilianastenovitch That's fair, but when you think about it, almost every store caters to a smaller body and pushes that image onto younger people. I get that people can't control their size a whole lot, but deliberately just having a one size when you're promoting on trend looks that a lot of different body types will want?? Not the best publicity or message.
Kat Jo people keep saying how many brand cater to smaller sizes, but I feel like people think just having a size small is enough. Idk why but I never fit into clothes in normal stores, the proportions are way off. Brand Melville clothes fit like a true small or XS, which can feel amazing when I usually feel like my body is messed up because of my proportions. I understand people’s frustration in the lack of size diversity, but it’s really nice to have a store that really fits me. It can feel degrading when you fit in little kids jeans better than women’s, it’s nice to have real clothes you know
I feel like being tall and skinny makes it REALLY difficult to find clothes. My inseam is 32” and most jeans brands don’t carry that length, and if they do it’s usually their “tall” size and even then the waist usually doesn’t go below a 29” (this is true for Madewell, among others). Additionally, I am a size small in tops, but most size smalls assume that the rest of you is also very small so the arms and shoulders/bust of shirts is super uncomfortable but if I size up the shirt just looks too big and I lose my shape. With dresses the smaller you go the shorter they get so I just have to sacrifice the proper fit of the dress to not show my butt. I have the same breakdowns and shopping struggles as many others and it bothers me that people always say “oh well everything is made for tall and skinny people” because it’s not. Sizes are done proportionally where in smalls everything is small and in a size large everything gets equally larger, when not all bodies are like that. I think clothing is just hard to make for everyone and hard to shop for. I think Brandy Melville’s problem lies in their branding, if they specifically targeted size smalls and said “look we made this for you” not as many people would mind, idk why they don’t. I’ve had really good luck buying clothes from them and very few other places, plus it’s all made in Italy which is nice. I get the frustration though, I just wish they marketed differently.
Not trying to sound rude but personally I thought everything u tried on fit well and u look amazing . I definitely think u could have rocked brandy Melville clothes
Also you should vote with your money and support brands that support various body sizes and types. Not just one that is an elite club of trendy clothes unavailable to any size that isn't a small.
I love this video, brandy melvilles clothes are cute but I would love if they had more sizes.. I’m a medium and can’t even fit into some of there things. You guys are beautiful
Str Essed I’m 5’2 and a medium/large and I can’t really fit into most things there as a teenager. Rather than saying petite I really think they should just say it’s for smaller sizes since most retail stores don’t cater to those that are very small or small in general. Petite isn’t a xs-s it’s just someone under 5’4 so it gets people’s hopes up
I’m gonna say that when I was in middle school, I was really skinny and couldn’t gain weight. Which may not sound like a problem but it was getting to be a problem because I couldn’t “eat enough” to put on weight because that would be unhealthy too. So seeing a store that caters to young and small girls isn’t a bad message (in my opinion.) I get not everyone is the same body type so definitely “one size fits all” isn’t going to work but bashing a company because it doesn’t cater to everyone’s body is unfair. Also think about how everyone knows that when they walk into Brandy Melville, they know what to expect. That set them apart from other clothing stores...was it the best strategy, maybe not but it got them well known so it worked for them.
Hey Sierra, I just watched your body confidence makeover series in one go and it made me realize all the things I like about my body and my face. I feel really confident in my skin and also motivated and exited to try out new things. Thank you so much for everything you are doing on this channel!
Brandy Melville is a store for thin, petite girls. That's kind of the entire idea of the store, just like torrid is for plus size women who have trouble finding cute plus size clothes, brandy is for small girls who have trouble finding cute small clothes. Believe it or not it's actually really hard to find xs clothes, most stores don't carry that size anymore because americans are getting bigger. I get how a "one size fits small" store can be harmful to impressionable teens, but at the same time I don't get why someone who isn't a size small/xs would even go to that store when they know none of it will fit them. There's nothing wrong with not fitting into petite clothing, but there's really no point in complaining about something not fitting you that clearly wasn't made for your body type.
Because when you’re a teenager. Other girls can be really mean and awful. When all of your friends are wearing brandy and you are the only one who can’t because they only have one size. That is really hard on you. For example say a group of friends went to the mall and they went to brandy and They all got cute matching outfits and you couldn’t get it cause it didn’t fit you and you couldn’t size up. That is absolutely deviating . I understand it’s hard to find those really small sizes but they should still have sizes that rang alittle. Like go up to a medium or something. The marketing and mindset of brandy is not okay and very hurtful to so many girls. Especially their main demographic being teen girls who think that they have to fit into those tiny sized clothes to feel cool and fit in with their friends. And not be left out.
i love your message about not giving your money to a company you dont believe in. A lot of my friends love brandy melville and when we go shopping together i just kinda stand around pretending to look for clothes while they try stuff on there
I love Brandy Melville, even though I don't fit any of their pants. It's definitely not made for ever body type but the same thing goes for other brands. Also I really enjoy the "one size" system, since once you know how it fits your body, you can literally just grab things without trying them on. In my opinion, I don't think Brandy is trying to separate certain body shapes from others, it is just a concept store with a specific kind of branding idea like any other store.
Body wise I can’t relate to you as much because I’m very tall and small around but I adore you and your videos! I love your positivity and personality. Although we have very different bodies, I really genuinely enjoy watching your videos! Keep up the amazing work❤️
I’ve had a lot of body image issues lately and your videos and your confidence have really helped me. Because of you, I’m shopping for bikinis again. Thank you ❤️
What’s wrong with being skinny? As long as you’re healthy (physically and mentally) everything should be fine. Body positivity isn’t just about lifting up “curvy girls”. Skinny/thin/slender girls need and deserve love too!
I don't think they were saying its bad that they cater for skinner girls, I think they were saying its bad that they ONLY cater for skinny girls, especially because its already hard to find larger sizes in regular stores. Sometimes I like Brandy because they cater to thinner people that may not have clothes that fit them in regular stores either, but then sometimes I think they're just trying to cash in on that exclusivity and ideology that beauty is thin. I don't know.
Elise Johnston I think the problem is people see it as a petite store but it’s really only for one size which is XS-S which is fine to me because it fits me, but I think if they spread out their sizing then it would take a lot of the backlash away. Like XS-M because petite means more like you’re short rather than skinny. You can be an XS or a L but if you’re both under 5’4 you’re still petite
I see no problem with having a store that caters to thinner people. However, not every thin girl is the same size/height. If BM wants to cater specifically for thinner girls, they should still have multiple sizes. Having one size is just being lazy in my opinion
If that's the message that you got from this video then you clearly didn't watch most of this video or any of Sierra's other videos. If you do watch her videos, then you must not listen very well because that's not what anyone was saying. Sierra never thought there was anything wrong with catering specifically to skinny girls. Obviously everyone needs clothes and I understand that it could be difficult to find clothes everywhere. However, if a store wants to do this, then they should advertise themselves as a petite clothing brand. Brandy does not do this, and instead claims to be "one size fits all." By them only making a size xs/s and saying that it should fit everyone, this is purposefully excluding every other size and making people think that their size isn't normal or right. This makes girls of other sizes feel ugly, or fat, even if they are just a size medium. Plus size stores on the other hand are marketing and advertising themselves as for larger people. They don't claim to be "one size fits all" they are simply trying to represent people that are typically not represented. Another problem with Brandy is that their clothes are not actually any smaller or more fit to petite girls than a size xs/s would be at any other store. If Brandy was making clothes in like a 00 or 000 which are rarer sizes, and marketing themselves as a petite store than maybe the argument of including smaller sizes could be relevant. However they don't do that rendering any argument of "inclusivity to skinny people" utterly irrelevant and incorrect. Any size you buy there I guarantee you that you could buy at Target, except at Target it would have inclusive size tags and a much lower price. Everyone deserves love, you were right about that, but if you really wanted that, then you would actually listen and try to comprehend what people like Sierra are trying to say. Companies like Brandy are most definitely not trying to spread positivity, love or inclusivity.
Elise Johnston I agree except for where u said that it’s harder for plus size women to find clothes. most stores stock more large sizes than small ones
lsten22 - You have clothing in so many other stores. And you are not an oppressed group by any means. It would be like having something that caters only to white people. What is the point? Are white people lacking resources in any way? No. That's why it would be an issue.
m1nt te4 clearly you aren’t the body type we’re talking about. As someone who is quite thin, I can NEVER find clothes that fit me right. Those stores you’re talking about usually don’t go smaller than a small and they are usually a oversized item. Brandy Melville was one of the first stores that made me feel comfortable and confident in fitted clothes. Sorry that they don’t cater to everyone, but it’s their brand, they don’t need to. And the inclusive brands everyone talks about, can go up to 5x and only down to a small or XS, so please don’t tell me how easy it is to find clothes that fit
Some woman are just built smaller and can’t fit in some brands smallest suze. They are naturally built slimmer and smaller. There are many companies catering to the plus size area but not many to small woman. Brandy and top shop both deliver. It is inclusive to people who don’t have that many options 💛🌞
@@maggie3074 while the societal ideal is thin thin thin, having a store that caters only to that group will always be a contentious issue. And something that, in my opinion, shouldn't exist. Again, because of the issues I raised before. Please consider that example. Unless you think things only for white people are acceptable.
coming from someone that is like xs-s and like 00-0 i am very thankful that brandy has cute clothes that actually fit me cause for exemple in regular stores the smallest skirts tend to fall and at brandy they fit perfectly and like i get why people hate the “one size fits small” thing but us small girls also need options.
I kinda knew this video would be about Brandy Melville, when you hinted about the other side of the body positive spectrum I was like this is it! I'm so excited! Also It's midnight where I'm at I stayed up for this ♥️😭
I appreciate this video, Sierra you looked amazing in the fitted long-sleeve shirt and I wish stores had more inclusive sizes, but as someone who is exactly the size of 99% of Brandy Melville clothes, I like that there's a store catered to people who are my size (at most stores my size always seems to run out first). I follow a few plus sized women online and I'm always a little jealous when they shop at Torrid and I know i can't have those cute, high quality clothes because they just dont have any clothes in my size. It's unfortunate but you cant hate a company for not having your size. That being said, Torrid should make small sizes and Brandy Melville should have bigger sizes so we can all be cute and matching together haha.
plus-sized stores sell multiple sizes because plus-size isn’t ‘one size’. skinny also isn’t ‘one size’. this is just laziness, and the fact that they use younger models for their demographic (there have been accounts of a majority of models used being 13-15, predominantly 14) + market towards those with the highest demographic of developing EDs + the elitist attitude that comes with shopping there + the unethical production/low quality of a lot of their products... bro, at least plus-sized stores advocate for confidence with your body and don’t try to market towards fucking teenagers/glorify a body type that is likely unattainable for most of the market.
I love love loooovvveee the two of you!!! I had abdominal surgery a few months ago, since then I have gained so much weight. I would not leave the house, I hated buying clothes, anytime I did I would just cry and give up. I was just SO super uncomfortable in my own body, I hated it. But I have to say I found Sierra first and from her I found Carrie -finding the two of you has helped me so much!! You both have helped me start to love myself again, I’m not totally there but y’all have helped me start. And I can’t tell you how much the two of you have helped me, I love you both!!!! You both are so beautiful, this world is blessed to have y’all!!!!
@@lvoyant people can be fit and strong at ANY SIZE without being stick thin like an instagram model. please think about how rude that was of you to say.
Mandy Preach. Being stick thin doesn’t equal being healthy, strong, or fit. Most super thin people I know never even try, they don’t go to the gym, or eat well, it’s just their body type. So the next time @Ivoyant wants to judge someone they can think about every factor that goes into being healthy. Healthy isn’t thin. Healthy isn’t obese either, but she is not obese. And she’s eating well and working out so you can never put someone down for trying to get healthier, even if they don’t lose weight. Health comes from within not from what you look like without. So keep opinions to yourself.
@Maria Andy if I had asked her routine right now then I probably wanted to know her current gym routine not 6 months old or one year old routine. She's the one I look up to for my fashion choices so I thought I can look upto her gym routine also. Her skin her face her body looks much healthier than before. And that was the reason why I had asked her.
Love this collaboration! I may be focused on gardening on my channel, but I love how you are growing positive attitudes, kindness, and sassafras on your channel. Your collab with Carrie was such a great example for young humans about how size really means a whole lot of nothing!
I dont fit in their clothing but i dont think there is anything wrong catering to one size . Just like there are shops that have only Plus size ... Each company chooses their own demographic which is why sizes are diff. From store to store
You know, people give brandy so much shit cause they sell smaller clothes but you don’t see skinny girls complaining cause torrid doesn’t have there size. It’s targeting a specific size, and I am pretty big myself, but I’ve heard so many small girls say it’s hard to find things that properly fit them just like how bigger girls struggle.
honestly they are so picky!! “it fits, but not they way i want it too.” like cmon 🤦🏽♀️ brandy melville isn’t meant for plus size adults, it’s meant for petite teenagers 🤦🏽♀️
I’m a normal 10/12 but get a lot of my tops from brandy and they fit really nice and still are that oversized fit. It’s interesting to see how fit and size never seem to mean the same thing. Love the video concept.
People need to stop shaming Brandy for being a one size small brand, its a brand for smaller girls. There are plenty stores that are structured more towards bigger girls, and both are fine.
Omg!!! Sierra you look so so cute in that turtle neck!! It might not be your style, but you should try it! Omg but I am happy you didnt spend any money there. I wouldnt either, but I deffinantly think you should look for a turtle neck like that one in a different store;)
I love hearing your take on brand sizing!! Your videos are always interesting. I love the variety of stores you visit and your Soulcycle video? So cool! You have such a unique channel❤
Thank you for doing these videos especially on the true “SAD” message that the Brandy Melville continues to portray. I remember when my beautiful daughter so wanted to shop at this shop as a lot of her fellow classmates were shopping at this this shop. My daughter was entering her senior year of high school when she wanted to shop at Brandy Melville and unfortunately at the time I had no idea what this shop sizing was about. I learned very quickly that I personally didn’t like this store and what it was doing to girls and their self esteem. My daughter who was 17 at the time left the store disappointed and hating herself. At that time I gave my daughter the biggest I hug I could and repeatedly told her that she wasn’t the problem, the company was. I assured my daughter that she was the right size for herself (she was then the average size for girl her height and cultural background)I was very angry with company’s poor sizing standards and what their poor business practices were back then and sadly it appears their business practices haven’t changed for the better. My daughter returned to Brandy Melville a few months ago as she had hoped that she would be able to fit into some of their clothes as she has lost weight and still had the same difficulties has she had experienced 3-4 years earlier. Again, she had fit into clothes as before but the fit and comfort was non-existence; and for the money the quality too wasn’t in place. I’m thrilled that my daughter has grown into a very beautiful young lady and has confidence that Brandy Melville hasn’t been able to take away. Also, I wanted thank you both for doing these styles of videos and sharing to your audience that size indicated on a garment may not fit all and that it is okay for that as “We All are BEAUTIFUL”!!!
But what about plus size stores? They only make clothes for people over a certain size. Brandy makes clothes for more petite people. I don't really see why people hate on them so much.... But I love the video!! Keep up the great work ❤️
FluffyUnicornEx * I think it's because plus size stores brand themselves as a plus size store so you immediately know what you’re gonna get. Brandy doesn’t brand itself as a petite store while their ‘one size’ almost only fits petite girls
Petite people aren’t all one size though.... it’s fine if they wanted to be a Petite branded store and cater to that size much like Torrid does with plus size but have a range of petite sizing.
Brandy is not branded for petite people. Brandy is one size fits all. The message they’re sending is if you aren’t this “one size,” then you don’t fit in at this store. There is no shame in being super petite, super skinny, plus sized, mid sized, whatever. It’s just the “one size” label that shows closed-mindedness
@@kamaca1219 They never said it's one size fits all.. They just said one size.. but otherwise I totally agree with you :) and you're really pretty btw lol
I love watching both you and Carrie , coming from being in an awful place with my body for most of my life you guys have finally made me open my eyes to body positivity and how to truly love myself ! And you guys are so much fun !!! My 2 favourite channels ❤️💋
I love seeing how different the clothes fit you both. It is so cool seeing how people can be the same size but still have a unique body of their own. I would love if you guys could do these videos more at other stores because this and the first video are awesome 😍
people demonize brandy and people who shop there and they say “even though it fits you, you shouldn’t shop there because it isn’t size inclusive” but if you go by that logic, plus size people shouldn’t shop at torrid because they don’t have clothes that fit smaller people
at least plus-sized stores don’t have an active ED community starving themselves to fit into their clothes/market towards teenagers instead of the intended demographic of petite or thin people/use shady business tactics/promote ‘one true size’/promote unhealthy body standards/culture a very toxic community/have been known to mainly hire white individuals/have lazy sizing so that a majority of their targeted demographic can’t even fit into their clothing regardless of how thin they are.
I just wanted to say thank you for helping me love my new body. I was always athletic and in shape. Then I got hurt in softball and needed two major knee surgeries. Because of this I went fron a size 9 in juniors to a 14. I hated my new body and how I looked. But in watching your videos and your positivity...I have learned to love my new body and accept it for what it is. Thank you Sierra ❤
I seriously love you guys. I struggle so much with my size (I'm a size 12 US) and seeing you two be so confident and beautiful makes me realize how beautiful I truly am. ♥️
I have personally never heard of or shopped at Brandy Melville, I discovered them when Olivia Cara made a video about how ridiculous their sizes are for anyone not 100 lbs. Omg could you imagine a collab with Olivia, Carrie and Sierra?! 😍😍🤞🤞
I have shopped at Brandy Melville and I still had a mediocre experience despite being a 00. Even tho I have a tiny waist I’m also really short, being a 19 year old who’s 4’11. Their dresses looked way too long and most of their pants didn’t really fit me correctly. Additionally, some of the shirts that were meant to be cropped ended up just being normal t-shirts on me. I really only went there to buy their plaid skirts since I really liked them, but now that I have the two skirts and the embroidered white t-shirt I wanted, I doubt I’ll go back to get more basics. I could easily go back to a different store that has more inclusive sizing with basics that are very similar. I definitely think that this shows that they don’t really cater to petite sizing and that their clothes are really just meant for smaller sized girls
Yay! Love new videos from you. Love your confidence and you are seriously an inspiration to me! I’m currently pregnant and my weight gain is weighting in on me and watching your videos really help me! So thank you!!!
I was having such a hard night with my body and thinking so hard on myself but after watching this video it made me feel so much better. I’m so grateful for you and the content you create it honestly does so much for girls like me and you don’t even know the extent of it
Liking the video because I love both of you, and the fact that you're so body positive. You both always send such good messages to everyone about loving yourself & your body, and it's so lovely to watch. This store is just awful when it comes to their message. One size, I mean come on, really... It's 2019, every clothing store needs to have bigger size options, it's just not right to make people feel like they should lose weight so they can fit the "cute clothes" Sigh, maybe someday. LOVE YOU GIRLS. 💜
You and Carrie have been making so many awesome videos together that when I click on your videos or Carrie videos next and I don’t see both of you together. I am going to be disappointed. This is probably because a lot of collaborations on UA-cam seem so fake. You both seem like actual friends. Also, I was subscribed to both of you before this collaboration happened. Love both of you guys.
Sierra, I'm so happy you make videos like this. I used to be so mad when something didn't fit and it's nice to see that it's okay if something doesn't fit! I love your content and it makes me so much more confident in myself. 💗
I absolutely love your videos, your tips and body positivity has really helped me look at my body in a new perspective, build more confidence and have a beter self-image. ❤️
My problem with Brandy Melville isn’t that it caters to small, that’s totally fine. It’s that it’s a one size store. If a plus size store just carried 2x and nothing else people would be angry and it wouldn’t be inclusive. If they carried an xxxs to a small I wouldn’t have a problem with that
you’re literally my new favorite youtuber! i discovered your channel a month ago and i’m obsessed. i’m not necessarily skinny or anything so whenever i see all these really thin girls doing videos like these it makes me feel a little insecure but you make me feel SECURED!!!
I would love to see more vlog footage from inside the store in these kinds of videos! It would be fun and interesting to see you guys walking around and picking the items
THANK YOU!
Exactly, I am 5’3 but I only fit their tank tops. I’m pretty flat and I don’t have big hips, but I still don’t fit in their skirts and pants. I’m 121lbs sooo yeah that’s too heavy/fat to properly fit their clothes
I’m 5’2 and a size 6-8 and believe me I can’t squeeze into Brandy Melville lol
Fatmah Sabbagh same
I don’t agree with Brandy’s one size thing but I tend to shop there because I am very small and it is one of the only brands I can shop at without feeling like I’m an ugly twig and need more curves to be beautiful.
Omg I felt that! You worded it so well :)
you do you .
I understand, I’m not that thin but I’m short so I only fit xs or s sometimes but I have seen very thin girls that don’t fit in their jeans (they are too big for them) and Brandy Melville fit is for a kind off curvy, large and thin girl.
No hate, but people don’t understand it’s not “one size fits all” it’s just “one size” it even says that in the tag
exactly... plus the reason they do it is not just bc they dont like larger people...
Mary Bigenho thank you. I was just saying how they should incorporate more sizes.
My body is closer to Carrie’s as well... proportion is amazing :D
in jeans and stuff i’m a 14-15 and in dresses like a 11-12, i’m so much smaller than her. different weight distribution i guess
idk height places a huge difference too. I think Carrie is like 4-5 inches taller than Sierra and makes her look leaner.
I am extremely small and struggle to find things that fit me and all of Brandy Melville’s stuff fits me perfectly! So I always feel really good when shopping there!😁
OMG I CANT BELIEVE YOU LIKED MY COMMENT! I love how body positive you are and inclusive not only to plus size but petite too!(:
Yess!!! Then there are other places that if I was bigger would fit.

If they had body image issues, why the heck would they wear cropped shirts and wrap around crop tops and booty denim jean shorts...
@@jor7441 What about clothing catered exclusively to plus-sized women? Or are they exempt from that?
CuriousCat there’s like one store i can think of off the top of my head that caters to larger women, but if you asked me to list stores that cater to smaller women i could list a dozen
Carrie NEEDS to take Sierra thrifting for a video
You’re one of the only youtubers who, no matter what video it is, gives off positive vibes and is so fun to watch. ❤️❤️❤️
I like what you said at the end, having store for petite women is totally okay and necessary, but one size is never a good option. Even small girls have different body types that call for different sizes.
Loooooved this and love you! You knocked it out of the park with your truth and realness as usual 👯♀️💞
Carrie Dayton please please do more collabs you guys! I freaking love these videos ❤️😍
Ily so much! Love the message you send💓💞
Even if I do find something that’s cute and fits, I don’t think I would buy it :/
But plus size stores aren't inclusive for petite girls???
Eve Leman Leman why is she an idiot?! sorry you are all fat and ,hanger' bodies are not real ☹️
@@evegabriella7479 you're a dumbass
I think a big point is is that there are not many teenage girls shopping with friends who are excited to go to torrid or another plus size store, and the petite girl feeling left out. It’s smaller girls getting excited about brandy, and there bigger friend is left out. That’s shattering for a teen’s self confidence.
I try to buy more clothes that are more tight because you inspire me to love and accept my body. I started working out 2 times a week and i’m trying to eat healthier. But getting things that make me feel good, also help a lot. Thank you girls! ☺️
Good luck with your journey!! 💖
Fiona R i had the same experience ❤️
You are not the problem! Brandy Melville is!
@ಠ_ಠ 5"8'
They started making plus sized stores because no one had any plus sizes. Just recently more stores are adding plus sizes but it is still limited.
@@petinimor they dont say that they are a petite company. They say they cater to teenagers and young women. That is the difference. Plus size stores say they are plus size stores. Brandy just says they're for teenagers and young women. Who might i add come in all different shapes and sizes.

Gossip Girl I’d still shop there

No offense but this is so dumb. Are plus size only stores like Torrid bad too then? Since they only cater to bigger girls?...exactly
Melanie R-F The difference is plus size stores cater to multiple sizes in plus size. Brandy Melville excludes all other straight sizes except small. Not trying to argue! I just don’t understand their business tactics. At least include medium and large!
@@melanier-f2799 torrid is from sizes 8-10 to 20+

I’m a really tiny human so most of their clothes fit me, most are too big, but I don’t think this is how it should be. There are so many body shapes and one size can’t possibly fit all. I love you Sierra, keep up the good work you beautiful queen👑❤️
Your message and self-love is so inspiring. I'm a medium sized girl too and have always struggled with body confidence. Finding your channel has helped me to begin my journey to self-acceptance too, and I can't say thank you enough.
Even though I'm a guy I love you guys , you bring me lots of happiness during a dark time ❤️🌈❤️
I once went to Brandy Melville when I was like somewhere around 16. Sierra your channel has been a big part of my own body positivity journey and i am so grateful.

tropiics - I reported ye ye’s comment as bullying/harassment, since comments like that should not be acceptable on this platform and discussion.
if you were a size 10-12 why on earth would you go to a store for size xs/small? It's like a skinny girl going to torrid. You're bad experience wasn't the store's fault, it was yours.
Gillian Leon agreed lol
I’m sorry but if you knew you were bigger than most people why did u go to a ONE SIZE FITS SMALL shop expecting it to fit you..?
It can feel degrading when you fit in little kids jeans better than women’s, it’s nice to have real clothes you know
It's very odd that clothing meant for thin people are meant for thin AND short people when the fashion world is all about thin and TALL girls...
Those synchronized poses...GIRL! Yes! Loving these vids of you two together ❤️
Not trying to sound rude but personally I thought everything u tried on fit well and u look amazing .
I definitely think u could have rocked brandy Melville clothes
Maissa L just cause you look good in it doesn’t mean it fits comfortably
Also you should vote with your money and support brands that support various body sizes and types. Not just one that is an elite club of trendy clothes unavailable to any size that isn't a small.
okay honestly the coordinated posing was SO CUTE! thanks for introducing me to Carrie :)
I love the Carrie and Sierra collabs! ❤️❤️
I love this video, brandy melvilles clothes are cute but I would love if they had more sizes.. I’m a medium and can’t even fit into some of there things. You guys are beautiful
turtle me too! I have some hauls on my channel, some stuff fits awesome and some is so small:(
I mean it is meant for petite girls
I was in the same boat as you and I totally agree with what you said
This makes me feel better:) I’m a size small and not everything fits me and I feel so big when it doesn’t but ty for this vid
Confidence does so much for appearance. They both look great in everything! I honestly think it's mainly because they're smiling and strutting around
I can’t support a company that isn’t all inclusive with sizes. 🤷🏼♀️ I’ll take my hard earned money to a company who is more open minded.
lsten22 - You have clothing in so many other stores.
What about plus size stores? They only make clothes for plus size women. What if someone smaller wanted to get something but they didn't fit? 🤷
coming from someone that is like xs-s and like 00-0 i am very thankful that brandy has cute clothes that actually fit me cause for exemple in regular stores the smallest skirts tend to fall and at brandy they fit perfectly and like i get why people hate the “one size fits small” thing but us small girls also need options.
Omg I loved the synchronized posing!
I kinda knew this video would be about Brandy Melville, when you hinted about the other side of the body positive spectrum I was like this is it! I'm so excited! Also It's midnight where I'm at I stayed up for this ♥️😭
Thank you so much for inspiring us and making us feel body positive and helping us to stay strong whenever I feel insecure about myself
This is just my opinion but if we have “plus size” brands and shops why can’t be have one for us smaller girls?
i think it was the fact that they used to market as one size fits all when it was actually size xs/s.
@@peneloperoy oh yes i totally agree. i know they changed it year ago for fits size xs/s
plus-sized stores sell multiple sizes because plus-size isn’t ‘one size’. skinny also isn’t ‘one size’. this is just laziness, and the fact that they use younger models for their demographic (there have been accounts of a majority of models used being 13-15, predominantly 14) + market towards those with the highest demographic of developing EDs + the elitist attitude that comes with shopping there + the unethical production/low quality of a lot of their products... bro, at least plus-sized stores advocate for confidence with your body and don’t try to market towards fucking teenagers/glorify a body type that is likely unattainable for most of the market.
I literally could not love Carrie more, she is such a KWEEN and I love that you guys are doing videos together! 🙌🏼🙌🏼😻😻
Sierra...... gym routine. Hit a like if you want her to do her gym routine.
lvoyant wow rude much? Get a life.
lvoyantThat was mean joke or not
@@lvoyant people can be fit and strong at ANY SIZE without being stick thin like an instagram model. please think about how rude that was of you to say.
OMG UR SO CLOSE TO 1 mil. Also, friendly reminder: your content is high quality and you are very loved and appreciated
i love how confident you are 🥺❤️ i wish and watching you makes me more confident to try brandy at least once
I dont fit in their clothing but i dont think there is anything wrong catering to one size . Just like there are shops that have only Plus size ... Each company chooses their own demographic which is why sizes are diff. From store to store
I love this duo!! Y’all are great!
Thank you!! I always buy clothes from brandy because I fit into there clothes. If you don’t fit their targeted demographic then don’t shop there.
girl what
honestly they are so picky!! “it fits, but not they way i want it too.” like cmon 🤦🏽♀️ brandy melville isn’t meant for plus size adults, it’s meant for petite teenagers 🤦🏽♀️
M. Owens i 100% agree
Lol but that's kind of the point they're trying to prove
I’m a normal 10/12 but get a lot of my tops from brandy and they fit really nice and still are that oversized fit. It’s interesting to see how fit and size never seem to mean the same thing. Love the video concept.
People need to stop shaming Brandy for being a one size small brand, its a brand for smaller girls. There are plenty stores that are structured more towards bigger girls, and both are fine.
I think the turtle neck was soooo cute on Sierra, and the jacket looked so great on Carrie
Omg!!! Sierra you look so so cute in that turtle neck!! It might not be your style, but you should try it! Omg but I am happy you didnt spend any money there. I wouldnt either, but I deffinantly think you should look for a turtle neck like that one in a different store;)
These videos are so helpful because I was worried about my size 4 and I was worried about not fitting in their clothes but you guys encouraged me
I love hearing your take on brand sizing!!
I love that you talk about stuff like this!!! It’s so important, and just real. Love your content 💕
@@jasminestarr1506 Trueeee
Brandy is not branded for petite people. Brandy is one size fits all. The message they’re sending is if you aren’t this “one size,” then you don’t fit in at this store. There is no shame in being super petite, super skinny, plus sized, mid sized, whatever. It’s just the “one size” label that shows closed-mindedness
@@kamaca1219 They never said it's one size fits all.. They just said one size.. but otherwise I totally agree with you :) and you're really pretty btw lol
hi so earlly! ive been loving your videos recently!! you deserve all the new members to this beautiful family!!
When you guys wore the teddy jacket and the graphic tee, you kinda looked like Emma Chamberlain
Sitting in the hospital, I’m glad to have your videos to keep me entertained 💓
I love watching both you and Carrie , coming from being in an awful place with my body for most of my life you guys have finally made me open my eyes to body positivity and how to truly love myself ! And you guys are so much fun !!! My 2 favourite channels ❤️💋
I love seeing how different the clothes fit you both. It is so cool seeing how people can be the same size but still have a unique body of their own. I would love if you guys could do these videos more at other stores because this and the first video are awesome 😍
people demonize brandy and people who shop there and they say “even though it fits you, you shouldn’t shop there because it isn’t size inclusive” but if you go by that logic, plus size people shouldn’t shop at torrid because they don’t have clothes that fit smaller people
Did you not listen to the last 2 minutes of the video, they literally explain why it isn't good
Um.... smaller people could theoretically fit into plus sizes clothing. Tops, jackets.. at least at plus size stores it isn’t one size fits all.
at least plus-sized stores don’t have an active ED community starving themselves to fit into their clothes/market towards teenagers instead of the intended demographic of petite or thin people/use shady business tactics/promote ‘one true size’/promote unhealthy body standards/culture a very toxic community/have been known to mainly hire white individuals/have lazy sizing so that a majority of their targeted demographic can’t even fit into their clothing regardless of how thin they are.
In the last video when they said that they were going to do a vid on a store that had a small size range I immediately thought "Brandy"😂
Thank you Sierra ❤
thank you for this series and spreading the importance of body positivity 💛
Hoping you guys do some more vids together! Watched both loved both, yall are amazing and love your message that you are sending.
I love your investigating videos lol. ❤️
The first outfit on Sierra was AMAZING. Leave the jacket open it was so cuuutteee
You upload such quality content and it’s always consistent. Like I don’t deserve this lol
I’m so grateful for you and the content you create it honestly does so much for girls like me and you don’t even know the extent of it
I love you so much Sierra!! You are so confident and beautiful and aspire to be as confident as you. You are literally my idol and Ilysm ❤️❤️❤️
I was actually surprised. Most of the clothes looked really good!! My favorite was the tight fitting turtleneck
Who else gets so genuinely happy when Sierra uploads? I hope to meet you one day, you are such an inspiration to me 😄
Sierra, I'm so happy you make videos like this.
their posing in unison killed me haha 🤪 and the peace signs lol
Love seeing the two of you collab! Thanks for putting out content and representing people who look like me!! 💜
These collabs with you two are the best things to ever happen to UA-cam 😍
My problem with Brandy Melville isn’t that it caters to small, that’s totally fine. It’s that it’s a one size store. If a plus size store just carried 2x and nothing else people would be angry and it wouldn’t be inclusive. If they carried an xxxs to a small I wouldn’t have a problem with that
I absolutely love your videos❤️ Love how body positive you are and how kind you are🌸
Love the black sweater and hat so so cute! You guys are the best!
you’re literally my new favorite youtuber! i discovered your channel a month ago and i’m obsessed. i’m not necessarily skinny or anything so whenever i see all these really thin girls doing videos like these it makes me feel a little insecure but you make me feel SECURED!!!
Yes yes! I love your videos and this collab!!!!
I’m going to miss your videos together😭
All I have to say is great work you two!
I would love to see more vlog footage from inside the store in these kinds of videos! It would be fun and interesting to see you guys walking around and picking the items
Love love love this video series! Well done ladies.
