Really glad these videos have become more regular!
With a $200 pedal...and about eight grand of additional gear.
Yeh seems pointless to me with all that other gear.
I don't agree (without to be a troll) with you, you can easily achieve this tone with a mid price guitar (maybe with good pickups) and a practice amp with 20watts of power BUT with a descent speaker, with at least 10" speaker...! I'm thinking at the Boss Katana 50, with an amp loaded with a 12" speaker like this you have no problem to achieve a sound like this for less than 200$...
Had no money left for string cutters...
MeTuLHeD didn’t even see your comment till I basically said the same thing hook the fkn thing straight up fk
@@dimebagtribute boss katana is hot garbage for modern tones
Holy shit you’re from Monuments! I was like woah damn this guy can play and his sound and playing is clinical af... then I read the description! How can I not have come across your channel before?!
You can get a great heavy sound with an aggressive right hand techniques what I heard.
Justus Gash that‘s what she said…
Most people are not going through all that gear. I want to see guitar to pedal to clean setting on a portable amp. Anything can sound good with all that gear to help this pedal out and with fresh strings that were put on before this was recorded.
the bluguitar
overkill!!!
I agree. I recently bought a Ibanez OD850 and plugged it before my cheap Joyo Meteor with a Bantcab. Using the clean channel, I was surprised about the quality of the sound.
These sort of review should be done with widely sold amps, based on valve, transistor and also some modelling stuff (like Katana or Roland Cube).
This review is really bad, because you can't actually here anything about how the OD 200 is shaping the sound and if there are more subtle possibilities than just maxing the distortation out. I also strongly believe, that a player testing gear, should be capable of more playing style, this is really a waste of time.
I agree straight in a amp like Fender Deluxe Reverb
@@moronsmorons8913 You're being unfair. He's going to play in the style that he intends to use it (assuming he owns it) in. You can't expect him to demo a BB King-ish tone on the blues driver setting if he isn't a blues player to begin with. This is something I think is worth having in mind when checking out review videos. If you want to hear other uses for this pedal, check out Rabea Massad's channel for example.
Sounds awesome man! Love the look of the pedal as well as the sound!
You can hear Mudvaynes live show before playing 'Dig'. Chad Gray going "Can you dig it" and then John exfoliates the guitar through a full volume amp protein diet. That meat of a tone is grassfed beef. Lean, marbled, juicy and barbecued over those tubes saturating with flavour. Love your chops man!!
Your playing skills are top notch
The pedal is just complimenting it
I have the od-20 for years and like it a lot very nice twin pedal to have fun
This thing sounds great. A solid gate, maybe an MXR eq, some solid IR's and a person would be good to go fersure. Man i hope to one day own one of your Duvells. Going thru a rough patch atm, but when i do claw my way out, im gonna acquire the tools necessary to start recording, and though i do love my Ibanez RG3EX, i hope to have one of your Duvells man. I gotta get my music and ideas out there
Fuck 18:15- 20:00, immaculate technique/melody esp those dead note articulations towards the end. It's amazing how inspiring / seemingly unattainable your style is. Thanks for the XL vibes Browne
I'm extremely intrigued... but I must know before I start actively planning to buy this, does it doom???
Idk wtf it is man, whether it’s the pickups or that guitar, but whatever you demo, characteristically is different but there’s that sparkly grimy sound to it. I like to have influence from players but once you go after their sound, then you’re trying to hard I feel. I hate that your gear sounds so good 😂😂 awesome vid man!
John Browne also plays in DADGAD a lot.
Now that's a signal chain lol! Sounds good!
After i listened to this od sound..which ever metal which sleepin within me raising again....heavy....\M/
My lack of audio recording was contagious hahaha
What is that one chord you kept hitting? The one when you went from clean to the distortion for the first time and keep using throughout the video? That's such a delicious sound
This pedal + hx stomp or iridium/acs1/simplifier/torpedo cab m with a delay & reverb would be great grab and go board.
The ds1 setting sounded wicked! but i feel like the rest sounded tinny or thin! but overall definitely a great pedal for the money!
Agreed. I could eat a food poisoned burrito, shart thru a microphone and it would sound heavy and throaty like this. This guitar, this pedal, marshall, vox, or fender deluxe. You know... amps most gigging musicians would have.
You sound like you need help with basic tasks
I’m kind of a gear idiot, but does this go into the fx loop of the amps or can it be used right in the clean channel of an amp
Either
That fuzz sounded sick. But it’s hard to tell if it’s the pedal that sounds good or you just being awesome. Lol. I’m kind of more excited about the eq version of that. I’ve been waiting for something like that for forever.
This sounds soooooo good!
great video. great gear. good riffing
Not a bad sounding pedal!! I like it!!
What genre are you playing?
When i´ve seen it for the first time i was a bit sceptical. But in your hands it sounds great.
Wow, that pedal sounds awesome!
I see you have a H&K TriAmp Mklll behind you. Why would you ever need an inferior Boss distortion in front of an already perfect drive tone that the H&K provides? I like the Boss, it actually sounds really good but the Tri Amp utterly CRUSHES it! Nice riffing, BTW!
Glad I’m not the only one that’s made a bad habit of playing those sus chords with the pinky. It actually looks cool here....
Reason behind not cutting the strings?
I'm sorry man, but for these pedal demo videos to have a semblance of validity you need to simplify your signal chain.
Anybody making a purchase decision based on a video like this is in for a surprise when they go home and try the pedal in a non science fiction setup.
NSP it’s pedal into the amp. The 88s is so that I don’t have to keep unplugging and plugging in amps and cabs all day.
The rest of the chain is the recording. And the recording will not sound good if the source doesn’t sound good.
17:24
what IS that riff actually???
That riff that came down from the gods....they chose John to be the vessel
João Medeiros it’s suicidal tendencies - if I don’t wake up.
Haha I didn't even hear it before I commented on this
What's the release date for this pedal?
slick design
Damn bro you play so good, i like your videos by the way that sounds like a engl savage 2 18:00
Sound great !
what is that strange squeak noise when you mute the strings to stop?
skyflyer it’s feedback. He turns up the sensitivity of the noise gate just after and it closes up just enough to cut off the feedback
can you get HM-2 buzzsaw sounds out of it?
Also what’s the boost DB range??
gazzaboy probably the most important question about this pedal that no one has covered yet.
jameswilkins4motion that’s what I thought 💭
Sounds great but Dude! Trim those strings.. was driving me nuts the whole video...lol
I know right it's driving me crazy to! People that don't cut there strings say it ads sustain and makes the guitar sound better........bullshit!! 🤣😂
I need this in mylife
Using such complicated gear for review is maybe nice to show off but brings question what sound is real to expect with casual amp and cabinet, this is actually problem of all professional reviews, they use super expensive gear and editing so you believe that it is what you will have, when you buy you are disappointed it sounds a way worse, but great riffs!
Jarda Danicek his recording setup is studio-grade and aims to capture the sound source as cleanly as possible. The only way his recording equipment will make a difference will be if he’s done post-processing.
The sound source itself is guitar-pedal-amp-attenuator-cab. All things you can find in mid-range equipment - a lot of amplifiers now have power soaks built in for bedroom volumes. You could literally emulate the sound source’s signal path with a guitar that has decent humbuckers, this pedal and a Boss Katana. The only difference would be that he is using pushed cleans from a boutique tube amp into an attenuator rather than solid state from a katana.
@@NOKnovawhen mentioned cubase with such setup you can expect also heavy postprocessing which is fine for the recording job itself but not for the purpose. When you add expensive guitar at the top you will get sound which most others will never have and that is why this is a little deceiving. Goal for review is not to deliver heavily pre/post processed studio recording which can modify original sound beyond recognition but authentic live performance of a piece of gear, of course it should be well-enough recorded but that can be done with minimal setup as well, that is what i meant and i believe that is what everybody including me is curious about.
Jarda Danicek the only post processing done for these demos is filtering the top and bottom end. A guitar speaker generally starts to trail off around 6k all the way to 15-17khz where as a mic will pickup 20hz-19-20khz. The filtering puts the signal captured by the microphone back to guitar territory.
Then I get the volume to the desired level using a limiter that doesn’t touch the audio signal.
You have assumed I have done lots of post processing because I have the option to but for a single guitar source this isn’t necessary.
I also have the option to not disclose my recording chain (like a lot of other channels) but I do because it’s the right thing to do.
High end recording gear captures the source sound way better than something cheaper so if anything it’s actually more akin to what’s going on in the room with the source sound.
Regardless of how good the recording equipment is, you literally cannot polish shit.
Does it fit to non - metal players? your video is almost about brutal tones with a drop - X too dark!! I would have loved to hear the pedal in overall conditions.
1: my guitar is in DADGAD, it’s not in drop X, don’t assume.
2: I am a touring metal guitar player, that is my forte, playing anything under stun isn’t really my thing.
3: it’s a very versatile pedal and would work for anything that requires slightly pushed to full out of control meedly meedly!
No matter what he did with the dials and switches on the pedal, I just kept hearing the same sound.
It's like the different woods guitars are made from.
I don't hear much difference in tone whether the guitar I'm playing on has a maple, alder, snakewood or any other wood body.
Garry Myagui i noticed that too! His guitar is being setup loose. The amp and the guitar complimenting one another giving the sustain. Btw he has that tone in his fingers. No matter what setting he dials, the same tone remains.
Honestly the Gibson stuff has pretty good tone but they are pretty anal about their wood. Man that sounds bad I should think of a better way to word that.
That's one filthy yellow box
Dude please make a part of a song out of the 19.50 riff
you can get great heavy sounds with a 30 Euros Joyo pedal as well.
you can?
@@n1w4 yes
@@jumpingman8160 You can get great sounds out of nearly anything if you can play!
For £200 I should fucking hope so
Its 315$ now
boss pedal $249 Usa guitar + amp =$5000 Usa so yeah its sound great!!!
The guitar is made in Poland and the amp was made in Germany.
Can you play some chords!
....and some melodic old school blues. Jazz fusion style not just power chords?
😎🎸
$260.00 here in the states
I would love to see this pedal demoed through a guitar say a Les Paul or Strat and a nice tube amp, that's it. Then I could probably tell more in a realistic setting for me and for most people of how this pedal is really going to sound.
Ron Carter that’s all it’s going into, minus the ampete 88s (which is an Amp and can switcher, and a boss Waza tune expander, which means I can turn the volume up loud without killing my ears). The rest of the chain is how it’s miced. Read the description.
Check out Rabea Massad's demo of the same pedal. He uses a strat & a tele I think.
@@Nghilifa he’d probably still bitch and whine that Rabea runs it into a 3 grand x8p as it’s not a ‘realistic setting’ as he puts it. Posters like the above are just constantly moaning about anything and everything. If you can’t get a good idea of the pedals capabilities from this video then maybe expanding your rig beyond a guitar and an amp is not for you.
for 200 bucks it better be good!
Chomp, chomp, chomped.
every setting sounds the same probably my shitty speakers

The audio is clipping a ton in this video
No more BS about the "Klon Centaur"
You clean sound sucks...its overdrived and lack transparency...useless for some people like me, but I still like that you take the time and demo the pedal....🍻
It sounds great and promising.
Jone Browne. Dude I love you, your amazing. Your one of my favorite players. But dude please CLIP YOUR STRINGS your freaking me out.
You want great tone???
Well take out a fxckin loan!
😂😂😂😂
shut up and take my money
Do you know any music?
so it's a metal pedal? lol
all the tones sound the same. the fuzz doesn't sound like a fuzz. it sounds good for metal and whatever he is playing, but for alternative, indie, dream pop, shoe gaze, and everything NON METAL, this doesn't sound right
skyflyer the video is aimed at heavy sounds, read the title.
Daft title 🤔
"here is the Klon setting" LMAO it sounds like all the other settings. total bs. Od1x blows this away
No, it didn’t. Unnecessary bitter comment.
28:41 nice
折角抜けは良いのにミュートをしっかりやらないので取っ散らかって聞き苦しい、なので参考にならない。
ずっと歪ませすぎてて良さがわからない、
Pointless demo
It would've been awesome if you knew how to play.
Jonathan Delarosa I’m guessing your one subscriber thinks a lot of you eh!
@Jonathan Delarosa Was that what you said to yourself when you took that bathroom selfie?
Imagine telling John Browne he doesn't know how to play lmao
🤘🏼🤘🏼
Don't want to be an asshole but a wound guitar string is a little plain string with an other one wound around it, and the problem is when you strech the string the plain little string inside the wound one is moving and make it out of tune after seconds of playing. To prevent that the most efficient way is to clip the end of your strings when you change it, like that you create a mechanical clamp that stop the sliding of the inside string...
Maybe you know it but I think several of us are not aware of that!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎩👍👍👍
