listening to that stereo tremolo with headphones on made me think i was having a stroke
I'm pretty sure Pete could plug his guitar into a jar of mayonnaise and he could make it sound amazing.
Matthew Em maj9 +1 to get this video made
I can see Thorpy seeing this comment and going "MMMMM?". Then a month later the ThorpyFX Pete's Mayonaisse Modulation Pedal!
"Got a bit of reverb"- ten second trail...
he has been hanging out with lee. They love their reverb!
Yeah that’s every single UA-cam reviewer. “Here’s my clean sound” *extreme spring reverb with multi delay*
Boss completely knocked it out of the park with the MD-200 and DD-200. Love the new pedal format, and they sound so, SO good.
Impeccable timing Sir! Just thinking about buying this pedal.
Thanks you Pete! Very good pedal i want one!
Quite the guitar face at 5:45 ! Great demo Pete
holy moly stereo pete gives a new level to tone tasting ;0
Knobs! Yay! Seriously--I would consider this over something with menus/scrolling/and a largish digital display. Not for everyone, of course, but good for us Luddites. Sounds good, too--esp. in stereo setup. Thanks for going to the trouble to do that, Pete!
Nice Demo Pete. I'd have to chuck half my pedals away though if I got one! The new Dimension C has been a revelation to me, and I use a Stereo Electric Mistress, and a Script Phase 90. If I didn't have these I would consider an MD 200. Boss are the industry standard for good reason!🌴
Don’t be shy to play the purple stuff bro. Prince had a very distinctive sound, it’s good to hear young players replicate it.
yes, you will need an EQ if you have multiple individual pedals because some fuzz/distortions will cut out the mids (similar to you will need a buffer if you have too much cable between guitar and amp and the signal degrades)
Pete's playing sounds amazing with modulation
Peter always does a pro demo w/o the hype.
Dude, I hear you sneak in a few Princely tones every once in a while. I want to hear you replicate some times from Prince in the 90s and forward :-)
Btw: loving the new Boss pedals
This sounds so amazing
That clean tone

@ Pete: *LIKE A BOSS*
That stereo pan tremolo is freaky.
Some people practice guitar, others like me just listen to Pete instead.
Makes more sense to pay a little more for the MD-500 to get the full features...especially the slicer...
Very Nice playing as usual. I have both md200 and ehx mod 11. IMO ehx is much better on rotary tremolo auto wah and vibe. But it is far below in terms of ergonomy
Peter the Great
Gonna be interesting how the MD-200, the EHX Mod11 & Wampler Terraform hold up against each other. I've got the EHX and it's really good.
No presets from Mod 11
pete , like to see ya play that purple tele with a new bass amp , like a fender rumble 200
Definitely Has Many Options Could Make Some Tunes With That One 👍👍🎶🎶🎸

one modulation to rule them all....
It would be awesome to be able to combine the overtone and rotary effects, with an expression pedal to control the speed of the rotary. Then you could swell the rotary like they do on organ solos.
It has a ramp function to toggle between a fast and slow setting just like a rotary speaker.
You can set how long it takes to accelerate and de-accelerate (ramp) between the two speeds. So you don't need an expression pedal.
Need this pedal.
Would this be good for home office use or better for enterprises?
Great demo and playing Pete! Couple questions - does AutoWah sounds good with Expression pedal connected (similar to common Wah pedals)? And Rotary emulation - how do you find it compared to Strymon Lex for example & does it sounds good in mono?
Love the look of that Tele. There are never enough purple guitars. Great pedal. Does a lot for the price. Typical of Boss.
We've always had amazing pedals, since the very beginning. But even 15 years ago, there were many limitations and many of them didn't sound great. It's pretty crazy that with the plethora of pedals we have now, there pretty much isn't a bad pedal. In fact, there pretty much isn't a pedal that doesn't sound amazing. You give me a board with all Boss pedals now, I could more or less have as good of tone as John Mayer or Keith Urban, men who have spent decades perfecting their sond.
Hi Great Video John From Florida. So how you set up like the IR 200 SY 200 and the DD 200 in Stereo Please let me know Thank you
You can’t go wrong with type of pedals. At least 2 or 3 effects are usable.
2:04 NICE
Can you do a video stacking this MD200 with an analog drive pedals?
Sounds very cold..
Nice antidote to the Strymon Mobius.
Bryan Clarke not quite in the same ballpark. I find the mobius a lot more high endish, although could do with a new gen display, it’s showing it’s age.
Only four presets kind of kills the 200-series for me. Here is a mod pedal with hundreds of possibilities...but even with midi you get only four memory locations. Because it is 1983 and ram is super expensive.
I'd like to know how does it A/B with the 2 switches?
Hi Pete. This one or the UA Astra, which would you choose?
Does anyone know how to change which setting is effected by the expression pedal?
So should you go for an MD-500 instead? Well, if this is enough options for you, you can save a little less than € 100 by buying a MD-200. But the ability to edit into detail on the MD-500 is very nice. And lastly, essentially the MD-500 is two MD-200's. If you use more than one modulation effect, the 500 might therefore be the better option.
So you can only use one effect with the MD-200? Ruins the best thing of a Multi-Effect.
I swear that when the Mighty Boosh were looking for The Funk they meant Danish Pete
Cuz hes just a big ol ball of tits
Pete - you haaaaaaaaaaave to make a vid on BOTH intro and outro "jedi level loop video" loops :p my god they were nice. please please please....
Ok. Will do🤘🏻
@@danishpeteThanks Peter - I cant contain my excitement *blows up*
Doesn't it all sound rather synthetic?
Thanks for the demo, Pete :-)
Is that a Dumble in the background ?
Good demo! If I put my fuzz face before the md 200? It's dangerous or not?
Careful, thats how Richard Pryor blew his face off
Can you use 2 modulation at once?
We're you jammin some Brad Paisley there bro? Last time for everything??
i want to get the univibe tone from Breathe (DSOTM) but by buying a multi mod pedal as opposed to a dedicated vibe clone. Anyone know which would be best for that?
Fulltone Deja Vibe's are great, so are the Sir Henry's!!
Can you get the touch sensitive/John Mayer style auto wah from this???
Mxr Envelope Filtwr is 1/4 price used and is exactly that sound. Jerry Garcia used one a lot with Grateful Dead
But this thing would probably do it as well, plus tons of other cool stuff.
Do these modulations sound better than the ones in the boss me-80?
Anyone know how you can patch your gain pedals pre and post the effects? How does that work? Brett Kingman mentions it in his Demo that you can do this.
don't know you'd want to put gain thru post fx? Put all your drive through the amp input and your modulation, delay and reverb through the send/return on your amp.
@Al Lee Thanks!
It is a pedal board friendly design, but does it take 9V DC from Voodoo Lab?
cyphertek 220ml so it works
im reminded of the radish wars of 1748. there was a lot of animosity towards the kings of the cucumbers v the queen of the mushrooms. suffice it to say the gong people respond by draining the silver river and building a 900 foot spike out of runner beans to stave off the lemon witches.
Pete! I wonder why they didn't do am RV200? Im kind of irritated about it....
Darrell Roberts Same here, have been waiting for it.
Bought the rv-500, I feel it should have been priced around the same as the 200 series since it's not as versatile in tones as the other pedals in the 200 series
Hi Pete, what would you think: Would you use the pedal in front of the amp or in the FX-loop?
You can do both thanks to the pre/post feature
How many presets we can save in this unit...??
Maybe for a travel pedal or someone looking to find what modulation types they enjoy and mastering it? I find myself not using compound pedals. I would try it out find that all of the sounds are OK, but already have something that does it better and easier. More is often less, basically.
I can't seem to get into Boss. I had a DS-1 a couple of decades ago but threw it in a dumpster when i moved. I had cut the spring in half to lessen the immense pressure it took to activate the pedal, and just didn't get any excitement from it, and did not need any more buffers in my chain. I likely will never purchase a piece of Boss gear. Even in 84' I was buying DOD, Arion, and Digetech over the boss.
This looks great. Can anyone tell me if the effects are digitally created or simple analog components? I bought the Strymon Mobius and was very dissappointed in how thin most of the effects sounded. I'm hoping this unit does a servicable chorus, rotary and phaser and will save me having to buy the 3 effects as separate pedals and a bigger board to put them on
Digital
Sounds so frikkin' nice, but not sure if it's because of the pedal, or because of Pete. Would this be good for a first pedal?
Flanger and phaser sound great with drive. Is this in front of the amp or in an effects loop?
In the front.
This or the plethora x3?
3:46 😂👍
No MIX - BLEND except for Chorus in MD-200 ..... great error BOSS !
Love Danish Pete’s playing, but I hate Boss mod effects; they make me seasick... so I can’t get past half way in the video...
Guess I’ll go watch the DD20 demo a few more times 🤠
"Boss" mod affects aren't causing you to get seasick. The way Pete is moving the affects parameters around in combination with the video approach is. I love Pete, but he didn't do any homework. Watch a Mike Herman's video showcasing a product. He does his homework, plays well thought-out snippets appropriate to what a particular affect does. Pete's cool, but this was a slammed out, flying by the seat of his pants, mess of a demo.
Can you combine the effects and play more than one at a time?
This is my question too.
@@JasonByers77 no. Only a single effect at a time.
I really want one of these for fuzz :(
Charles Carr jhs muffuletta has a bunch of big muffs in one pedal, not exactly this but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@chrisegg7936 I know, but I never liked Muffs.
Why does nobody use a Les Paul when do a MD-200 review?
I THINK THE SAME BRO!! HAHAHA
Md200, 500 or wampler terraform?
Trying to decide between this and the Wampler.
sales like mayonnaise
Sounds like a descent pedal.
Ergonomically this seems not a very practical pedal for a pedalboard to me. How does one switch, say, from chorus to auto-wah? Or is that the 'program' switch?
MIDI :)
You can use the tap-tempo button to scroll through presets, so no need to kneel down and press buttons. And of course, you can also do it with midi, since the MD 200 has 128 preset slots available. (When you update the firmware)
the two amps are out of phase in this video. its obvious when he plays the clean tone
To such an extent that I was waiting for the chorus to put it back in phase and all the bass to reappear…
Not that I have anything against drinking, but…were you drinking before this vid??? LOL
Can you run two effects at the same time?
No. Buy md-500 if that is very important for you.
Apart from the smaller size and less presets, what's the difference between this one and the Boss MD-500?
The 500 let's you run 2 of the mod engines at the same time. There's also an alternate setting where if you sacrifice the tap tempo button you can have a 3rd effect on the bank. Whether that's something you'll use I don't know. I have the MD500 and the DD500 and tbh I'd probably be more than happy with the 200 of each for what I use.
Probably an immensely stupid question, but can multiple effects be active at once, chained into each other? Also, if so, would the order be static or configurable? (I'm assuming the overarching answer is no, based on how it was demonstrated, but I figure I might as well play the idiot and explicitly ask.)
Not at all stupid. The answer is no, you need the md-500 to run two effects simultaneously.
Am I able to use every effect of the MD-200 all at once?
Boss digital modulation somehow sound computer-ish. I wonder how EHX’s multi-modulation pedal sounds.
The same, probably noisier too
Can you use two effects at the same time?
Stjepan Bilic parking.
Are you talking about two presets? If so, I’m pretty sure you would need the MD-500 to do that
@@chrisn3586 I mean like using tremolo and chorus at the same time.
I guess no..this is a "strymon mobius"thing.
u can do it with boss footswitch i think..
Derek Trucks doesn’t use this pedal
Vee bra tow
Flain-ger
Hmmm! Bummer! Whenever someone demos a modulation pedal I get disappointed? I want always want to here if the flanger can mimic an electric misstress!
I can't be the only one who loves Andy Summers & The Police???
I could (if i tried haaaaard enough) maybe understand having 4 presets on the delay, or the Overdrive...
But how can you have 4 presets in a 12 mod engine pedal, each modulation is different.
Its like saying "Hey, here are 12 effects, but you can only choose 4 of them" ...
Makes absolutely NO sense at all.Its digital, storing more presets means only more memory, which is abundant in our age . ( i understand that more presets need more banks, buttons to switch etc, but at least it could have midi programmable presets).
Its the only thing keeping me from getting the DD200
So save up for the 500 series and you can have 100 presets? And if you're anything like me you'll only use 4 of them...
It might just be form factor: with 99 (or whatever) you'd need three buttons on it, which would be a bit of a squeeze. Realistically though, are you gonna need more than 4 modulation settings at any one time?
I have set it up for 12 presets, you can edit how much presets you want before cycling back to Manual. The LED's only turn on for the first 4, depends on how much you want to tap the prset button. Can go to 99 i believe.
With midi you can have.. I think 128 presets (after installing the firmware update), so no problem there.
Works also without midi, see my previous comment.
really like Pete could watch him being brilliant all day....but that just sounds like another pedal for bedroom guitarists...
i like this dude doing videos on his own.. sticks to business. with that other 'captain' guy it just becomes a duo of babbling nonsense and too much goofing/joking around.. would have dragged this video out to 40 minutes of blundering around.
Restate much
So to some it up, a delay pedal…
Is it just me or are you picking up a Scottish accent?
Man pete can play. However that pedal doesn't sound great
You got a whole lot of nothing there Pete ! Sorry .
First.
First to give you a thumbs down
@@dumbstupid5065 Really taking personally the fact you were not first
@@TheMadLicksBand Really defending 2001 hard.
The sounds seem to have no character. Just sterile effects. The unit also looks so uninspiring, just like it sounds.
After 10 seconds watching this I came to the same conclusion. You can use the more uncommon fx once in a while, but for chorus, the CE-20 does it better, when comparing digital units. This one is too harsh and "digital".
Thats what I heard. Never understand why folks try to kiss ass so much on some of these demo vids.
Seems trollish. Judging any pedal based on a UA-cam Video is foolish. The key is to buy from a retailer with a return policy that allows for no questions asked returns. I buy almost exclusively from Sweetwater. If I buy a pedal, don’t like it.....I send it back. I’m not giving thumbs up or down on this pedal. I have mine paid for and am just awaiting for Boss to ship to Sweetwater . I’ll put it on my board and put it through the paces and it will either stay on my board or go back. I have my EQ 200 and simply put, it’s the best EQ Pedal I’ve ever owned. I have it pre & post (affects loop) - channel A channel B respectively. I find it unlikely that the MD 200 is going to be a turd. Mine will arrive with with an FS 7, so from jump street I’ll be deep diving. It’s possible it will be a dog. I doubt it. I know one thing for sure, I won’t pass judgement based this poorly presented, half baked, rushed & poorly prepared for review on UA-cam.
I see very little use for this pedal other than wasting time tinkering with the knobs in absence of a sensible user manual.
Of the last 16 videos only 1 is not a pedal review. Great for your bank balance but not for your credibility. Andertons channel is understandably commercial but your own should be a bit more varied.
If I could only clone myself. One for Andertons, one for my channel and pedals videos, one for my kids and one for my wife and one to work a high paying banking job in London, then I would love too make more free tuition. One day it will all be possible haha :-)..
@@danishpete If you want a clone then it could be called "That Pete Pedal Show". 15 out of 16 videos about pedals is overkill for those of us who enjoy your content but are not interested/obsessed with every new pedal on the market. Variety is the key (both major and minor!)
I’m fine with that. I like gear demos.
@@danishpete You could clone Postman Pat. "Pedal Pete and his black and white Strat"
You can’t go wrong with type of pedals. At least 2 or 3 effects are usable.
