I once read that Hugh Laurie ad-libbed a lot of his nonverbal actions… like cane twirling, juggling, etc. Add in his excellent acting and musical abilities and he’s a highly talented individual.
Sorry, "AKTSCHUALLY" mode engaged. Back scabbards were highly impractical in the medieval age and were pretty much never used. Even Hugh Laurie being able to fit his cane into the back of his shirt was probably movie magic. It's very difficult to fit a sword of any decent length down your back, side scabbards are much much easier and much much faster.

I love the character of Gregory House because his selfish and cruel nature is skillfully curbed so that the kind of people we consider vulnerable are the exact people he is usually tender and patient with even in his own twisted way. Realistically genuine jerks don't discriminate as much as House does. He's a lovable "bad guy"

I think thats a misread. He just isnt cruel for no reason. If the hunger she was creating was focused around a medical mystery then he wouldve jumped in, no cares. Her offer was lust and House slackens his lust regularly with prostitutes. He can maintain his humanity easily when offered other peoples' temptations.
Except in real life, this type of people take advantage of weakness. It’s exactly what they look for. These type of people don’t exist. It’s the twisting the Hollywood normally loves doing.

It would have been great if Ali was House's lightbulb moment in this episode. When she said, "it's just a line, an arbitrary line drawn..." that could have been the clue for the worms in the sand; especially since the boy was drawing lines. It was fairly early on in the episode, sure, but it would have tied the stories together nicely.

I've started watching House a few weeks ago and I'm now on season 5 (I had 2 weeks off). I'm loving every minute of it, but I'm kind of reluctant to keep watching, since the show has already ended. If I watch more slowly it will be alive in my mind for longer and I won't have seen all there is to see. If I watch everything, it'll be like saying goodbye.

I think we all know that the title of this should be "YOU CAN'T STOP OUR LOVE!!".
This show gets more mileage out of the "Advance the plot by having one doctor barge into another room while another doctor is in with a patient" thing. This does NOT actually happen in any medical setting. Even if I am in the room alone, every doctor, nurse practitioner, or staffer knocks before they enter and waits for my response to come in. But it is hilarious! lol

Good for your patients. I've had other doctors entering the room during my appointments ... Thankfully not at gynecologist's, but I've heard a story or two.

Good episode with some pretty deep themes about our need to matter, to have who we are and what we do endure beyond us, and also hauntingly about essence of human connection.
