It actually goes back further then the 1989 album. There is alot of evidence she was dating her backup singer Liz during fearless and speak now tours, and then there was a woman Diana Aggron that was seeing too
I remember somebody saying "Nobody's more boy-crazy than a lesbian in denial" or something like that. It might have been on the Chosen Family Podcast, but I'm not sure. Either way, it felt relevant to mention.
So it’s ok to spread some misinformation because you have a hunch? You forget that she’s human too. And any human doesn’t want some bullshit claim saying they are something, even though they’re not. You are all imbeciles.
I've never actually been a fan of Taylor Swift. Her music just isn't really my vibe. But obscure queer history and culture is totally my vibe, and holy shit, this video is so interesting.
Question…? Is the queer song not lavender haze. My interpretation of Taylor’s music is that it’s purposely androgynous not to queer bait or confuse her sexuality but so that anyone can listen or sing the song and relate. It’s intimate for all the hopeless romantics.
The Algorithm brought me to this, and I just have to commend you. This is thoughtful and insightful and mature and I think it’s so important that you talked about the homophobia towards Gaylors. I honestly thought all the Gaylor stuff was insane until I heard “Question”, and I fell down a rabbit hole and now I just think there are just as many Easter eggs pointing to Karlie as there are to practically all her male exes combined. Why is it okay to speculate about the possible male subjects of her songs but not the female ones? PS I am queer and absolutely said my own version of “advocating for a commuting I’m not a part of” before I came out! 🤷🏻♀️
I think Taylor became a victim of her own branding to an extent. She’s been so open about the fact that she leaves Easter eggs everywhere, about everything from the secret messages in her lyrics in her first several albums to all the hints in various music videos and even interviews. It’s become *expected* that everything is a message, and she must be super smart and calculated about everything (as she portrays on “Mastermind” somewhat), when she is human and not all-knowing. I personally found myself a bit perplexed by Gaylors, which prompted me to watch your video when it got recommended to me, and while I take exception to those who dismiss Joe as a beard and/or are otherwise disrespectful to him, it’s nice to get another side to things. And while I didn’t know all of that about the Hetlor side of things, I have become a bit weirded out by the extremes some fans have taken their crusade against some of her exes. Some of the lighthearted jokes are one thing, but death threats? And even the scarf thing went a little too far…I think Maggie Gyllenhaal even got dragged in and she seemed to not have any idea what they were talking about.
Now that we’ve heard the album and the ‘rumours’ referenced in Lavender Haze are 100% marriage and that ‘1950s shit’ they expect from her…. It would be nice to think there might be apologies. But I doubt it.
@mycurrantjournal the Hetlors who took the “weird rumors” comment to be about gaylors and bullied them for it, when it was really about them and their rumors that she was secretly married
Well this was refreshing!! I had made some sapphic connections on my own with her music, and when I came across the ‘Gaylor’ theories I was immediately put off because they felt very invasive. (Worth noting that I also find the theories on which-song is about which-man invasive and annoying) I’ve been wanting someone to go through this in a more balanced way - this was great.
She said rights are being stripped from everyone who isn’t a straight white cis male. So maybe when she said I didn’t realize I couldn’t advocate for a community I am not a part of she was talking about the black community ? Or any other community that is having their rights stripped, it’s not only the gays that don’t have rights lol, and she wants to advocate for all of them not just the gay community if that makes sense, at least that’s how I understood it
I think my BIGGEST probelm with the ambiguity that it gets left up to is the amount of times I've seen it go down where gaylors and hetlors will be fighting because they think she's either 100% into men or 100% into women. There's so much biphobia that gets very directly tied into some of the arguments that go down about it when at the end of the day, Taylor Swift is a brand. We will only ever know the brand that she puts out to the world, we will never know who the real her is 100%. We can know bits and pieces but we'll never know and what it boils down to is you can speculate and you can believe one or the other, but we'll never know for sure unless she wants us to know.
@@sophiachristodoulou8678 not what I said. A lot of people assume she’s either 100% into men or 100% into women and that there’s no in between. That’s not what’s biphobic, some of the conversations/arguments I’ve seen go down are. They’ll argue she’s one or the other and you bring up well maybe she’s bi, and they act like that’s impossible or an atrocity. It’s people bringing their biphobia into the conversation of Taylor’s sexuality when really there’s no use arguing or debating.
@@peachypizzacc the latest poll in gaylor community shows 3/4 of gaylors believe taylor is bi. me, myself also think taylor is bi but she is not joe. Joe is her berad bc certain proofs and their timeline and chemistry and of course, taylor's songs.
@@ivanishbotswhocommentingal901 And remember how there were pictures of joes friends kissing him on the cheek that were guys. I’m not saying he’s gay but maybe his management wanted him to not seem that way so in a way they were bearding for each other
I've almost gave up in terms of gaylor theory since Midnights was released but this video is so well-made and makes the topics I already know about seem all the more interesting and like they're being explained to me for the first time. You're also very well spoken and I appreciate you outright calling out some swifties for their homophobia. I feel a little less "delusional" after watching this. Major respect!!!!!!
i think swifties will see what they want to see, whether theyre straight or gay. one logical fallacy gaylors have is that taylor is aware of very single piece of gay history when not even gay people do. hetlors will analyse her music with every inch of its life but ignore anything that doesn't fit their hetero view of taylor. i think its weird to speculate on real peoples sexuality from hetlors and gaylors alike. gaylors dig into a (supposed)part of taylor's life that she is not open about. hetlors have this stepford fantasy of taylor in this traditional marriage role, which is very childish as if to prove that she really is straight. the problem is that swifties put so much of their personality in taylor that she has to fit who they are, which is impossible
I love how striaghlors say "don't ship taylor with her best friends, thats weird and gross" yet it is ok for them to ship her with men, even tho she has said she hates being shipped with anyone of ANY GENDER. straighlors what is the difference, is it cuz they are woman and u are homophobic?
yeah they say gaylors are creepy and weird 😭😭 like most just want to see themselves in their fav artist and it isn’t morally wrong to do a little bit of speculation about it, it’s way more innocent than the other internet speculation about her. not a gaylor, just a swiftie, but i wouldn’t be surprised if she was gay…
I'm a lesbian who is not the biggest Taylor fan but she did catch my attention after "kissgate" 😮 I was like....ok this shit is real. And now I understand she's a way deeper artist than what I thought. I also feel sorry for her because I know what it's like being in the closet for so long being born in 93. The world was a more close minded place back then. Maybe that's why some people don't like her..because she is holding her true self back. 🤔 And as a lesbian songwriter I know for a fact that you don't try to please the peanut gallery with lyrics. It's a very personal/psychological process. She writes about her emotions and then others can relate if they want. Great video. 👍 let's hope she finds her happiness in love. ....I need a sugar mama 😂
Very thankful to UA-cam for recommending this as I was shocked by your sub count. This was fantastic, thoughtful, and incredibly entertaining- keep it up!!
Yes Hetlors always bring up that quote, 'advocate for a community that I'm NOT a part of'. I like your point, that you can be queer, and not be a part of the community. Also, what she wrote after, is so dramatic, about being fearful. If you are just straight and helping out the gay community, you would not be so "fearful", and be more casual about it.
Yes, what str8 ppl cant understand is that no one impose/forces sexuality more than they do. And since Taylor only speaks abt things that affect her why would she be this passionate abt lgbt ppl? I get if she wants to help her friends, but she has never done this for the black community, she has never got so personal abt it, but when its abt feminism and queerness she does get super sentimental, she even leaves gay easter eggs in many things
what i mean Is that she nods to the community in VERY QUIET ways, which means she doesnt do it to profit from It, she does It in a very personal and private way, thats what convinced me that she’s actually bi/gay, bc when she leaves those kind of easter eggs u can see its not accidental, and u can see its not just her supporting gays, its more like her making us see that shes been inside of our skin (of queer ppl skin, that she has felt what we’ve felt)
Like that quote could literally so easily and how I took it means ‘I realized I can support this thing without having to out myself, or be apart of it.’ Like that is NOT her saying she is straight whatsoever. And if she is straight, I don’t think the gay community would be too fond of her talking about gay pride is one of the things that makes her, her. Especially knowing the only real thing she did for it was gain capital 😭 I’d definitely rather her BE gay than riding the wave for relevance. Like her using all these unground terms would be full on queerbaiting if she isn’t gay. I’d simply rather think better of her
If she's not out she's not part of the community. So that statement say nothing to me. And that's fine she's a businesswoman and she knows homophobia is still very much alive. She'd lose a lot of her underage audience, not because the kids would care but their parents would. Taylor is nothing if not subtle ( and smart)
Another reason she may not come out is that same sex interactions are flat out illegal in some of the countries she plays in. Africa, areas of the Middle East and Korea. This would make it very complicated regarding her performances.
I have found on Miss Americana that taylor goes to a camp with someone (supposedly Joe) but is the same place of the infamous photo of Karlie holding Taylor by the back and her being blushed with a surprised face
I’m only 23 minutes into the video, and even though I’ve been a gaylor for only a couple of months (thanks to a particular podcast lol), you got everything correct, which is a bit of a surprise since I assumed that all gaylors would be queer women like myself, so this is a very “how do YOU (a boy) know!” moment. Honestly, I immediately subscribed!
I am a 65 year old queer woman and only really started paying attention to Taylor after Folklore and Evermore. I’ve since gone back to Speak Now and devoured everything from there on (the Debut album I’m less familiar with) - all to say, I certainly wasn’t thinking Gaylor or straight as I fell in love with this amazing storyteller. Recently my niece has been on a campaign to bring me up to speed on the Gaylor aspect of her lyrics (not to mention her life.) I get it. If I had to state my opinion I’d probably lean towards she’s bisexual but I think you’re a little disingenuous to infer that folks who assume she’s straight are somehow homophobic. Taylor was in a public relationship for six years with a man and she’s a strong, confident woman. Why wouldn’t I take it at face value? In hindsight I can think of a billion reasons why she’d be pressured to be discreet but I don’t think it’s homophobia to dismiss the theory that she’s gay. I think it’s unconscious loyalty to Taylor. If she says she’s straight (thru her action of being in a relationship) she’s straight. How often do we think about how difficult it must be at times to be her? I think of that song Peace all the time and am sad for her. Regardless of her sexuality she’s our own little Truman Show (only she’s producing and directing the show.) ❤
For me one of the most compelling young gaylor indications was her goodbye video for Emily Poe posted on her MySpace. Stolen by dashboard confessionals repeats “you have stolen my heart”
Oh man, as someone who used Myspace music tracks to send subtle (or not-so-subtle) messages to people, I totally get this. Her posting that song is a mark in the "Taymily" column from my point of view!
@@elizabeth9674 It's the "couple's name" that fans have given Taylor and Emily Poe, just like Kaylor is for Taylor and Karlie Kloss. Another common one is Swiftgron for Taylor and Dianna Agron. It took me a little while to learn all the Gaylor lingo!
I just also want to say, that Taylor is not always totally truthful to us, in explaining the meanings of her songs. For example, she had an early song, "You Should Have Said No", and there are clips of her talking about that song, and that it is about some guy, in highschool that cheated on her, and she said his name. I think it was like Jake or something. And he is a real guy from her highschool, people dug up pictures of them together. BUT... in other interviews, after that, she said she only dated ONE guy in highschool, ( the one she wrote Tim Magraw about), and has been single ever since. His name is Drew (but not the same Drew people think it is.) So the two facts don't go together. She only dated one guy named Drew. But then some other guy Jake, cheated on her in highschool and broke her heart? It doesn't match. So she was not being truthful. So we know from that, Taylor is not always being honest with us about her song meanings.
@Bella Nah, I think "Should have Said No" is about the tv show Friends, when Ross and Rachel broke up. Because she said she took it direct from her diary. But we knew she had been single. So it was probably her feeling after she saw that episode. I think a lot of her early songs were about TV and movies, but she didn't want to admit it. I mean come on, she was 18 and under. How many serious relationships could she have by then? I read some posts that in the past she had her friend Abbie speak to a couple guys in highschool and have them sign a contract that THEY were the ones Taylor wrote some songs about. Like this guy Drew, who is NOT the real Drew she dated.
@Bella BTW, years ago, I was able to do some sleuthing. I found the real Drew online, thanks to some posts I saw. I found his facebook page. Which was private. But through that, I was able to find his girlfriends page. Which was just semi-private. And saw a lot of pics of the gf and Drew. They were engaged. And I was looking thru some profile pics, and the gf wrote, "Thanks! You are pretty too Taylor!" And I am pretty sure that was Taylor Swift. Since then, her page had become totally private. But yeah, that guy is the one Taylor wrote a lot of songs about. He is still with the girl he left Taylor for. She is pretty and blonde and very sorority/traditional looking. (that is the "pageant queen" Taylor keeps referring to.) And they are married and have children now. And I think she wrote Speak Now for him, before their wedding. Also the recent song Midnight Rain.
The idea of Taylor coming out on the 50th anniversary of Stonewall riots is hilarious. Like she would’ve been torn to shreds trying to make that day about her. I hope that is not true.
I mean it’s far more likely even that Swift and team realized she shouldn’t center herself there considering a lot of people thought YNCD was pandering and stereotyping gay people.
The ONLY evidence is a man who’s not in Taylor’s inner circle and would not have been privy to that information (Taylor/her team are not going to give information like that to a rando who could use it against her). Like trusting him over Taylor/her team is insanely naive.
Betty will always have sapphic undertones to me even if that wasnt the intention. I just connected with it so deeply when I was struggling with my sexuality
It definitely was the intention. Taylor herself is named after James Taylor and Blake and Ryan has a daughter named James (which is relevant because Taylor used their other childrens' names in the song).

Patiently awaiting part 2. This is the first UA-cam breakdown I’ve seen that actually curated some of the more blatant queer references and situations that made me first start to see her work through a queer lens. So many people pick the craziest theories and loosest evidence and then shit on the whole discourse. Idc if she is queer or not but the sheer number of “coincidences” are worth exploring.
Omg bless the algorithm. I'm not a super duper swiftie but I am very interested in gaylor theories from a casual consumption standpoint. I NEVER knew about the dress and all of that. You did a fantastic job! I'd love to have you on my channel sometime to talk about this. 💞
@@jacksonwagon I'm going live in 30 minutes and I'm absolutely watching this video instead of prepping lol. Let's talk via email or instagram (links in my PF) and make a plan, you did a fantastic job and I've been meaning to talk about this for awhile!
kind of off topic but just got to 33:29 and my theory is that most of the songs on midnights were supposed to be on Karma because sonically, lyrically and melodically they're reminiscent of her music from the 1989-Reputation eras and her life during that time. There was even a music critic who commented on this and blamed Jack Antonoff for making it sound regressive but he was also a producer on Folklore and Evermore and has produced for Lana del Rey and Lorde and is plenty capable of making a wide variety of musical styles that don't sound like they're stuck in 2016.
I'm only 3 minutes in but it so nice to find another swiftie who became a swiftie in 2017 with the release of Look What You Made Me Do. I was a "hater" (in the sense that I was too "not like other girls" to like her, but was never openly hateful to her online or anything), but then that MV came out and I was like "wait...Taylor Swift?" and now by 2023, I'm fully obsessed and love her.
1:14 subscribed - hetlor vs gaylor is something that tears apart the fandom and friendships - I don't wanna hear a homophobe *or* a "Taylor's dated 5 women and kaylor is real and everyone's a beard" Gaylor. Unfortunately, these two ridiculous takes keep coming up on my twitter, and I'm glad to hear something more objective
I understand the argument other swifties make: "Aren't you outing her? What if she's not ready to come out yet?" and my response is that a lot of the information upon which this theory rests is public and Taylor herself had a choice in it, she could have deleted the part of the documentary where she says "Gay pride (...) makes me me", she could have tweeted she was against Queer readings of her work (even Rolling Stone noticed her songs were a little gay) like she did with countless other people that were spreading false information about her, but she didn't. To me, it seems like she had every intention of coming out and was slowly letting her fans know so as to create more support for her and maybe allow her to write more explicitly homoerotic songs. Anyways, the point is that we are not making conclusions on half-second videos (though some are making such conclusions) or leaked information, Taylor willingly posted these things and symbols, which leds me to believe she might be testing the waters with the lyrics and the easter eggs, and the gay and bi symbolism and letting the public know that "Gay Pride" is a part of her identity. So, no, we're not outing her, we're supporting her in case she is brave enough to "confess her truth".
i agree with all of your points! especially when you talked about the discomfort with some gaylors' phrasing about how the hetlors haven't figured it out yet and they have some secret knowledge. and the way some gaylors talk about joe makes me feel weird too, and is often biphobic. I'm a bi swiftie myself, and I think it's probable that taylor is queer, but i think gaylors have no right to act like they're better than straight swifties or that they have more of an insight into her personal life than other people. but i also agree that the way some swifties completely disregard any possible queer interpretations of her songs is borderline homophobic- as if they don't speculate that every single line is related to some male ex.
I just can't fucking wait for all the Genius pages to finally include any queer interpretations because to ignore it will just out them as homophobes. They even managed to never mention any obvious potential reference to a Jewish wedding in the Right Where You Left Me line: _"Glass shattered on the white cloth"_
21:55 “that theory is a little weird,” you gotta read “The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo,” lol… there is a similar plot point. I think that would be weird for normal people but people who have publicist and studios controlling their every moves, it’s not by far the weirdest thing lol
what lives rent-free in my head is the question what would’ve happened if Karly never betrayed her? Would they still be as close as they were as public as they were? Would she still be with Joe? Would Karly have still met somebody else? The what ifs live in my head.
I would've loved if you went deeper than kaylor theories.... there's hints going back all the way to Speak Now era with Liz Huett and the song Ours that literally says "Seems like there's always someone who disapproves (....), the jury is out, but my choice is you"
45:49 I would like to add that cultural appreciation can be a very beautiful thing. This is especially true when someone shares their culture with others and encourages them to enjoy it too. For example, when someone shows others how to do their hair in a way that is traditional to their culture, or dresses their friends up in traditional clothing to celebrate a festival together.
I came to your video from tiktok because I came across so many homophobic hetlors in a comment section where the original video had nothing to do with sexuality and it really bummed me out. Like if you wanna think Taylor's straight that's fine but you don't have to be homophobic! Thanks for cheering me up :)
listen i know this wasn't the point of the video but the humorous timing and facial expression you gave the camera when your greenscreen fell was the cherry on top. i think i'm in the same boat as you? i believe in the gaylor stuff but i'm not crazy about it and won't be surprised if she winds up to be not queer at all. funnily enough, i'm not even a taylor fan (except folklore and evermore). i'm only here because of a friend. but this was so well put together, you convinced me. a good day to you.
I've watched this before but came back to it to refresh my memory and I must say, you laid everything out so well. You'd make a great teacher. 😄 Thank you for going into such detail of all the evidence of gaylor theory, this is one of the main vids gaylors point to when a new gaylor asks for a brief history lesson on the main gaylor talking points and you covered everything.
38:49 I think “weird” is sometimes used sort of specifically against gay people. Like being gay is “weird” and being normal is “normal.” And to many homophobia’s “gay is weird” and “weird is gay.”
amazing!! i've been in/out of the kaylor stuff through the years, but just recently have been in contact with the amount of hate comments from hetlors. so disrespectful and very mean. i like that you also mentioned the problem in the gaylor part of it. it is not nice how some treat Joe - which is also a problem overall as swifities in general treat her exes poorly too. i have the feeling most of the hate comes from homophobia and very childish/stubborn people that cannot handle not being right or others having different views
10:24 I doubt it was anything like wanting to avoid fans listening to old music. I don't understand how anyone could possibly do something _anything like_ as vulnerable and emotional as coming out when they'd just received news that "worse than their worst nightmares had come true". Like, you must have to be dead inside or something to be able to go through with it after that. Learning that it was meant to be the same day as she ended up getting that news, _no wonder_ she cancelled it! Huh, if only the news could have come out a day later haha! But seriously, I undoubtably would have cancelled too. Dang.
Really well-thought and interesting video! Thank you! I've been following queer theories about Taylor since reputation came out but your video gave me more food for thought. Hope to see another dive into gaylor universe.
The lavendergate video was now deleted from her instagram, perfect time to come back to your videos😂 Honestly though, your videos about gaylor theories are great and calm me down for some reason :))
I’m so glad they’re calming!! And yeah, my fave tweet after the lavendergate post was removed was just a pic of the Trisha Peytas tweet that says: “I’M FREEEEEEEEE!!!! WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY FUCKING LIFE”
Apart from the quoted statement at 16:13 ( "i could advocate for a community i'm not a part of"), in which she insinuates she's straight but doesn't out-right say it, she's often said she's straight. I don't know why people say she never said it, she has. Multiple times.
Idk the prologue was never her saying she doesnt date women- it was her saying she hates how everyone immediately questions if her relationships are platonic or romantic. She literally says that happened with men and she hoped it wouldn’t happen with women too. A lot of Swifties who use the prologue to argue against gaylors ignore that it wasn’t about her sexuality it was about people questioning what her relationships are- which most Swifties still do with men- i.e. discussing if she’ll Marry Travis!!!
A person might accidentally 'scream' it out once, even twice, in naivete. Not like they need to find their way out of a maze. But plausible deniability, if you want to believe otherwise.
Funny how the "weird rumours" in Lavender Haze turned out to be the marriage and pregnancy rumours lol. Hetlors look so stupid now and have shut up since. Yet no apology for the Gaylors of course.
When I want to skate around or not directly state my (latent?) bisexuality, I say “I don’t identify as LGBT.” Note the word “identify”… like I’ve been in LGBT spaces where i feel like… I don’t want to presume to speak for the LGBT, but also saying “as a straight woman,” feels dishonest so the best I can come up with is, “I don’t identify as LGBT, however I support gay rights,” or whatever the rest of the sentence is. (Or when, people are qualifying with their sexuality and I don’t feel prepared to say “I’m straight” OR “I’m not straight,” I say “I don’t identify,” as I am not “OUT” so I literally don’t identify myself that way… doesn’t mean I’m not.
28:38 Huh. That's got to be some kind of record, haha! That is such a long time to wait for their second album to drop, puts things into perspective haha!
She’s Bi leaning more towards women. She can’t come out until she re records the original albums. Lots of people are bi or gay and have never been part of the LGBTQ community. Excellent channel 💖
New Taylor swift fan here and got really intrigued by this theory so I’ve been binge watching vids on this topic and going back to listen to her songs to make that connection. I guess I would be considered a hetlor as I assume she’s straight simply bc all of her public relationships have been with men nothing deep, not disregarding the possibilities of her being queer. And I have to say after the vids I watched on this, especially the points u made in this video breaking everything thing down not gon lie u guys got a point on some things. Even I’m sitting here reflecting on how whether or not some of these are just coincidence or subtle hints🧐😂
26:09 Oh for goodness' sake, those Americans! They were so irrationally scared of "reds under the bed", and seem terrified of us to this day. As a British Socialist, I laugh at them! I mean, would it really be so terrible, if everyone had everything they need, without having to worry about how they're going to feed their children, if they can afford to be ill, or where they're going to sleep that night?
Nobody should be forced to consider an abortion because they can't afford a child. Everyone at the moment wants to talk about whether abortions should be legal, but in reality the problem runs so, so much deeper. There is no reason, in a first world country, for money to be part of that question. Sorry haha, it can be hard not to get into this stuff! I moved this to a reply, because... well it's important, but it got a little off-topic. So I'm going to leave it here instead.
One more comment I never knew anything about the Christian rainbow dress and how she was supposed to wear it, but then canceled and then he posted a video sipping tea in front of the dress that was next to me. Very interesting stuff.
36:19 “being in love” I mean, it’s not that it’s a lie it’s just an impartial truth. It IS about love… but a specific type of love (sapphic) Gay love IS love… but people take “it means being in love” to mean “being in heterosexual love” because of heteronormativity. The assumption is that if you don’t say “its about gay love” then it must be heterosexual, or must refer to ALL love.
yooo, I'm just going down the gaylor rabbit hole! I have been a Swiftie since I Heart?, lol. I am also not straight, but I never before considered her to be queer. I think that is because of the image she has built up for herself and because she never had any public girlfriends.

@@jacksonwagon and pregnant lmfao
Well this was refreshing!!
I had made some sapphic connections on my own with her music, and when I came across the ‘Gaylor’ theories I was immediately put off because they felt very invasive. (Worth noting that I also find the theories on which-song is about which-man invasive and annoying)
I’ve been wanting someone to go through this in a more balanced way - this was great.

She said rights are being stripped from everyone who isn’t a straight white cis male. So maybe when she said I didn’t realize I couldn’t advocate for a community I am not a part of she was talking about the black community ? Or any other community that is having their rights stripped, it’s not only the gays that don’t have rights lol, and she wants to advocate for all of them not just the gay community if that makes sense, at least that’s how I understood it
yah we women are sure losing ours
Thinking she's a lesbian is not biphobic

And remember how there were pictures of joes friends kissing him on the cheek that were guys.
I love how striaghlors say "don't ship taylor with her best friends, thats weird and gross" yet it is ok for them to ship her with men, even tho she has said she hates being shipped with anyone of ANY GENDER. straighlors what is the difference, is it cuz they are woman and u are homophobic?
hetlors
yeah they say gaylors are creepy and weird 😭😭 like most just want to see themselves in their fav artist and it isn’t morally wrong to do a little bit of speculation about it, it’s way more innocent than the other internet speculation about her. not a gaylor, just a swiftie, but i wouldn’t be surprised if she was gay…
I don’t ship Taylor Swift with anyone, except who she’s currently dating. Both are gross
i would indeed be interested in a video about queer readings of her songs
I'm a lesbian who is not the biggest Taylor fan but she did catch my attention after "kissgate" 😮 I was like....ok this shit is real. And now I understand she's a way deeper artist than what I thought.
I also feel sorry for her because I know what it's like being in the closet for so long being born in 93. The world was a more close minded place back then.
Maybe that's why some people don't like her..because she is holding her true self back. 🤔
And as a lesbian songwriter I know for a fact that you don't try to please the peanut gallery with lyrics. It's a very personal/psychological process. She writes about her emotions and then others can relate if they want.
Great video. 👍 let's hope she finds her happiness in love.

I thought La Fou being gay was so obvious but my neighbor was like, “he’s not gay.” I was like… huh??
@@kfox24 Taymily? (I’m in the shallow end of the pool but I’m working on it.)
@@kfox24 thank you!
17:20 LOL BABE…this was maga level connecting the dots. And we know because homegirl said she wasn’t.
The ONLY evidence is a man who’s not in Taylor’s inner circle and would not have been privy to that information (Taylor/her team are not going to give information like that to a rando who could use it against her). Like trusting him over Taylor/her team is insanely naive.
Should note the scene from madmen she's referencing is a bearded relationship lol. It's the lesbian congratulating her husband on falling in love
really??? what no way
It’s not that she lied… it’s that she told half the truth. Yeah it’s a phrase about being in love… gay love 😂😂😂
Betty will always have sapphic undertones to me even if that wasnt the intention. I just connected with it so deeply when I was struggling with my sexuality
It definitely was the intention. Taylor herself is named after James Taylor and Blake and Ryan has a daughter named James (which is relevant because Taylor used their other childrens' names in the song).
yeah It's still gay even if it's from a "male perspective"

Patiently awaiting part 2. This is the first UA-cam breakdown I’ve seen that actually curated some of the more blatant queer references and situations that made me first start to see her work through a queer lens. So many people pick the craziest theories and loosest evidence and then shit on the whole discourse. Idc if she is queer or not but the sheer number of “coincidences” are worth exploring.
Filmed it yesterday!! Should be edited and uploaded within the next few days if all goes according to plan
She's some kind of gay for sure
Omg bless the algorithm. I'm not a super duper swiftie but I am very interested in gaylor theories from a casual consumption standpoint. I NEVER knew about the dress and all of that. You did a fantastic job! I'd love to have you on my channel sometime to talk about this. 💞

Omg you should follow this up after the album release. I love the way you approach this so it’s not as intrusive as- well I think you know what I mean
kind of off topic but just got to 33:29 and my theory is that most of the songs on midnights were supposed to be on Karma because sonically, lyrically and melodically they're reminiscent of her music from the 1989-Reputation eras and her life during that time.
Ooo, that could actually make a lot of sense! Thank you for sharing!
this has now become my current emotional support long video. great work i love this!!!!!
I'm only 3 minutes in but it so nice to find another swiftie who became a swiftie in 2017 with the release of Look What You Made Me Do. I was a "hater" (in the sense that I was too "not like other girls" to like her, but was never openly hateful to her online or anything), but then that MV came out and I was like "wait...Taylor Swift?" and now by 2023, I'm fully obsessed and love her.
as a gaylor, this right here is what we call a true idgaflor, i appreciate you for this. i will be showing this to all my friends
Maybe we need a bilor category to keep the peace ✌🏼
I'm a bi swiftie myself, and I think it's probable that taylor is queer, but i think gaylors have no right to act like they're better than straight swifties or that they have more of an insight into her personal life than other people. but i also agree that the way some swifties completely disregard any possible queer interpretations of her songs is borderline homophobic- as if they don't speculate that every single line is related to some male ex.
you're so attractive i can't focus 😭😭😭💀💀
This is so well put together, congrats on a great video!👏
I just can't fucking wait for all the Genius pages to finally include any queer interpretations because to ignore it will just out them as homophobes.
They even managed to never mention any obvious potential reference to a Jewish wedding in the Right Where You Left Me line: _"Glass shattered on the white cloth"_
Oh I’ve tried to annotate the hairpin lyrics to that song and it’s been rejected every time
this was a great video! excited to see part two now that midnights is out~!
I really enjoyed the way you presented this! I’ve seen so many and yours was probably the best ❤
I would've loved if you went deeper than kaylor theories.... there's hints going back all the way to Speak Now era with Liz Huett and the song Ours that literally says "Seems like there's always someone who disapproves (....), the jury is out, but my choice is you"
Your video is so wonderful and concise. Thank you for putting this out!:)
You said Hetlor three time before I realized it was "Heterosexual + Taylor Swift" and not you saying Hitler
I came to your video from tiktok because I came across so many homophobic hetlors in a comment section where the original video had nothing to do with sexuality and it really bummed me out. Like if you wanna think Taylor's straight that's fine but you don't have to be homophobic! Thanks for cheering me up :)

Like being gay is “weird” and being normal is “normal.”
And to many homophobia’s “gay is weird” and “weird is gay.”
amazing!! i've been in/out of the kaylor stuff through the years, but just recently have been in contact with the amount of hate comments from hetlors. so disrespectful and very mean. i like that you also mentioned the problem in the gaylor part of it. it is not nice how some treat Joe - which is also a problem overall as swifities in general treat her exes poorly too. i have the feeling most of the hate comes from homophobia and very childish/stubborn people that cannot handle not being right or others having different views
Wowww, I adore you so much for this! Your video has opened my eyes in more ways than I can count, thank you!!! Amazing job! 💕👏
10:24 I doubt it was anything like wanting to avoid fans listening to old music. I don't understand how anyone could possibly do something _anything like_ as vulnerable and emotional as coming out when they'd just received news that "worse than their worst nightmares had come true". Learning that it was meant to be the same day as she ended up getting that news, _no wonder_ she cancelled it! Huh, if only the news could have come out a day later haha! But seriously, I undoubtably would have cancelled too. Dang.

So I'm going to leave it here instead.
i don’t know why but i thought you were gonna be british when i clicked on the video

It IS about love… but a specific type of love (sapphic)
Gay love IS love… but people take “it means being in love” to mean “being in heterosexual love” because of heteronormativity. The assumption is that if you don’t say “its about gay love” then it must be heterosexual, or must refer to ALL love.
Thank you for the dinner mother
YOU MY MAN, I LOVE YOU
This is such a thorough video I love this
yooo, I'm just going down the gaylor rabbit hole! I have been a Swiftie since I Heart?, lol. I am also not straight, but I never before considered her to be queer. I think that is because of the image she has built up for herself and because she never had any public girlfriends.
This was fantastic
