Bounces around way too much. I watched it yesterday. I can agree with your criticism. This is a shell of Dances with Wolves. If you haven’t watched that, do your self a favor and watch it. Masterpiece. I rate Dances with Wolves a 10/10 and rated Horizon a 5/10 and that was being kind. I respect the hell out your review here! No politics, the movie was just not put together well at all.

Love the mustache. Keep it forever.
Judging by your video set, you were never going to love or even like this movie. It’s not star wars or avengers. Perhaps consider if mental maturity, mood, preconception, or state of mind, has an impact on the level of enjoyment one can have with certain topics. You did see an alien movie the same day. Before or after? Regardless, I don’t think Neil deGrasse Tyson is going to like Horizon or antman Quantimania. It’s not a knock, it’s a reality. And another aspect is as you get older your tastes change. Things you find stimulating or invigorating now will change. The kinds of foods you like will change. The kinds of movies you like will change. You may hate Horizon now but love it in 20 years.
Being a reviewer sucks because you’re almost always at odd with the audience. You may hate a movie people love. Almost every movie on Rotten tomatoes has critic reviews vs actual audience viewers scores and they are often polar opposite. Critics give this movie a 44, higher than expected. Actually people give it a 77.

      thanks!!
i saw a quiet place about an hour after horizon. i agree with you that age, maturity, and experience all add up to how you like a movie. i totally understand and recognize that i am in the minority when it comes to this movie. i'm really glad people like it - people need to support and enjoy more than IPs and blockbusters.
speaking of, i understand what you were saying about me and my movie taste going into the film, but i respectfully disagree. although i do love superhero and action films, i have a more broad taste of films. my favorites of this year are Hit Man, Late Night with the Devil, and Challengers. i do really like Westerns and I want to see more of them, i love the ones like Shane, 3:10 To Yuma, Magnificent Seven, and True Grit. I do need to branch out, so if you have any recommendations, i would love them!
and yes, being a reviewer usually means you can't please everybody. my take on horizon might be the one that has gotten me the most heat. i appreciate your respectfully disagreeing with me - it's a breath of very fresh air from the usual comments i receive.

@@carterwalker there are tons of good westerns not mentioned yet. Tombstone, Unforgiven, the Good the Bad and the Ugly, the outlaw Jose Wales, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Silverado, Young Guns. Even comedy, like the three amigos, Maverick, Blazing Saddles, Back to the future part 3.
Unforgiven is probably the absolute best complete western movie ever. If you haven’t see it, you’ll know why Clint Eastwood is the best Hollywood cowboy.
      Unforgiven and Tombstone. Start there.

Horizon An American Saga Chapter 1 was amazing. Hey not every movie needs to have action scenes n stupid jokes every ten seconds for it to be a good film ukno. Before Marvel films existed most films took their time it's actually sad that people don't have long attention spans anymore.

Of course there is a whole generation who have never even seen a western. Makes it hard to be a critic.
