Mr Costner needs to cut you two a large check - cause you SOLD this movie . I wasn’t planning to see this because of all the bad reviews and bad press. But now I’m looking forward to seeing it. Thanks guys 🙏
The critics also liked The Acolyte....which is trash - 13% positive reviews from fans. Horizon was well worth the money! If you are on the fence, come down and see the movie!
"Do they have hair dye in the wild, wild west?" 😂 I had no interest in watching this but your great review sold me on it. Thank you Joseph and Nick. Love your channel!
I like watching you guys because I feel like you're a little harder on movies than most channels, and so your reviews come across as more honest. So I'm excited again to see Horizon after hearing some of the negative reviews coming after Cannes. Thanks, gentlemen!
Love that screenshot for this review! I wanted to say how much I love you page and recently started listening to you podcasts from the beginning too, wishing you both many more years of content here and there!
I remember watching Dances with Wolves with my dad when I was younger. Unfortunately he has passed away but I know he would have loved this movie as well. Open Range was another one of his favorites. Thank you both for an awesome review, can’t wait to see it for myself.
Personally, I loved this movie and I'm all in for the next one. I thought it was a quick three hours, it kept me engaged and it was worth seeing on the big screen. Some people have complained that it was confusing with all the separate stories, I did not find this to be so. I thought each of the stories was engaging and unique and was happy to visit each story.
Hi Joseph & Nick!🐎Nick like your shirt.🤠I have a vintage 1960s western shirt just like yours. Thanks for the heads up and review, planning on seeing the movie this week.🤠
Thank you for a great review guys, you are the best. Horizon opens here in Spain next Friday, June 28th and I am definitely going to my local theater to watch this movie. Thank you again !
I was interested because I grew up on horror and westerns. I love the idea of some mystical reluctant (anyone) rolling into town for better or for worse. Glad you both had a good time. I'll be checking this out first Tuesday in July.
I paused the show (watching the 2nd time I’m Netflix) to watch your complete review before continuing to watch the movie for the 2nd time (to help me fill in things I was confused on or missed). Thank you so much!
This is one that I've actually been looking forward to. I like Westerns, I like the ambitiousness of it. I thought about waiting until both parts were out but your review gives me more encouragement to see it in theaters.
Great review. I just finished watching the movie and I really enjoyed. Correct me if I’m wrong but from my understanding the settlement in the very beginning where we meet Sienna Miller and her family, that is the “Horizon” location where Luke Wilson and his group is headed to? It would make sense since will Patton seems to be related to her.
I am stoked to see this because of your discussion and enthusiasm for this kind of vast storytelling. I had to turn this off half way as not to ruin the movie for me. great job guys.
I gotta wait to watch this one in total. Nick is one of the best movie youtubers out there. Just can't get enough of his critiques. Joseph is unbelievably talented with his comedy. Incredible team we have here. Thank you.
Hi Gentlemen!! Thanks so much for this review... I have been considering going to see this film. It sounds like a really interesting and action-packed western, with a lil' soap opera flair! Sounds seedy, campy and right up my alley!! 🤠🎉
My 2 friends and i left this movie thinking it was good but we were so confused. Also I personally felt nothing happened. Will I watch part 2? Absolutely. We 3 agreed upon that, but man was I confused.
Sounds like a very gripping story set in how the west was won type vein. Joseph also has no issues with the cast - like every one fits their dialogue in character! Long, but something interesting happening constantly is a good thing!
When i first heard about this project i was in because these days these types of projets would go to TV. Theres something about seeing an epic likes this on the theatre screen. Im there for Part 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Look at yalll!!! All thirsty for the next part❤❤❤I have got to see this. Now. Now. Now.😂😂😂 I am so sorry u guys, i just came from the ER...(dramatic pause) COMPLETELY OK, Because damn. What are in these prescriptions?!?!!!😜😜😜❤❤❤
I just got out from it. My only problem with it is that many of the questions it made me ask were left unanswered, like they didnt need to tie up anything, just answer in a way that makes me want to know more. That being said i am going to part 2 when it releases
I thought it was awesome, personally. There are a lot of strands, but as a writer myself, I think they did a good job of setting the whole saga up. It is not easy to both handle the set up, establish all these characters and situations, while maintaining good pacing as well as character development that will emotionally hook you. I am watching it again now, because i will agree, there is a lot to take in in the first viewing. Nice review gentleman. Thank you ; )
Correction, just fyi that the Sykes brothers are the sons of the man who got shot initially. It’s stated in the dialogue later. The woman hints at her shady past so that implies that she was probably the mistress of their father and the baby is an illegitimate child. Very good review and insight as always 😊
Never heard of it. But I'm now interested because if you two like it-esp Joseph- then I def want to seek it out. However I have the question of are there any black people in this saga?
the opening of the Wild Bunch is a small group of children excitedly prompting fire ants and scorpions battle to the death.....probably thick with metaphor. I read it as a mirror of our strange desire to see similar blood feuds on screen. I found a couple other slips in this video review....though i really like what these guys do and how they do it. -the man killed in the beginning by the Gena Malone character is the dad of the Sykes brothers. That's what i got from it. Perhaps he assaulted her and that boy she takes is from this episode. Whatever the case the boy is seen at film's end being left with a family of Chinese migrants---which holds some promise for interesting story lines. -the village attacked in the beginning of the film is Horizon. This review shoulda noted that because it seems to be the film....and the series main point. Horizon built on bloodshed. Some say why it is built how it is built is wrong. Its built anyways. Though we are in an age where media is more responsive to not short-rift oppressed people.....the massacre of the native village at Horizon's end does not get the same treatment that the film's opening gives to the doomed settlers. I know the film is already overlong. Perhaps future installments will relax and open up time and space into showing the Apache's daily life. Their civilization. I thought the film was fine i suppose. I wandered in to watch A Quiet Place Day 1 as a palate cleaner after. My reflection of the night --Horizon is the slow motion examination of the building of America..."western civilization" and A Quiet Place examines the breakdown of this civilization. I view both to be disaster films
Nice review. There's one scene I didn't understand that I'm wondering if someone can explain. In the Indian village, one of the scalp hunters on horse back shoots the Mexican scalp hunter (I think in the back). I must have missed what their beef was and was wondering why he shot him. Also, the chubby Indian kid in the hills that spoke English to the chief--wasn't sure what the point of that scene was.
Haven’t seen the movie but in the infamous book my Cormac McCarthy, Blood Meridian, which tackles very similar themes and story, the scalpers would kill Mexicans and scalp them because the government wouldn’t tell the difference between a Native and Mexican scalp. Just my two cents
Okay just watched it and I think the main reason he shot him was because he didn’t tie his horse well enough and it walked away almost exposing the scalpers attack on the village.
I usually wait till I see the movie before I see your review…this time I was at the half way mark and tuned in….and for me there were no spoilers. Well as soon as I saw Ms Miller and Mr Worthington, I knew it would be a romance. Rule in most movies, the good looking people will be knocking boots. Yup the women and men up front got to look pretty. They look too attractive for as rough as it must have been. So far I’m with you 3+ stars, it’s keeping my attention.
Pleasantly surprised. Really enjoyed this film. It did not feel like 3 hours and even though it’s categorized as a slow burn by many there’s a lot happening in almost every scene. I agree with you guys that the only negative is the average cinematography. I’m looking forward to the next part. I hope they touch on the Native Americans viewpoints more.
Just watched it on Max and it was well worth watching. The long and a bit complex story about many people is suitable for streaming. It was completly ok. Took its time to show that there is not a black and white story to our history. Good on Coster to not do a PC product.
I think, if you guys leaned into your voices a little bit, added on some camp elements to your banter, You would have a funny movie review show with an attitude and personality thats universally charismatic

Small.minds just cant keep.up with the plots! Lol my son and i really enjoyed it. Hes 53 abd im.78! We are western films afficionados! This one has great potential for great sequels!
I was confused by much of the plot lines cuz it was all over the place. Hard to know each character plus the sound was so low that I couldn't hear much of the dialogue. The acting was amazing. Yes, the women were made to look pretty. Seems unrealistic to the time period. That's men who produce and direct stuff like this
This movie wasn’t very good, but that’s what happens when Costner controls every aspect of the movie. This movie isn’t terrible, but it’s mediocre at best. My partner liked it and wants to see part 2 to hopefully see how part 1 and part 2 tie together.
Just saw this last night, and want to address a very specific part of the movie: the female characters. The female characters were done so poorly in this it ruined my viewing experience. Firstly, the little girl character was played by Georgia MacPhail, an actress who was 11 or 12 during filming, and looks it. The plot handled this child like all the lonely male characters were looking at her romantically, and geez, I did not like that. The whole 'give the soldiers a token to remember you by' thing she did with the adult male soldiers (they looked like they were at least mid 20s to me) is very romantically coded, why are we doing this with a character who is literally the age of Lolita??? The movie tried to make it seem sweet but it's just creepy. I think anyone who has lived through childhood SA would feel deeply uncomfortable with how the movie framed the only girl child. Then Sienna Miller's character was not handled any better, she had just watched her husband and son be unalived and gone through intense trauma hiding in a hole while her house burns down, but the viewers are supposed to believe weeks later she's getting crushes and making out with hot soldiers?? Huh?? It's like she's an NPC there just for male characters to act romantically towards, not an actual grieving widow. Is is really that difficult to at least add some lines nodding to her grief as she's pursuing this new dude? And then in another story point, the only n*de scene is a different bathing young woman, because of course, and it's framed like we are leering at her. Completely not necessary in an otherwise bloated runtime. Lastly, Costner cast a thin blonde model 32 years younger than him to play his love interest. Seriously?? You could have cast an actress who looked like she was much older and it would have made more sense in the plot, the character's desperation and long term struggle would be more obvious if it didn't look like she had just stepped off a runway. The whole movie, top to bottom, was so, so, bad towards the women and it just had me walking out of the theater shaking my head and asking why it's 2024 and we still have to deal with this.
Jumbled? Yes. Riveting? Resounding no. Plot line? Not really and very little conversation. Couldn't wait to see it. I mean, Kevin Costner...it has to be great. So disappointed. Cinematography was beautiful. Costuming was good....but a spotless white in dress on the trail? Pretty but not authentic. 3 hrs is too long. Some people left early.
