Tips: 1. Make sure hair stays well moisturised 2. Avoid heat on hair 3. Trim hair only as needed 4. Don't put heat on dirty hair 5. Don't overlap on chemicals (eg relaxer & bleaching) 6. Treat hair with TLC (comb gently working from ends to root) I'm guilty of wearing those rubber bands....Can't wait to hear the other tips!
Thanks. I'm guilty of not wearing satin scarves and bonnets to bed, but I got a satin lined beanie that works better for me and some satin pillowcases. I also need to be better about detangling my hair. I'm not through enough and I get a lot of knots.
using satin or silk ponytail holder is a way better option AND AND AND put conditioner on the hair before you take down any styles down so you get to detangle and condition at the same time. THAT saves a lot of time :)

Thank you Linwood for this video!! I suffer from serious serious hair breakage and I’m going to take your advice and give my hair the respect & tlc is needs.
Thank you! You explained this so incredibly simply. You just kept blowing my mind. Like... I knew moisturizing was important for skin, but it never even crossed my mind that the same goes for hair. It all just makes sense now. And you even explained it without promoting a product! Thank you!
I needed this!!! I recently got scissor happy cutting my ends and cut about 3 or 4 inches off!! Now I hate it, it still has some length but its just not the same!!!! I usually keep it twisted up under a wig so I can hide for a while lol. I actually washed my hair yesterday and wanted to cut some more. I get so tempted with scissors!
1. Make sure your hair is moisturized and the moisture balance is high 2. Minimize heat 3. Make sure you trim your hair as needed 4. Never put heat on dirty hair 5. Don’t overlap on chemicals, don’t over-process your hair 6. Ponytail wearers, don’t wear them all the time and make sure you move the ponytail to different positions 7. Make sure to use the right ponytail holder with no metal parts 8. Never use manilla rubber-bands on your hair 9. Sleep on satin or silk (bonnets, pillow cases or sheets) 10. Treat your hair with TLC
I love the way explain things out here . There was lot of take away from this video!! Minute before watch this I was getting mad, but thank GOD I found this video and started to understand why I m facing lot of hair breakages.
Thank You Linwood for sharing tips on hair breakage.I needed to hear this. The hair dresser I went to said it was my blood pressure medicine. The dr said it was stress. When I took biotin and multivitamins hair breakage was less. Plus l plan to stop wearing this wig.I'm just tired of it.lol
Ugh that protein/moisture balance struggle is REAL! I'm high porosity so I naturally lack in both moisture AND protein. I'm either going into Hydral fatigue or protein overload trying to find the balance! BUT I think I'm getting closer to figuring it out. Ph balancing my products & alternating between a protein free, moisturizing DC & light protein DC biweekly has helped. I almost have my 4b/4c hair mastered! I'm so excited lol.💃💃💃💃😆
Yasssssss 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 this right here!!!!!! This video!!!!! This information!!!!!!!! This guy right here!!!!!!!! Say it louder please! The protein treatment nonsense, the styling dirty hair nonsense, and the lack of proper moisture information being put out!!!!!!!! This video is so needed! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Will you please do more videos on relaxed hair? Do you have any suggestions on relaxed hair products that are natural and/or salon quality that's budget friendly? Also tips on maintaining and growing relaxed hair.
You absolutely! Explained hair care so thoroughly that everyone that watches this video walk away with new wisdom and understanding so I appreciate that. And the hand gesture is also letting your audience know that you are truly engaged so thank you thank you thank you.
Thank you. Your videos are very helpful and well explained. I'm finally understanding why my fine delicate hair doesn't grow. I'm going to implement your hair advice & see what happens!
Thanks so much for being detailed. Can you do a video on how to retain length and reduce breakage on your diabetic clients and clients with hypertension? It seems that once I had my last child at 35 , my system changed with both diseases mentioned above and my hair bc of the meds turned dry and brittle 😞. Any and all advice would be appreciated . I do protected styles. Remain Blessed.
For the hypertension, a huge part of it is going to tie back to diet. Blood pressure meds are known to cause shedding of the hair, so eating less salty food and getting more regular exercise goes a long way. The lower your dosage, the less the medication has that impact. Now for a lot of my clients on meds, I’ll do periodic clarifying treatments and then deep condition under a hair steamer to encourage more moisture. Also, if you sweat heavily in your head, try cowashing between shampoos. 👍🏽❤️
Hey, just binge watched your vids on dry, breakage, moisturizing and noticed you mentioned nutrition. Can you do a video on your take on hair vitamins? I was using one for hair skin and nails and although hair got stronger my skin was a bit more oily than I’d like. Thanks for you’re amazing knowledge and dedication! Hope you get a show soon!
You’ve probably seen this already, but he talked about it a bit in the video he did about hair grease. The short answer was that it’s better to focus on supplementing holistically, because you want your whole body to be healthy, and your hair will draw and benefit from that. Plus, some of the more “specialized” supplements will have excessively high amounts of certain stuff and this can actually cause issues. Anyways, the vid will have his full words on it. And of course, consult your doc about stuff!
Can you do a detailed video on how to identify damage or need for a trim on natural hair in its natural state(not flat ironed) With visual aids if possible? And I love your channel
Hi, I’m new to your channel, I’ve seen dramatic changes to my hair moisture using your tips, I’ve been natural for 5 years and all the natural hair bloggers I follow never talked about the cool rinse, Or how important it is, I must say that tip really help my hair moisture balance I just want to say THANK YOU!!!
I’m so happy I found you and this video. I’m Swedish and nobody here seem to know what to do with my breakage my hairdresser keep asking if I use flat iron and I don’t. My hair has gotten so Frissy and breaking. I have highlights done by my hairdresser. I’m definitely gonna buy some new products you told about for giving my hair more moisture than just my jojoba oil.
Love love love this channel! The details and examples you give have helped me grow my natural hair after watching numerous other hair gurus who methods didn't work for me. I wonder if you could give a list of ways to keep your natural hair healthy while it's in a protective style like braids or a sew in.
Thanks for the email speaking on this video, literally on time- as I just went and got my quarterly ends trimmed couple days ago. My heart was HURT when the stylist showed me fishtail breakage, been getting my ends trimmed every 3 months and NO one else noticed this ( I've been searching for the right stylist and finally found one!!) I used to wear high buns and I swear I'm done with ponytails all together, my heart was hurt but I'm happy I know now, was juuuuuust thinking about high buns for the summertime but NOPE, RIP to my cute buns that served me NO justice. Tear lol
Thank you so much. I just discovered your channel this week. I will apply the principles you have laid out. My hair is natural and dry most of the time. I never thought to moisturize my hair when it was cornrowed. Thanks again.
moisture, moisture, moisture is my favorite it helped me from my hair breakage n combing correctly / detangling gentle..... my hair seem to grow since I practiced these 2 things
You are amazing! A gifted stylist, great instructor, and you can sing! Triple threat! This video was so informative, I'm going to watch it again and take notes. I hope you reach 100k subscribers by New Years. Go GlamFam!!!

Great tips!! Love love love your approach/presence!! I have yards & yards of satin fabric that I bought to make pillowcases months ago... which remain in the shipping box!! 😒Thanks for the reminder Boo!! 💜 Would love videos on...-Product suggestions for DC's, shampoos, relaxers, et al.... are the more expensive products better?? What do you think about JBCO, Amla oil, essential oils, Fenugreek seeds and the like?? -What are your thoughts on frequenting Dominican hair salons?? Some say that these salons are no good for our hair. Would love you to weigh in. I've been going to them for 15 years... Love them but have noticed my SUPER thick hair has thinned but not sure if it's age related. Thanks so much!!
Linwood, Thanks so much for this video. I just shared it with my wife. She spent almost a year in loose braids (ugh) growing her hair out for it to grow to a great length only to break off several months later and she doesnt have a clue why. She went to a beautician in Philly who claimed to specialize in natural hair so no perms etc. My wifes hair looked amazing, healthy and shiny for a time. Her beautician did caramel treatments and would wash, condition, blow and flat iron then curl my wifes hair and it just started breaking off terribly after paying all that money to keep it done 2x per month.
I use designer essential almond shampoo and I do a clesterol treatment once a week. I use leave-in conditioner and wave neuvo finishing mist. I also use wave neuvo moisturizer. Satin scarf at night
Linwood. I ❤ you too Boo. Just shared this video and it all makes serious sense. For the hair care that I have learned from you, so happy to share with others. You SLAY your videos. God Bless you!
Great vid btw!!! IDK what my issue is? I only use good moisture conditioners like Mizani Hydrafuse and Nexus moisture plus conditioner. I also do hot oil steam treatments every other week and use hair dress creams daily b/c my hair can feel dry at times. I was even trying the rice water too, which I think helped with friction and knotting. I only use a hooded hair steamer. I don't use my blow dryer or hooded hair dryer anymore. I look for split ends daily & dust them off. I wear my hair in dookie twists everyday b/c I only let it dry naturally. I only sleep on a satin pillowcase. I wash/condition my hair every other week. And I do all of this and yet, my tightly coiled hair still self knots & snaps off the ends. In turn, it appears like my hair will not grow passed a certain point which is at bra strap length on my back and/or shoulder length on the sides. I've been natural since 2004 and so, my hair should be down to my butt & not just to my bra strap. Also, my crown area likes to break off here and there, which also is common for my mom and sister so I guess that's hereditary. I'm just lost as to why it doesn't grow longer? Maybe I don't drink enough water or something, which seems like such a cliche answer? If you have any add'l suggestions, pls let me.......Thanks
Okay now, Preach The Hair Care to us 🙌!! I have learned a lot from this video, especially about detangling and hair to start doing that with my hair grooming tool, okay. Thank you 😊❤️, keep us going!!
Great content!!!! Can you go into more detail as to how to care for hair that is broken from the roots that needs to catch up with the ends, jagged and short pieces over the entire head. Thank you!!!!
Thank you!!! Your tips are helping my hair grow, I’m so, so happy. When this pandoc is over and you are in Los Angeles. I could show you my hair. Of if you come a teach a master class, I will be there!!! You and your family take care.
I'm a new watcher, and I love you already💙! I'm looking forward to watching all of your videos as a future cosmetologist. You are very informative as well as entertaining! Keep the videos coming😊❤.
OMG ...You read my mind! Was going to request that you made a video about hair breakage. I want to the salon for a silk press and the stylist said the majority of mr hair is breakage. Thanks about to start watching 😊
In natural and my hair grows soooo slow...i trim my hair but i dont think i trim enough off....i keep my hair moisturized well because i have hair that soaks up everything...i do the lco method...thank you for the tips
You should add staying hydrated!!! I rarely drink water! Also I’m very picky on water, I only drink Fiji. Idk why.. anyways I racked up on so many bottles.. lol and thank you!!! I haven’t heard so many of the tips you gave.
Questions: How do I keep my edges moisturized? What edge control can I used that will not revert my hair? If I use a satin pillowcase do I still need to put a bonnet or wrap it ?
Hey there, I hope this is the right place to ask? What do you think about texturizer? I had such nice hair in it’s natural state. However, since I did The Fast 800 diet, which is high in protein and Mediterranean foods for the last year, my hair went brittle and had severe breakage. Despite moisturising. I went to my stylist and she revived my hair with, trimming, shampooing, deep conditioning, steam treatment. After straightening with blow drying and using steam powered straighteners. I like the idea of going from straight to curly when I want especially as I like to swim in the summer. Apart from hair dye with no alcohol. I’ve had no other process in 9 years. Sorry this is so long.
I have thin hair, and I'm a Cancer survivor and lose a lot of my edges due to chemicals. I still want to learn from you if there is some way to regain my hair and make it stronger.
courtney porter Go to: Alopeciafree on UA-cam. She will so completely explain, demonstrate, and educate on ALL aspects of that hair issue. Good luck.👍👍😀
I have type 4 hair and have attempted to detangle my hair dry and damp and it's the worst hair mistake I've made. I have to detangle with wet hair and product. Our other tips and videos are great!
That was so much information that was REALLY needed for me to hear. I have all girls and we are all mixed babies of color. African Spanish native American and Caucasian. Very beautifully mixed. It's hard yo keep moisture in all our hair we live in nm. Very very different elements go on here. Thank you very very much
Respectfully, I am confused about your delineation between Spanish and Caucasian. Spanish refers to the White people from Spain and their language. They colonized the Native Indians in the New World and forced their language(Spanish)on them. I felt the need for a history lesson to clarify. Blessings to you and your babies.
Tips:
1. Make sure hair stays well moisturised
2. Avoid heat on hair
3. Trim hair only as needed
4. Don't put heat on dirty hair
5. Don't overlap on chemicals (eg relaxer & bleaching)
6. Alternate the positions you wear your ponytail
7. Don't use ponytail holder with metal clasp
8. Don't use manilla rubber bands
9. Sleep on satin or silk (satin bonnet, pillowcase, sheets)
10. Treat hair with TLC (comb gently working from ends to root)
I'm guilty of wearing those rubber bands....Can't wait to hear the other tips!
You are the MVP. Thanks!
Thanks. I'm guilty of not wearing satin scarves and bonnets to bed, but I got a satin lined beanie that works better for me and some satin pillowcases. I also need to be better about detangling my hair. I'm not through enough and I get a lot of knots.
Thanks Sunny. You simplified my entire life :-). Be blessed!

using satin or silk ponytail holder is a way better option AND AND AND put conditioner on the hair before you take down any styles down so you get to detangle and condition at the same time. THAT saves a lot of time :)

Thanks so much!!

I’m so thankful that I have been able to assist! Thanks for watching!
Linwood,
Thanks so much for this video.
Great information as always, I need to stay away from my tight ponytails & buns.
Ready for my challenge to start tomorrow. I'm all in.
You are a great educator, we need more cosmetologist like you you !
Thank you for your examples to make it plain. You're awesome.

😂😂😂
Questions: How do I keep my edges moisturized? What edge control can I used that will not revert my hair? If I use a satin pillowcase do I still need to put a bonnet or wrap it ?
I love how informative your videos are. Thank you and please keep sharing your knowledge!
Watching this video while laying on my pillow with a red satin pillow case 👀!! 😀 I’m taking notes to retain length. 👍🏽
Hi Linwod, thank you for the hair care clip. I have locks and do it myself, I do not condition my hair but will. do it now
With conditioning Your locs, add a bit of water to the conditioner so you don’t end up with build up in your locs! It really makes a huge difference!
thank you. I do have the build up, with this info I would better be able to control it :)
Thank you Linwood! This was so needed but really, a lot of this is just common sense. TLC for hair always. Be blessed always x
Good point about the absorbency issue. I have to invest in silk and satin. 😉
Love love love your personality!!! 💙💙💙. Thanks for all the tips! They’re super helpful!
How to treat alopecia or regrow a bald spot
courtney porter
Go to: Alopeciafree on UA-cam. She will so completely explain, demonstrate, and educate on ALL aspects of that hair issue. Good luck.👍👍😀
Ty so much for all the info. I need it. Decing to go to Cosmo school but until then my hair is damage and needs all the help in the world
Very good video! I also make sure my combs and brushes are kept clean because you know some people 😀
I have type 4 hair and have attempted to detangle my hair dry and damp and it's the worst hair mistake I've made.
