    Sigh. Relaxers, or should I say the incorrect application of relaxers throughout my childhood is what took away my edges. Every time my hair was relaxed, I would develop scalp burns, especially along the edges. I didn't realize that that constant injuries to the area, would cause the hair follicles to due. Relaxers burned off my edges.

    I watched your video when you went to the salon and they used rollers to straighten your hair and I absolutely love it..and so do my ends! I just apply a dot of oil to my ends at night and it's working

    I think its the tightness more than the length of time its in

    • @DenaJ
      @DenaJ  2 роки тому

      Wasn't tight at all and the hair loosens week by week. The weight of the braids would then pull on the hair closest to the roots esp in single plaits.

    I started air drying my hair after deep conditioning and it’s made a big difference

    7:56 I've never worn a protective style...that's just been my preference...mind you I only had braids once for 3 months and each month I had them redone cause I didn't like what the person did. And I've never worn a lace wig.
    I do see the women wearing them and they do on sharp but I often wonder what their hair looks. Thank goodness my edges have always been good.
    I use the products Phyto...and I make my own hair grease.

      How do I do protective styles when I'm against wearing weave and have short hair?

  • @tiffymiche599

    The way you blow dry in your demo is the best way to minimize damage - but you should also use the concentrator nozzle on the dryer to properly direct the airflow (always downwards) so to prevent unnecessary cuticle fraying which further weakens the hair over time and reduces the cuticles' ability to function properly. This will also help you achieve even smoother blow dry results.
    Great video - beautiful hair, beautiful woman.

      Awww thanks for the guidance. My nozzle attachment keeps falling off, so that's why it isn't on. But I'll work out a hack for it. ❤️🤗

      Is it ok to use the comb attachment? I have relaxed hair I use that when I blow dry.

    • @DenaJ
      @DenaJ  2 роки тому +2

      If that's working out good for you, I wouldn't tell you to stop. It does more harm than good for me tho 🤷🏾‍♀️

    • @tiffymiche599
      @tiffymiche599 2 роки тому +2

      @@MrsFutch it's the hard plastic that has no give/flexibility that is problematic I think - I find the comb attachment is easier on the hair when used on very small sections (so maybe split each quarter section into 3 or 4 depending on density) - this will reduce the tension and pulling - so minimal breakage - hopefully. I'd say just be extra gentle- especially from the mid shaft to the ends. And with smaller sections use low heat/low speed.
