I think I know why the loading screens exist, in the early days of rom hacking it was very difficult to modify a rom, usually the code couldn’t be changed and stuff like intro screens couldn’t be removed, but the data that appeared on that screen could be modified as long as it fit in the same amount of data, so they would change the company screen because they couldn’t remove it.
Those "COM ports" are called DB9 sockets and they're still commonly sold by electronics retailers, much like DB15 and DB25, for practically pennies these days.

Some companies don't seem to have an understanding of parodies, though. I don't think I wanna know who this *"CERTAIN* person" is. I can guess, but I'd rather not think about it.
I expect the colour differences are just from emulation issues, like the weirdly coloured background on the Mario menu. Also, I expect the creators of this didn’t remove the “Super Mario Bros.” sign from Super Mario Bros. 3, instead some other bootleggers in the past did it, and then the Cool Baby creators just stole it from them. The original bootleggers probably didn’t include the other Mario games, or also modified Super Mario Bros. 2, and then the Cool Baby creators didn’t steal that ROM for whatever reason. If you look back through these bootleg consoles, you’ll see that each bootleg gets progressively more and more bootlegged as time goes on. A bootleg from the 1990’s eventually evolves into loads and loads of bootlegs that you can find now. It’s strange but kinda cool at the same time.
A funny thing about the bootleg Pikachu platformer is that you can freely move Pikachu on the screen when the game is paused. I used to do this at a friend's house to see who would finish the game faster doing that
I have a better solution, take this system, throw it in the trash and burn the whole can. Buy the official famicom/SNES Classic, or any other emulator, and have a MUCH funner experience with your money
Hay REREZ when you are playing a officially licensed cartridge copy of Kung Fu Heroes on an actual NES system the music will still periodically cut-out like what you shown us in this video. I don't know why the music dose this.
My relatives gifted me this exact console. I enjoyed playing it until the two controllers just got busted for like an hour. I played super mario brothers 3 and Tower of Drauga with this console and when I was done, I packed it up and hid it somewhere I will not gonna remember
pacman III is actually fascinating. So there's an atari 7800 hack by the Dahrk Daiz , which you can see in the game in this thing. However as far as I know it's not for nes. I wasn't able to find a lot of information with a quick google search, but I'd imagine they ported the game from 7800... to the nes. poorly. which is just baffling to me. The see-through ghosts, the look and design of the mazes, it's all by mr. daiz! I have no idea why they decided to do this. Can I get some upvotes on this so Rerez actually gets a chance to see it? I think he'd find this information interesting.
Fun fact: Above the puzzle game option is an edited sprite of Bass (or Forte) from Megaman 7, just weirdly edited to look kind of 8 bit and have flat colors.
The people who made the hardware are not the same people who made the software. Dollars to donuts, the hardware company bought a cheap bundle of games from a professional video game piracy company. Each game is likely pirated by a different software engineer, which is why some have fake loading screens and some have logos removed, but some don't.

Mongolian is way too irrelevant to make it out anywhere. Cyrillic you randomly run into is pretty much always either Russian, Ukrainian or Bulgarian (you can tell Ukrainian by "I" appearing outside of "Ы", and Bulgarian by the fact that it makes no sense). Sometimes, very rarely, you also run into Serbian which has like "ђ","љ" and "њ" on top of the Russian characters but beyond that it's highly unusual to run into any other language using this script, at least on the internet.
Even i could make a decent NES classic edition clone, you just need to have the right chips, verify that it can run games like Castlevania 3 both japanese and US release with no issues, and give it a decent built quality so it doesn't break in a few weeks like most famiclones do. and instead of having built in games that you may not want, i think it would be far better to include not only both a Famicom and NES slot so you can play your physical cartriges(i actually had a famiclone that had a NES slot too)but also include a cart with an SD card slot so you can play any rom you want. if only that could happen instead of these poorly made famiclones..
You may be better off gutting a *completely dead* NES or Famicom, fitting a Raspberry Pi in it, and programming your own emulator. I'm sure somebody has already done that. As for the cartridge compatibility, that's where the Pi's GPIO comes in.
Yeah, I'd definitely love to do that. If I was involved in putting games on one of these, I'd definitely go for a lot of the well known ones and generally stay away from ROM hacks. Of course, there are some that could genuinely be game improving, like an easy mode for games like Zelda 2, translation patches for Japanese games, Simon's Redaction for Castlevania 2, and so on. Definitely not pad out the list with bootleg games.
Could've been Mongolian for all we know. I only have a modicum of knowledge of Russian because of some Russian bootlegs that I wanted to translate into English to know what was being said. Also so much "сука блять."
Your suffering is my entertainment. Thanks, man! What demographics do you think mainly gets tricked into buying these things?? I think the COM ports are because the circuitry is so ridiculously cheap to print on the system board, whereas USB requires an additional microchip (unless you’re just using it for power)
My stepdad bought me a different model of the Coolbaby called Mini Game Anniversary Edition Entertainment System, because it looked a lot like the NES Classic. I actually thought it was legit even a few minutes after plugging it in and trying it, but only because I hadn't checked out what the real NES Classic was supposed to look like. When I researched it online after seeing how flaky the system seemed, I saw the start menu and all the sophisticated looking stuff and was like "oh. I see." But I still like the system, it has some great games :)
I think the only people buying this kind of products are (grand)parents with tight budget, wanting to give their (grand)son something to play while not having a whole lot of money.
I've been going through these older videos recently, and Shane slowly but surely losing his mind because of these garbage bootleg consoles is truly a sight to behold.
Shadow Warriors is the PAL version of Ninja Gaiden. What they did here is they took the PAL rom of Ninja Gaiden (Shadow Warriors), they modified the copyright information; but since its intended to be played on a PAL CPU, it plays too fast on this NTSC NES emulator. Hence the sped up music
The resolution from a SNES classic is not *only* 720p, there’s a reason for it. 720p the best resolution to run classic 4:3 games in HD because of integer scaling.
I was hoping this would exist after the first one. I thought maybe that could improve with the cool baby being not the... worst thing ever. Ah well. There is always the cool baby 3 Also noooo! They butchered Tecmo Soccer! That was my favourite sports game on the system! The monsters!
I love how even the little “HDMI 1080p” thing at the bottom left of the box is a rip off of the USK logo (the USK rates entertainment media over here in germany and it looks exactly like the ages 12 and up variation)
17:04 I don't think that's what they mean by "non-repeatable". I think they're separating the games into sort of arcade style games and more traditional 'finite' games. For example, Arcade Mario Bros, Dig Dug, Donkey Kong are "endurance" games because they essentially loop forever and it's all about getting a high score. Whereas games like Super Mario Bros 3, Ninja Gaiden, and yes Adventure Island are "non-repeatable" in the sense that they actually have an ending. (With a New Game + loop, but you know what I mean.)
Well yea thats why i stated what i did, I meant it as a bad thing. I wouldn't waste a dollar on these consoles. I still have my old systems so no need to buy them anyway
Robert gaming, If you want an arcade plug and play i would suggest the super retrocade. Its not the most powerful but you can add games to it and use your own arcade usb stick if you have one retro-bit.com/super-retrocade

If you look back through these bootleg consoles, you’ll see that each bootleg gets progressively more and more bootlegged as time goes on. A bootleg from the 1990’s eventually evolves into loads and loads of bootlegs that you can find now. It’s strange but kinda cool at the same time.
I looked up the company that modded the hello kitty game, they make majong "for the old man" as well as "kind garden" games.
They made... a second one..
*Sigh.*
there are so many of these things look up a youtuber called
wicked game and collector
he has reviewed so many of them
Coolbaby 2
Wireless Air 60
Worst Plug and Play 2

6:57 It’s Bass from Mega Man 7
I thought it was Mega Man himself lol
I like how he is above puzzle games. Because when i think puzzles games i think of the blue bombers oh yep yep yep.
*snorts* its pronounced Bass 😲
The slow and systematic destruction of Shane at the hands of Gearbest. Better go grab me some popcorn
Superman had Lex.
AVGN had LJN.
Rerez has Gearbest.
When they released Snes Classic Edition, we could see CoolBaby running after it from a distance XD.
A funny thing about the bootleg Pikachu platformer is that you can freely move Pikachu on the screen when the game is paused. I used to do this at a friend's house to see who would finish the game faster doing that
So. Time for you to gut this & shove a Raspberry Pi into it to give it some worth?
+Knuxfan24 YES! Please put this thing out of its misery if you get your hands on one.
Knuxfan24
the joypads should be fixed too
I have a better solution, take this system, throw it in the trash and burn the whole can. Buy the official famicom/SNES Classic, or any other emulator, and have a MUCH funner experience with your money
Exactly Buy a snes classic USB Host Mod It .. Presto
Just put a small fully fledged gaming computer into this one and you got a decent sleeper rig more than you can bargain for.
The connector is probably “Dendy” compatible. Look for “dendy pinout”. You can then wire a real NES or SNES controller.
hadessuk Oh 🅱oi, the Dendy. An NES clone no one talks about anymore.
Extremewrecker2000 The willer. Dendy also known as the slavic nes
PurpleTeam Pyrostrike The Dendy is so good.
Extremewrecker2000 The willer. Yes comrade
PurpleTeam Pyrostrike In Soivet Russia, game plays you.
Shane/Rerez, look at the bright side. At least it's not made by the makers of the Wireless Air 60.
PLEASE don't give those psychos any ideas.
Imagine if the makers of the Wireless made a Switch ripoff. #HOLYSHIT
kenterminatedbygoogle I'd rather not.
+Chaos89P Neither would I.
im waiting for the wireless VR 60
22:05 "You know how bad it is?"
IT'S.
JUST.
BAD.
"It's The Jungle Book and they turned Mowgli into Crash Bandicoot" is easily the funniest thing I've heard on UA-cam all week.
Hay REREZ when you are playing a officially licensed cartridge copy of Kung Fu Heroes on an actual NES system the music will still periodically cut-out like what you shown us in this video. I don't know why the music dose this.
Misspelled does
@@razernexus2717 But alas, not a damn was given
I don't think I've heard the word turpentine in 20 years lol. That Spidey looked like a spruced up version of the 2600 original.
Touchgameplayer(doot)com is all about bootleg video game systems
@Es Croe, There are probably only like 10 games duplicated over and over.
Alright, can you give me an Exact Description?
8bit torture devices more like.
My relatives gifted me this exact console. I enjoyed playing it until the two controllers just got busted for like an hour. I played super mario brothers 3 and Tower of Drauga with this console and when I was done, I packed it up and hid it somewhere I will not gonna remember
23:31 Wasn't Pac Man "Having Eyes" one of like the four positives you gave the game for Atari
I was seriously waiting for Rerez to bring out the hammer, again. XD
3 is the best NES game ever released. Change my mind.
Personally, I prefer 4.
Gamecubes0 I prefer Over 9000.
Fawzan Fawzi i prefer 3rdtales
CK/\AA N18, yo
Fawzan Fawzi you know that game "3"
pacman III is actually fascinating.
+gamerman I can't believe that this is a thing.
I liked playing that game, and with the random level option I think you can actually access a few stages that go beyond the broken stage.
Fun fact: Above the puzzle game option is an edited sprite of Bass (or Forte) from Megaman 7, just weirdly edited to look kind of 8 bit and have flat colors.
I don't know why, but seeing Shane suffer through these bootleg console reviews is so freaking entertaining.
26 minutes? I have a bad feeling about this console
The people who made the hardware are not the same people who made the software. Dollars to donuts, the hardware company bought a cheap bundle of games from a professional video game piracy company. Each game is likely pirated by a different
software engineer, which is why some have fake loading screens and some have logos removed, but some don't.
I think he's going insane.
I agree
Hmm, Shipbreaker Crest? Never heard of it, let's try it out--GAHH IT'S ADVENTURE BLRRGHHFGHH ISLAND AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!
Why wouldn't he
Adventure Island is to blame
Tbh Rerez, you could be a voice actor. This stuff is great, love your videos!

You love them CoolBaby systems. Rerez might as well be CoolDaddy
Wow how long did it take to do that joke
Shane always goes crazy with the 2nd episodes.
21:58 That looks like a “Tarzan” demake. The young boy is Young Tarzan from Disney’s Tarzan, which was originally a PS1 game.
I love your totally honest reviews and you do an amazing acting job, vocally coming across as a mix of Patton Oswalt and Shaggy from "Scooby Doo". :D
11:40 hahahaha, this game is in Russian, its called "Warehouse №18"
So it was Russian. I was telling somebody else that it could've been Mongolian. I kinda figured it was Russian, though.
it's a sokoban clone
Mongolian and russian languages have the same transcription) but yeah that was Russian. lmao))
Those Sokoban clones are everywhere. I played it on my TI-85 calculator some 20 years ago.
Definitely not pad out the list with bootleg games.
i remember cyka no.18
i had it in my 167 in 1 cartridge for my gba
ah... horrible memories
6:57 The guy at this timestamp is Bass from Mega Man 7, 8, and 10.
Also, heh… 621 games.
17:47 Ooohh the aliens are hanging out in the tubes again. The Blink games need a backstory, even if they are just Super Mario Bros hacks.
They must obviously have a real stiffy for Master Higgins if they're able to feature "Adventure Island" so many times on the console. XD
Casey Decker 13 of these games had "Adventure Island" and "Adventure Island 2", and they are duplicates with made up titles.
"HNNGHH! It's Adventure Island again!" 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
They really adapted the Spider-Man movies well, especially part 2 when Peter fought Doc Ock 20 times.
*255 times.
On the 256th time the game freezes and the screen fills with multicolored junk as soon as the stage tries to load.
11:40 yay, more people trying to speak Russian but miserably failing 👌
that ending though
-chkaaaaaa number 18-
i_am_a_duckhead privjet comrade
What were you expecting from a Canadian boi.
Could've been Mongolian for all we know. I only have a modicum of knowledge of Russian because of some Russian bootlegs that I wanted to translate into English to know what was being said. Also so much "сука блять."
The Russian game is Sokoban, a real classic
I like that they've named it after Sklad for... some reason.
“How much Adventure Island games do you want on the cons-“
*”yes”*
I do believe the Blink games are a reference to Blink 182, given how they’re full of alien enemies and Tom Delonge is super hardcore into alien stuff
I mean... who would've expected something better than this from Chinese manufacturers?
Your suffering is my entertainment. Thanks, man!
What demographics do you think mainly gets tricked into buying these things??
I think the COM ports are because the circuitry is so ridiculously cheap to print on the system board, whereas USB requires an additional microchip (unless you’re just using it for power)
The demographic? I would assume those who don't know exactly what they're looking for and end up with a knockoff.
I got tricked cus I’ve never seen the actual thing and they put stickers on he parts that would’ve shown me it was fake
One of these days, one of these clone consoles will break you. haha
Ah well. There is always the cool baby 3
Also noooo!
Imagine them looking at this video and being like "oh.. no..."
When you go to Touchgameplayer.com its full of bootleg consoles and handhelds
Mike L These are the consoles you have to avoid. Way too many hacks and homebrew titles for both "Cool Baby" and "Cool Baby 2".
Well yea thats why i stated what i did, I meant it as a bad thing. I wouldn't waste a dollar on these consoles. I still have my old systems so no need to buy them anyway
How do I get it's arcade bootleg plug and play
Robert gaming, If you want an arcade plug and play i would suggest the super retrocade. Its not the most powerful but you can add games to it and use your own arcade usb stick if you have one retro-bit.com/super-retrocade
21:25 Reminds me a lot of the Battleblock Theater cutscenes.
Dude, I love your channel. I can't help but feel like Morty is reviewing these games
Never thought I'd see Crash Bandicoot running around completely nude someday.
