- Slipknot Psychosocial was super cool. This band really brought emotion to the message of their song. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I cannot wait to hear more Slipknot.

I see it as an anti-war song. "I did my time and I want out." The character is referring that he did his required time, either in Iraq, or in the military as a whole and wants out. "Go drill your deserts, go fill your graves" Pretty self explanatory. "Then fill your mouth with all the money you will save." While on deployment, troops make a lot more than back in the states. It's still not a lot, but compared to state-side, it's a small fortune. "I'm done! It has begun, I'm not the only one." The character is at his breaking point, he's fed up with the system as a whole. However, his psyche has been corrupted by what he has seen and done. There are others just like him. The chorus of the song refers to the overall corruption and death of a generation as a result of this war. "Fake anti-fascist lie." The lie based off of the poor intelligence that caused us to invade in the first place. "I've tried to tell you, but your purple hearts are giving out." The part about the purple hearts seems to have more than one meaning. The purple heart is a medal that the U.S. military members receive for being wounded in combat. Purple heart could also mean a literal heart that is in poor health. "Can't stop the killing idea. If it's hunting season. Is this what you want?" Now the character is out of the combat zone, back state-side, but all he has is a messed up psyche. Once the "kill switch" has been turned on, it doesn't turned off. All he has is pent up stress, homicidal and suicidal tendencies with a society that does not care or even blames him as part of the problem. Hence the whole term "Psychosocial."
yeah that anti war message is the recurring theme of the entire album, also showing up in execute/gematria, all hope is gone, and a bunch of others
“Packaging subversion” just the mere presence of western militaries in the Middle East seems to just create anti-west sentiment as a matter of course, like it’s a product in itself.
“The rain will kill us all” in Iraq at the burning oil fields, the oil is coming out of the ground at such a pressure it literally rains oil for hundreds meters around the area. Crude oil is pretty toxic and if you let it rain on you, it will probably kill you eventually. If we continue to make war over oil, ‘the rain will kill us _all_ ‘
It's absolutely about the Iraq War.
He is saying “go drill your deserts, go dig your graves then fill your mouth with all the money you will save” that is a reference to the on going war in the Middle East
This is what every music reactor should be taking notes on. If you're going to listen to intense music and vocals, you simply pull up the lyrics off camera to help guide you through the song to get to the meaning.. Good job my friend!
I totally recommend Sulfur to you, it’s insane. Along with that would be Spit it Out (live)
“The preservation of the martyr in me!” The paradox of this simple lyric is beautiful in its complexity.
I recently saw them in concert. It was amazing. Pure emotional rage.
Finally some slipknot ❤❤❤
I love that you looked up the lyrics - Corey Taylor (the lead singer) is a brilliant lyricist
If you’re looking for some really interesting reaction-fodder, I can’t recommend some old-school Mr. Bungle highly enough; maybe “My Ass Is On Fire” or “Quote Unquote.” They were a big influence on Slipknot’s early development, which in addition to influencing the masks, you can really hear on their pre-Corey album ‘Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.’
Also Mr. Bungle features the legendary Mike Patton on vocals, so it’s top-tier shit.
Hey there, old man! I started watching your content like an hour ago, and thus far I've seen you react to some of my favorite songs from bands I've loved for years, and I gotta say that I love the way you process the music for the reaction. Keep on keeping on, brother, you earned a sub!
I was a junior in high school when the first album came out, I purchased it and been a hard core fan ever since.
Love these guys concerts!!!
I like hearing you read the lyrics. 👍👍
This is beautifully constructed song, if you really want to understand how much work goes into their music and hear the things you don’t fully hear in the final mix but is what creates the overall Slipknot sound watch this Rick Beato videos of What makes this song great - Duality and especially Before I Forget. Some System of a Down would be great as well, a could list loads of songs but they are all good. Not like Slipknot sound wise but amazing and great lyrics, most open to interpretation but with a clear message as subliminal as they can be. And Jinjer always 🤘🤘🤘. Long live metal 👍👍👍
Have you reacted to any Slaughter To Prevail? If not, I highly recommend. 🤘
comment for the algorithm. Just found your channel. Seem like a cool guy.
I would love to see you react to nero forte if you didn't or Ghost-cirice

Listen to IOWA. That shit will blow your head clean off! AHIG (2008) has a few good songs and yes, it is a more political album surrounding the raging war at the time in the middle east and the hypocrisy of everything.
you should watch the psychosocial baby remix. better than both originals lmao
react to stay pls
....
Never thought you're gonna react to this song, cause you're only react to nero forte 😂

I did my time, and I want out, so effusive,
Fade, It doesn't cut, the soul is not so vibrant.
The reconning, the sickening,
Packaging subversion,
peudo sacrosanct perversion.
The whole first verse is about military service in the middle east.
They served and fulfilled the 4 year contract but they want out. But the politicians are saying that what the military did isn't enough and the spirits of the people aren't broken enough. But because of the actions of the terrorist groups the people of those areas haven't suffered enough to atone for what was done to the American people. But the treatment of innocence makes the soldier sick. Yet the media is subverting the public and getting them to support a prolonged war in the name of protecting religion and belief through manipulation of those ideas and concepts, perverting them.
To anyone who says "metal isn't political" metal has always been political. Metallica has multiple songs about the horrors of war and it's after affects, iron maiden has a ton of songs about the sacrifice of life in war, invasion, and battle. Sabaton... Pick a song. Megadeth songs about ww2, Slayer almost had a whole album about the horrors that the Nazis did. Black Sabbath... War pigs.... Need I say more.
