Finally! Layers on thick hair, light color hair! I have tailbone length hair that’s super thick and strawberry blonde. It’s hard to cut and not show any mistakes. This tutorial is well explained and easy to follow! Can’t wait to cut my hair now!
So well explained and honestly it was so easy to follow for the very first time! I cut my own hair following this tutorial and everyone loves my haircut
@@dillkaa when we take care of it we do 😂 recently started using products specifically for curly hair and mostly following the Curly Girl method and after 28+ yrs I finally love my hair lol
So strange how I always thought 90's hair looked so dated and bleh, and now that I'm seeing my generation and younger embrace it, it's started looking amazing to me XD Beauty and fashion ideals are truly so evanescent and I love it. Your cut looks beautiful. I'm just going to show this video to my hairdresser lol.
Thank you for finishing the tutorial. I would appreciate a more detailed one. I was obsessed with this haircut since I saw your tiktok. I wanted it so bad, but having my hair done isn't really an option right now, cause I lost my job and my ass is broke lol. Soooo, I really wanted to try to cut it myself, but I was apprehensive of finding a tutorial. And then you come to save the day! I've been cutting my fringes and doing slight trims for years, as well as doing my mom's and grandma's haircuts, so hopefully I won't mess this up 😅 Gonna pop in and say how it went when I do it! Upd: I did it! And honestly, I'm in love 😍
I tried this, but I made slightly less intense layers. I have longer but finer hair than you and I appreciate all your modifications! I love how it turned out! Feel pretty proud for my first haircut done by myself!
Thanks for showing people how to cut their own hair at home THE RIGHT WAY!! Instead of just putting it in ponytails and chopping it with kitchen scissors like so many tubers have been doing. As a stylist who's fixed a couple of those " UA-cam butterfly cuts" those really irk me 😂 You're explaining what, why and how. I don't have the guts to cut my own hair but if I did I would trust this tutorial over all the other ones out there. I'm assuming you're a stylist or have a very close relationship with one? Note to anyone watching this: you should check out your local beauty school for a good, cheap haircut. They have instructors with decades in the biz who oversee everything so you get a quality service at a fraction of the price.
I LOVE that you kept the thickness all the way to the ends - YET - you have these wonderful layers and they aren't too clumpy! This is fresh and flowing, but you still have LENGTH AND CURL!!! Yes, like the "Friends" hair style Jennifer A. had, but not that crazy short! You can still put it up in Many different styles!!! I LOVE IT!!!! YES - I would love more Tutorials on the steps you went through to get this! Its Gorgeous!!!
My hair is curly and I always like to look at straight hair cuts to match my cut. I really liked your technique, it was beautiful hair and didn't lose any length.
oh wow it looks soooo pretty! i’ve wanted hair like that for ages except leaving my hair longer at the back(it’s currently passed my bum) but my mother thinks i shouldn’t cut my hair like that cause we live in the heat of australia and it will be harder to put into a pony tail i just love the hairstyle so much! i’m very tempted to cut my hair anyway 🤭💇♀️
another thing i forgot to mention is that i have a lot of hair and it’s heavy so i was thinking maybe layers would make it lighter and more comfortable
Saw the Brad Mondo reaction and I knew as soon as you did the hair twist to cut layers, I was like, “Ohhhh she does this for a living, cutting hair!” 😅 But came to watch this video because I never have the time to go get a cut, so I’m always dusting my ends. But going to watch this because I do look good with layers and definitely want to do this eventually.
Hi Rachel, I’ve noticed this particular video is very different to your other tutorials as it starts from the back / bottom first to the front whereas the others start from the front of the head. Which is your most preferred? And which shall I follow? I will greatly Appreciate your response as I have used your front to back and that did wonders for me.
Hello! I love your videos! My only question is, how would it change things if my hair isn't parted in the middle, but a bit to the side? Because there would be more volume on one side, especially around the face... I don't want to mess up the layers...
Heyy, thanks so much! It does make it a bit more confusing but if you part your hair as you usually would and then start on the narrower side (ie the same side as your parting) as this hair will lie flatter. Then decide how short you want your shortest layer to be and take note of where that layer sits in relation to a specific feature of your face, e.g. cheekbone, chin, collarbone however you prefer. Now for the other side, brush your hair as you normally would, so that the hair is sitting where it would fall naturally if it were dry and following along from that feature you’ll be able to work out where to cut your your shortest layer. If you brushed all of your hair from your hairline forwards, one side will be longer than the other but that’s because that hair needs to travel further to get to that specific feature so that’s to be expected! Don’t worry if they seem uneven! I hope that makes sense, it’s a bit difficult to explain in writing! ☺️
Wow you are so talented!! Where do you cut and dye hair for customers? I really liked your hair color! Is your natural hair dark brown? I would be very happy if you could make a video of how you dyed your hair like that or show us what hair dyes you used. My dream is to have a hair color like this (:
I've been trimming my own hair for a while now, since watching this tutorial. Looks pretty good for a DIY cut. I am wondering though, about the inside pieces, just above the ear. The are currently longer, and sometimes come forward and kinda don't look right with the face-framing. But then I'm scared to cut them off, in case that part is supposed to have length.
Hi Rachel thank you so much for an amazing tutorial, this is sol helpful!! Question - I'd like to have the layers (last part of the video) a little less pronounced at the back, and sort of confined to the bottom 2 inches of the hair (to try and preserve as much overall length as possible). Can i achieve this by holding the 3 sections horizontally outward instead of holding them vertically above my head, thus reducing the gradation of layer? Or what would be the correct way to do it?
I want to know how to get your hair color at home. I'm a dark brunette and am struggling to get dome true blonde colors when I highlight. Your hair is soo gorgeous!!
In this video you did diagonal sections. On another with heavier layers, you used sections like segments of an orange, vertically. Which is easiest for a beginner with thick hair? Or is it more the diagonal for the lengths & vertical for layers?
Second!
Can I get a pin?
🥰

I think a little less perfectionism is relieving and looks ''natural'' because natural things are not computer-made-perfect. I like it.

The secret is a blowout with a round brush or blowout brush. Finish and hold the shape with the cool setting and it will look good.
