Just did this and I have a couple of notes. If you have a lot of hair, the sections are difficult to wrangle, so be patient and try to make them even as you can. Keep in mind that it seems all of the butterfly cut videos have the center part, so for those of us who *gasp* part on the side, you’ll have a heavier section that needs thinning bc it’ll be too chunky. I have professional-ish shears and thinning shears coming so I can refine things and soften things up on that thicker side. I was able to trim off 3-4” and still maintain decent length. Bring your patience and trust and this video on repeat. It does work! You may just need to go back and refine a bit after a blow dry to see where any chunks are. Hope this helps!😊
Thannnnk youuuu for the tips!! I don't know if you'll see this considering how long it's been, but could you please help me with cutting points? They make it look so easy, but done so fast that I'm not exactly sure how to do it🤦🏼♀️ I'm afraid I'll just take chunks out and all uneven at that lol
@@marymary5494 thanks for confirmation-suggestion, I was just thinking about that same thing as I have very long, thick hair, and I like multiple layers (more than three) and spoiling the overall length as less as possible.

Someone please explain to me why this comes out so much better doing it yourself over getting a bad chop from a cheap salon? Like can’t even they at least do this? Agree!! I have been to so many hairdressers only to have them butcher my hair🤦🏻♀️ For that reason my husband cuts my length, and I cut my own layers, it works great! I was looking for a good tutorial to cut my layers better as it's getting longer, and I will try out this
Saved myself $100 on a haircut; have fine & medium length hair that's naturally wavy. Watched this a few times, then gave it a whirl and... bam! I'm happy with the results. Only took about an inch off but it's noticeably cleaner on the ends. Also created my own face-framing layers, which added a little dimension. Thanks so much. You rock.
Perfect! Love it! I’m a hairstylist who no longer works (SAHM) so trying to find someone good and getting out of the house to get a haircut is mentally and emotionally exhausting! This is one of the best haircuts I’ve given myself, Thank You!!!! Turned out beautiful ♥️
I used to do this by turning my head upside down. I'd look between my legs at the mirror and just cut straight across. Came out perfectly layered every time. But it's not so easy now that I'm older. Lmao. I'll try this way and see how it comes out.😊😊
Did it result in a straight edge at the back please? I'm not so keen on the u shaped back. Thanks for the idea. I'm older too but very tempted to have a go! 🐱

From the last 8 years, i have never been to salon for my hair cutting. As i always like to cut my own hair and do it just my way, the length i want, the bangs and many more❤
you need to cut to the same length; the result after the cut will give you locks of different lengths forming layers on the lengths, once the hair gains the natural lengths longer at the back and short in the front and for more volume and movement after styling..

I just did this in 10 minutes and I love it! Thank you for showing this and now I don't have to go to a salon at all! Just decide how short you want the layers and go! Is this a good cut for thin hair???? I want to it but I don’t want it to make my hair look thinner or flat. Is there a stylist out there that can help answer my question?:)
This concept works except for one thing...when you cut you are dropping the elevation which throws the layers off. You should cut straight up without changing the elevation.
I’m excited about trying this. I recently learned to groom dogs, so I’ve got decent shears. Wow, it's like art of a sort. 🌟🌹🙂☺️
I tried this on myself and cut off 6 inches, it turned out perfect. Thanks!
After video and commenters I’m in! I haven’t had a cut for 10 months. Thank you to all the commenters and especially a great video. One comment - I wish I had seen the hair cut before the rubber bands because I would have liked to have seen the difference!
I wish they had shown the whole cut after they were done, I wanted to see the face and how the front framed the face.
Ty ty so much from India ❤❤❤... Just tried your haircut steps n trust me is just looks so cool ... I'm struggling with lots of hairfall so decided to add some bounce and I just did it 🥰🥰.. thanks a ton .
❤ thanks for easiest way of explaining.
Will this work on really thin hair?
OMG IT TURNED OUT PERFECT LOVE IT
Is this a good cut for thin hair???? I want to it but I don’t want it to make my hair look thinner or flat. Is there a stylist out there that can help answer my question?:)
Can the same technique be used on curly hair?
it works, but do not taper the tips, it is better to be a professional
I would love @manesbymell to show this style cut! 🤓
I am going to do this today! Thank you so much!!!!
Very happy with the results!
That was a 180° cut back in the 90's when I went to cosmetology school.
Best cut for beautiful layers in my curly hair 😁
This concept works except for one thing...when you cut you are dropping the elevation which throws the layers off. You should cut straight up without changing the elevation.
Thank you for this! I followed your demonstration and I’m pleased with my results
Omg! 🎉❤I love my haircut and was free.. Ty so much..
Super. Pas de plus facile que ça , merci à vous. Bonne continuation
SHOW THE FRONT!!!
Ty sooo much!!!This works!!!!!!!🎉👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Celeste
I’m excited about trying this. I recently learned to groom dogs, so I’ve got decent shears. I’ve had some recent monthly expense increases so aim looking for services I’ve previously paid for that I can DIY. Since learning to groom dogs giving my three boys hair cuts has been any easy tradition. I needed a method or template for my own hair.
I did this exactly like this and jacked my hair up!
Very beginning I don’t know how to part my hair like that 😂
The best vidéo i saw for layers ❤
Very nice tutorial gonna try Thankyou very much
Are they cutting straight across or kinda like at a certain angle i wanna try doing this cut😄😄
Oh, thank you! It helps so much to be able to save money right now. Everything is terribly expensive.
