I cut my hair like this and I never had so many compliments. Even a person came up to me asking if they could take a picture of my hair and show it to their hairdresser. Well done
Same thing happened to me except with my curtain bangs , they were like “oh my god your curtain bangs they are stunning “and I told her I just use 3 products which is a 1. blow dryer on bangs. 2. Use a Velcro hair roller you can get one from ultra . 3. Hairspray it. And then in like a hour take it out.
This is much better, than those "ruin your hair in 2 minutes with this ponytail trick". Have tried those quick cuts, and the after math is awful. Your video was not like that at all. You explained everything well, and the outcome is sweet and well blended. Thank you ❤
I just did this cut on my own hair. My last two salon trips honestly made me cry and gave up cutting or trimming my hair. Finally I am so happy with how good this cut turned out. If you are trying it for the first time like me, few tips: 1. Watch the video like 100 times. Not just this one, she has two more videos explaining in detail how to length cut and then how to do the face framing. Please watch all of them. 2. Start with length cut to level your hair first before going in on with layers 3. If you have fine hair, go for bigger sections, don’t take too many thin sections. 4. Be mindful of all the little tips she gives, those are honestly useful. I have medium length hair. I went for very short layers. And very little face framing almost at the bottom of my hair length. It turned out just exactly how i wanted it to look. Thank you Rachel😍😍😍😍😍😍
I've been cutting my hair at home for years, and I have to say, this is THE BEST at home haircut tutorial/routine. Along with your blowout tutorial it makes my hair look amazing, like I have stepped out of an expensive salon. But even when I don't do a blowout, the haircut still looks pretty good. Thank you!
Tried this haircut as my hair was feeling limp and dull, omg so much volume and bounce, it holds styles so much better too now. This tutorial is great !
The best haircut tutorial I’ve ever seen. Your explanations and steps were so easy and simple to follow. Thank you so much for dropping this wonderful video. You’ve no idea how grateful I’m right now.
I just cut my hair like this and I cannot believe how good it looks. I didn’t do any layers in the front, but cannot believe how great it looks! Don’t need to go to a salon anymore lol. Thank you girl!!!!🫶🏼
Did a butterfly cut and ended up with choppy U shaped layers?! Almost stroked, Thank you for your tutorial I followed it and now have the most voluminous beautiful hair!
I know you posted this a year ago, but I just wanted to say thank you so much! You explained this and showed all the steps in a way that work well with how I process information. Something “clicked” that I struggled with in the past, doing similar haircuts. My hair was in desperate need of reshaping, I have very curly hair & this type of cut looks amazing with curls/layers. You’re awesome for taking the time to share this and help others. ❤
Wow!! I have watched many tutorials on how to cut your own hair. This is amazing!! You did an incredible job explaining and demonstrating how to do this!! Thank you!❤

Stumbled upon your video a few days ago and decided to finally do my hair yesterday. It was so dry and lifeless and my curls were not curling anymore. It had been a few years since I’ve had my hair done, it was in extreme need. My hair turned out amazing, I don’t think I’ve ever seen my curls with this much volume and the shape is perfect. Thank you so much for sharing, I know this is an older video but it’s saved me so much money and I am so happy with the outcome!! I’ll definitely be doing my own hair from more on x
I waited to thank you, I did hair cut and messed up the front a little bit because I have very thin and fine hair, my front was a lot shorter than back my fault but it still came out nice, my hair normally always looks thin, because I used to cut it straight and all together with no layers to make it look thick, but it did the opposite, after doing this hair cut my hair looks amazing, air dried or done, looks amazing and full, very lively, thank you so much, I have curly hair and I have never had a better haircut than this, keep going I really really appreciate it and made my self-esteem better than before.
U just helped me SO MUCH...was able to fix what I did trying to follow a different tutorial...the extra details about cutting back- direction, tension- excellent & TY.
Probably the best haircut I’ve given myself and the one I’ve been really satisfied with. It didn’t turn out perfect cus I didn’t realize I was not flexible lol so my angles were a bit off but it still turned out well! I’ve been cutting my own hair for the last couple years and most of them have been ones where I just tie my hair in certain ponytails and hope for the best so I’m very happy about this outcome. I started from scratch too so I watched all three videos to trim, layer, and frame my hair around my face and now I’m obsessed! Thank you for the very detailed tutorials! ❤️
I cut my hair like this and the bangs video you have. It turned out really pretty because I followed your tips on fine hair, I always used to have the problem that you mentioned, I used to cut too much hair and it looked really weird. Hi, and thank you for sharing with us your techniques. I can't find the other two videos referenced. What are their titles? Thank you, and have a beautiful day!
This was very helpful. I’ve been cutting my own hair for years - even before COVID :) - but have gotten lazy, resorting to just trimming the ends. Because I have thick hair like yours, paired with a heap of curls at the top & back and wavier curls throughout, I haven’t found a layering tutorial that really works for my hair; I wasn’t getting as much movement or removing enough weight to let my hair fall loosely around my face/shoulders. This did the trick. Also, FWIW, it was helpful to see you doing it a) yourself and b) in a bathroom. Yes, the lighting could have been better and it would be awesome to have multi-angle camera footage showing exactly what you’re talking about, but the reality is that most viewers will be facing the challenges illustrated in your video. Are the studio videos appealing and engaging? Absolutely. Do they illustrate conditions as accurately as this one? Not necessarily. 😊 … as you develop your video skills and resources, it would be helpful to add in some zoom shots (ex showing the guide locks vs the to-be-cut section, etc), but I really appreciate the authentic environment. I could also relate to your authentic disappointment when you thought the first 3/4 of your video had been lost! 😣 I’m glad it wasn’t! *I don’t think I’ve ever written such a long comment on YT! 😄
I managed to cut the back of my hair for the first time. Took care to take vertical sections so layers formed. My hair is only shoulder length though, so flicks out a bit resting on shoulders. Will try let it grow a bit longer.
@@umaimasiddiqui7376 I saw you said you have thin hair so would need different techniques. Hey Rachel, i have a question at 12:15 you said you cut the hair with small little point cut, not straight across, does that mean you cut the whole thing while point cutting or you just point cutting like you are trying to thinning it? It’s a little bit unclear for me, hope you answer, thanks in advance

I understand what you’re doing with the top layer when you pull above your head, but what guide are you following once you round the layers out? I can’t understand that part I’m not sure where I should cut
Thank you! I think it would look amazinggg, layers always look so beautiful on curly hair! My advice would be to go to a professional because is easy to accidentally go too short with curly hair, especially if its a wet cut x
@@Rachelmckeown thank you so much! I’ve been looking for a curly cut that looks good straight too and I think this might be it. And thanks for the advice! I’ll definitely go to a pro, no chance I could do this on my own, although you make it seem easy haha Keep on the good work, love your vids!
When you say, don't do the second step if you have fine hair, did you mean thin hair? Because I have thick, fine hair ( a lot of hair, but thin hair strands) so I'm wondering if I should do the second step as well?
What are your thoughts on the butterfly cut? Kind of reminds me of your technique for the back layers, do you think it would be helpful to put the “pizza slices” into ponytails at the apex of the head?
In my opinion the butterfly cut is so uglyy😭 u should do this one because nahhh the butterfly cut looks like some short hair and another hair under it( don't know how to explain). But don't get mad just do it if u want to!! 😭😭
This is a great tutorial, but my haircut didn’t turned out as her did. I hate it now. Obviously, i made a mistake at some point. Also my hair is not as long as her. Although i see a huge amount of positive comments & people whose haircuts went well, I would better recommend you to go to a nice hairdresser. Btw the girl in the video is the hairdresser herself, no wonder it turned out so good. So you can try it at your own risk & I wish you good luck. But I definitely need to fix my hair now.
Hii There, amazing tutorial, I would just like to find out do I begin with the hair at the back and then blend it to the front or Should I do the front layered tutorial first and then the back ? I'm just unsure on how to connect the front to the back / the back to the front. Thank tou 😁
I have done the front layers number of times and they come out well. I am scared of the back looking shaggy towards the end. yours dont look so. How long does it take an amateur to do this cut?
I keep loosing my "guide" when trying to cut the layers in the back. I tried taking smaller sections of hair, but I still loose the guide. Do you have any recommendation? Or can you maybe make a video where it shows more zoomed in on how to exactly see the guide? Best wishes Mira
hi guys, lately I've been wanting this haircut so badly but my hair is quite fine and I'm not sure if I would loose more density.Would you recommend this haircut? :((
For finer hair I’d recommend just getting surface layers, so you see how I cut each section 3 times pulling the hair out at different angles: ⬆️,↖️and ⬅️?That removes a lot of hair and will make your ends look drastically thinner If you just stick to the first angle ⬆️that will give you a much finer surface layers and keep the thickness at the ends, did that make any sense?😂
I get a little confused on the guide. Is it visible? What if you accidentally cut into the guide? Can’t I just do the same process all over the hair instead of adding in the guide every time? The haircut looks so beautiful but I want to understand before I do anything.
I cut my hair like this and I never had so many compliments. Even a person came up to me asking if they could take a picture of my hair and show it to their hairdresser. Well done

I’ll definitely go to a pro, no chance I could do this on my own, although you make it seem easy haha
Keep on the good work, love your vids!
When you say, don't do the second step if you have fine hair, did you mean thin hair? Because I have thick, fine hair ( a lot of hair, but thin hair strands) so I'm wondering if I should do the second step as well?
Great video, haven't tried it yet but looks amazing, thank you for the detail! :)
Hi! Can you please share a link to how to cut the hair by your face? For pt two of this vid? Thanks!
Wonderful haircut way to go I adore it
Thank you 💕🥰
This is a great tutorial, but my haircut didn’t turned out as her did.
Thank tou 😁
This was tremendously helpful. 😊
Good I’m glad! 🥰
I have done the front layers number of times and they come out well. I am scared of the back looking shaggy towards the end. yours dont look so. How long does it take an amateur to do this cut?
I have curly hair and I'm hoping to ask you about would this cut work out for me.?😊
Can you please link the three videos. I can’t tell which goes with which. Thank you.
I keep loosing my "guide" when trying to cut the layers in the back. I tried taking smaller sections of hair, but I still loose the guide. Do you have any recommendation? Or can you maybe make a video where it shows more zoomed in on how to exactly see the guide? Best wishes Mira
When you pull the hair upp do you cut it straight or little bit like angle?
This is how I wanted my hair cut but my hairdresser gave me a box cut 🙄🥴… now I’m waiting for my bangs to grow out so I can cut it myself!
hi guys, lately I've been wanting this haircut so badly but my hair is quite fine and I'm not sure if I would loose more density.Would you recommend this haircut? :((
For finer hair I’d recommend just getting surface layers, so you see how I cut each section 3 times pulling the hair out at different angles: ⬆️,↖️and ⬅️?That removes a lot of hair and will make your ends look drastically thinner
If you just stick to the first angle ⬆️that will give you a much finer surface layers and keep the thickness at the ends, did that make any sense?😂
@@Rachelmckeown thank u so much❤️
Does it work if you permed your hair straight few month ago? Also if i have side part hair?
Well I don't get your explanation and techniques as well however perfect hair you have ❤❤❤❤
What type of scissors do you buy? Anyone!
will this haircut be good on curly wavy hair?
Thanks for sharing. Could you please make a video on how you blow dry your layers?
I want to do this so bad but I’m scared of how it’ll alter how my hair lays when I have it in its natural curly state again
Can you please link the first video that you're referring to? I can't seem to find it in your videos list.
It’s in her videos called “How to cut your own hair! DIY Layered 90s haircut tutorial” and in “HOW TO CUT VOLUMINOUS LAYERS INTO YOUR OWN HAIR!” 😊
I get a little confused on the guide. Is it visible? What if you accidentally cut into the guide? Can’t I just do the same process all over the hair instead of adding in the guide every time? The haircut looks so beautiful but I want to understand before I do anything.
It’s so beautiful I love it❤
Thank you! :)
Bruh when i was about like - 13! I did this andddd ye ITS Beauty
Can i try this haircut on my long hair?please reply...
That's quite difficult. You have to be very skilful. You're excellent at it. I'm far too clumsy.
Can this be done on very long hair down to the waist?
This (these) color(s)! Wow! How?
Thank You❣️
