Its disappointing that Oltura cannot be fought again, like he has an awesome design and his ecology is crazy. I had a lot of fun fighting him and hoping that there will be an armor/weapon set, but no, there's no special drops/rewards of anything. On the other hand, it's kind of understandable that Oltura is the main final villain and is no ordinary monster that can be found and fought frequently, so it does make sense that he can only be defeated once. However, an armor/weapon set would be absolutely rewarding, possibly the strongest in the game. Oh well, it is what it is.
@@mysterygamers3603 Do you have any proof? I haven’t heard a thing about any expansion content for Stories 2, let alone two expansions. I’m just genuinely curious if you do.
Altura could have had a xeno/safi story in stories where the newborn looked liked that, then it grows and controls new tentacles. The old tentacles could have been explained as altura produce the red light when they die and the tentacles become vessels to gather new energy for a new altura to be born, ensure the species survives without the need for a mate. It’s a stretch but still would be pretty neat biology.
One thing that made me a bit surprised in Oltura: "...If that's a larval state, I am afraid to think how big the actual thing is!" *It's only a bit bigger than Kushala.* Me: "...Well that was anticlimac-" *Gets nuked.*
Also, glad I made an extra save file right before my final fight with it so I can keep fighting it over and over again whenever I want. Playing FF7 and KH2 taught me to save a separate save file for fun and hard boss battles.

Almighty elder dragons shrouded in ancient myth have become the fire/fighting-types of Monster Hunter. Not necessarily bad, often memorable, and yet swiftly dampening the allure and sparking a craving for something different.
This is also the second time a dragon did a metamorphosis into/from "basically a moth or catterpillar" What would be cool are more insect elders. EVERYTHING IS DRAGON.
Agreed, I kinda hope the next game will feature some unique concepts for its new big bad, like maybe one that’s in a duo, trio, or even a quartet, possibly even one of the dragons from the tale of the five since we already have three
@@marcusgo1160 And Kirin is an Elder Dragon yet looks like a Unicorn. Nakarkos is an Elder Dragon yet looks like a cephalopod. Yama Tsukami looks like an Elder Dragon yet looks like a weird balloon-pseudo-octopus hybrid with *human teeth.* An Insect Elder Dragon honestly wouldnt be that impossible.
Another big problem, which I don’t think anyone has talked about yet, is Razewing Ratha. Wasted potential for a new variant, a dark monster with black wings and purple fire turns put to be a normal rathalos with fancy wing drawings who just glows a bit in his slightly different kinship attack. They could have given him Mega Pokémon-like properties or it could have transformed after a kinship attack but instead it just randomly spreads his wings and it becomes a normal boring rathalos.
It's amazing to me how the MH series gets us so attached to monsters, essentially the antagonists of the series (stories has some exceptions). I agree that bosses should be able to be revisited as event quests, including gear and all sorts.
TBH, I was really excited that Red would somehow be riding Oltura, as the line "Your just going to be born", and the fact he was a rider, who fell in front of a baby monster. I would have LOVED that.
I've always liked to imagined Oltura's species is split into two parts. The tentacle monsters are the Polyp of the species. It gathers energy from the Earth and other monsters to produce Medusa versions of the species, with the Elder dragon Oltura being one. With the ED Oltura being able to move freely and do whatever it wishes, while the tentacles are more landlocked. Perhaps the adult (ED) version of Oltura is what flies off to other lands to lay eggs that could form more tentacle monsters. Its like some sort of crazy jacked jellyfish or something. Cus if Safi can evolve similarly to a cricket, then having a dragon based off a different animal isn't too farfetched. Idk I just like Oltura's wacky design
Someone has probably said this already but, Oltura's worm form might be kinda like a dragon-ish larval form if we’re comparing Oltura to a moth then there would be a larva of some sort, The only problem being Oltura is an elder dragon so the solution might be I suppose in this instance to make some sorta scaled caterpillar and being an elder dragon and also a pretty powerful one if the legends are true (Which I mean all 5 elements lots of AOEs and nuking you so yeah, At least Safi'jiiva-ish level from the nukes alone, And with the Elders Lair being like the Guiding Lands in a way but on a smaller scale.) it needs large amounts of bio energy to achieve metamorphosis which of course explains a lot of what happens in MHS2 with Rage Rays just being some kinda tools for collecting bio energy kinda like the Frenzy Virus, Of course there’s probably some kinda hole in this theory I’m not thinking about but food for thought ya know. 🙂
Well its a moth thus is grew from a worm. The worm part was the baby form as most caterpillars are much larger then the butterfly, so a massive worm would technically become a big moth dragon
Those tentacles would made an awesome battle in mainline MH especially in rise you could have different levels (depending on in progression) of monster come and fight it with you, like in the all mother fight, then build up to Altura over the story
In addition to the Oltura disappointment, I was also upset by the fact that Razewing Ratha has no unique features to make him different from any other rathalos, despite the cool things we see him do in the story
The Rathalos in Stories 1 at least got an scarred eye at one point to difference it from other Rathalos, why couldn't this one at least kept some Feathers from its previous "wings"
They could do a sort of flashback or retelling of the event and you actually get to fight it with either the same mechanics as the first encounter or with different mechanics and you get materials out of it. I'd say its similar to Final Fantasy 14 where all the higher difficulty fights and raids are literally just imaginative retellings, its not canon but you still get to fight them and get drops. I personally would've loved to see Oltura's armor and weapons
Oltura does have a reference to the tentacles in its moth form. Right under its third wing down, on each side, there are two tendrils that resemble (at least to me) the tentacles. It could be a coincidence, but I interpreted it as a bit of remaining essence from its previous form.
In regards to the tentacle thing, in concept art it seems that the tentacles are the unformed wings of oltura, they kindoff just sprout out of its back and act as extended mouths to feed while the main body sits deep below in safety
My head canon for Oltura is that the Multi-Tentacle Monster is actual Oltrua's "Mother" with the species having a Reverse Butterfly life cycle: Born as the Butterfly only to metamorphosis into the Caterpillar
this would make way more sense to me than the way the story seemed to be spinning it, that the tentacle form is a larval form of the Oltura we finally see at the end.
One of the things I hoped for in the story is that the final (or at least penultimate) area of the game would be the inside of oltura’s pits: a sprawling tunnel system with a giant “core” area where the main body of the worms resided
I will say that the point of the oltura 'caterpillars' is to be overwhelmingly huge & too big to take on the metamorphosis into the smaller 'butterfly' is the only way a kid on a baby rathalos could beat that thing in any sense
Aw man, I was expecting at least some mention about the wasted *_story_* potential around Oltura. You know, the monster so powerful that it simply existing threatens all of existence, so therefore it has to die, but the only thing it ever wanted was to live, which is exactly the same situation as Razewing Ratha in that people concluded that it had to die or the whole world was fucked. And you chose to protect it anyway? You know how Kyle said "Snap out of it. You would rather save one monster over the whole world?" And here you're thrust into the same situation. Except the protagonists chosen the opposite? I dunno. Feels kinda jarring. Would've been nice to have found a way for Oltura to live. At least we got a cool fight out of it I guess.
Alright let me ask this question, the first time Eda's pendants (Later revealed to be arrowheads) were glowing, did anyone else think for a moment that were were going to turn Oltura into a monstie for us to befriend instead of kill? Like all it wanted was to be born and we were supposed to bond with it to tame its power?
I mostly went why and how cause why dose she have them how are they magic and why and how do they link to this creature it feels kinda shoehorned in to make her seem like an important character
Not from the amulet perhaps, but from the themes the game had been using all the way up until that point, yeah. For most of the game we were operating under the assumption that Ratha was a doomsday device held back only by love, trust and affection, so what's to say Oltura can't be the same, right? I'm disappointed that our MC didn't even _try_ to use the kinship stone as Oltura emerged. Have it fail, fine, but at least try, dammit!
I can imagine that; Ena does something similar to what she did with Zellard, stopping us from fighting, and calms Oltura down. Eventually, she becomes its rider, and they fly off to a distant, unpopulated island, where any effects Oltura causes on the surrounding world are mitigated. In the credits, you see her visiting others, people visiting her and Oltura on the island, and them making peace with the destruction caused by it. Maybe even a shot of Razewing Ratha and Oltura playing together.
@Tengila has there been a case of a rider taming an already born monster? Because if i am not wrong, the answer is no. Also, the arrow head isn't a kinship stone.
Oltura is easily in my top 5 favorite monsters, and it's a shame we'll likely never see the best Black Dragon again. Well, not technically considered a Black Dragon as it has no title, but LOOK AT IT it could easily go toe-to-toe with Fatalis and Alatreon. I do wonder what its title WOULD be, though. I'm torn between The Evolving Black Dragon and The Raging Black Dragon.
What about the Raged Ray Black Dragon? Maybe the Six-Winged Devourer? Idk but yeah Versa/Makili are my favourite Monsters since Stories 1 has alot of Connection with me and even then I was fuming to Not be able to Ride it, since the only elder dragon we westerns got was the one who looked the least Like a god damn Dragon! Atleast give me my kushala :(
My theory is seeing that her final form is a moth dragon maybe her based form was that of a worm like creature that fed on other monsters to evolve. That light probably attracted monsters to it like that herd of rathalos so she could feed and change.
Like you said about Oltura being a moth, this could be like a humongous, threeheaded caterpillar. Then it evolves into Oltura's first phase of the fight, being the pupae. Once it has reached towards it's Dragon State, it will then being the a fully grown adult Oltura.
Cotton, I think your very confused about this worm since. It. Literally. **IS** Oultura because just like Xeno, this form is probably it's baby form and the moth form is it's fully awakened adult form, just like when Xeno shedded into Safi, just thought I should tell you

my biggest disapointment is, that you have nothing from beating olturra, no Armor, no Weapons, No Egg, god i played the story only in hope of getting an egg of that beautiful monster, but no, nothing.
Before seeing the final form of Oltura, I thought the worm tentacles were going to appendages that would be summoned during the fight and you would have to defeat to weaken Oltura.
I have so many questions about oltura like:how much is big the larva, how can attract the rathalos of the all world if is just one,why only rathalos but not the rathians, how it can control the people mind? I hope that in an probably anime can give some answers
I would say, i hope that as a final DLC for sunbreak, instead of another iteration of fatalis maybe introduce something like oltura or any weird and ultra powerful elder
i think they could have done a multi stage boss fight like versa pietru in stories 1 where you fight it repel it to the ruins where it then absorbed energy from the corrupted kinship ore and transformed into its true form then you fight it defeat it and finish the game
Note: The entire video is nothing more than a rant about how Oltura should have had a tentacle monster fight added in. With a smattering of "why can't we farm stuff from this monster". Ignoring that you can't fight Makili Pietru multiple times or get anything from it in the first game and thus the final story boss monster being a one time thing being the normal... I think this video could have been better if it was actually Rage doing it (because it does not sound like this is Rage in the video), compiling as little lore there is as well as how it actually fought and such instead of this waste of a video
So here are my thoughts: - It's a much exaggerated version of metamorphosis. It's first form exists to feed and feed alone. The rage ray it gives off doesn't just cause monsters to go berserk, it lures them in as prey. As cool as it would have been to be able to fight It's original form, it didn't really bother me so much. Because hey it's still preparing It's cocoon, it's primary focus is to feed. - Due to the world-ending power Oltura is given in the story, it makes sense to not be able to fight it again to farm for materials. HOWEVER, I think a co-op trial would be SWEET. Maybe gold prize being 3 SR tickets. I am hopeful they will add rank 10. It would make sense for Oltura. - Coming back to the 'you can only fight it once so you get nothing', I would have appreciated a "pick 1". There are a few weapons that you can choose from, pick your favorite. IF Oltura comes to multiplayer (I am hopeful as they are still adding content) we would see about crafting materials then. Anyhow I loved Oltura, and the game as a whole. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I need to start this game over again. I originally bought it on PC before I had a Nintendo Switch. I ended up getting a Switch to play MH Rise and getting the game again on Switch but never ended up really starting it I mostly played rise and then other games. I need to beat this game again before Sunbreak.
Yeah the tentacle... mouth arms? What connects them... Or maybe, maybe it is simply the unknown third evolution of Dugtrio. Or I wonder maybe the worms are a seperate entity of sorts to the moth..? I MEAN I fully understand that moth/butterfly are the symbolism for transformation but like. There is some rhyme or reason..! Anyhow, good points you made!
That is the sad truth with a lot of monsters in this series, and the Mass Effect Legendary Edition (Bioware apparently knows of a lot of issues but they don't care or have plans to fix them, they are throwing them at the modding community who are working on some of them for free oh, they had to sign a NDA and that is what apparently got a lot of modders who worked on the Legacy Editions just quit).
Bioware makes great games, but other than their MMO they don't bother give them good post launch technical support: "No, I'm not in charge of the tools we use, so I only saw correspondence as a third wheel, and the BioWare reps stopped appearing in our chats when the project was closed at around July this year. But some of the tool developers still talk to them privately. So I did get to see the shock on their "face" when they realized 3-hit melees were accidentally missing in Legendary Edition Mass Effect 3. A feature that will never be added back at least on consoles. It was clear that the reason he couldn't push to get it fixed is because their QA department only had room to address "critical" bugs, i.e. actual game crashes and other serious problems. Unfortunately an ugly save glitch is still stuck in the PlayStation ports where random plot flags and values are truncated in rare instances of saving. That will never be fixed. The initial correspondence was allegedly by accident, because someone said they worked with modders but we had not heard a word. We contacted them because of that, and they owned up to it by actually collaborating directly after that point. We now have details like all their entire "StoryManager" plot table, which means we know what every single plot flag in the trilogy means, which means we have much more clarity about plot-branching issues and how to fix them, and the ability to create story-driven mods that depend on official choices you make in the core game. But the bottom line is: The reason we are even able to release mods today for Legendary Edition is because the toolset developers worked directly with BioWare to know how the game works under the hood. If BioWare hadn't done that, there wouldn't even be a sprawling mod community for Legendary Edition in 2021."
I dropped a save right before the fight because I was expecting giant super worm fight but still got an enjoyable fight that's wasn't against the teases worm all game.
I agree Oltura itself is a cool monster, but it didn’t have a lot going for it. I kinda wish you got to maybe fight the tentacle worm things to get a small taste of Oltura and then you fight the true Elder Dragon form of it. Also yeah it not having an armor set or weapons is kinda meh although it makes sense that it’s the final boss, although yeah if there were a harder version you could farm it.
It's quite sad because at least with Versa/makili prietru you could fight it as many times you wanted on the tower (on the story door) I would love to fight oltura as many times possible just for the mere nostalgia :c
I feel like if they had a midway fight with the tentacle, then in high rank continue the story to follow with our moth friend in high rank it wouldve helped. They could maybe give you some high rank materials from the worm to tease the crazy equipment like with Fatalis but idk, ramblings of a crazy man I suppose.
I kept my save before the last boss so I can fight him whenever. But it sucks that we get nothing from it. It's such a beautiful monster and would be awesome in a main mh game!
it's been a hot minute since i fought him but don't they explain that the tentacles are basically a cocoon for oltura? i could swear the whole purpose of him gobbling up monsters was to increase his energy pool for when he emerged from the cocoon? that's why him eating old rahlos was the kicker that triggered his transformation. Other than that i agree with the video completely. the first thing i thought when i finished the fight with oltura was "boy do i want to hunt this guy" while knowing we probably never will. oltura armor, even a layered armor, would have been sweet. weapons also would be nice but with no way to fight for more parts to upgrade i'm fine with no weapons. ya overall missed opportunity definitely for all the reasons you said. only one fight, and because the form change is so drastic it doesn't feel like you are fighting the antagonist you've been chasing the whole game it feels so disconnected. oltura is cool definitely, the rage ray is a neat story mechanic but i wish we had more interaction with it. I honestly would have loved a type of "morality choices" system where you could gain power for ratha but he turned that dark black color and disobeyed you more often or something.
I might be a year late but honestly after recently finishing the game, from a lore wise perspective, it makes sense on why there’s no Monstie or optional second fight because it literally brings ruin to the world so not exactly the perfect pet.
I will legitimately ALWAYS be confused as to why the big question mark update at the end of the roadmap was a Fatalis rematch instead of an Oltura rematch and Oltura gear.
Because of the size of the Kraken’s great grandfather my theory is that this titan species may be entirely separate from Oltura. When it first showed up I went “OOH YES! Now THIS is a boss!”
Having no armor or weapons is unforgivable and not being repeatable is also a wtf? Even tho the fight is rough and basically comes down to a damage check that is painfullll. /Being as it’s a moth dragon thing my head cannon is that the worm thing is the “larval stage” and the final fight is the adult phase (even tho the game doesn’t make any explanation for this like you said) honestly it’s a really pretty monster and then whoosh it’s gone (points for looking like Mothra with the wings tho we can all appreciate that)
Oltura would be perfect for Rise; and could quite possibly be an end game monster for the next gen rendition of Monster Hunter when it is finally released.
For me personally it feels like oltura needs some kind of reboot in one of the action games. I mean not really in sunbreak, i think that train is off (I still hope it though) but maybe in the sixth gen of mh
I always imagined the tentacles were part of some either giant (and I mean dalamadur/zorah size) cocoon or just a mobile cocoon that become the butterfly like thing Oltura is. And it has defense tentacles cause why not
Honestly I like both forms of Oltura but was much more excited to fight basically a hydra cus we don't have anything like that currently like big dragon is cool but we have a few dozen kinds of that and besides the tentacle form presents the most gruesome and ominous moments in the game compared to the dragon form that just flys away peacefully and we chase it and kill it just doesn't feel right
Now i don't think it would happen but Oltura sorta fits the design aspect of Sunbreak only a little bit so in theory they could throw it as even the secret elder dragon at the end of the story i mean you always fight the flagship and then some secret elder dragon nobody knew about till the end since forever. Rise and Stories 2 WHERE advertise as having some sort of a crossover but all we got was leyered armors and dogos being in stories as far as i know it felt underwhelming for how much it got advertised. So what if Oltura was planned to be the secret elder dragon in Rise but got pushed to the next expansion due to it not quite fitting the ascetic of the game. Again i don't think so but i felt it be fun to discuss it idk.
MHS2 is pretty pokemon like, and one thing that really ticked me off in pokemon is, that all legendaries can be caught like every other little pokemon too. At the beginning this wasnt such a big deal, because it was mostly like crazy elemental birds. But since gen 3 and 4 you, a teenager, get to catch gods in tiny plastic balls. In Monster Hunter, stories and the main games i ask myself frequently how frickin big this world must be, that you can farm elder dragons this frequently. You kill them and five seconds later there is a new one ready to be slaughtered. From a gameplay standpoint a must. But the immersion suffers, when those big calamities that change weather and climate, summon zombie monster invasions, or wreck whole cities become a daylie routine. Oltura, and the boss from MHS1 are the climax of the story. They are the one big threat that stands between you and a pieceful world and after you beat them its over for good. Having a quest in the game, that lets you repeat the fight the impression of those monsters gets watered down. That said: I too was disappointed, when i saw, that there is no oltura armor set, or weapons. And I thought es first, that at the end of elders lair you can fight it again. But no... instead you get that black dragon everybody loves for some reason.
The worm could be the “Larva”, while the elder dragon is the metamorphosed “Moth”. Larva have to constantly eat, right? Before going into the Coccon stage? Makes sense then why the Worm thing just kept eating. Likewise…For all we know there could have been more “Larva” laying dormant.
Are we sure that the Tentacles and oltura are the same Monster and not just a transporter for energy? I mean it would make sense that they vansish after delivering all the Energy to Oltura

Me: Hey Capcom, can we get like a quest to fight Oltura and able to gather materials for armor and weapons?
Capcom: *HARD MODE FATALIS IT IS!!!!!*
I mean fatalis previously cannot be farmed. And unrelated note, stories 2 is gonna get 2 expansions in 2022
@@mysterygamers3603 Do you have any proof? I haven’t heard a thing about any expansion content for Stories 2, let alone two expansions. I’m just genuinely curious if you do.
I just hope it's free dlc.
"When in doubt, just drop Fatalis in your game." -CAPCOM CEO or something
Altura could have had a xeno/safi story in stories where the newborn looked liked that, then it grows and controls new tentacles. The old tentacles could have been explained as altura produce the red light when they die and the tentacles become vessels to gather new energy for a new altura to be born, ensure the species survives without the need for a mate. It’s a stretch but still would be pretty neat biology.
Oltura is more like a caterpillar to butterfly interaction
Xeno was more like a moth than oltura, who's reminiscent of a butterfly
One thing that made me a bit surprised in Oltura: "...If that's a larval state, I am afraid to think how big the actual thing is!"
*It's only a bit bigger than Kushala.*
Me: "...Well that was anticlimac-" *Gets nuked.*
Moths are usually smaller than the caterpillars they come from.
@@johncronk8867 Yeaaaah... Though seeing how gigantic the larva(?) was, size difference here is quite something.
...And it had... 3 Heads?
@@duskbringer4583 It didn't. During the cutscene where the 3 tentacles eat Guardian Ratha you can see they're 3 seperate entities
Also, glad I made an extra save file right before my final fight with it so I can keep fighting it over and over again whenever I want. Playing FF7 and KH2 taught me to save a separate save file for fun and hard boss battles.
I did the same. A life time of RPGs thought me that lesson. Sucks for people who didn't though.
"I'm not upset, I'm just disappointed."

Ratha might just get another form in one of the 2 expansions.
Oltura is better than xeno, fight me.

@@marcusgo1160 Theres No Fight needed, oltura is a lämp brother
The only reason we don't get an armor set for Oltura is that our final attack completely evaporated the body so we can't get it's materials.
Kyles "Deus Ex Machina" from Ena stealing our MC's glory
@@sanguinetales
Kyle didn't steal anything, though? The player and Ratha still got the final blow, Kyle was just the one to make Oltura vulnerable sense he was the only one present who could (given that our character is never portrayed with a weapon in cutscenes). It was all about teamwork.
Kudos to Kyle for allowing me to beat Oltura on the first try, though. That last second Rapid Shot crit really saved the run.
@@97dusk Yeah but i think it was stupid having kyle do it cause it was given to us and ena. Making a magical artifact only one person can use is usually bad storytelling, what if Kyle died in the fight what would have happened.

The tentacle things are meant to be a larval stage of the dragon we fight. Think of oltura as a butterfly or a moth dragon
The fact there's an icon for the worm form in the files implies it was supposed to be fought at some point.
I recall it's possible to even hack the tentacle form into the overworld, though it doesn't function properly. It really seems like there was a lot the developers wanted to do with this game that they just couldn't for one reason or another.

Almighty elder dragons shrouded in ancient myth have become the fire/fighting-types of Monster Hunter. Not necessarily bad, often memorable, and yet swiftly dampening the allure and sparking a craving for something different.
This is also the second time a dragon did a metamorphosis into/from "basically a moth or catterpillar"
What would be cool are more insect elders. EVERYTHING IS DRAGON.
Agreed, I kinda hope the next game will feature some unique concepts for its new big bad, like maybe one that’s in a duo, trio, or even a quartet, possibly even one of the dragons from the tale of the five since we already have three
@@chimerakait There are no insect elders because the group is elder dragon. Just say more neopterons.

I saw fanart of the tentacle/worms being attached to Oltura's incubating cocoon, and that makes too much sense
Or just caterpillar -> moth.
Why? Oltura is awesome you uncultered bullfango
The Rathalos in Stories 1 at least got an scarred eye at one point to difference it from other Rathalos, why couldn't this one at least kept some Feathers from its previous "wings"
Technically the only visual difference I've found is his wing pattern, but beyond that, seems standard
Is oltura a cool elder?
Oltura is like the pietru’s they both final boss monsters that don’t have equipment.
And the sad part is if they were to put in a stories 2 exclusive in rise it wouldn’t be oltura, it’d be razewing ratha
Zone would be proud of that intro.
Bro this stuff gets me through the day keep it up 👍❤️
One of the things I hoped for in the story is that the final (or at least penultimate) area of the game would be the inside of oltura’s pits: a sprawling tunnel system with a giant “core” area where the main body of the worms resided
I will say that the point of the oltura 'caterpillars' is to be overwhelmingly huge & too big to take on
the metamorphosis into the smaller 'butterfly' is the only way a kid on a baby rathalos could beat that thing in any sense
Cool tip: create a specific save file just to fight the cool fights...like I did.
I mostly went
why and how
cause
why dose she have them
how are they magic
and why and how do they link to this creature
it feels kinda shoehorned in to make her seem like an important character
Atleast give me my kushala :(
I think it's fine. It's the narrative climax, not necessarily something to just repeat in an action game with a gameplay grind loop.
The same problems apply to Makili pietru, it's fought once, never seen or heard about again afterwards, and almost no information on it
I always thought it was like a caterpillar. It has a main cocoon thing with muscles and stuff that is connected to the brain of oltura.
My real question to this monster is why Rathalos?
Cotton, I think your very confused about this worm since. It. Literally. **IS** Oultura because just like Xeno, this form is probably it's baby form and the moth form is it's fully awakened adult form, just like when Xeno shedded into Safi, just thought I should tell you
HUGE FUN FACT:
All monsters in the game were going to be rideable, but time constraints ruined the gig for some monsters. Daimyo Hermitaur and Agnaktor ARE RIDEABLE but not obtainable, messing with the code lets you actually use them and they even have saddle placement and animations. my biggest disapointment is, that you have nothing from beating olturra, no Armor, no Weapons, No Egg, god i played the story only in hope of getting an egg of that beautiful monster, but no, nothing.
So like Pietru from the first game?
Plot Twist: There are 3 Oltura and each head was separate larva.
Gosh that would be a hilarious plot twist
Tbh I was hoping the hard Co op quest would be Oltura (this was before I knew it was Fatalis)
Before seeing the final form of Oltura, I thought the worm tentacles were going to appendages that would be summoned during the fight and you would have to defeat to weaken Oltura.
Makili and Versa Pietru where also like this, as someone who has played the first storis game I don't have many problems with it.
I have so many questions about oltura like:how much is big the larva, how can attract the rathalos of the all world if is just one,why only rathalos but not the rathians, how it can control the people mind?
I hope that in an probably anime can give some answers
I thought it was a sub species of dalamadur when I first saw it I was excited but it evolve to a beautiful moth still happy though
Anyone else noticing the trend of elder dragons having a larvae / cocoon stage where they feed on life force before becoming a real dragon?
So here are my thoughts:
- It's a much exaggerated version of metamorphosis.
I wanna see a turf war with those tentakels and dalamadur
If the tentacles are the juvenile form of the final boss
Then it kinda gives tremors vibes
With a huge worm maturing into a smaller creature
Giant worm state is Larva form then it turns to Moth pretty self explanatory if you ask me
I need to start this game over again.
Yes even in Gijan Hunter was wish that They could fight Oltura For Armor and Weapons and even Yunna Made Fan Art for a Armor Set Idea.
Bioware makes great games, but other than their MMO they don't bother give them good post launch technical support:
"No, I'm not in charge of the tools we use, so I only saw correspondence as a third wheel, and the BioWare reps stopped appearing in our chats when the project was closed at around July this year.
I really wish capcom could make oltura in another monster hunter game, yea the fight would be even more epic
The main possibility I see for Oltura is Monster Hunter Frontier, which is known for absolutely bonkers strong/powerful/flashy monsters.
Honestly was hoping that the final free dlc was going to have a quest to fight him again and again for his gear.
I will legitimately ALWAYS be confused as to why the big question mark update at the end of the roadmap was a Fatalis rematch instead of an Oltura rematch and Oltura gear.
As cool as Oltura actually look, if it stayed in tentacles form, I'm pretty sure we would have no way to beat it.
Wasn't it weaker in that form?
Maybe the 'tentacle ' oltura is more like a worm or pupa oltura and then it just metamorphosis into its beautiful moth..butterfly dragon form??
Because of the size of the Kraken’s great grandfather my theory is that this titan species may be entirely separate from Oltura. When it first showed up I went “OOH YES! Now THIS is a boss!”
I beat this cool boss yesterday and I was disappointed that I did not get any armor or an egg from it that a waste of a cool monster.
And it has defense tentacles cause why not
I would say that this is the gigi paradox- tentacultura is a larval form
Honestly I like both forms of Oltura but was much more excited to fight basically a hydra cus we don't have anything like that currently like big dragon is cool but we have a few dozen kinds of that and besides the tentacle form presents the most gruesome and ominous moments in the game compared to the dragon form that just flys away peacefully and we chase it and kill it just doesn't feel right
Honestly did think that the tentacle was just the larval form of Oltura but then there were three of them...
Just imagine oltura as a monstie that would be so ridiculous
they could have done Oltura Major(boss) and Olura Minor(monstie) Like the constellation Ursa
I think the tenticuls to olture is like a caturpiler to butterfly or moth
Caterpillar to moth. Relatively wormy shape, vicious appetite turns into flying thing.
I showed my friend this guy yesterday and his words where "that's so awesome I wana hunt it" and i started laughting. I wana a buddy one
The worm could be the “Larva”, while the elder dragon is the metamorphosed “Moth”. Larva have to constantly eat, right? Before going into the Coccon stage? Makes sense then why the Worm thing just kept eating.
Likewise…For all we know there could have been more “Larva” laying dormant.
the tentacles make me think of MH4U with the giant snake (Shah Dalamadur)
Are we sure that the Tentacles and oltura are the same Monster and not just a transporter for energy? I mean it would make sense that they vansish after delivering all the Energy to Oltura
Who wouldn't like to see Oltura going up against Alatreon? It would be so cool to see them fight.
Hopefully we can fight it in a main game where we can get more info on it
