I only found out about the layered armor dude when doing the elder dragon quest line. It was when I passed him to turn in the 4* quest and saw his speech bubble.
Some monster also can enter their super mode when using the attack up music in the hunting horn. As of now I have seen Nergigante (he get fully grown black spikes) and Mizutsune (his fins turns red)
I grabbed Icy Armor off a Zamtrios and stuck it onto a Barioth. I didn't notice any change at first, but Bari's eyes turned from blue to red! Not the most amazing effect, but it's a pretty neat detail
Non elemental buffs like Merciless roar gives all nargacuga red eyes, as well as red veins for all tigrex. It also gives bloodbath diablos it’s rage steam effect and mizutsune’s weird dorsal fins. High voltage also gives an effect on Kirin’s mane, as well as Astalos’s wings and head. Fireclad coats Teostra in flames, as well as blazes glavenus’s tail. Iceclad gives Gammoth it’s snow coating on legs and trunk. These effects will most likely apply to the upcoming deviants and variations.
For expeditions you can skip the time. Simply go into system and be OFFLINE. Then change time ahead by 20 min etc. Then you will see it is complete. Strange but it works
Nergigante can gain his spiky form by using a all elemental buff like cheer for the rest of the fight I don’t know if it works with monsters buffs like pump up though
On this super mode thing: I haven't done a whole lot of testing, but I can say that Nergigante will gain his black spikes and Bloodbath Diablos will gain its blood red veins exposing themselves through ANY BUFF. Immunizer, cheer, awakening, anything. Simply buffing them will trigger the transformation for the duration of the buff. It doesn't do anything, it simply just seems to be a visual representation that X monster has been buffed. I can only assume it is the same for other monsters, though I'm only building those two currently and haven't tried many of the others.
I have been gorging myself on nutriments since the start. Until I settle on a direct team, the monsties are ephemeral, fleeting... And they all get cute names until they eventually become fodder for their replacements.

@@bossnass9319 www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunterStories/comments/oq5gtx/ive_tested_every_potential_aesthetic_change_from/ Hopefully youtube doesn't butcher the link
There's a lot of monsters that you can get to enter their super mode, a few examples off the top of my head are Bloodbath's superheated state, Nergi's spikes, Astalos being fully charged, and Narga and Tigrex looking visually enraged
Zinorge is one that obviously has his super mode, Tobi-Kadachi is another, Zamtrios has his ice armor. Barroth and Jade Barroth have their mud and snow armor. It’s all the same concept I suppose. Edit: Also for the creatures that have these abilities, remember to channel level them up to increase how long the effect lasts! For example Zinorge’s lightning charge mode lasts 3 turns but the ability last 4 turns when leveled up once and 5 turns when leveled up twice. Genes can only be leveled twice to a two star rank but it’s a good idea to do this on the monsters that you really love or use a lot.
Major tip for anyone using non elemental monsties like bloodbath and Nergi. Using Seregios’ merciless roar (or Bellow Gene L) and putting it on them gives all your allies a moderate buff to ALL elemental attack for 3 turns (5 turns when maxed) and it puts any non elemental monster into its super mode. This applies to all Tigrex, all Nargacuga, bloodbath, Nergi, and I believe Seregios. There may be some more but those I know for sure. Have fun :) (Remember, this is the best elemental attack boost gene that boosts all attack and the best for getting non elemental monstie super modes)
Thunder clad (Thanks thunder lord for ultra voltage) on astalos makes him go green mode, fire clad (thanks pink rathian for valiant flare) on glavenus makes throat glow and sword on fire
While putting the boost gene of deviljho on a bloodbath diablos you can make the bloodbath be in historique very angry and steamy state, which is, like the others, super satisfying-
Nergigante can enter his full spike mode simply by applying a damage increasing skill. You can ebem simply achieve this by using cheer but i also opted to give mine the skills: Sharpen Blades (Nargacuga) and Onslaught Roar (Monoblos) so he has a way to not only go e himself a boost but also my Rider and potential Hunting Buddies.
I know that after you use his kinship attack Anjanath's nose cartilage is up and his flame sack in his throat glows. Also after buffing Nargacuga, don't know if it has to be crit buffs, his eyes start glowing.
@@philman401 Some people might not know what Layered Armor are if new to Monster Hunter, and he gives very bad directlys. Like literally he says 'And if you go to the right', and yet, he is the only NPC in the area, and even with the Map open you have to notice there is a SECOND Smithy across the entire town, and slowly run your way all they way over to him, who is all by himself, before and actually click on him without assuming he's just another armor forging NPC to notice he does Layered armor. Doesn't help that, that town is the only town where they add an extra NPC with Extra effect only. The only other town that chances things is the Cat Shelter which removes the 2 venders, tho that makes sense in context of the story, but Lulucion or whatever is the only town to ADD an extra NPC, not tied to the story, and only 1 small throwaway flaver text from an NPC even hints to his existence. I rarely open the map in town, relying on the minimap, and took visiting the town 4 times, and searching every inch by hand before opening the map and checking and noticing there is a section slightly obscured to the south away from everything else I never needed to go visit and found him down there. And that's from listen to the NPC and actively searching the location for this brother that does Layered armor. Thought it was a throw away line for a few hours before finding them.

I've occasionally had a tigrex get all veiny and redder, kinda like the super mode you explained No idea what causes it, just happens in longer fights I find
it happens when it gets a damage boost to every monster that can rage.Wild tigrex gets veins and red eyes when enraged, and the monstie tigrex gets veins and red eyes when u boost him.
nergigante ever so slightly grows his spikes when he uses sharpen blades, or when you are using charge ahead on hunting horn it makes every monstie activate their powered up mode. also why can nergigante fly during joint kinship but nowhere else
Me and my bf way to avoid a fight is one of us, mostly me, grabs the first egg and steals it then runs decoy for the other when the monster shows up so they can get out.
Astalos has a great Super mode You can give Teostra his with the Valiant Flame from pink and dreadqueen rathian. Stygian zinogre gets his with his dragon version of the same skill, and I believe you can give this to Pickles. I'd love to see a video of all super forms
If I might make a suggestion if you could make a video on how to find the hard to find high rank monsters like the mega barrel feline and the herbivores that would be real helpful to getting a complete monsterpidea

@@Jirodyne Again, that's entirely a you problem. He expressly tells you to go to the other smith, there is another smith, and who gets to a new town and doesn't take a look around? If you are so obsessed with rushing through the story that you literally don't even see what a town has to offer, ignore all dialoge AND the map before rushing past it to the next quest then that is 100% on you and noone else. Stop blaming developers for you playing the game blindfolded.
some of these aer pertty dope xP
i forgot what my bazelgeuse uses but when he uses a boosting move he has on him, he gains the glowing fire effects
First thing also works with a bot, because you can open map, and see where the monster is
I want more of this kind of content...Also thanks for the self nutriment tip
Apparently the sticker menu (-) works for the monster dodging too and you can see the monster yourself.
You can get Nergigante in his super mode as well if you use the Ability Cheer. His spikes will grow bigger and he will make way more damage😍
You can open the map or sticker menu, that way you can see the monster, thats what I do when I go solo in co-op quests.
Didn’t know about the I-frames on pausing but I just found out you get the same effect by bringing up the Navirou stickers, upside of this is you can see for yourself when you can move again
Oml I've been calling nutriments nutrients this whole time, I had no idea 😑
Velkhana with Zamtios' Ice Armor will have its ice armor :)
The effects at the prayer pot does stack now to playery who want eggs with good genes or nuke dmg
For tip 1, you can actually just pull up the stickers menu so you will see where the monster is yourself
Hey thank it was very informative I didn’t know a lot of those things oh and tell Cotton that it was fun playing with him Honestly best partner I could’ve had in a SR den and tell him I say thank you for helping me get dread queen and I hope we can play againAll of you guys are awesome as well and you bring me the brightest day is watching you guys with all your contacts it’s awesome soon as I get the time I’m definitely going to be a patron and pay what I can so see you guys when I can
Bloodbath can go into his glow mode just by you cheering, it’s amazing
#1 all kinship attacks are canon
And I knew about the nergi duo kinship attack
So did I.
I haven't finished the story yet and I had a few nutrients, thanks!
I’ve had the duo attack with double Astalos
Prayer Pot now is a legit thing to use in Stories 2 compared to Stories 1. The fact it gets stronger with more use and of course there also best charm for grinding eggs. Allowing you to find more platinum glow eggs and thus rare genes for best builds
I found out the first trick by my self, I was scared of an elder dragon and pressed x randomly, so first I was thinking that this was a bug, but it wasn´t really helpful
I managed to pull off one of the secret double kinships with a Pink Rathian it was some flying one where they made an orb and shot it
"I don't know who would kick Ena front heir party"
Me who just kicked Ena minutes before opening the video: yeah who would do such a thing....
I believe you get an attack/defense boost from whatever weapon/armor you're wearing if it matches the species of your active monstie in battle. Idk if that's completely true. I just read that online somewhere. Pls correct me if I'm wrong. 😅
Oh by the way: for those of you like me who didn’t know, you can use nutrients on yourself too
I had no idea you could buff yourself with those nutrients
I had no clue what Nutriments did in the first place. I didn't even read them!
I've occasionally had a tigrex get all veiny and redder, kinda like the super mode you explained
No idea what causes it, just happens in longer fights I find
it happens when it gets a damage boost to every monster that can rage.Wild tigrex gets veins and red eyes when enraged, and the monstie tigrex gets veins and red eyes when u boost him.
nergigante ever so slightly grows his spikes when he uses sharpen blades, or when you are using charge ahead on hunting horn it makes every monstie activate their powered up mode. also why can nergigante fly during joint kinship but nowhere else
2 and 3 I didn't know. Thank you!
Thank you Hollow. Many and useful tips
These were all interesting and useful. Thank you.
For the super modes ive seen nergi with spikes before but i never knew how
There needs to be a charm to spawn more super rare dens, I've literally only found one
You’re much better off using expeditions anyway.
I hadn't used mine yet since I wasn't sure if I used 10 of one, if I could still use them on the others.
Me and my bf way to avoid a fight is one of us, mostly me, grabs the first egg and steals it then runs decoy for the other when the monster shows up so they can get out.
Instead of using eggs and menu use the map you can see the monster on the map and it will also work
Astalos has a great Super mode
You can give Teostra his with the Valiant Flame from pink and dreadqueen rathian.
Stygian zinogre gets his with his dragon version of the same skill, and I believe you can give this to Pickles.
I'd love to see a video of all super forms
Who the hell is pickles?
If I might make a suggestion if you could make a video on how to find the hard to find high rank monsters like the mega barrel feline and the herbivores that would be real helpful to getting a complete monsterpidea
Nergigante with pump up makes the spikes grow
Try doing kinship skill with velkana and rathalos
It's awesome
Dude that "same kind genes don't stack" tip really killed a lot of ideas/builds I had in mind, wtf.. thanks though!
Same. Really disappointing, but good to know now rather than later!
I'm at the final boss now and I had no idea what nutrients do I never looked but I always saw i got them
I was terrified I wouldn’t be learning about “trips” in this video.
