Imagine if, some time before the newsgroup gets exposed, you made a bet with Hal telling him to prove he knew "real back-breaking work" by dismantling the riskiest ship with at least 95% salvage.
If he won, you'd do 5 of the riskiest.
If you won, you'd get scrip.

This game not only has a great bit of hard sci-fi...but it's also a fantastic tool to teach how to organize a workplace and to take part in Industrial Action (which is a real tactic in organized labor).

Thanks for posting the gameplay! I love the direction the developers took with the antagonists here. Typically the big bad mega-corp is indifferent to human life in the Sc-fi genre; in other games the middle-manager would've likely shrugged the death off. This game, however, did an excellent job portraying an ass-hat manager royally screwing up and realizing it in the end.

Honestly. When I did this job I immediately used my det charges to shred the ship, which made it such a pain to finish later on.

why cant you just push it all down into the barge with push though?

@@adamromanak7605 because it is not fun? The game clearly wants you to slowly destroy the ship to piss off hal

You're not the only one. I finished it recently and I planted a bomb on the reactor. I Lost a lotta FPS but the resulting explosion was.... GLORIOUS.

as soon as i got in, i made sure everything was pressurized to get the maximum boom, and then i started chucking the charges. i didnt know til this point that the charges had a cap on them. so after i spam a few clicks... i accidently set them off. i start panicing as the ship around me starts blowing up as i was on one-life run for my first playthrough (because im a idiot like that) i... managed to survive. somehow.
and my regret follows further to clean everything up...
till i figured out you just put the parge to your back, aim up at the debris, and force push everything into space.

@@adamromanak7605The barge actually has a maximum amount that can be registered in it. I had so many tiny pieces I hit that number, pent probably half an hour getting all the little scraps floating around, still barely not enough to get it.... Tried grabbing some bigger bits of nanocarbon in the barge, and surprisingly I was able to pull it out and toss it into the furnace.

I beat this game a few days ago. And I used demo charges on the reactor, sliced all electronics with the laser, even shredded the radiation parts.
Beautiful fireworks! Maybe you should've trained your workers, Hal.

Thanks for posting this 👍 I missed parts of the ending sequence - from the point Hal said he had deleted Kaito's backup. After a period of silence and me not knowing what was going on, I was taken back to the HAB. Then got the notice about the incoming call, which I answered, again silence so no idea what was said. Restarting the game did give me the end contract option in the computer but had to look up the ending on UA-cam to see what I missed. Seems to be a common bug from what I found.

I did this a few weeks ago; didn't have time to post it here! Intentionally putting things in the wrong place made me the quickest to EVER decommission a Gecko-class ship! 🤣
After a while I leaned I needed to put "Barge" items into the Processor, otherwise I would get money for "Scrap" which was not ideal given the context. I did briefly consider intentionally cause a reactor breach, but decided it wasn't worth the cleanup... So I just took apart normally, then deciding it belonged in the furnace! 😆
It was the most fun I had in a WHILE - Didn't stop smiling throughout the mission! 😆

    • @DoubleADwarf

Yeah, blowing up the ship is a LOT of picking at tiny pieces one by one or trying to shove them all with a big blast and risking launching yourself into orbit or into the furnace --
--but c'mon. You gotta do it at LEAST once.
I threw a coolant canister or one of those batteries that starts arcing if you knock it against a wall too hard down the hallway to the Reactor Room, and stood back.
I think I even said something aloud like "Hey Hal! Check _this_ shit out!" as it was about to go up.
_Super_ cathartic, just _trashing_ a ship after having struggled for hours to get as perfect a salvage as I could on each assignment. Ended up shoveling a bunch of stuff into the barge too. Including the last of the ship at the end since I couldn't torch or process it.

Well, sad that game didn't make the next step - from union's economic demands - to political. Otherwise? Twenty years in the future and hello, hello, we have the same exploitative financial capitals good as new
