Sorry for taking the video down before. Someone caught a render error that I just couldn't leave in the video. I did a quick tweak last night after my final viewing and it ended up causing an issue with a few clips. Anyway, it's up now! Hopefully, you understand. I want everyone to have the best viewing experience I can possibly provide. Enjoy the video!
I wouldn't worry about it, I know what you mean, kinda funny I once uploaded a video that was black for the last 5 minutes, for some reason the video editor didn't cut the film out it just removed the imagery lol This looks like an interesting build. Nice shrimp.
If I had that in my place, I'd never get anything done. Every time I walked by it, I would zone out staring at it for half an hour and forget what I was doing. Beautiful, love it.
“It’s all about constant improvement and better living conditions” that’s what makes you a good pet owner and animal keeper. It warms my heart to see fire belly toads (my first pet) in such a nice set up esp. when they can be bought for like $9 each at Petco. These toads are so lucky!!
It's like me with birds. I have different breeds of parrots but my little $20.00 budgie is my baby. She's my little bird Queen and I give her as I can as far as cage sides, toys, bowls etc...Feed her the best foods I can make and buy. They are all animals and whether $5.00 or $20,000 they all need love and care the same.
The way you replicate nature is so otherworldly, you're able to get all of the small details right and because of that it's feels like you framed a piece of nature in your house. Keep up the good work!
I love watching Tanner’s videos. He talks you through the build throughly and interestingly: just the right amount of need-to-know and want-to-know. Lots of links to plant, material and critter info. And then we get to see the final, amazing product. There are lots of DIY build videos but these are, by far, the very best.❤
Wonderful design. I've had fire bellies a long time and found they aren't big on water. Water features are great but you'll probably notice they spend little time swimming and rarely dive (usually only if scared). So I ultimately went with primarily soil in the terrarium with plants planted right in. I dug out a hole and put in a salad bowl at one end. It's deep and wide enough they can dive in and swim around but about 80% of the terrarium is land. They like to go hide in places and wander around so I have lots of little cave spots and pieces of wood and various plants. The fire bellies I have now are the offspring of ones I had years ago. When they released eggs into the water I collected them and raised them in a separate aquarium. Some benefits to having a deep soil terrarium is you can drop in various insects, like crickets or worms, etc. and the ones they don't eat right away go off and do their own thing. Crickets will be hanging out for weeks after feeding, and I have a permanent population of worms in there. It's become a full mini-biome. No need to ever clean most of it, waste is naturally cycled into the soil. The bowl just needs to get pulled out, washed off, and then returned.
I like how all the toads had their own personality jumping into the water. One was very hesitant and tried to climb back up, one dived straight in no hesitation, and one had a magnificent belly flop into the water. 19:09
At the point when the frame is finished I just can't see how all those square lines will be ever be concealed. Then you do some sort of magic and in the end it looks amazing. I particularly like your techniques with crushed stone and moss to hide the foam. Also the small rocks sprinkled on the substrate work so well to add perspective and connectivity to the whole design. I thoroughly enjoy every one of your builds. Great stuff !
Absolute perfection in a 40 gallon tank...wow, Tanner...I could seriously sit and watch this scene for hours! I really love the islands you put together, and how they were bridged. It makes me want to do something more inspired for my cornu aspersums, so thank you for the lovely ideas!
At 10:56, where he sprays the fabric with water to make "the glue dry faster", it may seem odd but there's actually some interesting chemistry there. The cyanoacrylate bond is catalyzed by the hydroxyl ion (OH-) of which there are many in water. That's why super-glue bonds skin instantly; your skin always has a bit of moisture on it.
I guess because it's a way to see nature thriving the way it would in the wild in a non-wild environment?? When all goes well and it replicates a natural environment it's very fascinating

Finally had a minute to watch this video! Love the work you did here my friend! Great idea crushing the stone to create the dust/crumbs- I love that! The intricacy of this enclosure is so incredible, I feel like it's one of your best yet and I can't wait to see it grow in! 🌿🐸
As I commented before, you inspired me to start a planted aquarium, a joy-filled project that was possible in the two minute increments I'm able to stand and work on it. Some plants died off, but I hedged my bets by starting with 12 species of plants, mostly poached from my mom's shade garden, and I'm still left with 9 species a month later. Since it's been a month, and the nitrogen cycle had completed, I added a most beautiful betta fish a few days ago! He's become my new best friend. I was shocked with the obvious level of intelligence displayed by him these first few days. He explored thoroughly every tiny change made to his environment, he's as curious as that metaphorical cat lol, and he even uses Java fern leaves as a play slide on occasion! I decided he deserves a little extra enrichment, so I'll be changing things up some every few days. Today was the first I decided to do that, and he's explored every object in the most thorough manner that I moved. I didn't add anything new yet, but I'll be doing that in the future. I just repositioned items (rocks and plants) in the front of the aquarium and he's spent hours now, swimming around and in every object moved. I highly recommend providing enrichment stuffs for bettas now! You might try it for yours. Thank you for inspiring me to embark on this project. Every new stem and root and leaf that since appeared has given me little senses of accomplishment, little moments of joy, and my new little jewel of a friend is just amazing. Thank you
I love fire-bellied toads. My last family gave me a little over 7 years of joy. However, as their started passing of old age, I got a bit depressed. When my last one died, I sort of let my terrarium go. Covid didn't help much either with getting fresh stock, but this video is giving me the push I need to build another even better than before. Thank you for this wonderful video and giving me the motivation to get back into a hobby that brings my life much passion.
Your previous 🔥-bellied toad paludarium was one of my favorite builds but this one is just as good. Lots of great nooks and crannies. I love the paludariums because you get to see a little bit of everything. It’s like a sneaky up close look at what nature is hiding. You showcase it beautifully.
Tanner I just want to commend you for your filming skills and patience. It must take a long time to film all of these shots of your building processes and wonderful art!
I love how I understand most of what you say and I'm nodding along like "yeah okay got it, that's looking so good" and then you'll say something like "I begin by putting in a thin layer of Cycled Planted Tank Substrates from the previous paludarium" and I just sigh and realise I have SO much to learn hahahaha
Tanner, would like to see a video on feeding of all your specimens. Not only to watch them eat, but also so that you could explain what you feed them, and how you keep those items alive until ready to use. Care and maintenance of food items might be a good learning video all on its own.
I love it when it's not about only looking at the fish, toads, shrimp, frogs, or lizards, but rather how much can I spoil my animals and create awesome environments even tho they will hide and just chill out. Love this one alot
Wow, I totally love this setup! There is so much to disciver in all the nooks and crannies. I want to paddle around in a mini kayak. I also like the lighter colors compared to the older setup. Lucky toads!

This new iteration is gorgeous. Tanner gets better and better with all his efforts, and this is no exception. Thanks for the meaningful instruction you provide during your build vidoes, Tanner.

And you showing how you built that overflow waterfall is amazing timing because that is EXACTLY what I've been planning on building for my newly adopted Mountain Horned Dragon, but I was not at all sure how to go about it. So thank you! As always, big love from Scotland :)
I think you are a genius. I love aquariums and zoos, animals in general, water in particular, and plants and nature. Your scapes are the finest I have ever seen; in homes, public aquariums, reptile houses at zoos from San Francisco, San Diego to Baltimore. Thanks for sharing; I love them.
It looks beautiful and much better than the older one, if not just for the better lighting. I definitely think this newer setup is much better for the animals and looks more attractive. Awesome job as always!
I love how some of the spiderwood looks like its roots to some larger tree, and you blend it in with all the live plants, which just makes it look so real. The contrast between the brighter colored wood and stone looks so great with all the deeper green colored plants you chose. Great job!
@@plastic6568 if you have the time just do it. The most expensive part is the filter and light. It might look not at great but you can get the silicone for a few bucks and the foam. And the as long as your local wildlife officer doesn't catch you you can get many of the plants for free!
Tanner, your tank setups make me wish I were one of your animals! They get the best of both worlds: the organic beauty of their natural habitat, and the comfort and care of living domestically. As usual, the setup is gorgeous, the video is informative, and the whole thing is inspiring to anyone who loves animals, nature, sculpture, and DIY. Keep up the amazing work, my dude.
I am rewatching this build for the 4th or 5th time and still amazed at the highest level. It is my favorite build on this channel... We are lucky to have an artist like you ! So does the fire belly toads !
Just found your channel and have been bingewatching content. Even though this video is a year old, and isn't your biggest project, I think it has to be my favorite one I've seen so far. I absolutely love everything from the vison and design to the execution. I especially love how deep the water is, while also having a lot of terrestrial space. Can't imagine a better environment for toads given the size of the tank. I'd love if, considering it's been almost exactly a year, you did a follow-up on this one to show us how it's progressed. Keep up the great work!

I know this video is a few years old but I'm a new viewer making my way through the channel. So far this set up is my favorite. I think the bright lighting is one reason why. I can see all the beautiful plants and animals clearly. I like the set ups with lots of shadows but they are difficult to see everything on my little phone. Thanks for sharing your awesome talent!

Wow! What an excellent tutorial on setting up a habitat for the Fire Belly Toad. Shamelessly, I am going to copy it as much as I can because I am so impressed with its beauty. Thanks, SerpaDesign.
This is amazing! You inspired me to try building tanks for myself and your guidance has made it so much easier. Question: I’ve heard mixed things about housing fire bellied toads with fish and inverts. Yours seem to be thriving though. Do you (or anyone else here) have any advice about housing them together? I assume the fish would have to be cold temp fish (no tropicals) but I’m mainly worried about the frogs’ toxins or something harming the fish.
Bro I am beyond impressed but idk with what more, the fact that you thought of this or the fact that something I’ve never seen before really successfully held that much weight 💯
Everything looks like it’s been growing there for decades! How? You even managed to capture the aspect of nature where there’s constant motion everywhere, but only when you look close.
I really like the planting in this setup: I like that there are a few focal plants with a nice background of others, rather then lots of different focal points. I love the idea of islands too. I learned about paludariums from watching your videos, and I think they interest me even more than aquariums.
Brand new here, I have a 3yo autistic son who loves little animals and waterfalls. We just binged about 5 videos & I have to say I hope you work for zoos or museums or something far better (as I know nothing about your field) but you do amazing things & my little guy is your new fan!!
This set up is much brighter! I do love it! 4 days just shows how much your skills have grown. Keep it up, you're really inspiring others to take care of the wildlife around them!
Congratulations Tanner the new setup came out amazing. I really enjoyed your upgraded processes that streamlined the build making it much quicker and efficient. Makes me want to build something similar! Thanks for sharing.
Everything about your work is incredible. The planning, the designing, the building, the information, the videography & editing... so thoughtful and well-done. I’ve learned so much from your channel!
Love how the toads all have a different way of jumping in the water, with the first one taking their time and being unsure about it, the second one diving in ahead and the third hopping in with a plop.
I got into terrariums before the pandemic randomly. I just had a hankering to keep a garden in a jar. One of my longest living unopened terrariums stayed up for about 1 year. It had some moss, dirt sticks and a tiny jade plant. It also had lots of spring tails in it. Unfortunately I left it out in the sun for a little too long one day and everything got torched. I still haven't broken the seal because the air inside is from before the pandemic :p I really enjoy watching your videos. Thanks and thanks!

I can see all the beautiful plants and animals clearly. I like the set ups with lots of shadows but they are difficult to see everything on my little phone. Thanks for sharing your awesome talent!
Tanner building any setup*
Oak leaf creeping fig: Hold my beer.....
I was so worried it wasn't going to be included! So glad Tanner came through.
@@Amber19890 I wasn't worried. I knew sooner or later he will add it. I am kinda obsessed with it now. Too bad its not available in my country(At least in my knowledge.)
@@zaman8032 not sure which country you're from, but sometimes I see it near the front of those garden shops, where they put all the "bargain" plants that are the same price with no name or label
if not, people on facebook marketplace / other apps might just give you a little piece of theirs for free, and you can grow more from there :)
I love inter-species setups. A whole little ecosystem in your house, so cool.
The toads are literally living in a simulation made by aliens.
I could literally watch this as a 4K stream for hours and hours. I love ecosystems in action. I'm so impressed by your work, thank you!
Nothing is more perfect than seeing no dislikes, only likes.
Hydr Solula 4 people saw this comment and disliked, very sad
@@alexchampion9395 they are heartless monsters.
@@alexchampion9395 Bots.
The dislikes are from the "jealous I can't be these animals" people.
@NihlusGreen they wouldn’t click on the video in the first place
I could stare at vivarium's/paludarium's for hours, no joke. Yours are just amazing. 4 days to make!! thats amazing.
I'm studying in my room right now for 3 hours when I got a notification from Serpa Design
Me: ok it's time to relax
@@cmpc724 thanks dude
Good luck
Really nice to see the foam-gluing of rock and wood elements and the rock dust-filler technique! Can't WAIT to make my own
In between the islands it looks like little rivers😀!
It's amazing how your scape goes from an empty glass box to awesomeness. Your good.
*[Smacks Lips]* "Noice,"
Bro I am beyond impressed but idk with what more, the fact that you thought of this or the fact that something I’ve never seen before really successfully held that much weight 💯
Wow posted 10 seconds ago
everything you do is unbelievable, best tanks i have ever seen, makes all my efforts looks like amateur hour hahahaha
Honestly my favourite thing in the world is to watch this beautiful channel. Thanks for sharing your art and love for animals🌈❤️
Everything looks like it’s been growing there for decades! How? You even managed to capture the aspect of nature where there’s constant motion everywhere, but only when you look close.
It's beautiful and the toads, fish and plants seem extremely happy!! I could watch them all day!! Remind me of home, thank you.
We just binged about 5 videos & I have to say I hope you work for zoos or museums or something far better (as I know nothing about your field) but you do amazing things & my little guy is your new fan!!
zoos and museums would limit him
I believe this is your best setup yet! So beautiful, varied, verdant, it feels so alive!!!
I feel transported watching your beautiful videos. It must feel so satisfying to be the maker of that!
The original firebelly vid has been my fav paludarium build on UA-cam for the past few years. So great to see a new take on it! Looks AMAZING.
This IS incredible! Your workmanship and willingness to take on such intricacy is ... wow
I don't know how all of these are built so perfectly, and the way you describe things feels like poetry.
Tana your work is so inspiring. The level of detail is awesome. Thanks for sharing
Nature is just so beautiful and your details are perfect!
My fiancee and I love your videos, but this build is out of this world! Thanks for sharing the process with us, Tanner!
My friend did one like this-fish and all.
We both enjoyed years of reptile, fish and amphibian tanks. We made happy spoiled critters!😍
In my opinion, this is one of your best efforts. infinitely superior to its predecessor. Thanks for sharing!
Amazing use of the elements and principles of design… great rewatch!!
Natural beauty in a tank just stunning !! Nothing else needs saying .
What a lovely video Tanner, well done! Really nice to see the whole process come together in the end with all the animals in their place.
This set up is much brighter! I do love it! 4 days just shows how much your skills have grown. Keep it up, you're really inspiring others to take care of the wildlife around them!
Simply stunning! The old was great but this is stunning also! Wonderful job! Thank you for making these videos and sharing! Inspiring!
This is probably my favourite paludarium you've done yet. I just love how the toads look while moving around the setup.
Congratulations Tanner the new setup came out amazing. I really enjoyed your upgraded processes that streamlined the build making it much quicker and efficient. Makes me want to build something similar! Thanks for sharing.
The artistry and amount of detail in each piece is astonishing, I love binging all these videos over and over because it's cool to see again and again
Finished product looks so natural, awesome 👏👏 Its given me inspiration.
