You really have in-depth knowledge of Sketchup. Good video!
This video helped me a lot to understand more about the geometry in sketchup, thank you for sharing!
You are the best bro. I learn everytime from you. Trust me, your videos are changing lifes where you can't imagine.
Excellent video. 'Pacy', but clear & understandable. Appreciated!
Thank you, this really helped me
just getting back into sketchup for speed and theres a good reason ur videos ur r in my main recommendations.
This was great - really enjoying your videos. You are my new Go-To-Guy!
Awesome! Thank you!
Just learnt something new today. Now I wont fear curved surfaces anymore. Parametric design here I come. Thanks Justin
this is so helpful! thank you so much
This was extremely helpful, subscribed!
Thanks!
Thanks a lot. It really great video for me. I was struggling a lot with this soft and smooth ...while imported abjects like obj. files from maya..thanks a lot.. I am glad if you make tutorials on obj. files of importing and how to control and edit those files..thanks a lot
Thanks Justin! As always, you're very helpful. I'd be totally lost if it weren't for these vids.
Really glad it helps!
Thank you ! I learned about softening and smoothing curved edges- Thanks! I am still curious about segmented circles and how they are extracted for laser-cutting DXF files? - Does rendering them smooth affect the files? A reply would be appreciated.
Very helpful. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you!
Thank you so much!
Great video thank you so much. How the heck did you draw a road on that strange surface by selecting it?
great. as usual, thanks
great tutorial, thank you!
Thanks for watching!
THE BEST TIP !
Thanks for sharing. I was not aware of the information box for smoothing and softening, thanks.
If I could be bold enough to summarise, there are 4 tools for hiding, smoothing and softening lines - info box, softening edges box, eraser tool (Shift-erase, Ctrl-erase) and the hide/unhide property. All worth mastering and having their place.
Yep - that's a good point - I didn't really get into "hiding/unhiding" (with the eraser tool or not), but it's definitely another good thing to be aware of 👍
This is great video. Thank you. It didn't quite answer my issue, though. In all your cylinders, there is a hard line edge (profile?) that you can see, no matter the soften or smooth settings. I have a faucet component I imported, and it came with the profile edge missing. That means that the faucet is effectively invisible when rendered as vector or with certain styles. I have another faucet that has has the profile line. They both have softened and smooth edges, but one I can see (yay!) and one I can't (boo). How can I fix the profile-less faucet? Profile (the setting) is turned on in both components.
Hi! I need to hide some lines when I print in 2D graphic, but I don´t know which tool should I use? Thks
Hey, Justin , is it possible to smooth already existed model ? I downloaded a mirror from 3dwarehouse and im guessing that the circle (which the circle is made of) was created with a small amount of sides. can I add sided to make it look more realistic - now I can see a polygon and not a circle. Need to mention that its impossible to do it like in your tutorial because the mirror is not just a circle but an advanced model.
excellent as always....
Thank you :)
Thanks
I finally know what it means!! Thanks so much ((:
:) - Glad you liked it!
first, i really thank you justin your videos are helping me a lot...
i have a doubt.. how to select only edges of a group or model..
in video u did it by right clicking after selection... but where to get that 'select only' extension..
For that...he used a extension named 'selection toy'
Hi Justin, I have a problem maybe you can help me .when I apply a paint on the cabinets box the black edges disappeared what I have to do to solve this problem thank you an advance:
Ohhh I just figured it out, sorry for asking a silly question. You were selecting one of the hidden lines. Smart and Fast
Not a silly question at all - glad you got it though! :)
Been using SketchUp for years and didn't know this
Saw you do a pretty cool trick. At about the 9:56 mark in your video. You created a pretty fast "road" or line on a curved surface in a pretty fast workflow. How did you do that? Did you drop that using "Drape" and not put it in video? It kind of looked like you were you drawing a rectangle on the Z axis, then maybe some kind of intersecting magic keystroke.

Does this affect how the 3D print looks ?
I have sketchup 2021 and in "Entity info" I dont have this options as you have, like soft and smooth WTF
Can u please make an example of corn tower. I find it hard to make those edges smooth.
thank you
Thanks for watching!
great stuff! But how do you increase the number of edges to et rounder shapes? thx!
just found the answer in another of your video ua-cam.com/video/jIUAuB6XSJE/v-deo.html&feature=emb_title THX! Precious info ;)
Thanks a lot..
👍
I subscribe to your channel and really like your card.
My question is I was looking for part two of your previous video relating to layout Will you be following up on it
Yep absolutely - I just have kind of a weird schedule this week, so probably won't continue it until next week - but I will get back to it!
Will softening or smoothing components in sketchup make CNC cutting smoother. I have found the machine I use at a local company has to adjust all my drawings as when it gets to round edges it cuts them out square
Nope - it's a visibility change only
Hi, I was wondering if I smoothen an group of faces and then export the file to a .stl file the result are still with hard edges. Is there a way to solve that?
Use plugin called CleanUp
One problem I've been finding is that when the shape is more complex, drawn with sandbox or extrusion tools for example, even if the edges are softened/smoothed, when it comes to texturing, sketchup still reads it as lots of separate triangular/grid faces. You couldn't really notice with the grass + gravel in this video, but any larger scale pattern like brick for example would be split up and wouldn't follow the curve, resulting in what looks like a mess of interference. Is there a tool or extension that allows sketchup to merge more complex extrusions into one solid face? Like it automatically does with a consistently curved face? I need to render textures in some more organic forms.. Surely there's a solution?
Hi, I would like to ask you, if you find the solution for it. Because I am facing the same problem and I need to solve it as soon as possible, buuut I really dont know how. I search mostly everywhere. If you find the solution please let me know. Thank you in advance :)
Can I roll the tray and make it into shape ? Thank you 🙏Justine
I don't understand what you're trying to do...
TheSketchUpEssentials I mean can I apply that tray to roll the ground roll apply to be like shape of a rose ,some thing like that .thank you
TheSketchUpEssentials are you understand that ?
Where I find entity info command ? it's not shown in the right side .
Did you close the tray on the right?
Sorry I said card in my last comment , I meant to say content. I guess that’s the problem with voice-recognition software voice recognition software
lmao that hat ! Good Video
i cant play some of you're videos, there is this blurred graphics on the screen when I play your some of the videos, audio is fine
You are TOO good so that you zip here there ...
How do I, a learner, even get the tools ???
