I'm an interior design student, and your videos are very helpful. I just wish there was a playlist with every video in order, that would have been so much easier. I was watching another video, then you mentioned the grids and sandbox section, that's why I'm here now.
You have no idea how much helpful your videos for ppl juste starting with sketchup , you make the entier tool be very easy to design with. can't wait to transform all my old designs to a 3D, thanks to you.
AW! Been working with sketchup since 2004 and just now realized what i have missed with this! 100s of hours to waste. Thanks for yet another great vid!
I'm literally always searching your channel whenever i have an assignment for college 😂 thanks for the helpful content you make. Keep up the great work!
I hadn't used sandbox tools for a while and your video was a super, easy-to-follow guide to manipulating topography and placing a road. I've subscribed so that I can find you more easily next time. Thank you.
I have actually learned more from u than from college, I don't have money right now , but will definitely do some contribution to a real "GURU" like u, thanks agian.
Hi !! From the comment below, I have come to know your good name... Justin , thank you so much for such a wonderful tutorial. You are the best tutor ever.. M yet to watch all of your videos...after watching , m pretty sure my skills for sketch up would be honed to perfection. Thank you so much... God bless you Justin.. Love from India😘
I discovered there is nothing magic about the grid created by the sandbox, although it is easy. It's just a grid of rectangles in a group. I created a 1x10 rectangle and duplicated it x9, giving a square with all rows but no columns, so to speak, then grouped it. The Smoove tool worked inside it, but only functioned on one plane, instead of two. Other shapes worked also, as long as there was some linear connection. BTW, you're my favorite teacher. Good work.
That's correct - there's nothing special about the sandbox grid - the smoove tool generally only works on one axis, but you can use it on most geometry inside of SketchUp :) - Glad you're liking the videos!
I've been wondering for ages how to create hills and mounds in sketchup. I've been using it for ages and mostly made flat ramps and never really realised it was so simple this was a super useful run down thanks!
I finally convinced my boss to upgrade me into sketchup pro , so I find this video very intuitive and informative , I'm building a entire water treatment facility and the first step was to import all of the previous building into the new version , then I finally got geo location , my next step would be to put sandbox into my satellite image
your videos help so so so much every time im confused about how to make certain complex shape on sketchup and im on deadline..... thank you so much i really appreciate all you do for us
I have found that the stamp tool wants to offset by .03m if I set it to 0m? I am also wondering how I use the stamp tool to create a flat surface with a different offset on each side (eg a vertical retaining wall on one side and a slope on another?
Great tutorials! Greetings from Norway 🙂 I'm a Sketchup novice just started using this a couple of weeks a go. This really gives a boost in progress. Using this as a tool in education for my class at college. Do you have any videos for cleaning up the edges in to the slab, making the terrain line up with the wall/concrete, when working with sandbox? Was ready to quit using this program, but then i came across your channel. Nice!!
Just installed SU 2020 PRO and I am now able to really take advantage of my landscape design in my model when I bring it into Lumion thanks to you! I learned so much. Liked and subscribed! I gotta show the rest of the guys in my office your channel.
Hermano, soy tu fiel seguidor ya desde hace tiempo, dejame decirte que eres un crack!!!! explicas super bien todos los temas, sinceramente te agradezco todo tu contendio, saludos desde Cancun-Mexico
I also need to stamp a serpentine shape walking path on a steep hill. But I need it to be as flat/horizontal not like a road following the volume of ground. The hill is about thirty stories high. Thanks
So, i might be a bit late. I have the contour lines of my property, so i can create a "from contours" sandbox, but i'd like to be able to manipulate it with the smoove tool, like i can with one created from the grid. Is there a way i can "project" the flat grid onto the contour sandbox, to adopt the terrain curvature of the contour sandbox, on the grid?
Great tutorial, thanks. I've been using SketchUp v.15 for many years and now considering Pro 2022 with Layout 2D for my architectural design and product development work. Would prefer to buy the software outright, rather than a web subscription.
I wanted to drape a landscape layout onto a flat plane to create planters with push and pull from the plane upwards into the uneven landscape. As the plane did not have a mesh on it I could not drape the pattern. So I added a mesh and did the draping and now I don't know how to make the mesh invisible or turn it off. To delete each line (they are all square) my pattern is all curved is a job of many hours. Is there a way to re delete the mesh in the plane without deleting the draped pattern? Thank you
I just want to ask please... it's possible to duplicate the terain, hide the original, and after you modify the duplicated one, show the original and calculate the volume difference of terain. Hope you understand the question :-) Thanks in advance
I was wondering why SketchUp crashed every time I tried using the smooth tool xD Turns out you're not supposed to select anything. Thank you for this tutorial!
Really great explantation... always wanted to understand how this worked. I design pools and landscaping and often work with grades. Like adding a pool on the side of a hill. Any tips for this would be greatly appreciated! Thank You!
i keep trying to drape over an object I drew, but it only lets me adjust the edges, not the middle of my shape. i am trying to create puppet eyes. so want to make a non symmetrical oval like shape, then lift off center.. help?
Draw one circle, than draw another circle standing up perpendicular to that circle, then use the follow me tool to extrude your circle along the first circle - ua-cam.com/video/WA-WSV8954c/v-deo.html

It's easy to make textures on gimp and render animated scenes on 4d blue after building terrain on sketchup

You are a life saver with your tutorials.
thank you very much, architecture student here
Never mind, Figured it out, you have Right click and select Edit Group for it to work. I don't think you mentioned that. (i'm using SU 2020)
Just double click
You make the best sketchup videos. So clear and easy to follow. Thank you
Glad you like them!

Excellent.... thanks a lot.. after 13 years using Sketchup and for today I just learn these powerful tools
Awesome - glad you liked it!
A great introduction to the tools - highlighting how the tools could be used and the way that the tools behave. thanks

Grande ! Proprio ciò di cui necessitavo, Fratello. Just what I need, Thanks Bro. ✊
New to meshes and learning here- Thanks!
Very helpful video; thank you very much.
I wish if I knew this before I submit my integrated project with a geometric mountain :))
That was excellent and very clear.
This is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks!
Great Video! Thank you!

sketchup is the besttt
I tryed but I can't used somehow? It does not make lines or grid...nothing. The tools are displayed there, thats all.
Very clear and excellent presentation! Good work, Justin!

When using stamp can the offset be set to zero? I tried to do it but didn't have any luck.
you can also sync your sketchup model with lumion & it is much easier to create mountains & other stuff as well
Yes you can
All your videos are pretty great. Thanks!
Glad you like them!
Thank you so very much!!!!!!
this help a lots thanks
Glad it helped!
thanks a lot, but how do i get these objects (the road and the square) exactly over the sandbox where i wanna to situated it?
This video is awesome! It shows literally everything that you need.
Thanks! :)
I knew we could do all this in sketchup, I just didn't know how lol. Thanks for doing this kinda tutorials! It helps a lot
Thank you 🖤
I just want to ask please... it's possible to duplicate the terain, hide the original, and after you modify the duplicated one, show the original and calculate the volume difference of terain.
Hope you understand the question :-)

Maybe try this extension - ua-cam.com/video/aW1veScnQs0/v-deo.html
i am using the sketch up for school how do i find the sandbox tool ?
Thank You!

Glad you think so!
Excellent presentation event for a French speaking person.,,,, Tks Justin
Thanks - glad it helped!
Hmm.. just tried using this with SU22, but when I choose the smoove tool nothing happens?
how can we cut the scratch into desired plane. do we have any extension for that
i keep trying to drape over an object I drew, but it only lets me adjust the edges, not the middle of my shape. i am trying to create puppet eyes. so want to make a non symmetrical oval like shape, then lift off center.. help?
Thanks for this, this is very helpful for architectural students
Glad you found it helpful!
finally learnt sandbox..thanks justin
👍
Thanks so much! Super clear and concise. Easy to listen to and moved efficiently but not so fast that I could not keep up.
thanks justin! very helpful
Thanks for watching!
I keep coming back to his tutorials because of the 'whats up guys' 🤣🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️
Lol - well there's a lot of that :)
My favourite part! And "thanks guys" at the end!
what is your specs? when im using sandbox software freezes.
my specs is 48 gb ram
3060 12 GB
Thanks, Justin. I just wish there was more demand for architectural artists like myself. Most people need 2D plans for zoning; It's the requirement.
Do you know of a plug in where you can "smoove" a skinned face with different shapes other than a circle
Thanks Justin!
Hi Justin
How do you make a mesh out of a doughnut shape(Two concentric circles)?
Draw one circle, than draw another circle standing up perpendicular to that circle, then use the follow me tool to extrude your circle along the first circle - ua-cam.com/video/WA-WSV8954c/v-deo.html
Beautiful tools, great lesson! Thnx so much!
this is very helpful! thank you for making these videos!
Glad you liked it!
Wonderfully presented. Really helpful
This was very helpful. Thanks!

Great tutorial. Very clearly explained. Thanks Justin!
Thank you very much.My teacher.
How to you merge the landscape you built from scratch within a surrounding flat area, without it leaving any visible lines around it?
Very helpful
Glad it helped!
thank you for this,
Thanks for watching!
The smoove tool is not working on the plane generated via sandbox create from scratch tool. but it only works on my building model. what can I do?
solved it!
