Shot entirely with the DJI Phantom 3 Professional in 4K. Edited and color corrected in FCPX. Filmed during one evening, with only one battery of flight time.
Wow!!! I'm a real estate agent and tech geek. I always see real estate blogs that tout some piece of tech as a game changer that rarely are. But this is truly a game change for real estate video. Not only is the flight video amazing but the ability to do lower ground level shots that are Stedicam quality blows me away. Wonderful video. I'm might have a second mini career. I can't wait to get my hands on one.
I've been going to this beach for years and always thought this ship was the coolest thing. I get my P3 on Tues and can't wait to explore the Bay Area with it.
Great stuff (as always) Philip! I think I just read from one of your earlier replies that the Inspire tx hdmi out works with the P3? (That's excellent!) Also, I like your use of backward flight, since there's no props to worry about that way. But looks like you got some decent speed assuming no headwind going forward.. And still no props in view.
I really like your video..nice footage :D it would be great to watch the video without the quality loss of youtube! Maybe you can upload a part of the raw footage to a filesharing website to download it.. Thanks!
Jonathan Gaddis Thank you. I never use course lock when flying. I've flown RC for years and anything that changes the orientation of the craft that I don't control scares me a bit. I've messed with a couple times just to make sure it works on larger craft, but I never fly with it.
Great shots! One of the most cinematic examples out there. Obviously you know about lighting and how to fly. Very impressive! IF you have time for a quick question. Comparing the Inspire 1 to the Phantom 3, as a single operator do you find the gimbal limiting without the 360 pan on the camera only? Obviously with a dual operator on the Inspire 1 that offers lots of creative possibilities. I have several hand built drones with 3DR brains but none are setup for dual operator. I just ordered the Phantom 3 so that is why I was asking.
DitzlerPhoto The Inspire is better for a lot of reasons, even for a single op. I now have both and have 70+ hours on my inspires and 200+ on my P2, P1 kits. The P3 is limited in it's speed, you can't really fly forward with a level horizon and not see the props. The max speed I was able to get to was 8.5MPH before seeing props. See my Portland video that I filmed with my Inspire, I hit 60MPH chasing boats and never saw props. For stills the P3 is an awesome option, for video its a bit limiting. I can't tell a client that I can't do a shot without seeing props, that just doesn't work. Hence the need for an Inspire... :) As for the dual op stuff, it's fun... And I've used it a good amount, but most of my flying is for fun, and by myself, so I've gotten pretty good at flying where I want and keeping the camera looking at what I want.
Philip Lima Thank you so much for the quick reply. That makes total sense. I custom built special carbon arms for my quad just to keep props out the the way. Thanks so much.
+WolfyTV Thank you. I shot this whole video in one battery, so I was in the air for about 18 minutes. I edited it all together and uploaded it that night in about 2 hours.
Stephane Cantin Happy is a relative term :) I'm never 100% happy with a camera, even my RED Dragons have their limitations... That said, it isn't too bad. It's better than a GoPro IMHO, which is really what I'd compare it to.
+Tomás Martínez Rodríguez Thanks! I used the built in camera on the Phantom 3 Pro. It uses a GoPro censor but has a much cleaner rectilinear lens that does not distort like a GoPro.
JustBrendan Thank you! I wouldn't say "easy"... For my it wasn't too difficult, but I have thousands of flights logged on phantom platforms and hundreds on my Inspire so I've dialed in how the craft responds to yaw input in the smoothest way.
Philip Lima Could you share more info on the yaw input or other little tips? I'm waiting for my Phantom 3 to ship also. It will be my first drone/UMV and first time RC type experiance. Thanks and yes nice video.
dmacken11 I think the biggest thing is practice. Controlling the yaw smoothly takes a very steady hand and precise control. You also have to ramp your yaw input as you get closer/further away from things. The best way to practice is to fly circles around something while keeping the camera pointed at it. Try this at a park and find a tree or bench, or anything that you could fly around. Try and fly is an perfect of a circle as possible while keeping the subject in the exact center of the screen. It really just takes practice, fly as much as you can and you'll see your skills improve over time. Just don't rush into anything or try any shots you aren't comfortable with. I would do at least 10 flights of just basic take off and landings, some flying in straight lines in front of you... Before you even start looking at the camera feed on the tablet/phone. Just my .02... If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!
David Socci The camera in the Inspire and the P3 Pro are the same. Not being able to put on a ND filter definitely does limit things though. I still prefer flying my I1, but for it's size and cost, the P3 is an awesome option.
Hello Philip very nice video !!! i just bouhtg the phantom 3 pro and im having many problems. I cant get good shoots. do u think I can talk to you and ask you a few questions pls?
+Philip Lima thx a lot. ok where do i start. i have problems With the light. many times i strugle With the iso control and mano times my videos are too White and many too dark. i also have trouble With the edges i tend to loose the shapes of the objects when moving the drone or when filming moving objects. its like if it losses the focus. That happend to me also when doing the follow me. it only ficused well when moving the drone at the same speed of the car i Was in. i also experienced little jumps in the shots loosing smothness. ive changed my micro sd card and i hope With this New one it Will go better but havent tried it yet. for all this issues i Was thinking on getting the inspire hopping That the camera goes better but i want to be sure That the problems are not caused by me. i also saw on your comparason That the x3 seemed better focused than the x5. more sharpy. well as u can see im total begginer and i need desperate help. i dont know if the price difference justifies the inspire vs phantom and even there the x3 vs x5. im also interested in doing some slow motion and i dont know wich camera is better for That. i dont know what is better more resolution and les frames or less resolution and more frames. finally sorry about the writting im using a spanish cell and it keeps autocorrecting me. once again thx a lot and congrats about the channel
OXS Enterprises It's good. A massive improvement over the P2V+. It's no where near an Inspire in terms of performance, but it's a great setup for the price.
That is great news. I head to Charleston on Saturday and my p3 gets here friday! Ive flown the p2v+ for a while now so I'm sure it won't be too difficult to adjust. Beautiful footage!

So beautiful and nice. Best regards from Sweden.
Excellent filming technique.
One off the best video with P3.
Great flying, especially at the start in reverse under the pier :-)
I found out the history of the SS Palo Alto interesting as well...thanks for sharing.
Beautifully captured. Well flown and edited Philip.
+bdseidler Thank you.
Great Photography and nice smooth flying.
The best Phantom 3 video of UA-cam 👏👏👏
Beautiful shots! My Phantom 3 pro hasn't been shipped yet.
Great shots......! Love it. Waiting for my Phantom 3.
excellent video and flying !!!
Youniles Thank you!
Nicely shot and edited!
the best aerial video ever : )
incredible
Really nice. Excelent footage.
Wonderful Philip!

Great video!
+Eric Newman Thanks!
absolutly amazing ! i wait my phantom 3 pro this week ! :D I m happy
Just placed my order cant wait for it to arrive.
Well done! Love the flight! Thumbs up from me! :) Awesome views! :)
Great Work, very nice Video !
just so amazing this.thank you for share..
Very nice!
Amazing shots :D Thanks for sharing :)
very nice shot ❤️👍
Amazing!
Fantastic!!!! Great work! Subbed :-)
AMAZING
Awesome flying backwards under the pier. I'm assuming the video was sped up in post for that opening shot? Incredible flying/post production work.
Bijan Salehi Thanks! That shot was actually not sped up at all. The wind was helping the Phantom, so it was going around 30MPH.
fantastico video e musica ok..
Very Nice!

lovely
Very nice video... Subscribed
Great work! You remember what was your ISO & shutter speed set at?
Another beautiful video...not sure if the P3 has this, but do you ever use Course Lock when filming?
Jonathan Gaddis Thank you. I never use course lock when flying. I've flown RC for years and anything that changes the orientation of the craft that I don't control scares me a bit. I've messed with a couple times just to make sure it works on larger craft, but I never fly with it.
when I was 12 we used to be able to walk out onto this boat.. :D
+Pete Daley Same here! I remember when the closed it off.
flying pretty low at 1:58! Great video
Very Nice! :)
Did I see you wearing googles while flying?
If so, how did you ?
Thanks, beautiful video.
Ronnie Bennett No goggles, just a hat and sunglasses. Though I'm using an Inspire TX, so I could use the HDMI out of that to feed goggles if need be.
Great shots! One of the most cinematic examples out there. Obviously you know about lighting and how to fly. Very impressive!

You're welcome!
Great video! !!!
You aren't scared that your drone can drop in the water by so many birds ? :D
Fantastic work man. May I ask how much time you took to record and edit your footage to make this video possible?
+WolfyTV Thank you. I shot this whole video in one battery, so I was in the air for about 18 minutes. I edited it all together and uploaded it that night in about 2 hours.
@@laselvasurf Wow very efficient and beautiful too. Thanks for sharing.
Are you happy with the camera? Beautifull shot by the way

Nice video. What camera did you use? Gopro 4k??? :)
+Tomás Martínez Rodríguez Thanks! I used the built in camera on the Phantom 3 Pro. It uses a GoPro censor but has a much cleaner rectilinear lens that does not distort like a GoPro.
Amazing shots! Were the pans and tilts easy to pull of?
JustBrendan Thank you! I wouldn't say "easy"... For my it wasn't too difficult, but I have thousands of flights logged on phantom platforms and hundreds on my Inspire so I've dialed in how the craft responds to yaw input in the smoothest way.

Phantom 3 camera vs inspire 1 ???

thx for that :) and i supposed you are on final cut pro ?
Yes, this was cut on FCPX. Most of the time I use premiere pro CC for my commercial work, fcpx is just faster for these kinds of simple edits.
Philip Lima it's done i've got it :) do you record in MOV or MP4 ??
Hello Philip very nice video !!! i just bouhtg the phantom 3 pro and im having many problems. I cant get good shoots. do u think I can talk to you and ask you a few questions pls?
+HoNoMaXiMo Yes, feel free to message me here on UA-cam and I'll try and help!

Did you fly in non-GPS mode when flying under the pier to avoid GPS corrections ?
Hey Philip how do you rate the new Phantom? Is the camera up to scratch?
OXS Enterprises It's good. A massive improvement over the P2V+. It's no where near an Inspire in terms of performance, but it's a great setup for the price.
Philip Lima OXS Enterprises The phantoms are a learning process for a multicopter like the inspire.
what program did you use to do your editing on windows or mac
hello Philip ! i recieve my p3,this week .. please tell me what setting you use for this video , at camera ? :) sorry for my english
Doban Lucian I used 4K UHD, 24P, WB fixed at 6500K, auto everything else. Enjoy your P3, it's and awesome setup!
Philip Lima Thank you so mutch Philip ! thank you !
You're welcome. Enjoy your new Phantom!
60fps would have been nice. Especially with the birds. :-)
fernsebastian It's true! It just needs 4K 60fps :-)
Philip Lima You can shoot 1080 60fps on the professional if you like, correct?
Rob Harris That is correct.
Thanks!
fernsebastian Yes but for now cmos chips dont support 60fps without extra cooling
ND filter used?
Pete Dezzi No filter used, literally pulled the phantom out of the box the day before and only flew it once before shooting this.
That is great news. I head to Charleston on Saturday and my p3 gets here friday! Ive flown the p2v+ for a while now so I'm sure it won't be too difficult to adjust. Beautiful footage!
You'll love the P3, it's a massive improvement in every way from the P2V+.
Very nice!
