  • Peacock Bass fishing close to millions of anglers. No more long drive to Miami, and dealing with the traffic. This fishery is good most of the winter, except for the day or two after a bad cold front. Peacock bass are very cold sensitive, if you ask in the comments we will let you know when the water is to cold. The fishing during a warm spell in the winter is awesome. The Peacocks wake up and go nuts for a few days till the next front passes thru. By April the fishing is great every day until the first cold fronts of fall slows them down. There are lots of Largemouth Bass as well, and some big ones. When the peacocks are really going its hard to catch a largemouth, they aren't fast enough to beat the smaller Peacocks to the lure. Awesome! I have been down there several times over the last few years and have caught plenty of bass but no peacocks, I will have to give it a shot in the next couple of weeks. any chance you would recommend color and brand of lure?

      Hi Allan:
Might be a bit to early, they are very tropical fish and the water temp needs to come up after the last cold snap. If we get a week with lows in the 60's and highs in the 80's the bite will go nuts so watch the weather forecast. I was throwing a Spro Mc Stick 110 suspending jerk bait amzn.to/3pUZFPU Mike MCcelland is a good friend and that bait is wicked on Bass and Snook. in Saltwater change the hooks for #4 VMC Permasteel saltwater treble same for the diawa. Here's the link for the (good price) Daiwa TD Minnow amzn.to/3joUUvC h

The I75 Canals From Sunrise West For 20 Miles both sides of the road. And every single canal that go N and S from those canals. So they are now everywhere in that area! Thanks for asking and the bite will go nuts in about 2 weeks!

I’ve added the 2 lures you suggested to my cart, wanted to ask about colors before I placed my order if you don’t mind. Thank you!

@@allenpackard9098 The best all around colors are green back silver sides and anything with an orange belly or red on the head. Clown is the exact color I believe. Have fun the bite is going to be going off the hook in about 2 weeks last week of March they will be spawning and remember to try top water baits first, then switch if they don't want 'em. Any topwater with a prop on the back is good and you cant miss with a walk the dog lure!

Wow! They are dark in southwest Florida. They are absolutely beautiful in the green blue water in Dade County.

Hey Keith - Yep the water is really tannic, can't see the bottom in 4 ft. The ones I've caught in the c100 system are super colorful in that nice clear water.

It all depends on the water and canal! Miami dade and broward counties canals are cut from limestone which can make the water crystal Clear. I’m lucky to have a pond loaded with them out back and a canal full of them in the front yard!

They have really blown up the past 5 years in the I75 Canals areas west of MIA all the way to ponds in Fort Myers where they just popped up the last couple of years. Don't forget there are still lots of Largemouth around. Look for them in the side canals off the main e/w channels.

    witch lake is it ?

Hi Gabriel: It is the canals on both sides of I 75 from just west of Sunrise exit all the way to Snake Rd. They are also in the canals right in Naples near I 75 as well. Seems like I keep finding them in new places. Good luck and there are quite a few over 4lbs if you can fight your way through the 2lb fish.
