I would not wish being a support act to Showaddywaddy on anybody. I remember seeing these guys on afternoon TV and thought with the right support they could have been very good. Glad to see this retrospective recognition, so sorry the guys are no longer around to see it.
I have cd from Alan Merrill called ALL ONE. When FREE were in Japan in 1971 Paul Kossoff and Simon Kirke jammed with Alan as he was big in Japan. I think Alan introduced Koss to Tetsu Yamauchi. Any way if you are a FREE fan and want to hear Paul Kossoff's playing lead guitar on Alan's "ALL ONE" track the guitar from Koss and his signature tone is there and to he's you soul. I believe it's on UA-cam. Although Kossoff's only plays on one track the complete CD is fantastic.
Nice to see a review Phil, I preordered it back in January, glad you liked it, I bought a couple of singles back in the day and remembered one track in particular 'My World's Turning On Love' which was a B-side and I played it on the Pub Jukebox all the time, really looking forward to getting this!
A very under rated band. Probably due to the TV series. Alan Merrill was a huge talent and put out some great solo albums which were big in Japan but not many other places. He was also in the short lived band Runner with Mickey Feat and Dave Dowle (Whitesnake). Runner put out one great album on Acrobat in 79
Brilliant little cd set. I had to pre order this after watching this review. Currently £12.99 on amazon. Absolute bargain. Great review Phil. Many thanks 👍😃
Ended up preordering this after review as I remember the arrows and like what I’ve heard Have you checked out Horseslips box set from Madfish it’s expensive however it’s worth it for the amount of stuff you get in it.Highly recommended and a great band worth rediscovering
Hi Stephen, thank you for watching. The Horslips box set looks amazing but I don’t have the budget for it as it would mean I could not review as much as I do! Phil :)
SORRY. I am totally wrong on Alan Merrill album called ALL ONE. that was released by DAVID ELLIOT....Sorry. But Alan did spend time with Kossoff in Japan in 1971. Sorry my memory is going to mush.
What a story, fascinating. Thanks Phil, and Cherry Red!
