    What was in the Gainesville Florida water? It grew teenage artists. Bernie leadon. Don Felder, Stephen Stills, the Allmands were only a 60 miles away. Both bands including Skynrd boys lived In Gainesville at part time. Tom Petty who in the end sold more albums than the other bands, played with Bernie Leadon's brother named Tom Leadon in Mudcrutch. Tom's guitar teacher had been with Eagle Don Felder. Open air concerts were large, and a party always playing. What a time and place to be alive.

    I found this very interesting, Eagles were my favorite band when I was in high school from 1974 thru 1978 when I was working at the collacium in Richfield Ohio Glen Fry came to a hockey game to promote the Eagles at half time I was assigned to sit with him to guard him. Being a guitar player and Eagle fan that was awesome and Glen Fry was a blast to hang with. Very nice guy in spite of being a super star by that point.

    Don Felder lifted the Eagles with his guitar playing into the rock stratosphere from the world of country rock music. Glenn Frey just did not like that Don Felder was an unmatched musical talent and clashed with Don. There can’t be too many alpha dogs in a band. Don Henley and Don Felder seemed to get along better than Felder and Frey.

      They were never in the "world of country" not back then anyway -
      The reason they let Felder go was 2 fold - greed and Felder's politics - and that's bullshit -
      Felder got the last laugh - he won a huge court settlement

      Felder was a full partner in The Eagles along with Henley and Frey, so he did have a right to speak up and ask what was going on when Don and Glenn discussed buisnes behind his back

      Cranston did NOT resign in disgrace. His legacy was tarnished somewhat (along with John McCain and John Glenn) for his associations in the Keating Five. He was battling prostate cancer when he did not run for re-election, and Barbara Boxer won his seat in 1992 - 12 years after the Eagles/Cranston concert..

    • @bigsmoke6036
      @bigsmoke6036 2 місяці тому +7

      What do u mean Felder spoke up ??? Felder was a full partner with the eagles, Joe and Tim were just like employees. Even if Tim and Joe wanted to speak up, they had no rights to speak, while Felder had every right to question. They were in a vulnerable position. Plus Glen wasn't using his own money, he was abusing the band's money inventory carelessly on his own enjoyment. He was cutting Felder, Walsh and Tim's payment to enjoy in unnecessary things such as hiring a tennis coach on the road from band's money. Someone had to question where the money is going ? Felder did the right thing by speaking up as he was one of 3 partnership and he was equal to henly and frey in eagles limited. Felder was always right, Henly and frey were fraud & asholless

    • @PR-BEACHBOY
      @PR-BEACHBOY 21 день тому

      The reason Walsh & Schmidt didn’t speak up is because they aren’t Eagles.
      They are paid sidemen just like Stuart Smith, Glenn Frey’s son, Deacon and now Vince Gill.
      They have no equity in Eagles!
      One of the villains in this story is Eagles Manager Irving Azoff!
      He was part of the entire action in taking away each departed original Eagle member’s share of the corporation!
      The five Eagles who owned the company Were Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Randy Meisner, Bernie Leadon and Don Felder.
      Meisner and Leadon naively walked away without demanding their shares be compensated for!
      Felder was fired for asking too many questions about financial transparency!
      Both Frey and Henley were allegedly spending a lot of money that belonged to the band members and demanding to be paid more than the other partners!
      They demanded that Felder surrender his ownership share of the corporation!
      He refused and the legal issues ensued! Years of legal battles finally ended when he was awarded an undisclosed settlement that reportedly set him up for life!
      He has stated in at least one interview that Eagles work for him in that now, he continues to be paid royalties whenever Eagles perform concerts and whenever their music is played etc.
      While I know he misses playing with Eagles, I’d say “alls well that ended well for him.”
      Frey and Meisner have since passed away and the only original Eagle in the group is Henley and he allegedly doesn’t enjoy the most favorable reputation but that’s life!

      Here comes the backlash, lol, but as fantastic, popular and talented Vince Gill is, IMO, I thought he was a terrible fit for the Eagles. I would compare it to Dolly Parton, who was recently inducted into the Rock & Roll HOF, being a part of AC/DC. lol

      The Eagles is a history lesson, nothing with them is current or future, all the music 🎧 is beyond 40 yrs old, the eagles broke up as a band in 1980. I’m just saying anything revolving around the eagles nowadays in 2025 is history. I don’t like how it ended and it’s over been over as far as I’m concerned, the historical 70’s were there best times music 🎧

    Felder was the best guitarist for rock the band ever had until Walsh came in later. I rate Felder as a bit of a better all around player than Joe but Joe is a great guitarist. Bernie was also a very talented musician all the way around but no rock edge. He was more country and country rock. I believe that is why he left. Differences in artistic direction. Thy all have and had great lives. Frey got super big headed when he was on TV all time and had turned pro actor. That is likely why he wanted more money. Citing he is bigger draw at the box office. They all did well their solo stuff in music. I love Don Felder's sound and style. That's rockin but not pushing it to far.
