I still play the Keys album "The Grand Seduction" a lot. My favorite album of 2024! I love this project so much. I hope that after two great album there will be more of this. This is true progressive rock!
This week I am indulging in my "Secret Vice" in music! More of a retro throwback to my childhood! I spent most of the week listening to bubblegum pop from children's tv shows of the 1970s. Music from the Wombles, Animal Quackers, The Banana Splits hour, The Bugaloos, Sesame Street and the like. Sometimes fun music like these records really helps you to be in a happy mood. Next week, I will be back listening to prog or speed metal. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Excellent list Phil and thanks for sharing. Some discs I’ve been spinning recently are: Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys Then Play On by Fleetwood Mac Can’t Buy a Thrill by Steely Dan Captain Beyond self titled debut Drums and Wires by XTC “Melt” by Peter Gabriel Out of the Silent Planet by Kings X Heritage by Opeth

Recently got the Yes-singles LPs and am enjoying those as well as some classic Trevor Rabin, Queen- The Works, Plasmatics- Metal Priestess and the new reissue of Ratt- Out of the Cellar w/ bonus 7”.
Phil, a great and varied list. I’ve been diving into a couple of box sets I’ve received this week, Marillion with This Strange Engine and UFO’s Obsession. Frost* remains on rotation plus some Japanese fusion and by contrast, Thin Lizzy UK Tour 1975. Kind regards

My favorite Scorpions albums are the ones with Uli Jon Roth!!!! Listening to a lot of prog: Beardfish, Anekdoten, Pendragon, Collage, Nemo and, of course, the new Opeth!!!

I think this is my favorite segment of yours Phil, so relaxing to ponder what you are listening to across the pond there. My favorite ELO track is One Summer Dream and they have a magnificent live version on youtube from Zoom tour 2001. Also Blondie Live in NY 1999 and Isle of Wright 2010... Jan Akkerman and watching alot of drumming coaches on youtube break down Bill Ward's magic on many Sabbath tracks. That's me this week. quick question, Have you tried to contact Blackmore's management "Carole Stevens" (Candice Knight's Mom) in NY for an interview? That would be your one dream come true I know. Cheers from near Vancouver, BC, stay safe and dry, Pat
Hi Phil. All great choices you've been playing recently. I also have that same copy of "In Trance" by the Scorpions as well. One of my favorites by them. Recently I've played, Robin Trower - "Bridge Of Sighs" UFO - "Phenomenon" Rory Gallagher S/T Debut Kenny Burrell - "Midnight Blue' Stone Temple Pilots - "Core" Buckethead - 'Electric Tears" The Kenny Burrell album was a first time listen for me. I very much enjoyed what I heard. I've been slowly getting into Jazz and that album was recommended to me. I'll be playing it again soon. I’ll just leave that there. We don’t just need listen to old classic music. There is still tons of great new music being released by young and hungry bands and artists, we just need to go and look for it.

Huw Lloyd Langton - Anthology (2020) - 7 CD box set of what can only be described as really good "proto-Hawkwind". RIP Huw. Stone The Crows - Stone The Crows (1970) / Ode To John Law (1970) / Teenage Licks (1971) / Ontinuous Performance (1972) - the very wonderful Maggie Bell on vocals. Victory - Circle Of Life (2024) - it has Herman Frank (ex-Accept) on it, bloody awesome. John Carpenter - Escape From New York Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (1981) - another artist whose back catalogue I am going back through.
@@NowSpinningMagazine I actually got to see John Carpenter and his band (including his son, Cody) play live at the Troxy in London on Halloween 2016. It was an absolute "bucket list" item for me to tick and it came at the end of a pretty rubbish year health wise for me (I am fine now) so it really ended that year on a high note. I love all of his movies and music, I always declare "They Live" as my absolute favourite move of all time, with a lot of his other movies as close runners up.
