DIY Bias slip skirt (without zipper) | Beginner friendly sewing project | Step by step tutorial

- Hi everyone,
Welcome or welcome back to my channel. My name is Jess and I love doing DIY, making clothes in a "simply but pretty" way.
In today's video, I'm going to share with you how I made a bias slip skirt without using the zipper. This skirt is super comfortable when wearing with the elastic waistband. But it still fits nicely on your body by using the bias cutting method. It's also a very simple and beginner friendly project. So I hope you will like it and try it out soon.
To make this DIY, please check out some of my basic information below:
- Sewing machine: Brother Auto Tension.
- Material: 2m of silk fabric
- My body measurements: 80-66-92 (bust-waist-hip). I'm 165cm and usually wear Small size.
I learn sewing by myself. So I would love to know more sharing from you guys to improve my skill.

Beautiful! I’ve learned here on UA-cam that when you cut a skirt or dress on the bias that you want to let it hang at least overnight before hemming so that the hem is even because the fabric grows (stretches) when cut on bias and can make the hem look uneven.
Great tip!
Thank you so much! I’ve been trying to find a tutorial for this type of a skirt but without the zipper for forever! Will definitely be trying this ❤
I’m glad you find it helpful. Looking forward to see you own skirt soon

I'll try to check it out soon
Very cute, well explained thank you! What is the benefit of cutting the skirt on the bias, is it just so it falls better? Do you think this pattern would also work well if cut straight?
The benefit o cutting on the bias is that you can have more room at the waist and hip area as the fabric is stretching on bias. Besides that the skirt will fall nicely from the top to the bottom of the skirt. With straight cutting, it'll be more in the a-line look

Hi Jess, how could I make for SML bias skirt, could you help me with standard sizes? 🙏
Sorry for a noob question 😅 is the fact that it's cut on the bias important? Like will the design not work if i cut the pieces on grain instead of bias? 😁
Yes, you still can cut in the grain line. However, when wearing, the skirt won't fit nicely at your butt area.
Did you use a serger for this project? Thanks
No, I didn't use it for this project. That's why I tried French seam technique
I missed the part where you get the right bias when cutting out the fabric
One simple way I usually do it fold the width line and the length line of the fabric together. Then adding a half of the pattern to the folding line of the fabric. And cutting
