Hey folks, it's been a little while. I've been taking time off UA-cam to rest up and think about life and the future and what content I want to do next. I'm hoping to be back to streaming on Twitch soon with a catchup. Until then we've got board games highlights with my friends :)
Man, Shrek 5 sure took a strange turn. Farquaad was resurrected and finally managed to capture Fiona only to sell her off to some other prince, which seemed out of character until you remember that for him it was never about Fiona, just becoming king, hence he shifted his focus to this new weird crown MacGuffin that would let him become king of the world. But what really shocked me was Donkey's sideplot where he tagged along with Merlin on a mountain expedition only to get axed off. Really didn't think they'd have the guts to do that. It was also a pleasant surprise that they sacrificed the PG rating in order to devote a good bit of the movie's runtime to a new character with serious alcoholism problems. Really mature for a change, even if it clashed with the rest of the movie's tone. The climax was totally on par with Shrek 2 though, with the whole cast getting together to fight an army of monsters culminating in Merlin burning them all to the ground, a pretty stark contrast to his portrayal in 3. It was a rather grim ending though, with Farquaad actually succeeding and using his newfound power as king of the world to kill all dissidents, main characters included. My guess is that those greedy bastards over at Dreamworks are setting things up for a Shrek 6. I wonder if they will ever be done milking this franchise. I do hope they show us how Dragon reacts to the death of Donkey in that one though, because despite an abundance of dragons this time around, she was once again strangely absent. I guess it's to avoid the LOTR question of "Well why didn't they just FLY to the crown then, huh?" Overall, definitely a departure from the previous ones and even more unnecessary than 3 and 4, but hey, at least they took some risks. Gotta give 'em that much.
I streamed this game a few weeks ago my man, and everything on my channel is livestream highlights taken from my Twitch. It's very easy for folks to watch what releases on UA-cam well in advance
I remember playing this and getting some kind of mind control staff that allowed me to recruit monsters as followers, so I was immediately rushing to dragons when they appeared so I could become an unstoppable force.
Yeah when he said that I was like "RT have you played this game?" I'm also surprised that nobody ended up in the double digits for strength or craft. That almost always happens in the games I've played.
God, I love Talisman. My dad has a copy of one of the earliest editions of it, physically, and we played it all the time as a kid.... I'm glad to see the stabbing in the back and stealing hasn't changed, even after all the editions.
Somebody once told me that the dice were gonna role me, and I'd get stabbed by the sharpest tool in the tool shed. Spiff was having fun with his finger and his thumb in the shape of an L on his forehead. Well, the dragons keep coming and don't stop coming, hit the ground, and don't stop running. The village is on fire, and only Spiff gets the rollssss...
Your craft gets big but your strength gets dumb, so much to do, so much to see, Fiona's getting stolen every maxy. You never know if you don't fight...you'll never know if you're lawful right, *BAAAAAAM*
As someone who goes to conventions where this game is played, I can say that "It normally doesn't go this long" is a bold faced lie. Talisman is infamous for running the entire convention, even through the nights. often its not even done by the end
They are playing with like 1 or 2 expansion packs. There are 19 expansions on the digital edition, and they each add a different level of randomness and chaos. You don’t deal with everything directly, but different players will focus on certain parts of the map to win.
Not gonna lie i kinda wanna see him play dungeons and dragons I have a feeling he'll be a murder hobo or that bard that hits on everyone Edit:I may have banded a small community here
It depends on how many expansions you have, objective (because getting to the center is not the only way to win) and how far are you willing to take it.
@@mk_gamíng0609 I agree he literally got lucky rolls every time it mattered. Even in the game of life he kept getting high spins constantly. The dudes just lucky for some reason.
Gosh. I spent so much of the early 2010s playing this game on a tablet. Just every day on the bus, in cafeterias, or after getting back from work. It's so fun to see you and friends play it. Brings back good memories, and makes me want to go find that old tablet that probably still has it installed. Felt so intense and fun to watch you all!
Love this game and love this group even more. Would love to see them play with the other expansions and what the chaos and hijinks happen. Edit: For anyone that's interested the digital version they are playing is like $5 on steam and often goes on sale and even get be bought in bundles to give to other people. The expansions are also relatively cheap and as long as one player has an expansion the host can enable them (except for characters, you have to own the expansion to use the new characters unless the game settings are set to drafting a character or random)
OMG THIS IS MY FAVORITE BOARD GAME AND NOBODY TALKS ABOUT IT AND BOARD GAME PEOPLE HATE IT (because the mechanics take forever) BUT OMG THIS GAME IS SO CHAOTIC
Fun fact: the one official Kingdom Hearts Tabletop game (which, don't worry, probably isn't canon) is based on this! It fits the series well enough, it features the most important heroes as well as Mulan (cus they ARE a bit short on notable female characters who fight), the talismans are instead keyblades (with Mickey starting with one), and the valley of fire becoming the realm of darkness, with the crown instead being the door to darkness, which must be sealed like at the end of KH1
The revised 4th edition of Talisman has so many expansions, it’s nuts. worst part is all the characters are grey and if you don’t paint them, it’s a pile of grey plastic
Spiff getting so much gold is awesome. Reminds me of a Talisman game I played as a dwarf, I didn't get the crown but he died with 13 gold so he won in my heart.
Also, you can change the ending so it ends once you reach the crown of command without having to cast the spell. Or do one of the other, multiple endings instead, as well as change the inner board with a special dragon tower for added flavor.
Talisman is one of my favorite board games in how absolutely disasterous it can go. Nothing like playing minstrel and drawing 2 dragons out on the first area which you don't have to deal with

This comment is absolute gold
I love you
This comment is a work of art.
They didn't want to pay Eddie Murphy for Shrek 6.
Shrek 6 is gonna be on par with Avengers Endgame.
RT really caused a domino effect in that village. It started with 1 ghost, and ended up as an entire Resident Evil area.
I was surprised I didn't hear "STAARS." when they all entered it.
They fucking nuked it, too! It was Raccoon Village!
*You Just Cant Stop Farquad*
No one can
He is too powerful, a god

Yeah when he said that I was like "RT have you played this game?" I'm also surprised that nobody ended up in the double digits for strength or craft. That almost always happens in the games I've played.
I appreciate how Spiff fully embraced his role of lord Farquad with little hesitation
“Some of you may die, but that is a sacrifice I am willing to make.”
During most of that game, that village was literal hell on earth

The pvp on thisgame is fun actually
Talisman i probably my most favourite "casual"-ish board game of all time. Can't wait to see you completely murder it!
I feel like everytime Rt plays a game, chaos and nightmare ensue.
Same with Kevin
The fact that he played Talisman doesn’t help to stop this.
and when spiff is the there it dissolves into a symphony of insanity
Despite the emotional journey of Shrek 5, there’s still one mystery that’s still remains unsolved… *how did Donkey and the Dragon have babies?*
ever heard of splicing?
Trial and error?
With risk of bodily injury
With multiple instances of bludgeoning damage to Donkey
Carefully...
I just love how spiff sounds like the Real Life von karma
and I love that Von Karma is now a channel meme.

"Hey RT, it's Me, Mr Steal your girl"- Spiff 2021
This stream was a marathon, they played Cluedo before this too.
This was also the Skatebird stream right? Honestly great stream even if we didn't watch the Direct
I've played an old version of this game since I was young I can't wait to see how it gets absolutely messed up.

Ah yes turning talisman, a nerdy rpg into a legendary shrek rpg. Only at RTgame
This game looks like it would be great to play with people who don’t know how it works. Coincidentally, I have never heard of this before now
"it normally doesnt go on that long"
Well when you're playing with or against spiff it's never a normal game
Vanilla Talisman is legitimately one of my favourite games, and every single one of the expansions makes it so much better
I understand nothing about this game yet they were still able to make it entertaining for someone as clueless as me, this is why I really like them

Thought the base game and a couple expansions IRL and played it at a con once and just fell in love with it.
Just got the digital version today and I've fallen in love with it.
Never before have I been so exited for something so stupid.
Everyone’s trying to be Ice King from Adventure Time with how many attempts there’s been to steal a princess
Wasn't expecting to see Kelli in an RT vid. I remember watching her make her model and play twitch sings
You can always count on RT when in comes to using something in a way it is not supposed to be.
This was a lot of fun! I can't imagine how many turns this could last
As someone who owns this game, 12+ hours sometimes!

how the hell does Spiff always win these games? Has he spent so much time exploiting games that he just automatically breaks any game he plays?
I think he is just lucky on this one
