*_Twentyone y.o. girl and have had rosacea since I remember myself. The erythema-typed one! Definately a multifactorial disorder for me. Hot weather and anxiety are my greatest enemies!! Thanks so much!!_*
Personally, the thing I find hardest with my rosacea is that I also have a sensitivity reaction to aloe vera which causes redness and a burning sensation, but so many products for sensitive skin contain aloe vera 😕
The fact that my birth month is also rosacea awareness month is priceless. I always have a light flush at least and get red instantly in any situation involving heat, embarassment, anxiety and so on. I am in my early 20's, so for me it has been hard understanding it as it's always talked about in middle aged people and in different stages, even though I had it almost my whole life. As a child I had a very red papule on my cheek, which went away quite quickly and that is my first memory of rosacea together with my heavy flushes. I tend to get these rarely and they always go away in a week or two. I also had one papule on my hand for 12+years that just disappeared and a new one on the same hand appeared, though that one is also near to disappearing after almost 10 years. All of these symptoms are seen in more developed rosacea, but for me they were the very first signs. Body rosacea is never really talked about, since it usually happens on the neck and down in a harsher form, but for me it happened in a less noticeable way early on. I also have acne and dry skin on my face and ichtyosis vulgaris on my body, so it's hard knowing which products to use. I have a very simple routine with an oil cleanser, a cleansing milk, hydrating toner and thick moisturizer. I am very careful with actives and currently taking a break from them, but I love AHAs and BHAs and niacinamide. For my body I use shower milks and moisturizers with urea and lactic acid or lactic acid bacteriae
I recently started having terrible episodes of roseca - both with broken vessels , papules, and pustules, and am seeing derm next Wed. I have been reading a lot about the condition in the literature (I’m a NP). I find your videos quite affirming of everything I have read - and enjoy them very much. I wish you were in NYC!
Omg, the amazing information! I have seborrheic dermatitis and used topical steroids for a long time. Probably more than I should tbh. Back then, Rosacea didn't mean much to me. However, last year around this time, I started to develop redness and my skin felt so itchy all the time and absurdly hot. I went to a Dermatologist and he said that I had a mild form of Rosacea. He prescribed protopic. It took a long time for my skin to recover. Sometimes flare-ups come back and I reach out to protopic. Azelaic Acid is my go-to friend to help calm down the inflammation. The results come quickly! I started to incorporate Azelaic Acid because of your channel. Your videos and helpful information sent me on the right path to control rosacea.
Please do a video on skin care suggestions! I have the most sensitive type 1 dry skin and everything ( cleansers , moisturizers)seems to make it worse. Thank you!
Hi Angie, Have you ever tried the Vanicream Cleanser? My skin is both acne-prone and rosacea-prone (super sensitive) and I found the Vanicream Cleanser to be the best to not aggravate anything. It's very gentle & seems to work well.
Hi Angie, I have sensitive rosacea type 1 skin and I’m okay with Cetaphil Gentle, Cerave Hydrating, La Roche Posay (LRP) Toleraine, Curel Gel for cleansers plus Simple Micellar water. For moisturisers, I have used LRP Toleraine, LRP Effaclar Duo (designed more for acne but I find it suits me) and at night Cerave Moisturising Cream. Hope you find something because I know how upsetting it is to try out new products and find they don’t work for you.
I’m not sure if I damaged my skin barrier or I’m also starting to have rosacea or both. I’ve a derm appointment in two weeks, hopefully the doc will help! Thanks for the video, it’s super helpful! 🙏🏻❤️
I had a flare up of rosacea after a miscarriage in my mid 30s. I'd had no problems with my skin, apart from the odd hormonal spot, til then. With the rosacea, I had occasional red bumpy things, flushing and broken capillaries. I was diagnosed by my GP & given Finacea which really helped. Now, I still have broken capillaries and if I'm not careful can be prone to the flushing, like you, but mostly it's OK. Just thought I'd post in case it helps someone else, as I can only assume it was due to a sudden hormone change after the miscarriage. Emma x
I had the exact same situation. My occasional flushing upon embarrassment or exercise really became full blown rosacea after a miscarriage as well. I always wondered if it had something to do with the hormone change as well. Thanks for sharing.
I’ve had rosacea for as long as I can remember and I do have some better and worse days but I don’t seem to have true “flare ups” that go away. It’s just a base level of a lot of redness that can get worse without warning
Rosacea seems to co-exist with a LOT of other skin diseases, such as Melasma, Acne, Seborrheic dermatitis, Eczema? Also Keratosis Pilaris can be mistaken for it, or vice versa!
I will have to say that my Type 1 Rosacea is also covered by thick Seborrheic dermatitis on top of it! I take oral meds for this and wash with Salicylic acid cleansers. This all works, but having two conditions in one is MUCH more difficult to keep in remission!
Unfortunately dealing with sensitive combo skin where my T zone gets acne while my cheeks have developed mild rosacea (pustules and papules). I've taken Doxycycline, topical 15% Azelaic Acid, and topical metronidazole gel for my cheeks while I use niacinamide serum plus tretinoin just on my T zones for the acne. I don't get inflamed with rosacea as much but I still get 2-3 pustules/papules a month since being on this regiment. Can you please do a video for those struggling with acne AND rosacea like me?! I feel so hopeless right now ;(
I have type 1. I actually get a sensitivity that manifests in a cold feeling cheek. I only have it on 1 cheek but its significant. So it is inflamed and red but feels cold? I have lots of broken capillaries and background redness just on my affected cheek. I think its called unilateral rosacea with facial asymmetry. Im going to have IPL just on affected side, i wonder if that can help with background redness and sensitivity going forward? Id actually love a specialist to take my case on as a challege because 1 side of my face is fine and tolerates everything and the other is a disaster zone 😢
I am struggling with pustular rosacea for 2 years now. Sun is my biggest trigger for sure. I always find your videos on the topic reassuring. I'm hopeful I will get it under control at some point.........
Have had pustular rosacea for 2 years now and even water would make my skin sting, I used Cetaphil gentle face wash ONLY at night, rinsed with water in the morning, and used cerave moisturizer for at least a week (despite still having irritation I realized that keeping a consistent routine helped to build a foundation) then I started using Ordinary azelaic acid 10%, just a pea sized amount distributed across my whole face, just at night and eventually my face got so calm I could use it morning and night. I now always use it twice a day and my skin has never been so calm I can drink alcohol and spicy food and my skin still remains fairly calm as long as I don’t overdue it, Dr Sam Bunting’s video on rebuilding a skin barrier has helped me fix my hyper sensitive skin! I’m forever grateful! :)
Forgot to mention the Elta MD untinted mineral sunscreen has also been key in preventing my sensitivity to the sun, the first half hour I feel as if my skin is a little sensitive but after that my redness is calmed. I use it after azelaic acid and moisturizer but of course add all new products into your routine SLOWLY your skin will get better I promise! Patience is key!
I have PP rosacea and Soolantra and Azelaic acid are doing wonders. For my face products, I am using Apothaka products exclusively. They are simple, high quality, and really barrier supportive
I have ezcema and rosacea. So hard to treat. I react to all creams prescribed. I have so many allergies to ingredients. my only options are antibiotics or accutane. These can't be taken long term. Accutane aggravates my ezcema. Different dermatologis told me they are afraid to prescribe me anything else. It sucks. I'm never in remission. I avoid alcohol, cheese, spicy foods and tomatoes.
Your cat is precious 😿 Also, great info, but...your cat 💕 💕 Do you have an opinion about IPL? I have persistent erythema and broken blood vessels now, and I'm thinking about doing it.
Have you ever heard of keratosis being mistaken for rosacea? I was very sure I had rosacea and then I saw a derm and he told me that it was just the KP on my jawline that can also cause redness and flushing. I was very confused by this because I've never heard that this was a thing
This average age of onset really needs to be used less or removed entirely. There seems to be so many people being diagnosed in their 20's. Personally, my first dermatologist refused to diagnose me with rosacea simply due to my age (23) at the time.
I always had blemish free skin. Very pale and clear. Still I wanted to do the beauty trend and shaved my face so make up would go on smoother. I can't prove it, but not long after I shaved, the inner part of my face became red and blotchy. It's been a few years and I still struggle with rosacea. I always wonder if I did this to myself. 😑
I have learned about my rosacea from your channel, I understand it better. I am 51 and my ocular rosacea is getting worse. The antibiotics help but nothing else....I have to be so careful with actives on my face (azelaic acid) and the consistency of creams to manage my outbreaks. I would greatly appreciate the skincare suggestions and care for sensitive skin like mine. I live in Canada so I am not a stranger to weather and humidity extremes. It's been difficult with makeup of any kind to not aggrevate my condition. Please help .
Have you seen an optician? They can test out how quickly your tears dry out and sell you or recommend suitable eye drops and/or eye wipes for blepharitis. I saw Dr Sam’s colleague mention that there is some evidence that omega 3s might help ocular rosacea. I rarely wear eye shadow & mascara now because they make my eyes sore. Simple micellar water seems the gentlest for removing eye makeup.
@@louisem2097 yes, that's why I have antibiotics and eye drops. The antibiotics work best, but it's for 2 months and then I have to go there again. I t gets expensive.
@@idak1779 so frustrating. Wish there were more gentle treatment options for all types of rosacea & more information on ocular rosacea. I think they are now using lasers and IPL treatment for ocular rosacea but cost wise it will be out of reach of most sufferers ☹️
Are you using the Face changing, or face smoothing video app, or special camera with a filter, during your videos? Because, this could be legally bad, if you’re trying to sell products, while not telling the truth about the actual, true results of the products. This is also disingenuous. We need to put a stop to UA-cam “beauty influencers” using filters, and Face changing apps that smooth the skin, and give false results of foundation, and other face products influencers are trying to sell. You are “influencing” the public to buy things based on false advertising. It is very misleading to the public. People are going out and buying tons of products that do NOT have that effect on their skin, and their appearance. This is so wrong. If you are using a filter, or an app to change your skin, or face appearance, you should have to put a large disclaimer in the beginning of every video, and in the link section you include under your videos. If you’re doing this, you need to be honest and tell your viewers. I would love a video from you, explaining if you do, or don’t, use these apps, or special cameras. How about *that* being your next video topic?
