@johnbob4545 there's no way you live here. It got hot early this summer, yes, but it never hit 110, as the previous viewer suggested. And today, in August (typically the hottest time of the year), the high is 63 degrees. But I appreciate your comments. Cheers!
We do have a wide variety of outdoor activities, the "best of the best" as you say but I don't think a single shot in your montage was from Central Oregon. We have a lot of talented local videographers that could help you out.
Bend Oregon is overpriced, overcrowded, has a severe shortage of mental health providers, has a poor healthcare system with only one hospital that is struggling financially and can't seem to retain or recruit healthcare workers so if you need medical specialists then Bend is not a great option. The houseless population is growing and the city officials never seem to find solutions. The houseless people occupy a space for a while and then the city officials have them removed. The houseless people move to the next location all to have the same thing happen all over again. The public schools have issues and the state of Oregon is in the top 10 list of states with the highest drop out rates. The commmunity college in Bend is very small and colleges in Oregon are pricier than other states. There are natural spaces to explore but you will be doing so with hundreds of people if you want to go in the Spring and Summer. Unfortunately the natural beauty is being loved to death. There are also dangerous levels of pollution during the wildfire season due to toxic smoke. Bend has had several days of hazardous air quality in the past 2-3 years making it impossible to go outside and it's difficult to keep the smoke from seeping into your home. The drought is severe and so Central Oregon is ripe for dangerous wildfires. If you have certain medical conditions that are made worse by wildfire smoke then consider moving elsewhere. I actually do like this UA-cam channel and there has been at least one video done with a list of some of the negative aspects of living in Bend but what I have discovered is that most of the glowing reviews of Bend are from realtors and guides. Bend is about 31% more expensive than the national average so be prepared to pay more for homes, rent, gas and food. Just an honest review based on my experience of living in Bend Oregon.

Agree with most of what you said, Born and raised in bend before Leaving 2019. Central oregon has always had wildfires and smoke problems, just depends on the year Some years good others bad.

There are. I don't know what that actually means as far as how much the rents are, but they do exist. There is actually more vacancy now in the new apartments than we've had in years, so there are all kinds of incentives.
I like Bend the way it is now, unfortunately it keeps popping up on top 10 lists of places to live in national magazines, so it will not stay this size.
As a local my self Bend is becoming more like California people from gang are coming kid drink smoking and fighting happens on the nice part every day a kid got his head stomp in in result it broke his jaw don’t move to bend trust me it over rated !!!!!!

If you are having a stroke you have to be flown to Portland & I have met people who didn’t make it on time and are now sitting in a wheel chair and other really awful situations. My husband was in CA when he had a stroke and it saved him as they have the equipment to dissolve a clot. I rode my motorcycle around the country from Philadelphia a few years back and I broke down in the Oregon high desert. I got a tow to the closest Harley dealer which was in Bend. I was there for three days while my bike got fixed. Central Bend was a nice walkable area with unique shops and restaurants. I liked Oregon very much it’s a beautiful state. I was surprised by the lack of “sprawl” like you pointed out. Being from the Northeast there isn’t really open land between towns and cities, but out west cities and towns have a more defined end.
We are also a couple hundred years younger than the East. 😆 It's funny, our oldest buildings and homes are only 100 years old here in Bend. But it is lovely here for sure.
Bend is not Bend anymore, it's baby Portland. Extreme homelessness issues with no end in sight, they camp anywhere and everywhere they want. They trash neighborhoods and streets. And I'm not talking about the people who are homeless that are actively trying to better their lives. We're talking about drug addicts with major mental health problems who don't want help. And as a result of that, tons of shootings, random assaults and out of control fires have become the new norm. Bend has become too expensive and overcrowded for the majority of the locals to live in their hometown. It's has also become a political nightmare as those who are in charge are clearly blinded so issues are far from getting solved. Not to mention the high percentage of human trafficking that happens :( Bend has been ruined, look deeper for the truth.
So... are you saying you live here? Cuz I do, and I think it's great, and when was the last time you lived or even visited anywhere else? Cuz there are a lot of problems elsewhere too!
Don't bring you're fast paced no time to waste mentality here. We are respectful and move at our own pace. Keep it chill and you will get along.

You're so right about the airport. Dealing with airports in major cities is such a hassle. The Redmond airport is just so peaceful by comparison.

We did NOT get 300 days of sunshine this year. It was very cold and cloudy most of the time.
