Glad you mentioned air quality. We leave for about 3 months every year because of it. The forecast is for the number of acres that burn in Oregon to double by the end of the century. We might get lucky for a few years here and there but the problem is not going to get better over the long run.

I think you hit all the right points. This is my third time living in OR (two other times were in the Valley) but the first time for my husband. He is blown away at how mellow and nice everything is around here and even over in the Valley.
The only thing that caught my attention is that Bend is actually at over 3,600 feet elevation, and depending what part of town you live in, possibly a bit higher.

Ha, i didn't even realize i said that, I'm not sure why I said 3k and not 3,500. (that's the easy rough number that's well known) Must have just been in the zone and not listening to myself talk lol. 😉
Thanks for the comment, and for pointing that out.

The Eviron-mentalist stopped the controlled burns and did away with the logging roads etc, and this is why there is more fire. More damage then when forest rangers took care of the forest.

They still have controlled burns. Are you saying they don't do as many as they used to?

Bend was very small in 1975.

My Bachelor is a volcano and the 3 Sisters volcanoes that are active even though they don't look like it. My Hood is a volcano. But does it look like a volcano. It's active and very dangerous.

I think you understate how much snow we get here. I’ve been here for four years and every year has had at least one major snow storm with feet of snow.

You didnt mention access to great roller hockey. That's a relocation requirement for a lot of people I know.

Smoke season. Hot as f Summers. Everyone has to one up you even on the most trivial stuff. Horrible street layout causes awful traffic. No access to a city. I have family i visit there which is an insane plane ride. They chose Bend, I chose Las Cruces. Crazy how they are both close in population but don't even compare. We have no traffic, the roads are great and it's so much more chill. And we have way better AQI.

Thanks for your thoughts, note to self... visit Las Cruces NM.

Bend is not Bend anymore, it's baby Portland. Extreme homelessness issues with no end in sight, they camp anywhere and everywhere they want. They trash neighborhoods and streets. And I'm not talking about the people who are homeless that are actively trying to better their lives. We're talking about drug addicts with major mental health problems who don't want help. And as a result of that, tons of shootings, random assaults and out of control fires have become the new norm. Bend has become too expensive and overcrowded for the majority of the locals to live in their hometown. It's has also become a political nightmare as those who are in charge are clearly blinded so issues are far from getting solved. Not to mention the high percentage of human trafficking that happens :( Bend has been ruined, look deeper for the truth.

Amen to that. Realtors ruin areas bringing in outsiders and locals can hardly enjoy their town.

You are going to overcrowd your area talking about the pros and cons of Oregon.
Bend is already getting overcrowded. The videos are very interesting indeed. Do you want another Spokane or Seattle or Portland?

So you get more people moving to your area or others and the volcanoes erupt, then what? All that ash on the fields. The animals get sick and die from eating the ash laiden ground.
