  • The infraspinatus is one of the most problematic muscles in the shoulders. It causes pain in the mid-back and into the shoulders and even radiates to the arm. In this video, I discuss how this happens and why this happens. Most importantly how to fix and improve the pain in the shoulders through stretches and massage.

Hi there, I've just found your channel, thankfully. I dislocated my right shoulder in my teens, and eventually had it operated on, I can't remember the name of the procedure, but they screwed a piece of bone, I think, to prevent further dislocations. Now 26 years later it's been very successful, and no further dislocations. However my external rotation is very poor, I can barely go to 45 degrees. Can you suggest any specific excersise to increase the external rotation. I use a light band for external and internal rotation, but I'm still struggling. Any advice would be most welcomed.
    Many thanks.

do you recommend doing all of these as a route at the same time or to just pick a few?

I’m 3 months deep into a work injury where I was pulling a large heavy fabric blockage from a piece of machinery. I was diagnosed with a bursitis injury to my shoulder. I have had ultrasound showing impingement of the bursa but no damage to the rotator cuff and also an X-ray which came back as ok. Until recently (aside from the odd event of pinching the bursa), my pain has increased, and both my range of motion and strength have massively decreased. My Physio has been working my pectoral, bicep, trapezius & most recently the most significant pain was behind the scapula. (That’s a B!TCH to get at!). What has been neglected is the information in this video. I’m a mess back there. Lots of spasmed muscle has me wincing but the difference is noticeable already in my first attempt.

I've been told by an Osteopath I have a calcified infraspinatus. Would this still be ok?

Thanks for the video I'm going to try these techniques out. I've been dealing with tightness in my left shoulder/lats for years.
Also, I like to rest my head on a foam roller when self massaging on the floor. Do you think this is a good idea? I do it to rest my neck and it helps me control the level of intensity.
