- Having a rounded posture with forwarding head carriage can be caused but mainly an imbalance of muscle strength and poor range of motion in the shoulders, cervical and thoracic spine.
This may cause more stress and strain on the spine that can increase the chances of you developing arthritis in this area, the loss of motor control, sensation in your arms or other areas in the upper body. Since your nerves come from your neck to innervate the other areas of the body.
By strengthening and moving in the opposite planes of movement in your daily routine such as bringing your shoulders back and drawing your chin in , making a double chin, will fight against the countless of hours we spend at our desks, driving or hunched over on our phones .
The exercise in this video will help improve your posture, pain and stiffness in your neck shoulders upper back. I do these exercises myself to not only maintain a more upright posture but to allow me to move more comfortably in my sport of choice Olympic weightlifting and prevent injuries.

I can’t thank you enough for these videos! Helping me so much! How long after these exercises do you think it’s safe to lift light weights again?
Thanks for your detailed thoughtful videos. I incorporate them into my morning yoga practices and they have been taking me up a level. Perhaps you can offer some knowledge into soulder cracking when I'm doing the 'wall w' s' exercise. Every time my shoulders crack all the way up and all the way down. Is this ok? Should I shop doing them? Perhaps there is another exercise to segue into this one? I think this is a chronic condition but am not sure. It happens for certain yoga poses as well. Thanks for your consideration.
Love ur videos!! Thanks for ur great content!
Thanks Deborah. Messages like these mean so much thank you
EXCELLENT 🙏🙏🙏
So helpful, greatly appreciate you.
Great exercises. The problem is the majority of people have an overractive upper traps and scalene. That means in every exercise you showed, they will also raise the shoulders and keep the lower and middle traps inactive.
Love this video!!! I had no idea I had such a severe problem with my posture and weakness in my upper back until I followed your exercise routine.
Do you have any suggestions for kyphosis due to whiplash / body weakness?
Dr, do you recommend doing all of these in succession, or picking a few? Or perhaps breaking them up during the week and rotating through all of the exercises?
@ ACTIV Chiropractic: I met with Major Car Accident in 2017. Since then I have been facing upper back pain with forwarding neck. If I walk more than a mile then it starts really hurting me and also the pain is 27/7. I have little neck pain and entire upper back pain. especially the pain starts right side near shoulder blade and slowly it expects entire upper back. Could you please suggest what should I do. I have visited a few chiropractors but nothing is getting better. I really looking forward if you can help to get rid of my pain
Which one works best for loss of curve?
Good content ,what is best exercise for back pain between lats , middle back. Pain after long staying at work? Thanks!
this video and the video that leads to the next . i hope it helps
I have many problems with my body. I have torn shoulder blades. My neck I can barely move , and my lower back is giving me problems also. As you can understand I don't sleep very well and it's hard to go out of bed. Which exercises do you recommend I should do. Sincerely Bill van der Worp.
I suffer from cervical lordosis from sitting in front of the computer all day for work. I also do bodyweight training 3 days a week coupled with barbell squats and deadlifts. Would you recommend these exercises daily or should they only be on the days I don't lift? I also do the cervical stretches outlined in one of your other videos. Thanks, great videos!
I thought you cant do heavy exercises of u have cervical lordosis. I have it also and was advised not to do treadmill and only minimal household chores.
@@kristinaestrella9516 my orthopedist knows I lift and never said anything bad about it. In fact he made it sound like its a good thing.
Awesome video, as usual. I must say, however, that it was hard to concentrate without your shirt on. Lol :-)

A year ago I made the awful decision to buy a 'gaming chair' for my desk at home, I do not recommend. The shoulders of the chair wing inwards, designed to replicate a race car seat. Well, my car also has the 'sport seats' option (I'm second owner) which is the exact same problem--the sides of the upper part of the chair where your shoulders rest, force your shoulders to protract. Over time you don't even realize the seat is bad for your posture, your body adapts over time without you noticing and then it becomes the norm. Considering I spend most of my day either at my desk or in my car, I'm having to constantly remind myself to retract my scapulae. I have a long road ahead of me to reverse the negative effects my two seats have had on my posture. First, I know I need to invest in an ergonomic desk chair and to not cheap out. Changing the seat in my car isn't as feasible for me considering how expensive even just one seat would cost. Time to get to work!
Thank you for all your very helpful information. You seem to have a video for each of the problems I'm experiencing. Subscribed!
I m suffering from Same problem I can't sit without any back support if I sit pain Started in my shoulders

Hey Robert. Because of Covid (social Distancing in Australia) lock down. I cut it myself.
It's number 1 on the bottom.. And fade to number 3. And trim the long hair on top.
