Here's a 4k version of the comparisions➢ ua-cam.com/video/_3KRtxxOPbE/v-deo.html Also if you want the raw files here's the link for that➢ lizard856.gumroad.com/l/gdhvfb Hopefully that helps! 🎉
I did some tests myself with x4, trying to find out which resolution should I use, the 8K or the 5.7k@60fps. 8K does look a bit sharper, but when I zoom in a 5.7k clip to a level that is too fuzzy I would avoid using, 8K doesn't look much better at the same zoom, the improvement after crop is just marginal to me. 60fps is much more smoother and I can slow down if I need to, I guess I'll use 5.7K more.
Thanks for the review ! I would say the biggest advantage of the X4 (and even X3) is the softwares that comes with it. The camera is full of features, there is the mobile app, a more advanced desktop app, plugins for Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro and Resolve, etc... The mobile app is especially good, it takes a second to connect the camera and watch your clips or create an edit (you don't have to download the files, its streaming from the camera, so no waiting time). You can reframe your clips, track subjects or key frame the angle and field of view, add motion blur, (looks really good) slow motions or freeze frames... The 1-inch looks amazing tho, low light footages are way better than the Insta360
Defeinitly insta360 software is great! Luckly since the 1-inch is still an insta360 camera the software is still there just the in-built software is slightly different.
Good review. I figured as much. Been using my one inch everywhere. The x4 would be a good buy if I ever damage or need replacement for sure, since insta360 has no plans on selling only the lens at a reasonable price. It pushes buyers to just buy the next thing. An update to use only 1 lens would be amazing also for the 1 inch, the processing times for pics are killer, granted the one inch is built from the R line, so essentially it's very 'old' tech in terms of insta 360 lifespan in general.
Just a recommendation, when showing video side by side, show us the same perspective of the video as opposed to half of the frame from one camera and half from the other. It is easier to appreciate the difference in quality that way.
We need a 1 inch version of the x4. At the same time, use the x4 in daytime and use a Insta360 ONE R 1-inch Edition action cam in low light should do the job also. When you say the x4 has 8k video you are not lying but need to add that it is spread over the whole 360 degrees. So when using the same camera angle, they are the same.
Thanks for the comparison. This was extremely helpful for deciding what to buy. Just a note for you when editing, Your export bitrate looks to be pretty low. If you figure out how to raise it on your editing software the output video will look alot higher res than it does currently. That little detail tripped me up for a while!
Thanks, glad you liked it! I typically just use NCS music but lately I've been using the updated youtube audio library. Occasionally I also use other websites like tunetank but that often requires getting the claim removed after being put under copyright.
A inch version 2 with 12k would be incredible, the optics are there but the processer is sorely lacking on the current 1 inch battery life is poor too, if insta360 could upgrade the processor and battery they would have a seriously good semi professional 360 camera on their hands which they could easily charge £1000 for, unfortunately the lack of support for the 1 inch has me doubting we will ever see this
The only feature that the X4 has that I wish the 1 inch had was being water proof to 30 feet. I love my One RS 1", the night time video of the London New Years fireworks show came out awesome.
What no one talks about with the INSTA 360 RS 1" is the recording time of 4 minutes on a 256GB SANDISK SD card and 20 minutes on a 16GB INSTA 360 SD card at 6K@30fps at 20C ambient temperature.

Fantastic side by side comparisons please continue making these thank you
Good review... I only wish this was uploaded in the highest quality instead of 1080 - makes it hard to see any real difference.
That's defeinitly my bad, I'll try and get a raw 4k comparision and link it in description. EDIT: Got it up now!
Fantastic video, you did great, way to go. Thank you.

Great job on the review
Good to know, yes larger sensor will have better low light
Great video! Love the info! Think I’m gonna get the X4 as my first 360 camera 😁

You did an excellent job with your presentation.
Excellent review !

Need a 4k version. Can’t see the difference.
Can you tell me how can i use the music at the end of the video for my UA-cam videos without copyright brother. It was really cool.

I would've expected the opposite, I would expect the larger sensor to generally look better in all cases, especially in low light
They both seem really good
Good review!
