Hi - Lesley! - So glad to see another video and hooe you're okay. I don't have Chickadees in my area - this is a real treat to see yours on video. I love their calls and they are very, very cute 💕 Only 10 grams? Wow! - Stephanie

Hi Lesley, my 10 year old daughter wrote a poem last winter about Chickadees that I would like to share. I am typing it just as she wrote it. It is called Winter Chickadee Winter Chickadee in flight Winter Chickadee shimmering so bright Sunny all day dark all night day chickadees are in flight while wintered out wolves roam at night Swooping down from tree to tree The Chickadees as free and as merry as a bee Summer spring winter and fall the chickadees home is the forest that's all Saying its name to communicate that's one of the chickadees calls chickadee cute chickadee sweet I LOVE CHICKADEES
I was hiking in a state park recently when some Black-capped Chickadees landed on a nearby tree. I was talking to them in my high-pitched bird voice.." Hello Chickadee, how are you"? Not knowing that some other hikers were just feet away watching me chuckling. Was kinda embarrassed but who cares? They're CUTE! P.S. I really appreciate your videos. Excellent camera work and editing.
Seriously, do talk to birds, in a high-pitched soothing voice! They definitely know that tone of voice and respond to it. And any talking at all shows that you are not a predator.
I talk to mine all of the time and I really don't care if anyone has seen me and laughed, not going to stop me. hahaha. 🙂 thanks for the nice comment on my work. Take care
Steve Hogue - I reached the point as to heck what the neighbors or people think. I keep a plastic zip bag of dry cat food in the car - if I'm at a stoplight and see birds looking for food on the grassy medium - window comes down, throw food and happily watch them devour it. I also do this if I'm leaving a parking lot and see a group of birds - usually Great Tail Grackles. I released a couple of them years ago (juveniles that could now fly) and I would dangle a Superworm and call them if I saw one in a tree - letting them know food was on the way. It gave them a great start for their journey into adulthood. - Stephanie
they are my absolute favorite. brave, friendly and tiny. the fact that they never migrate makes a big impact on me, regardless of the time of year, if i'm having a bad day or week, i'll seek them out in a ravine to hand feed them. just the very touch of their little feet and them looking at me with those tiny expressive eyes, makes me feel like the One True Creator is near me and watching over me. i'm being sent messages of love and friendship from Heaven
I used to feed Chickadees from my hand on the porch near the feeder. One day I was knitting on the porch and was aware of Chickadees saying their “dee dee dee” call, but focusing on my knitting and not paying attention. Suddenly I felt a small swing brush across my forehead, and felt the breeze of it as he tried to get my attention scolding me with his “dee dee dee”. I looked up, laughing and noticed the feeder was empty. I filled it at once! I still chuckle when I think of that.
They’re always on my porchSinging in the morning when I wake up so I really enjoy that and I also enjoy the fact at certain chickadees stay all you’re around on my porch as well.
Lesley, thank you, they are so adorable! This year there must be a few Chickadee families in and near my yard. The cutest thing is when I walk out to fill the big feeder in the morning and they all seem to spread the word. They definitely know me and my schedule.
Awww so sweet. You're right they actual do spread the word when feeders are being topped up. I remember when I used to top of the feeders the chickadees would chat back and forth. Adorable little birds
True story... I bought bird feed today bc of your videos. 😊 I just feel better knowing the local birds can always visit when hungry or if they need a bath. It's fun, I have wild bunnies too... We had our turtles out for a walk in the back yard one year and this chickadee got really curious and was following them around the yard. It was really cute.
Never saw one sleeping very cute! Chickadees are adorable no doubt. My favourite cute behaviour is the conversations when a flock is in a tree. Another reassuring part of the forest soundtrack.
I have an abundance of these little ones. Every time I walk out my door I can usually hear them chatting away. I talk to them sometimes, pretending their chatter back & forth is answering me. Lol. I keep plenty of peanuts and black oil sunflower seeds in my feeders for them. I just love them!!
The chickadees around my property are usually the first to sound the "chow time" call when I am carrying the food bucket and filling seed feed trays. Cheers from Texas!
Out of all the birds that come to my feeders, i feel the strongest bond and connection with chickadees it's pretty incredible. 😊 They are the least afraid to get close to me and they are always first to the feeder once i turn my buck after restocking them. Black-capped Chickadees are one of my favorite local birds. Their small size and cute plumage to go with their energy, intelligence, personality, and vocals make them charming. I enjoy listening to and observing flocks during the late winter pre-nesting season. I've been able to get close to them as they actively fly and hop around on perches being vocal. Thank you Lesley. I always look forward to you new videos. We have three small bird favorites here in Middle Georgia. We do have a family of Carolina Chickadees that come up to the feeder early in the morning and near sunset. We Also have Carolina Wrens and I love to see them drop some peanuts off the feeder then down to the ground to eat them. My favorite little guys are the Tufted Titmouse. They grab a peanut and up into the tree to eat it. So these little guys are my early morning coffee entertainment. I've had the Titmouse and the Chickadee land on the deck rail to eat their peanut. Maybe me and my coffee is their entertainment. Thanks again Lesley and I'm glad your feathered friends keep you smiling!

I’m sooo glad I found your channel 🥰! I’m relatively new to birding... my 2nd year and learning. I’m in South Eastern Wisconsin. I live on a second floor apt with a wood balcony, and have 2 regular hanging feeders and new this year, a finch feeder on the outside part the balcony wood slots. Short story long 🤷♀️, because the squirrels are so adept at getting at everything, I keep safflower seed in the 2 regular feeders - helps deter them from running up and around my balcony. But the 2 chickadees that visit me daily like the seed and come very close when I’m out here! They are sooo stinking cute. And I recently within the last couple weeks have had Nuthatches visit! And got a chance to see both a Chickadee and white breasted Nuthatch at the feeder at the same time within 2 ft of where I was sitting 🥰❤️! Bird ID and info seeking research is what led me to you! So thank you sooo much! And I’ve also learned not to neglect my winter bird feeding ❤️!
I have always loved these precious little angels. Now, after watching your video... tho I didnt think it possible... I love them even more. Bless their sweet little hearts. 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Hiking with a friend in a forested area in Colorado, she was telling me something and pointed her finger. A chickadee landed on her pointed finger and stayed for a visit while we laughed. We then could hear this little one following us chattering in the trees when we hiked for days! So adorable! Lesley, your video is wonderful!
Haha they are pretty hyperactive little fellas. So adorable!!!! I loved the clip of the chickadee throwing the seed away omg! 😆🥰🥰🥰. I want to hand feed a chickadee one day. 2:53, those blinks are sooo cute! 😍 thanks for the great video as always Leslie! 😊
Lesley, thank you for all of these wonderful videos, they are SO enjoyable, soothing and relaxing!! I LOVE them!! I feed the birds in my back yard, the chickadees are steady customers! 😍. So sweet!
They have been my favourites of bird for many years. I love how curious and brave they are. They were almost always the first birds to closely approach me, along with nuthatches. For a long time I've felt I would experience their strong emotions which just tickled my heart. I love these tiny balls of fluff.
Chickadees will land on me sometimes when I'm out on our patio handfeeding the chipmunks, they are so light that you can't even really feel them land on you. I love them!
My neighbors big dog picked up a stunned chickadee that had flown into their window. It wasn’t harmed at all, but was unconscious for a minute or so. I just kept it warm and quiet, made it a little nest, and in the morning, it was sitting on top of the curtain rod. I opened the door and it flew out. 💕 You are lucky and blessed to have these birds trust you. 🥰 I’m a new subscriber. 👍🏽

Seeing those little ones hide seeds on you was just beautiful!
Hiding seeds on you is amazing!
Their curiosity and courage are really cute.
I have always loved these precious little angels. Now, after watching your video... tho I didnt think it possible... I love them even more. Bless their sweet little hearts.

HOW TRUSTED AND LOVED ARE YOU, THAT THE BIRDS HIDE SEEDS ON YOU. THANKS FOR BEAUTIFUL VIDEO, I ALWSYS PASS IT ON.

Man I would love to be able to just feed birds like that. I could do that all day
Your work makes people happy in this harsh world.
Thank you for sharing. I love that these adorable little birds come up close to check me out as though thanking me for feeding them.
My all time favorite. Love to hear their cheery call on a sunny winter day.
Lesley, thank you for all of these wonderful videos, they are SO enjoyable, soothing and relaxing!! I LOVE them!! I feed the birds in my back yard, the chickadees are steady customers! 😍. So sweet!

That's amazing that they trust you and land on you!
When my depression comes back and I have problems feeling anything but empty, this video brings me back to life. Thank you for sharing!!
They have been my favourites of bird for many years. I love how curious and brave they are. They were almost always the first birds to closely approach me, along with nuthatches. For a long time I've felt I would experience their strong emotions which just tickled my heart. I love these tiny balls of fluff.
Just love chickadees!! I always answer them when they are around. Love their little black cap! Loved your video!! Thank you!!
I absolutely love these little birdies 🧡 Their songs always put a smile on my face 🙂💜🐤🐦
They are so smart and always the first birds to find my feeder in the winter.
You are lucky and blessed to have these birds trust you. 🥰
I’m a new subscriber. 👍🏽
They have large heads , and are very smart.
A chickadee is cheerful, clever and quick...to hang upside down is his fav or it trick
I love them too! Everything they do and how they look is adorable! It totally unswallowed that seed before stuffing it into the bark. So cute!
