Hi - Lesley! - So glad to see another video and hooe you're okay. I don't have Chickadees in my area - this is a real treat to see yours on video. I love their calls and they are very, very cute 💕 Only 10 grams? Wow! - Stephanie
@@SW13333 oh no way! I can't believe you don't get chickadees in your area. They truly are little darlings and I'm so glad you enjoyed seeing them in this video. Hope you're doing well. Take care, Stephanie. 🙂
@@LesleytheBirdNerd - I'm in a huge spread out city - further north from me where there's more trees - maybe there. Doing okay - very concerned +angry about the chaos going on here in U.S.- people doing what they want - injuring others and property. Where I'm located, there's been a large increase of people moving here - it's already big enough - Ugh. Thanks for asking. :):) Stephanie
they are my absolute favorite. brave, friendly and tiny. the fact that they never migrate makes a big impact on me, regardless of the time of year, if i'm having a bad day or week, i'll seek them out in a ravine to hand feed them. just the very touch of their little feet and them looking at me with those tiny expressive eyes, makes me feel like the One True Creator is near me and watching over me. i'm being sent messages of love and friendship from Heaven
I was hiking in a state park recently when some Black-capped Chickadees landed on a nearby tree. I was talking to them in my high-pitched bird voice.." Hello Chickadee, how are you"? Not knowing that some other hikers were just feet away watching me chuckling. Was kinda embarrassed but who cares? They're CUTE! P.S. I really appreciate your videos. Excellent camera work and editing.
Seriously, do talk to birds, in a high-pitched soothing voice! They definitely know that tone of voice and respond to it. And any talking at all shows that you are not a predator.
I talk to mine all of the time and I really don't care if anyone has seen me and laughed, not going to stop me. hahaha. 🙂 thanks for the nice comment on my work. Take care
Steve Hogue - I reached the point as to heck what the neighbors or people think. I keep a plastic zip bag of dry cat food in the car - if I'm at a stoplight and see birds looking for food on the grassy medium - window comes down, throw food and happily watch them devour it. I also do this if I'm leaving a parking lot and see a group of birds - usually Great Tail Grackles. I released a couple of them years ago (juveniles that could now fly) and I would dangle a Superworm and call them if I saw one in a tree - letting them know food was on the way. It gave them a great start for their journey into adulthood. - Stephanie
I have an abundance of these little ones. Every time I walk out my door I can usually hear them chatting away. I talk to them sometimes, pretending their chatter back & forth is answering me. Lol. I keep plenty of peanuts and black oil sunflower seeds in my feeders for them. I just love them!!
Hi Lesley, my 10 year old daughter wrote a poem last winter about Chickadees that I would like to share. I am typing it just as she wrote it. It is called Winter Chickadee Winter Chickadee in flight Winter Chickadee shimmering so bright Sunny all day dark all night day chickadees are in flight while wintered out wolves roam at night Swooping down from tree to tree The Chickadees as free and as merry as a bee Summer spring winter and fall the chickadees home is the forest that's all Saying its name to communicate that's one of the chickadees calls chickadee cute chickadee sweet I LOVE CHICKADEES
True story... I bought bird feed today bc of your videos. 😊 I just feel better knowing the local birds can always visit when hungry or if they need a bath. It's fun, I have wild bunnies too... They play with the squirrels... AND they're not afraid of me. I really think the birds like my piano playing.
They’re always on my porchSinging in the morning when I wake up so I really enjoy that and I also enjoy the fact at certain chickadees stay all you’re around on my porch as well.
I used to feed Chickadees from my hand on the porch near the feeder. One day I was knitting on the porch and was aware of Chickadees saying their “dee dee dee” call, but focusing on my knitting and not paying attention. Suddenly I felt a small swing brush across my forehead, and felt the breeze of it as he tried to get my attention scolding me with his “dee dee dee”. I looked up, laughing and noticed the feeder was empty. I filled it at once! I still chuckle when I think of that.
Out of all the birds that come to my feeders, i feel the strongest bond and connection with chickadees it's pretty incredible. 😊 They are the least afraid to get close to me and they are always first to the feeder once i turn my buck after restocking them. Can't get of these cute creatures. Chickadees forever!❤😊
These are SUCH beautiful little birds....fell in love with them through the eyes of my good teacher who took us out on early morning bird watching in the woods of western Michigan...still live in Michigan and hear their upbeat music every day....all seasons....thank you so much for what you do...gives a big smile for me and....complete...agreement on their beauty and love for the little eternal birds which seem to say, in season and out season, hot dry summers.....frigid, barren winters....”be of good cheer, see...the suns shine bright, and here gentle rains nourish even the biggest old tree which provide our shelter and enjoyment, the swish of their leaves and needles moved vy the wind comforts our souls”......be of good cheer...they are of great company these little ones....
We had our turtles out for a walk in the back yard one year and this chickadee got really curious and was following them around the yard. It was really cute.
it is just a joy to see our brothers conecting whith us again without fear we can see the love vibration rising in the wordl love is the answer blessings from portugal
Never saw one sleeping very cute! Chickadees are adorable no doubt. My favourite cute behaviour is the conversations when a flock is in a tree. Another reassuring part of the forest soundtrack.
This Sunday we were saying the rosary at our churches woodland Rosary path when we kept hearing the song of a chickadee praying along with us. It was so loud that everyone noticed. It was concluded that the bird was praying too. thank you for sharing your great videos.
I'm amazed that they can recall so many food stashes! At least twice per day I look around trying to find my glasses, that are also on my head. Your deep love of birds shines through in your video and your enthusiasm is contagious.
Aww man my dad always tells me that his grandma loved the chickadees and always fed them, she passed before I was born so i never had a chance to share my interest of bird feeding with her. I love this channel and how relaxing and down to earth it is, keep it up Lesley 😄
Extra awesome because we don't have this species here (Melbourne Australia). My dad, many years ago, taught house sparrows to trust him enough to eat from his hand. Last year, during our film festival (MIFF) I had the experience of having sparrows eat from my hand -- I nearly passed out. I caught a few moments on video before its memory maxed out. Such a cool moment. Terry
I have always loved these precious little angels. Now, after watching your video... tho I didnt think it possible... I love them even more. Bless their sweet little hearts. 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
A really special video Lesley. These cute little souls are so precious and it is lovely to think they feel you will protect their seed cache. Thank you so much for sharing with us and being a bright light in these gloomy times. Be well and stay safe.
LOVE my chikadees! My favorite is the Black-capped, then the Chestnut-Backed. Always around, even in the gloom of winter, and their calls grace every day!
My chickadee family had two broods this summer. What a privilege to watch them live and grow. I will never outgrow the thrill of their cute little feet gripping my fingers. Heaven on earth.❤
Lesley, thank you, they are so adorable! This year there must be a few Chickadee families in and near my yard. The cutest thing is when I walk out to fill the big feeder in the morning and they all seem to spread the word. They definitely know me and my schedule.
Awww so sweet. You're right they actual do spread the word when feeders are being topped up. I remember when I used to top of the feeders the chickadees would chat back and forth. Adorable little birds
The chickadees around my property are usually the first to sound the "chow time" call when I am carrying the food bucket and filling seed feed trays. Cheers from Texas!

We then could hear this little one following us chattering in the trees when we hiked for days! So adorable! Lesley, your video is wonderful!
I watched with wonder and delight all one spring as a very busy pair of chickadees nested in a bush just the other side of my living room window. They are tiny but mighty!
My favorite songbird, I use their call for my ringtone, enjoy watching people look around when the phone goes off in the grocery checkout line. Thank you Lesley. I always look forward to you new videos. We have three small bird favorites here in Middle Georgia. We do have a family of Carolina Chickadees that come up to the feeder early in the morning and near sunset. Black-capped Chickadees are one of my favorite local birds. Their small size and cute plumage to go with their energy, intelligence, personality, and vocals make them charming. I enjoy listening to and observing flocks during the late winter pre-nesting season. I've been able to get close to them as they actively fly and hop around on perches being vocal. I've been hearing fledglings begging parents for food in the woodlot behind the building I live in.
Great close-up of the Boreal! I really want to see this one. Love all the sweet little chickadees. What a treat to have the baby and mom on your hand! Thanks for this sweet video.

Lesley, thank you for all of these wonderful videos, they are SO enjoyable, soothing and relaxing!! I LOVE them!! I feed the birds in my back yard, the chickadees are steady customers! 😍. So sweet!

Now I know, that when my kid comes outside rowdy and ready to play with the sprinkler or something, and I hear that "DEE DEEE DEEE DEEEE DEEEE!" They're definitely letting everyone know danger is indeed a foot! 🤣🤣
Black-capped chickadees are one of my favorite birds to watch. Something about their behavior is so charming. I love how easy their call is to recognize too, I always know when there's a chickadee around. I live in an area with cold, long, snowy winters and I find it so impressive that these tiny birds maintain the metabolism to remain active year-round without migrating. They're so hardy!
I absolutely love these little guys! I go to a nearby park in the area, and stand with outstretched arm with seed in my hand. They all flock around me and eat the seed. They are so tame..its a beautiful experience. I love everything about them ! Thanks for your beautiful videos !! 😇🌺💗
I have always been in love with Chickadees and their calls. I like to hear "Cheeeeeeseburger!" rather than "Heeey Sweetie", but that's just me. Thank you for giving me such an intimate look at my favorite little entity on this giant rock hurtling through space. You are the best.
+LesleytheBirdNerd You are so lucky to have them come near you. I do have two questions though, what happened to Alpha and Chicklet? And the second question is how can you tell the difference between male Chickadees and female Chickadees? I love these little birds as well, they are so cute and very entertaining to watch.

When my depression comes back and I have problems feeling anything but empty, this video brings me back to life. Thank you for sharing!!
7:31 One was like, “Don’t you dare take that seed!” That always brought me a smile.
Loved the video on the chickadees 👍🏻😍 they are my favourite bird too! 🥰🥰
You're most welcome. I'm so thrilled that you enjoy these videos. Take care

They are wonderful! 🥰🙏🏻
